A Channel Seven gaffe has left Aussies – and Channel Ten star Melanie Bracewell – in stitches.
The Cheap Seats host was in a fit of giggles alongside her co-anchor Tim McDonald as they rewatched a segment showing 7News Melbourne’s Peter Mitchell mid-broadcast.
In the clip, Peter could be seen announcing an exciting new development in women’s health, however things went wrong very quickly when a production failure provided comedy gold.
‘Australian women are being given more choice when it comes to contraceptives,’ Peter began.
‘From Saturday, NuvaRing will be added to the PBS,’ he shared, as the wrong video played on the screen, showing a car speeding, skidding and crashing into a sign.
The video was met with uncontainable laughter from the producers in the studio.

‘Oh, that’s clearly the wrong story,’ Peter awkwardly pointed out.
Melanie hilariously poked fun at the gaffe on The Cheap Seats.
‘You just wanna get that Mirena, get that. Come on, get that IUD,’ she could be heard saying as she pumped her fist in the air.
The 30-year-old then quipped: ‘Wait, you can get an IUD and a DUI! That’s amazing!’
This isn’t the first live gaffe Peter has suffered while presenting a broadcast.
In 2021, Peter took a sip of water during the 6pm news bulletin but didn’t realise the cameras were still rolling.
The presenter was unaware he was on air and thought it was a commercial break.
A producer could then be heard saying something off camera and Peter looked visibly shocked as he quickly set the bottle aside and read the next segment.

The video then switched to Melanie Bracewell (pictured), who hilariously poked fun at the gaffe
At the end of the package, Peter told viewers: ‘Just having a drink of water.’
That same year, Peter became Channel Seven Melbourne’s longest-serving newsreader, having spent 21 years at the network.
‘It’s an interesting milestone, something I never thought I’d get to and to be the longest-serving news presenter at Seven is something I’m very proud of,’ he told The Herald Sun.
‘It’s been a wild ride, no doubt about it, never a dull moment.
‘I’ve only worked in two newsrooms, it’s quite bizarre, you say that to people that you’ve only had two bosses and been in the business for 44 years now — I pinch myself all the time to think how did this unfold and I just love it,’ he said.
