‘We’re thrilled to welcome the multi-talented Colin Jost as the host of ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’ she said. ‘Colin’s wry affability and pop culture fluency make him uniquely qualified as the perfect host for this new iteration of the beloved franchise.’
Pop Culture Jeopardy marks the first time that the brainy series, which was created by Sony Pictures Television’s game show division, will hit a streaming service.
The game show, which is yet to get a premiere date, will be released in more than 240 countries and may just be targeted to film enthusiasts and reality TV addicts who want to showcase their knowledge.
Contestants will play in teams of three and compete for the ultimate prize.
The spinoff is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
It will be set up as the original game show, however the question segment will focus on things like music, films, TV shows, sports, and more.
Lauren Anderson, who is head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming at Amazon MGM Studios, dished about the game show twist while speaking to Variety.

‘With Michael Davies at the helm, Pop Culture Jeopardy! is going to be a nail biter for game show enthusiasts who can expect to see teams competing at the highest level of Jeopardy! combined with a fresh twist of pop culture Olympics for the mind.
‘It’s going to be a must-watch for long-time viewers and new fans alike.’
In the past, other Jeopardy! spinoffs have delighted fans, including Sports Jeopardy! and Rock & Roll Jeopardy!, which ran from 1998 to 2001.
Jep!, which was a kid’s version and ran from 1998 to 2000, also soared in ratings.
The original game show hit TV screens in 1964 and quickly took off due to popularity amongst fans.
