Clementine Ford has passionately hit out at ‘body shaming’ trolls who left cruel comments on a video of a dancing influencer.
The feminist writer, 43, took to her Instagram Stories on Monday to share her thoughts on a video shared to the Instagram page, Influencers In The Wild.
The account is known for satirically poking fun at influencers filming in public places, and shared a video of a woman filming in a secluded park area this week.
The clip showed the woman smiling as she filmed herself dancing while her phone was set up on a tripod, while a car also honked in the background at one point.
Clementine has since taken to her Instagram to join a string of social media users in slamming the body shaming comments left underneath the video.
The author passionately hit out at the ‘gross f**kers on the internet’ who felt the need to comment on the influencer’s appearance, calling them ‘f**king basic’.
Commenting on the post, Clementine penned: ‘She looks like she’s having lots of fun and doesn’t hate herself. I can see why that bothers some of the sad, wounded people in these comments.’
She then posted a video further criticising the cruel online trolls, and even slammed Influencers In The Wild for sharing the video in the first place.

Influencers In The Wild, known for poking fun at social media users, took to Instagram on Monday to share a video of a woman smiling and dancing in a secluded public area
She insisted it wasn’t relevant to poke fun at the influencer as she was clearly filming in a secluded outdoor area, not getting in the way of other people in a busy place.
‘This woman exists in a larger body, I’m not going to speculate on the size of that body, doesn’t matter, it’s none of my business,’ she fumed.
‘It was really reassuring that the majority of the comments were in opposition to posting this video because let’s be honest, it was very clearly a dog whistle. It was clickbait, it was engagement.’
She went on: ‘The reason I’m doing this story now isn’t to kind of make the point that we still live in a society and in a world where people feel completely entitled to comment on other people’s bodies and make moralistic comments on other people’s bodies [like] ”she needs to go to a gym” but for another reason.’
Clementine went on to compare the body shaming comments to the criticism of Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, who was hit by bizarre scrutiny of her gender after her Paris 2024 win.
Imane was forced to hit back at online trolls for ‘killing people’s thoughts, spirit and mind’ as she slapped back at the bullying speculation made about her gender.
Comparing the two situations, Clementine criticised the trolls for commenting on women’s bodies and accused them of misogyny.
She shared: ‘The [comments] that I find the most ludicrous are almost reminiscent of what is informing the assault of Imane Khelif, racism, misogyny [and] transphobia, even if transphobia is not directly applicable to [Imane’s] experience, which is why we need to defend all trans women.’
It comes after Influencers In The Wild hit back at criticism for sharing the video, claiming people were projecting their own body shaming feelings on the footage.

Influencer Jade, who goes by chubbybellyredhead on Instagram, also identified herself as being the woman in the video as she addressed the online storm
They penned: ‘If this post bothers you solely because she’s not thin, you are actually the one who’s the problem. I post stuff just like this multiple times per day but now it’s over the line because she’s overweight?
‘If you’re mad, you’re projecting YOUR feelings about people who are overweight. Not posting it because she overweight would be more discriminatory, and I don’t do that here.’
Influencer Jade, who goes by chubbybellyredhead on Instagram, identified herself as being the woman in the video as she addressed the online storm.
After people slammed the page for sharing the video, claiming she was filming in her private garden, Jade assured people that she was filming in a public place.
She wrote underneath the post: ‘Omg this is me lol!!! I didn’t expect to see myself on this page today, thanks to the positive comments! and don’t worry I wasn’t in my yard I was in a public place enjoying myself.’
Jade, who boasts 168,000 Instagram followers, also addressed the body shaming comments left underneath the post in a video shared to her Instagram.
She said: ‘Also to the comments that said it was creepy, the person who was filming was probably just walking home like ”look at that girl, she’s so confident, she’s loving her life”.
‘Or they were either like ”look at that f**king beached whale” like all my comments say. Who knows, and it doesn’t matter as I got some content out of it apparently!’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Jade for further comment.
