Concert Controversy: Woman Criticized for Wild Antics

An overzealous concertgoer has been slammed by fans after quite a wild display at a recent show in the US.

TikToker Gnarli_xcx took to the social media platform to share a short clip of her aunt enjoying an Ethel Cain concert in Los Angeles.

‘No one had a better time at Ethel Cain than my aunt,’ the user captioned the clip, which has since gone viral.

The clip shows a seated section of a theatre with what looks to be a packed house calmly enjoying the show from their seats.

The aunt, however, could not hide her excitement at seeing the Southern Gothic songwriter in the flesh.

She could be seen standing in her aisle, dancing like no one was watching as her fellow concertgoers remained seated.

She flailed her arms with abandon and even offered some Moulin Rouge-style chorus line kicks as she enjoyed the tunes.

Not content with her meagre space in the aisle, the woman then moved to a wider thoroughfare to continue her dance routine.

Here, she proceeded to excitedly jump up and down to the beat before a security guard sauntered over to put an end to the wild display.

The woman complied with the guard’s request, bizarrely running off to another seat.

The clip was met with a flurry of comments from fellow concertgoers, with many slamming the woman’s wild antics.

‘Girl, I was behind her. She was ruining my night,’ one angry fan commented.

Another chimed in, slamming the woman as ‘disruptive.’

‘Believe me, I’m all for standing up and going crazy, dancing and singing along for seated concerts but this is just rudely disruptive and such a safety issue,’ they wrote.

‘Security shouldn’t have to get involved multiple times… this would be harmless if it’s in GA but stay in your seat omggg.’

A third added a similar sentiment: ‘It’s a safety issue for anyone to be dancing or standing in an aisle at a show like this.’

‘Sure it’s “ok” if one person does it, but suddenly if they inspire others it’s a major fire hazard. Etiquette-wise, it’s important not to impede on how others around you can enjoy the show.’

It wasn’t all criticism, though, with many praising the woman’s unbridled energy.

‘To all you who are mad. You still enjoyed the concert. She was having fun and was even disciplined for it by security. Saying she ruined your night or whatever,’ one fan offered.

‘Give me a break like y’all are not the main characters in this world btw.’

Another jumped in with: ‘This is how concerts used to be. When the priority was being in the moment and connecting with the artist not focusing on recording a moment you’re going to post on Instagram to never revisit again.

‘Concert etiquette has become so boring and individualistic, y’all couldn’t dance right with her.’

The viral clip even made it to Sunrise, with hosts Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr discussing the woman’s antics on Tuesday.

‘Maybe she couldn’t get standing room only tickets,’ Matt said.

‘I think that’s what some of the people said,’ Nat replied. ‘All good but not in front of me when I’m sitting down.

‘It’s hard to know unless you were sitting right there.’
