Cillian Murphy said he ‘hasn’t really thought about winning’ the Best Actor Oscar despite being tipped for take home the coveted prize at Sunday’s star-studded ceremony.
The Oppenheimer star, 47, also revealed he would likely attend ‘a party of some sort’ whether he bags the gong or not.
Cillian, who’s co-star Robert Downey Jr. is also favourite to bag the Best Supporting Actor trophy, told The Mirror: ‘I haven’t really thought about it to be honest. I just want to go in and have a good time.
‘I’m sure we’ll have a party of some sort. It’s really not competitive. It might appear that way but it’s really not’.
Before adding: ‘None of us expected that the film would do so well. The thing that always strikes me is when people come and say they’ve seen the film five or six times, that’s kind of phenomenal and young and old and boys and girls, it’s amazing.’

Preparations for the 2024 Academy Awards are well underway, with the iconic red carpet already being rolled out ahead of the glitzy ceremony.
Hollywood’s finest will descend on LA’s Dolby Theatre for the 96th edition of the annual ceremony, with films including Barbie, Oppenheimer and Killers Of The Flower Moon battling it out for Best Picture.
With hundreds of big names set to walk the red carpet, this year bosses have made several major changes to proceedings.
After bringing forward this year’s ceremony to air an hour earlier than usual, organisers are reportedly concerned that some big names could arrive late.
Bosses have reportedly altered the layout of the arrivals carpet, with two VIP lanes for the stars to filter down instead of one.
Executives are also said to have a ‘formal plan’ for any potential disturbances that caused by protestors attempting to invade the red carpet.
No matter who wins or loses on Hollywood’s Biggest Night, Oscar nominees will not be going home empty handed.
Those nominated in the various prestigious categories will receive an ‘Everyone Wins’ gift bag stuffed with $180,000 of the most buzzed-about swag, regardless of whether or not they take home the iconic gold statue.
