Chris Hughes has revealed he turned his relationship with JoJo Siwa from friendship into romance by putting his feelings down on paper.
The former Love Island star, 32, and the American singer, 22, became instant friends on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year and began dating after the final.
Chris told how he went to the US to surprise JoJo for her birthday and wrote down his feelings on a piece of paper in a hotel bar in order to tell her how he really felt.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘I was confused about how I felt. Then I wasn’t confused anymore. I knew I needed to write it down to explain to her how I was feeling.
‘I went to Florida thinking ‘I really like this person’, but I was slightly confused about the feelings. I had already written her birthday card before I flew over. I took all these presents over for her. They were fun and sentimental gifts rather than anything of monetary value.

‘But the night before her birthday, I realised my feelings had changed. I told her: ‘I’ve got to go do something. I’ll be back in half an hour.’ I went to the hotel reception and borrowed a pen and came back up to the room.’
Chris said he loved JoJo as a friend at first but his feelings began to change towards the end of the series.
Up until her relationship with Chris, JoJo had identified as a lesbian and was in a relationship with Australian influencer Kath Ebbs, although they quickly broke up after she left the Big Brother house.
Chris has kept up his writing habit and said whenever he and JoJo are apart now, he still writes her letters to let her know how he’s feeling.
It comes after JoJo recently opened up about her relationship with Chris during a Q&A with her fans on Instagram.
One fan had asked: ‘What’s the best thing about dating Chris?’
JoJo replied: ‘No matter what I am feeling he is always there to help me with that feeling. Either celebrate a high one or get through a low one.’
‘He is the most fun to be around and he’s not only good to me but he’s good to everybody. Genuinely I think he’s the nicest person I know.

Another fan pointed out that the couple’s star signs were the most compatible, to which JoJo agreed that it ‘made sense.’
Meanwhile, JoJo’s ex Kath recently went Instagram official with her new romance.
The 27-year-old is in a relationship with Australian Rules footballer Tilly Lucas-Rodd, 29, and shared the first snaps of them together on Instagram on Thursday.
The photos see the loved-up pair posing in a photobooth as they shared a romantic kiss and beamed at each other.
Alongside the post, Kath wrote: ‘The rumours are true! YES I still (stupidly) believe in love!!’
Tilly is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. They are the first AFLW player to undergo top surgery and documented the procedure in an Instagram clip.
Tilly plays for the Hawthorn Football Club in Melbourne and previously played for the Carlton Football Club.
Kath first debuted the new romance when she posted two sentimental TikToks on July 18, with a sarcastic caption aimed at Dance Moms star JoJo.
‘Hope this one doesn’t cheat on me,’ Kath wrote, alongside a video of the Hawthorn player, calling the sports star their new ‘crush’.
