Christina Applegate revealed that she is working on a memoir amid her heartbreaking battle with multiple sclerosis.

The 52-year-old was diagnosed with the degenerative illness in 2021 after suffering what she described as ‘six or seven years of symptoms.’

She has been candid about her health struggles on her podcast MeSsy, which she co-hosts with The Sopranos actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who has the same condition.

Now, on a new episode of the podcast, Christina welcomed her old Anchorman co-star Will Ferrell as a guest and told him she had an autobiography in the pipeline.

She made a glancing reference to her actress mother Nancy Priddy, but stopped herself before going into detail, teasing: ‘It’s gonna be in the book.’

Will agreed with her strategy, telling her she should ‘wait for the book,’ to which she replied: ‘Oh, yeah, no, I’m writing it right now.’

The memoir will likely pull the curtain back on Christina’s childhood in Hollywood, where her mother worked consistently as a TV actress.

Christina herself was only three months old when she first appeared on television alongside Nancy on an episode of Days Of Our Lives.

She then catapulted to sitcom fame as a teenager on Married… With Children, in which her parents were played by Katey Sagal and Ed O’Neill.

Over the course of her book, she will be able to shed light on the experience of working with a dazzling variety of Hollywood heavyweights.

From playing opposite Will Ferrell in Anchorman, to featuring as Jennifer Aniston’s sister on Friends, Christina has rubbed shoulders with the cream of the A-list.

However, her autobiography will also afford her the opportunity to lift the curtain on the dark side of her life in the entertainment industry.

When Christina became a teen star on Married… With Children at the age of 15, Nancy enrolled her in the Weight Watchers program.

The incident was a chapter in Christina’s past experience of anorexia, which she revealed for the first time on her podcast in May.

As her star climbed, Christina became so obsessed with being thin that she ‘wanted my bones to be sticking out’ and at times subsisted on ‘five almonds in a day.’

The issue was compounded by Nancy, who ‘was obsessed with her weight so she would always say things like: “You could stand to lose 5lbs.”‘

Nancy even became ‘competitive’ with Christina about weight loss, to the point that ‘if I got down to 110, which, I mean, that’s a low number for someone who’s my height, she’d be like: “Oh, I’m so mad! How’d you do it? How’d you get down to 110?”‘

Amid her harrowing experience with multiple sclerosis, Christina recently revealed the ‘things I want to do with the days I have left in life.’

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, she shared: ‘I want to work with Shirley MacLaine And do shots with Cher! And yes my days are so big. Just saying.’

Christina recently raised concerns among her fans by remarking on her podcast: ‘I don’t enjoy living. I don’t enjoy it. I don’t enjoy things anymore.’

As her fans expressed their fears for her on social media, she issued a clarification saying that she finds it ‘healing’ to be frank about her emotional turmoil.

She confessed that she harbors ‘dark thoughts’ but added: ”By making such a big deal about it you’re making other people think: “Oh, s***, I can’t talk about this.” And that is not okay with me. I think it’s important to be able to say these things.’

Christina revealed last month that her daughter Sadie, 13, has been diagnosed with a neurological condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

POTS causes the patient’s heart rate to quicken when sitting or standing up, in a phenomenon heightened by hot weather.

‘When I stand up, I get really, really dizzy and my legs get really weak, and I feel like I’m going to pass out,’ Sadie explained on her mother’s podcast.

Christina shares her daughter with her second and current husband Martyn LeNoble, the Dutch bassist for the rock band Porno For Pyros.

Before she developed multiple sclerosis, Christina’s health problems included a 2008 diagnosis with breast cancer, for which she underwent a double mastectomy.
