Chelsea Handler has never shied away from sharing topless photos on social media, but a recent family intervention has officially put an end to her signature risqué snaps.
The comedian, who once made topless skiing photos an annual birthday tradition, has since retired the stunt—so much so that when she turned 50 in February, she was practically bundled up in a bikini top.
During a Friday appearance on the podcast What A Joke with Papa and Fortune, Chelsea was asked why fans no longer get a peek at her bare chest.
‘I think my nephews asked me to stop. And I told them this is why I didn’t have children, to not have parameters set for me by children,’ Handler explained.
‘But they said their friends at college were talking about me, and I thought, “Great. I’m relevant to college kids. Whoa, perfect. That’s all really I could have ever asked for,”’ she quipped.
‘And then I thought about it and I thought, I don’t wanna humiliate them. You know? I don’t wanna be, like, a joke.’

The topless tea follows Chelsea’s revelation in her memoir I’ll Have What She’s Having, released in February, where she shared how an iconic actress once reprimanded her.
‘I got an email from Jane Fonda one day that said, “Hi, Chelsea. It’s Jane. I was wondering if you could come over to my house for dinner. I’d like to talk to you about a couple of things,’ she wrote in the memoir.
Handler added that the email seemed ‘ominous’ and explained that she had been longtime friends with Fonda.
Because she had been friends with her already for ‘at least 10 years’ at that point, Handler said it ‘seemed like sort of a terse email to get from her.’
She recalled agreeing and said she opted out of drinking so she could ‘be fully alert for my defense.’
‘Jane’s demeanor seemed a bit cold, and I was anxious to find out exactly what I had done,’ she wrote in her memoir.
She recalled Fonda asking her if she knew why she asked her to come over.
‘”You may have noticed I was a little icy toward you when I saw you at Shonda Rhimes’ fundraiser for Congressman John Lewis,”‘ she recalled Fonda telling her.

‘”From the moment you came in, you had a black cloud hanging over you and you insulted people and it brought the whole party down.”‘
‘”I don’t know what drugs you were on, but a few people told me you were horrible to them.”‘
Handler said Fonda asked her why she attended the party if she was in ‘that kind of mood’ and said getting called out by her friend was ‘as serious as it gets.’
Handler added: ‘This was definitely not the woman I had dreamed of becoming.’
She recalled the wake-up call from Fonda was ’embarrassing, painful, and definitely cringeworthy,’ but she said she ‘didn’t let any of those things diminish the fact that Jane had taken the time out of her life to be honest with me.’
