Chris Hughes’ Sandown Shoot: The Real Story Behind His JoJo Siwa Romance

Chris Hughes’ Sandown Shoot: The Real Story Behind His JoJo Siwa Romance

The truth behind one of Chris Hughes most eye-catching shoots has been revealed.

Snaps showed the Love Island star, 32, being supported by his girlfriend JoJo Siwa, 22, last month, as he posed in a range of outfits from different periods at Sandown Racecourse.

Now, it’s been revealed that Chris modelled a variety of looks from the last six decades to celebrate Coral’s 50-year sponsorship of the prestigious Coral-Eclipse horserace.

The star, who is a racing ambassador for the brand, usually models a three-piece suit when heading to the races, but this time rocked a series of looks that reflected the 50 years since the first Coral-Eclipse was run in 1976.

Inspired by the 1970s, Chris donned big lapels and flared trousers, while boasting a luxurious hairdo, before channelling his inner Sonny Crockett for the 1980s, modelling a Miami Vice white linen suit with rolled up sleeves and black shirt.

In homage to the Britpop era of the 1990s, he sported a curtain haircut, with coloured sunglasses and a classic Harrington jacket.

He also had fun with a Y2K inspired outfit, combining bootcut trousers, with a casual blazer and his hair swept across his forehead.

For the 2010s Chris donned a massive hat and a maroon blazer, pairing them with skinny jeans in the style of James Bay, while for the modern day, Chris wore his familiar favourite at the races, his House of Cavani suit.

Chris Hughes said: ‘I had so much fun trying to recreate these decade-defining looks and this shoot meant I could combine two of my favourite things – horseracing and fashion. I couldn’t think of a better way to pay tribute to Coral’s 50-year sponsorship of the Coral Eclipse.’

David Stevens, Head of PR at Coral said: ‘The Coral-Eclipse is the longest-running Group One sponsorship in world horseracing, and to celebrate this historic milestone of 50 years, we’ve taken Chris on a memorable, and fashionable, journey through the last six decades.’

While Chris was filming the campaign last month, his girlfriend JoJo proudly supported him, with the couple visibly smitten as they messed around between takes.

Since confirming their relationship last month, things have been heating up between them, with JoJo sharing she’s been embraced by her newfound British fanbase.

JoJo has also heavily hinted that there are plans for more shows in the UK later this year, after two performances in London back in May.

When JoJo flew back to the UK to surprise Chris last week, the Love Island star shared a telling Snapchat post, gushing that his girlfriend had ‘come home.’

JoJo spent the last week in the UK after surprising her boyfriend Chris Hughes, but on Sunday, the star shared that she was flying home to begin work on her follow-up to her last single Bulletproof.

The star, who was spotted stepping out in California on Monday, shared a lengthy Snapchat post as she prepared to board her 11-hour flight home.

While the star admitted she was sad to be leaving her boyfriend Chris after a quiet week with him, she teased that she was ready to begin work on her next track, but kept tight-lipped about its name.

It comes after JoJo reflected on the recent changes in her personal and professional life in a series of candid Instagram posts.

The dancer previously said she’s ‘never been happier,’ after she begun dating Chris , even secretly flying to the UK on Monday to surprise him after 10 days apart.

And after offering insight into the recent changes in both her professional and personal life in a shoot with YOU Magazine, JoJo took to Instagram to reflect on ‘the woman she’s becoming.’

The former child star admitted that while it is ‘scary’ to face the recent changes in her life, her shoot with the publication has helped her ‘let go of control.’

In a series of posts, she wrote: ‘Stepping into something new… and a little scary. These photos are different. They’re bold. They’re grown. They’re me.

‘For the longest time, I lived inside a sparkly little bubble – and while I love her, it’s time to find the woman I am becoming #JoJoSiwa #NewEra.’

Following her stint on Celebrity Big Brother, where she and Chris first met, JoJo has shared her time on the show has pushed her to make certain ‘changes’ in her life, after noticing things she should ‘never have been OK with.’

And she echoed this in her second post, writing: ‘This shoot pushed me. Not just to pose differently, but to feel differently. To let go of control.

”To stop asking ‘Is this what people expect from me?” and start asking, ”Is this me?” The answer is YES. So here’s to discomfort – it is where the good stuff lives. #OutOfMyComfortZone #Fearless #AdultJoJo.’

Offering a message to her fans, JoJo added: ‘To anyone afraid to change… I get it.

‘But we don’t grow inside the lines. mess it up, try it anyway, and let the world see you ❤️ Here I am. Love her, fear her, or try to figure her out — this is me.’

The star’s posts were soon flooded with comments from her friends and followers offering their support, with her close pal Tyler Cameron writing: ‘You look amazing in all of these!’

In her interview with YOU, JoJo shared that she now identifies as queer, admitting she previously felt ‘pressure’ to call herself a lesbian.

The star has sparked a social media frenzy since she confirmed she is dating Love Island star Chris, after they met on Celebrity Big Brother in April.

She said: ‘When I came out at 17, I said: ‘I’m pansexual, because I don’t care [about gender].’ But then I kind of boxed myself in and I said: ‘I’m a lesbian.’ And I think I did that because of pressure.’

The Dance Moms alum has had several relationships with women since coming out in February 2021.

‘In a weird way, I think [the pressure] came a little bit from inside the [LGBTQ] community at times. From people I know, from partners I’ve had,’ she contended.

‘You just get put in this world where you feel like, because you now have said, ‘Oh, I’m a lesbian’, you have to be a lesbian. And the truth is, sexuality is fluid.’

Reflecting on how her romance with Chris has blossomed since they left the CBB house, she added: ‘I’ll just say that it took time. It took time away and then it took time together,’ adding later that he is now ‘the favourite part of her life’.
