Charli XCX has revealed she’s been working on new music with her fiancé George Daniel.
The pop star, 31, who announced her engagement to the drummer of The 1975, last month, has been in the studio laying down tracks for her next album, and she’s been teaming up with her husband-to-be on the new material.
She told the Spout podcast: ‘We’ve done a couple of things together. We’ve got a few ideas in the works.
‘It’s funny, I have never been in a relationship with someone that I’ve worked with, so it’s like a whole new dynamic, but it’s cool.
‘There will probably be a couple of songs that he’s worked on with me.’

She has enjoyed seeing George, 33, and his bandmate Matty Healy collaborating in the studio, and learning from the way they have a ‘totally different’ process to her.
She explained: ‘They take a lot of time when they are making a record and generally in the past I have been very fast.
‘That used to be part of my process, this spontaneous, instinctual thing.
‘Being around them, I have definitely adapted to the idea of sitting on songs, re-working things, playing them to friends, going back and forth and just living with the songs a bit more, so that is one way that my process has been perfected.’
Meanwhile, the Boom Clap hitmaker admitted she finds it too ‘stressful’ as a musician being sent other people’s songs ahead of time to get some feedback.
She added: ‘It is so stressful having another pop star’s music on your phone. It’s like walking around with a bomb in your bag. It is so stressful.’
Charli and George first worked together in 2021, when they joined forces to record Spinning.

She shared a carousel of images. including a romantic snap of George, 33, dipping her while the pair shared a kiss.
In another picture, Charli – whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison – showed off her diamond engagement ring in a box between two cups of tea.
The pair first sparked dating rumours in March 2022 when they were spotted holding hands on a stroll through New York City.
Her record label, Atlantic Records, took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing: ‘Major congratulations to @charli_xcx and George Daniel on their engagement.’
The couple were soon congratulated by their celebrity friends, as 1975 frontman Matty Healy wrote: ‘I cry.’

Just hours earlier Charli had prompted speculation that she was engaged after she uploaded a selfie wearing a glittering diamond ring .
The picture was posted on her private Instagram account 360_brats and started circulating on social media.
While some believe the silver band is an engagement ring, others said it is actually on her right hand with the camera flipping the image to look like it is on the left.
However the songstress later confirmed the news in the evening with her sweet post.

Charli and George went public with their relationship in May last year.

Charli and George first crossed paths when they worked on her song Spinning and collaborated once again on her album crash.
Of their songwriting partnership, Charli previously told The Sun: ‘Now that I’m in a relationship with another musician he’s influenced me a lot with his process and how he and his band work.
‘It’s really different to how I work and that has definitely influenced me and my process. I used to be very, “Quick, quick, quick, album a month, let’s go”.
‘Now I’m like, “Oh, maybe it’s cool to take some time and live in the music that you create.” My process is definitely evolving.’
Before her relationship with George, Charli was in a long term relationship with Huck Kwong.
The couple were together for over seven years but split after previously revealing how quarantining together during lockdown ‘saved their relationship’.
It’s a busy time for Charli as she has teamed up with fellow pop singer Sam Smith on her new track In The City, which has been described as a disco song for nightclubs.
She previously explained the song was about ‘connecting’ with others on wild nights out.
She said: ‘The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places.’

She also noted that it served as a way of ‘accepting’ those in the queer community.
She added: ‘It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once in a lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there.’
Charli first rose to prominence in 2012 with her Icona Pop collaboration I Love It and that same year she contributed to Iggy Azalea’s Fancy.
In 2023 Charli released Speed Drive, which was featured on the Barbie soundtrack and became a TikTok sensation.
