Chris Packham has urged Taylor Swift to reconsider her ‘absurd’ use of private jets.
The pop megastar, 34, sent a cease-and-desist letter to social media user Jack Sweeney after he had spent months tracking the whereabouts of her private jet amid her Eras world tour.
HIs lawyers later argued that the college junior had done ‘nothing unlawful’ with his X account, but now BBC Springwatch star Chris, 63, has claimed that Taylor ‘missed a trick’ with the whole fiasco.
He told The Mirror: ‘We know that private jets are the single greatest contributor when it comes to jet aviation fuel and the least efficient because they’re carrying one person.
‘And so he called her out and she threatened to sue him. And I just thought, ‘You really missed the trick there, Taylor.’

Chris Packham has urged Taylor Swift to reconsider her ‘absurd’ use of private jets amid her spat with social media star Jack Sweeney
He added: ‘What you should have said is, ‘You’re right, times have moved on. I’ve got to change my practice. I’m going to sell my private jets’. And that would have been such a powerful thing for her to say to an audience.’
Chris also noted that because Taylor has ‘primarily a young audience’ and such a prominent cultural figure, she should be ‘leading’ the way on such matters.
The Anti-Hero songstress will be headlining Wembley Stadium in London on June 22, and on that same day, Chris will be hosting a Walk for Nature rally in the capital.
The environmentalist wants Taylor to turn up to his event and publicly declare that she is giving up her private jet use.
He said: “She should turn up on my stage and she should say: ‘I’m giving up flying on private jets.’ That would make the weekend for me. Let’s put it out there ‘
Social media star Jack Sweeney – who also tracks the flights of tech billionaire Elon Musk – previously claimed that Taylor’s private jet use emitted 83x the amount of CO2 than the average American.
He tweeted: ‘Swift’s two private jets flew 178,000 miles in 2023 equivalent to flying around the Earth seven times, emitting 1,200 tons of CO2 in the process. That’s 83 times the average American.’
Chris wants to meet Taylor when she arrives in London for her Eras tour and is hoping she will come along to his Walk for Nature rally, which is being held on the same day

Earlier this year, Taylor demanded that student Jack Sweeney stop logging her flights and location but lawyers conluded that the young man had done nothing that was against the law
Attorneys wrote the college student a cease-and-desist letter saying she would ‘have no choice but to pursue any and all legal remedies’
Earlier this year, Taylor demanded that the college student stop logging her flights and locations.
She claimed the accounts caused herself and her family ‘direct and irreparable harm, as well as emotional and physical distress,’ and heightened her ‘constant state of fear for her personal safety’.
But Jack’s accounts use publicly available data, and also share the estimates of their planet-warming emissions.
Lawyers concluded: ‘Further, your letter’s tone of alarm is unfounded. Our client’s website only provides the location of private jets using publicly available information. That information poses no threat to Ms. Swift’s safety .’
