Charlie Hunnam has been cast as the lead of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Criminal.
The 44-year-old performer is set to star as Leo, a cautious master thief whose aversion to violence sets him apart from his counterparts.
The character’s reputation is also hampered by the actions of his father Tommy, who was imprisoned for the murder of a prominent figure in the world of crime, according to Variety.
Criminal is based on the graphic novel series of the same name, which was co-created by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.
The series will be centered on several career criminals whose stories interlock and overlap while dealing with the repercussions of their predecessors’ actions.

Development on the upcoming series was initially revealed to the public in February of 2023.
Brubaker and Phillips are both set to serve as the program’s executive producers, according to Variety.
The former of the pair also wrote the script for the show’s pilot and will act as a co-showrunner with Jordan Harper.
At the time, the writer issued a statement to show his enthusiasm for the upcoming adaptation of his graphic novel series.
Brubaker said: ‘Sean and I have been building this world in our books for over a decade, and now to be able to bring it to life for Amazon is just incredible.’
The comics industry figure then showed his appreciation for Amazon’s support of the upcoming project.
‘To have Amazon support the project the way they have, and show so much faith in my and Jordan’s vision for the show is even more incredible,’ he said.
Amazon MGM Studios’ head of U.S. SVOD wholly owned development, Nick Pepper, also predicted that Prime Video’s subscribers would ‘immediately embrace this story.’

It was revealed that Richard Jenkins had been added to the cast of the show earlier this month.
The performer will also be joined by Adria Arjona and Kadeem Hardison, who are set to appear in supporting roles.
Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, who co-directed the 2019 superhero film Captain Marvel, signed on to serve in the same capacity for the show’s first four episodes this past April.
Criminal will make its debut on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service an an unspecified point in the future.
