The White Lotus fans are insisting they ‘need to know what went down in Thailand’ after Charlotte Le Bon replaced Francesca Corney in the role of Chloe.
The seemingly out of the blue casting decision saw the Thai actress, 32, leave the cast for the Canadian star, 38, to take her place.
And now, with more behind the scenes cast pictures from other stars of the show popping up, such as Jason Isaacs Instagram dump featuring snippets of Francesca, viewers are questioning why she never ended up being part of the show.
It was announced in January 2024 that the actress would be playing Chloe, before a second update iun March revealed she would no longer be in the Thailand-based series.
According to Deadline, HBO ‘would not comment but we hear that the producers felt they needed someone who played older’.
Taking to X to question the change, fans quipped: ‘I NEED to know what went down in Thailand during filming of #WhiteLotus. Jason Isaacs just posted some pictures of filming and we can see Francesca Corney there with them before she got replaced by Charlotte Le Bon.’

‘Francesca Corney? She was replaced by Charlotte le Bon (Chloe). I wonder how much they refilmed.. and why exactly. (supposedly they wanted someone to look older but who knows)’
‘This is some tea! I want to know more.’
‘Omg Francesca Corney in the second pic, I forgot she was meant to be in this season.’
‘Mourning the francesca corney cast change rn.’
Members of the cast also feature on Francesca’s Instagram account, as the actress has selfies and group pictures with the likes of Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Sam Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook and Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Confused fans wrote in the comments: ‘Totally whack. Obviously you know the inner details of all this, but their excuse for replacing you doesn’t make sense (especially when they replaced you with someone that looks the same age?). Are there no Thai actresses over 25??’
‘Wow, what a weird situation. But more good opportunities will come & you are a class act w/ a bright future!’
‘I’m sorry they recast your part! Would’ve been interesting to see your version of the character!’
Even cast member Shalini Peiris commented: ‘Always a part of TWL family,’ alongside a heart emoji.
In a seemingly now-deleted Instagram post that’s circulated on social media, Francesca reportedly wrote: ‘I’ve checked out of the White Lotus! Although heartbreaking, I’m so incredibly grateful for the short time I got to spend with everyone.

Fans have been left baffled over the change on social media

Even cast member Shalini Peiris commented: ‘Always a part of TWL family,’ alongside a heart emoji
‘I have so so much love for this cast and crew. Season three is gonna be GOOOD. I’ll be watching and supporting the whole way.’
Some fans were disappointed that a Thai actress had been replaced, since the season had been set there.
In the replies of a Reddit thread, viewers reacted to the statement with: ‘I really like Charlotte Le Bon but they’ve obviously completely changed the character, which sucks as there was an opportunity to explore some really interesting themes around racial identity/ privilege there. Very classy statement from Francesca.
‘Obviously very disappointing for the actor… while Im neutral on the casting choice, I think it sucks they replaced the Thai actor with a while one (no shade on Charlotte, I wish her well!) especially seeing as how theyre in Thailand lol.’
‘That’s such BS to replace her with a white actor not even another Thai one!!! What’s the point of them being in Thailand then.’
At the time of being cast, Francesca was fresh off a successful run in season one of Apple TV’s The Buccaneers.
The series is based on the Edith Wharton novel about young American ‘new money’ heiresses who travel to England in search of titled husbands.

It comes after Sam Nivola addressed the shocking incest storyline on The White Lotus which fans branded ‘disturbing’ after the latest episode.
The actor, 21, plays Lochlan Ratliff on the show, while Patrick Schwarzenegger stars as his older, obnoxious brother Saxon.
Fans began to suspect an incest storyling was looming after Lochlan watched his brother standing naked in the bathroom, while Saxon also asked a lot of intrusive questions about his brother’s sex life in early episodes.
In episode five, the brothers shared a drunken kiss while attending a Fool Moon Party on a Thai island with Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood).
Writer and director Mike White upped the ante in episode six as it was slowly revealed that Lochlan performed a sex act on his brother during their drunken night out.
Saxon was horrified when local resident Chloe told him what happened while Lochlan later remembered the events while separated from his brother.
Speaking to Variety about the storyline, Sam admited it was ‘weird’ kissing Patrick.
He said: ‘It was very weird kissing Patrick because he’s a really good friend of mine. And, you know, I’m straight, he’s straight. It’s already weird.’
‘Patrick was already like a brother to me. It felt sort of f**ked up.’
Sam also discussed filming the sex scene with Charlotte Le Bon, adding: ‘We didn’t really know her at all. But I guess she knew that [creator Mike White] wouldn’t cast someone inappropriate to play a creepy role.’
