Coronation Street will delve into the dark past of Kit Green in a special flashback episode later this year.

ITV bosses have been filming scenes for the upcoming episode in Manchester this week as the truth about Kit’s (Jacob Roberts) past with Weatherfield newcomers Mick (Joe Layton) and Lou (Farrel Hegarty) is revealed.

In one dramatic scene, young Kit (Brook Debio) and Mick are chased by the police after apparently stealing a bag.

And while one of them manages to run away, the other is caught red-handed screaming that he didn’t have anything to do with the crime.

Meanwhile, another flashback episode shows a young Lou (Charlotte Alex-Riley) sitting outside a pub as she’s joined by young Kit.

The pair could be seen engaging in a chat and Lou shows him her Manchester United top before he abruptly gets up and leaves.

Viewers have watched how Kit has hidden his dark side since arriving on the cobbles last year.

The police detective has planted evidence on innocent suspects, blackmailed criminals into handing over cash to avoid being arrested, and terrorised anyone who gets in his way.

The troubled character also manipulates Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) into bed and seduces married Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) several times.

Kit was previously revealed as the biological son of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), who had given him up for adoption nearly three decades ago.

However, he claimed he wanted nothing to do with his biological mother until his brother Paul (Peter Ash) made one final dying wish that they reunite.

Jane Hazelgrove was also pictured filming emotional scenes for the flashback episode on Monday.

The actress appeared visibly distressed as she spoke to a mysterious person on the phone after exiting her taxi.

During shooting, the star can be seen on the verge of tears as she rips a necklace from her neck before throwing it into a bin and quickly running off.

Coronation Street’s boss Kate Brooks recently teased Kit’s connection to newcomers Mick and Lou.

She told The Sun: ‘We’ve got some great characters coming in. They are Mick and Lou.’

‘They’re coming to live at the back of Chesney, on Maudsley Street, across the ginnel. They are livewires, they are ruffians, they are going to cause a lot of damage and a lot of chaos.’

‘There is a link to Chesney initially, but they are coming to stir up a lot of trouble, and open up the floodgates and unpack the past of one of our big characters, which is Kit.’

The producer also teased that the newcomers are going to cause some chaos on the cobbles and will ‘leave a trail of devastation’.
