An innocent comment left by a well-intentioned family member inadvertently revealed Chris Evans was set to become a father, months before the world officially learned.
Four months before Chris and his wife Alba Baptista welcomed their first child together, the actor’s father-in-law Luiz Baptista posted a telling comment hinting about the star’s expanding family.
The couple had not revealed they were expecting a child, but Baptista set pregnancy rumors off after he dropped a telling comment on a fan-made Father’s Day tribute honoring both Alba and Chris’ dads.
‘Chris, your turn is coming!’ Luiz wrote on the post, which has since limited comments.
Alba, 28, gave birth to a baby girl named Alma Grace at 1:27pm in Massachusetts on Saturday, just weeks after the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary together.
According to the birth certificate, obtained by TMZ, the couple gave their daughter both of their last names. The Daily Mail previously reached out to Evans’s representatives but have not yet heard back.

While Evans has been seen at movie premieres and events in recent months, Baptista has remained largely out of the public eye.
In November 2024, Evans confirmed to Access Hollywood that he would ‘absolutely’ love to become a dad.
‘Yeah, I hope so,’ he told the outlet. ‘The title of dad is an exciting one.’
The actor was first romantically linked to the Portuguese actress in 2021, though they never publicly announced their engagement.
‘I proposed to my wife in Portuguese,’ he told The Knot in June. ‘She’s Portuguese, so I learned how to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ in Portuguese. I had practiced it all week.’
Evans said he kept practicing what he would say in her native language and almost ruined the surprise.
‘I had practiced it so much that while I’d be making breakfast and you almost just start saying it out loud,’ he recalled.
‘Like, ‘Oh God, that’s not just a song that’s stuck in my head! It’s gonna let the cat out of the bag.”

Although Evans has attended a number of movie premieres and events to promote his projects over the past few months, Baptista has remained completely out of the public eye (Evans seen last month)
Fortunately, he didn’t spoil the surprise.
‘I got really nervous when it came time to do it,’ he said. ‘I actually think I screwed it up, but I still know it.’
The couple, who share a 16-year age gap, were first romantically linked in 2021 but only publicly debuted their relationship nearly two years later.
In early 2023, the actor made their romance Instagram official when he posted a reel of them playing around and trying to scare each other at home.

‘It was really, really great. We kinda had two ceremonies,’ he recalled before explaining how they got married in both of their hometowns.

Last year, the Captain America star said they were torn between going down the ‘puppy route’ or adopting an ‘older dog’ when asked about expanding their family.
‘Anytime you see one of those stories about some eight or nine-year-old dog that gets adopted who’s had a rough life, it just kills you. And so, to some degree, that’s kind of what we’ve been thinking,’ he revealed.
And while whether to get a second dog or not is a hot topic of discussion for the couple, they haven’t acted on the urge, yet – despite Evans saying adopting Dodger eight years ago was the best decision of his life.
‘We both need a little bit of downtime for that,’ the actor said. ‘We’ve always said, ‘Well, maybe we’ll just go down to the shelter,’ and I’m like, ‘Listen, do you really think we’re going to walk down there and not leave with at least one dog?’
‘There’s no way. So if we make the decision to actually walk in the door, we’re walking out with one.’

‘Moving forward, I’ll only rescue dogs,’ Evans added. ‘That’s the new approach from now on.’
Evans previously shared a video of ‘the moment I met Dodger’ for a National Rescue Dog Day post in 2021.
‘I was filming a movie in Savannah and the scene took place at a shelter,’ he recounted.
‘I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him I knew he was coming home with me,’ Evans added.
