Chris Taylor revealed the ’embarrassing’ reason why he won’t be appearing in a potential Barbie sequel.
The Love Island star, 33, made a cameo appearance in the box-office blockbuster movie as one of the many Kens.
During his short-lived appearance, which lasted less than 30 seconds, the TV star appeared on a stage announcing: ‘And the Nobel prize for horses goes to Ken!’
But Chris shut down rumours he could be appearing in a sequel of the iconic film – which bagged one Academy Award prize for Best Song earlier last month – while chatting to his friend and fellow Islander Toby Aromolaran.
Chris Taylor revealed the ’embarrassing’ reason why he won’t be appearing in a potential Barbie sequel as he spilled the beans on his brief performance (pictured at London’s Barbie premiere in July)
The Love Island star, 33, made a cameo appearance in the box-office blockbuster movie as one of the many Ken, appearing on a stage as he said: ‘And the Nobel prize for horses goes to Ken!’
While on Toby’s YouTube podcast Fancy A Chat, Chris said when asked about reprising the role: ‘Probably not. I don’t know if they’ll have me back. Took me literally five hours to get a single line out properly. I did about 57 takes.’
He went on explaining: ‘One time, I got it wrong. But that was only because they said that a camera was going to come in front of me and it didn’t.
‘And it was a camera that was like six miles away that I was never even gonna see.’
‘I think Margot Robbie’s husband Tom was just like, ‘Yeah, don’t worry mate. Like, it’s over there. You’re not gonna see it’. But anyway, it just took me, it took a lot. It took me like four hours of filming,’ the reality star said bluntly.
About the filming method on set, Chris told: ‘They got me to do it in so many different ways, so many different inclinations, so many different voices. So I had no idea what was going to go into it.’
‘I’ll be honest, none of them felt right,’ he confessed.
‘I’d walked into a studio in Watford. Ryan Gosling’s there, Margot Robbie’s there, like, all this massive set. There’s loads of extras. There’s so much going on. It was a pure, like, sensory overload.’
Chris, who shot to fame on the fifth series of the dating show and dated Maura Higgins, previously revealed that leading star and producer Margot Robbie got him a part in the hit movie.

The reality favourite kept his role a secret for two years, and at the movie’s premiere in London back in July, he told LadBible: ‘There is a bit of a backstory. The lads went to a premiere.
‘They met Margot [Robbie], and then afterwards Margot shouted them and said ”Come to the after party!”, cause she’s obsessed with Love Island right.’
‘So then, I was living with the boys at the time, so I was like ‘I’m coming’ and she knew who we all were. She watches the show.
‘So she comes up to me like “Chris!” and I’m like “what the f**k is going on?” I dunno, she must have just remembered me from then.’
Explaining her love for the dating series, Hollywood alum Margot, 33, previously said: ‘Love Island reminds me of living in London — watching it with my girlfriends when everybody was home from work.’
Chris also revealed the Suicide Squad sensation offered him the role after he chatted to her about his friends’ micropenis.
And as the reality star soaked up the fame and hype on the red carpet during the film’s premiere in July 2023, the Australian actress comforted Chris by revealing that many people who attended that evening were in fact, cut from the movie.
He told MailOnline: ‘No, I don’t have personal contact with Margot Robbie. I saw her at the premiere and she gave me a hug and said ”there was people that were cut from this film, and you’re still in it, and I’m buzzing about that”, so that was very nice.
‘I was speaking to her husband after and he was just saying Margot was like ”we have got to get Chris in this film, so that is nice” but no contact since, she is obviously very busy.’
The ITV contestant from Leicester also revealed an ’embarrassing moment’ he had while he was halfway through filming the iconic motion picture.
In front of A-list celebrities such as Ryan Gosling and Ncuti Gatwa, Chris admitted that he misidentified a man on the set as Chris Evans’s brother.
Speaking of his cringe moment, he said: ‘Oh, there was a really awkward moment when we was literally halfway through filming. So I’ve got, like, an Avengers sleeve on my left arm and I’ve got Chris Evans tattooed on me, obviously Captain America.
Leading star and producer Margot, 35, is a huge Love Island fan and offered the former contestant a part in her Hollywood hit
‘And I seen on the call sheet that his brother was in the in that scene, so I just basically picked the guy that looked most like Chris Evans and was like, ”Oh, I’ve got your brother tattooed on my arm” and he was like, ”What?” and I was like ”yeah, your brother, I have got him tattooed on my arm” and I lifted my sleeve so I can show him.
‘He’s like, Oh, no, I’m not Chris Evans’s brother. So that was really uncomfortable because I was also in front of, like, a huge audience of people like they had an audience, but like facing me like all like supporting actors. And they were basically silent in the entire room and obviously, like, Ryan Gosling was there and so on and so forth. So yeah, quite cringey on my part.’
