Cobra Kai stars Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser have announced a major development in their flourishing romance.

They first revealed their relationship only this Wednesday night, posing together at the series finale premiere for their show at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre.

While there, they proudly showed off the rings on their left hands, sending fans into a tailspin of speculation about whether they had secretly tied the knot.

The following day, Tanner, 29, and Mary, 28, posted a joint statement on Instagram joyously revealing: ‘We’re so happy to finally share that we’re engaged.’

In a nod to the conclusion of their show, they noted: ‘This is such a special moment in our lives, the closing of one chapter and celebrating the continuation of another.’

They added: ‘We’re so grateful for the love and support, and though we’re partial to having our private moments, we’re excited to share this check-in to our world.’

Cobra Kai, a martial arts comedy show, is a sequel series to the Karate Kid film franchise that has been beloved by audiences since the 1980s.

The new show started life on YouTube in 2018 before transferring to Netflix in 2020, staying on the streaming service for the remainder of its six-season run.

Tanner and Mary have been in the principal cast from the start – alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka from the original 1984 Karate Kid film.

They have not disclosed when their romantic relationship began or when they got engaged, nor have they hinted when the wedding will be.

However Tanner did post an Insta Stories snap of him and Mary holding up their rings, writing heartwarmingly: ‘that’s my best friend’.

Back in 2021, Tanner revealed that he was dating Gen V actress Lizze Broadway, whom he described as ‘absolutely wonderful’ to GQ.

Meanwhile Mary previously dated actor Brett Pierce, who has been seen on such TV series as The Real O’Neals and Stuck In The Middle.

During Wednesday’s premiere, Tanner said Mary was ‘one hundred percent’ one of his confidantes on the show, but added that ‘literally everybody’ also was.

‘There’s not one person that we don’t hang out with and have fun with, and we truly keep saying that we’re going to be around in each other’s lives forever. I don’t know how to explain it,’ added the actor to People.

‘It’s just really crazy, weird, cool family connection that we’ve built over the past seven and a half years, and none of us are ever not going to be in each other’s lives.’

Tanner also reflected on the end of Cobra Kai and the effect it had on his real life since his teen years, in an interview with Yahoo! News UK.

‘We all grew up with our characters, so it’s been fun to even take some of his own lessons that he’s learned along the way, and kind of incorporate them in my own life,’ said the Lima, Ohio-born actor in his new interview.
