Christine Quinn’s estranged husband Christian Richard has been charged with three misdemeanors over the domestic violence incidents that took place in March, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office told DailyMail.com on Wednesday.
On March 19, the 44-year-old tech founder (real name Christian Dumontet) was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly throwing a bag with a glass bottle in it at Quinn, which instead hit their son Christian, two, who was then transported to hospital.
Despite Quinn’s emergency protective order against him, Richard — who has since filed for divorce from the Selling Sunset star — allegedly returned to their Hollywood Hills home the next night and he was arrested for a second time.
He is now facing three misdemeanors for child abuse/endangerment, assault and violation of a protective order. The arraignment date is set for June 4, 2024.
TMZ reported that the City Attorney took on the case after the Los Angeles County District Attorney determined that it did not meet felony requirements.
In a statement to DailyMail.com, Quinn’s attorney Jacqueline Sparagna said that they are ‘extremely satisfied with the decision’ and believe it to be ‘a crucial step toward’ protecting both Christine and baby Christian.

‘We are extremely satisfied with the decision of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office to file three separate charges against Mr. Dumontet,’ Sparagna writes.
‘He has now been formally charged with child abuse against his 2-year-old toddler, assault against Christine Quinn, and for violating a restraining order.
‘We believe this development is a crucial step toward safeguarding the legal and personal interests of both victims and trust that that the matter will continue to be handled with the utmost seriousness it deserves,’ the statement concludes.
The latest development comes weeks after Quinn accused her estranged spouse of purposely evading being served a temporary restraining order.
She filed a request for alternate service of the restraining order on Monday, April 22, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
She alleges in the documents that Richard — who has not publicly responded — is in hiding and has been avoiding service of the order.
Quinn’s request, if granted, would offer her ways to prove that she has made enough of an effort to serve her estranged husband after he was arrested in March.
‘Respondent should be permitted to serve petitioner via an alternative method of service due to petitioner’s evasion of service of the domestic violence restraining order documents,’ Quinn’s request reads.
Normal procedure requires that the person being restrained be served the documents informing them of the restraining order before it can go into effect, but Quinn’s inability to find or serve Richard means that her order is essentially useless for now.
Persons filing restraining orders usually have to prove that they have tried to serve the target of the order multiple times, and that they believe the restrained person is attempting to evade service.
If the option for alternative service is granted by the judge, Quinn may be allowed to send copies to various work and home addresses that Richard has to show that she has made an attempt to contact him, or she could even publish notification of a restraining order in a newspaper.
Restrained persons can also be contacted electronically, but only if they consent to have the order served via email, according to the Judicial Branch of Californa.
However, that option is unlikely to work in Richard’s case due to his alleged lack of communication with his estranged wife.
According to Quinn’s filing, it was an unfortunate ‘two-day delay’ that gave Richard ‘sufficient time and notice to successfully evade service of the order,’ therefore preventing it from being enforced for the time being.
She adds that he would be able to ‘violate [the restraining order] repeatedly without legal repercussions.

According to Quinn, she has not seen Richard since March 20, and he has not been seen at all in public since March 27, though she believes he is currently staying at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills under an assumed name. Richard has a history of doing so publicly, as his real name is Christian Dumontet, but during appearances on Selling Sunset and in public with Quinn he has used the name Christian Richard.
‘Due to my public image, [he] and I have taken additional security precautions when staying at hotels previously, such as checking in under pseudonyms or booking blocks of rooms to evade detection,’ Quinn writes in her filing. ‘I believe [Christian] could be employing these methods, or even paying the hotel, to conceal his location.’
Since Richard has allegedly evaded service, she has turned to a process server to help, but they have so far been unable to find the tech founder.
Once the temporary restraining order goes into effect, Richard will not be allowed to have contact with their son, two-year-old Christian Richard Dumontet, and he will be required to steer clear of their home.
Quinn is requesting that the judge allow her to serve the temporary restraining order via Richard’s attorney, who she said has previously claimed she is unable to receive the documents and ‘refused’ to share details about where her client had been staying.
‘Although I was very grateful my request for protection was granted, I was extremely concerned that … he would make every attempt to evade service,’ Quinn adds. ‘My counsel assisted me in retaining a private investigator to have [him] personally served promptly, although I feared locating him would already be an impossible task.’
The reality star claims that Richards attorneys have stymied her efforts to find and serve her estranged husband by ‘continually barr[ing]’ her from contact him.
She even alleges that one of Richard’s attorneys alleged prevented her from entering her own home.
‘As I approached the property, Mr. Villicana insisted he was hired and permitted to surveil and occupy the property as directed by [Christian], in direct violation of the TRO,’ she claimed in her filing.
After a ‘confrontation’ allegedly lasting ‘seven minutes,’ two of Quinn’s employees allegedly arrived at the property to assist her in getting Richard’s attorney to vacate the premises.
‘Mr. Villicana made several threatening remarks while lurking around including, “I will be seeing you again” and “I’m not going anywhere,”‘ she alleges.
Back in March, Richard was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly threw a bag containing a glass bottle at his wife, which missed her and instead hit their two-year-old son Christian.
The two had allegedly been having an argument over their dogs beforehand, per TMZ.
Richard has denied throwing the bag at Christine, and has claimed that it also did not contain any glass, which he claims was a story Christine fed to police.
Richard’s bond was set at $30,000, and he subsequently made bail, before he was shockingly arrested a second time the day after the initial arrest when violated the initial emergency restraining by returning to the family home.

Although Quinn and her son were reportedly not home at the time, Police arrived with guns drawn and did a search of the home before taking Richard into custody.
An eyewitness on the scene alleged that police could be heard shouting for Richard to ‘Come out with your hands up.’
LA County Sheriff’s records indicate that he posted another $30,000 bond and was released hours after the second arrest.
A source told Page Six that Quinn and her son were staying at a separate ‘safe’ location, and that someone else had allegedly called the police on Richard.
Richard was reported to have filed to divorce Quinn on April 5.
The two were originally introduced via a mutual friend, and the tech founder proposed to her on Valentine’s Day of 2019.
They were wed in December of that year in a ceremony with a winter wonderland theme featuring an unusual gothic twist, including Quinn’s black wedding dress.
The couple welcomed their son Christian in 2021.
