A Coronation Street star is ‘set to make a shock return’ to the soap just five months after he quit the soap.
Ciaran Griffiths, who played Damon Hay, has recently been seen on set at Media City in Manchester – despite ditching the cobbles after two years to move to Australia in March.
His character Damon is currently behind bars, serving six years in prison for armed robbery.
But his sighting on the cobbles poses questions if he is planning a return to the show, according to new reports.
A source told The Sun: ‘Ciaran has been spotted on set in recent days – which will be a shock to fans because when he left the show, he went back to Australia.

‘The actor returns to filming whenever the show needs to see him in prison.
‘Because his character was sentenced to six years behind bars, that means it’s likely one unlucky cobbles resident is going to end up in prison – as Damon isn’t getting out any day soon.’
In his final scenes, viewers saw Damon get arrested for armed robbery after being blackmailed into it by brother Harvey Gaskell.
While he had the option to turn on Harvey (Will Mellor) and remain free to live with his girlfriend Sarah Platt, instead he chose to plead guilty and accept the years in prison with Harvey as he knew the pair would never be safe.
The brothers had a brutal fight and then reunited with plans to relaunch their criminal empire from behind bars.
During his departure episode, Damon summoned Sarah (Tina O’Brien) to the prison where he then broke up with her.
As Sarah promised she would wait for him and that they could have a future together, Damon dropped a bombshell as he ended the relationship.
He confessed: ‘I don’t want you to do that because I asked you here to tell you to your face, we’re finished.

‘I’m doing you a massive favour. You turned my world upside down but if I loved you, properly loved you, I wouldn’t have done the stuff I’ve done.
‘You’ve got to walk away. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye Sarah.’
Damon then got up and walked away, as she was left devastated at the unexpected news.
And while fans didn’t know it at the time, the breakup marked Ciaran’s final scenes on the show.
Just a month after he quit the soap, Ciaran secretly married his girlfriend in front of the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
He decided to leave the cobbles after two years in the role and moved Down Under to be with his wife and son.
The soap star met his wife when touring in a theatre production in Australia in 2019, he briefly moved back to the UK to reprise his role as Damon in January.
