Cheryl Fergison has revealed she was hospitalised at the weekend and said she had been ‘in complete agony’.
The former EastEnders star, 58, took to her Instagram on Sunday to share a video telling her followers she had spent the last 24 hours in A&E.
While the actress didn’t disclose the reason for her hospital dash, she said she had been put on an IV drip of antibiotics and said she’d seen things that ‘I can’t unsee’.
However, Cheryl reassured her fans that she was doing ‘a million times better’ after the ordeal, now that she’d underdone treatment.
She also reflected on the state of the health system, praising the staff who took care of her, but calling the NHS a ‘broken system’.

In the clip, she said: ‘Hi everyone, I’ve just spent the last 24 hours in A&E at Blackpool Victoria hospital. I’ve seen things in the last 24 hours I can’t unsee. I’ve been in complete agony.
‘I’ve been made a million times better by the angels that are all of the NHS staff which I wanna thank, like, big time. When people say they don’t get paid enough – they really don’t get paid enough.
‘We’ve got a broken system. It’s gone to pot. It’s shot. But it’s still amazing and we still have it – just, by a thread.’
She added: ‘I wanna firstly say a huge thank you. I’m a lot better and when you sit for 24 hours in a chair in an A&E department being shipped off every six hours to go and get an IV, antibiotic drips, and come back again…’
Cheryl’s followers flooded the comments section with well wishes and supportive messages for the soap star.
They shared: ‘Oh Cheryl, bless you. Hope you’re feeling better and fully recover quickly. God bless ❤️; Omg hope you ok now. Sending hugs. ❤️’

Cheryl’s hospital visit comes after she hit out at Alison Hammond for getting the job of host on For The Love Of Dogs.
She insisted that the late Paul O’Grady would have wanted her to take over his role on the ITV show at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
Paul hosted the award-winning programme for 11 series and became an ambassador for the shelter in 2012, before he died last March at the age of 67.
Speaking in a TikTok live in February, Cheryl told fans: ‘You know, I can turn my hand to most things, I’m not begging for a job.
‘I’m not begging, I’m just telling you I’m perfect for a lot of jobs but you guys are not putting me up for them, letting me go for them, and I don’t know why.
‘I say good luck to Alison Hammond for getting For The Love Of Dogs. But I’m telling you now, Paul O’Grady would’ve definitely given me his blessing to do that job, because a) I have a dog, we’ve discussed our dogs quite a lot and I’ve always had dogs in my life, and erm yeah, dogs are the best, it’s that simple.’
After she was announced as the new host, This Morning star Alison said: ‘I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all.
‘I can’t wait to share the joy of their searches for new, loving, forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way.’

Cheryl came to fame playing loveable Heather Trott on EastEnders for five years, before being viciously killed by Ben Mitchell in 2012.
Her character’s death came at the decision of the soap bosses, not Cheryl herself, who previous admitted she burst into tears after being told.
She told Best magazine: ‘It was a bittersweet day. What you get with one hand, you get taken away with another!
‘When they told me Heather was for the chop, (the boss) had to get me a tissue. Sometimes a character is sacrificed to make other stories work. I get it. I knew it was going to come but it was still a shock.’
A source told The Sun at the time about her exit: ‘Heather’s character has been hugely popular over the years, but the decision has been taken to cut her out of the show before viewers tire of her.’
