Christy Carlson Romano Celebrates Positive Cancer Scan

Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano tearfully revealed she tested positive for 'stageable ' following a routine scan.

The Daytime nominee - turning 42 next month - was inspired to get checked by fellow Austin resident who tragically died, age 48, from stage III colon cancer last Wednesday.

'I was able to meet James Van Der Beek a bunch. His family is amazing, he was a pillar of our community in ,' Romano said on Instagram Tuesday.

'Both my parents had cancer. My mom beat it, my dad eventually didn't, my grandmother on my mom's side had lung cancer and died from that. I got the results back a little bit before filming down in [last December].'

The Special Forces: World's Toughest Test contestant is 'nervous and a bit scared' ahead of a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging scan she scheduled for 'later this week' and she hopes the cancer is 'something easy to treat.'

It's a 'very vulnerable time' for Romano, who was accidentally shot in the face with shotgun shrapnel '367 days' ago while shooting clay pigeons at a local range.

The Connecticut-born brunette still has one bullet fragment lodged behind her eye and another fragment still in her forehead because they were too risky for doctors to remove surgically.

'Time to have a strong sense of faith and know that it's in God's hands, most of it,' Romano - who boasts 3.1 million social media followers - said Tuesday.

'I'm sure people think I'm overreacting but I'm not because cancer's pretty f***ing serious and I have two little girls. This is a very emotional post.'
