Chad Michael Murray declined to go into detail when asked about his ex Erin Foster’s accusation that he had cheated on her with Sophia Bush. 

The 42-year-old actor was asked by E! about the claims made by Foster, 41, that he had been unfaithful on her in ‘a pretty egregious way’ with Bush, 41.

The Buffalo, New York-born actor replied, ‘It’s not one of those things that I want to go down the road of because there’s just never a winner.’

Murray, who portrayed the role of Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill alongside Bush, said that he feels ‘blessed’ to be where he is ‘right now.’

Said the actor: ‘I live in the now, I live in the present, I live in the future. Things have changed so dramatically for me since I was a young man that I just try to live in this space – always.’

Murray, who has also been seen on Riverdale, Dawson’s Creek and Gilmore Girls, said he avoids speaking unpleasantly about others.

‘I don’t think you’ll ever find me saying anything negative or hurtful about anybody,’ Murray told the outlet. ‘I never will. That’s just not me. I’m not going to do it.’

Murray and Foster were romantically involved between 2001 to 2002, and he began dating Bush in 2003, tying the knot two years later. Their marriage was short-lived, as they revealed they were splitting after five months.

Murray added to the outlet, ‘I have more regrets in my life than I care to think about, but I don’t live in the past.

‘I try to move forward every single day and just go, “I got air in my lungs, life in my step, the will to move forward and the sun’s gonna rise on a beautiful tomorrow.”‘

Foster last month made the allegation during a conversation with her sister Sara on The World’s First Podcast, bringing up the alleged affair after a fan wrote in and asked them to share ‘good’ dating stories.

Erin then referenced a post previously made by the gossip page DeuxMoi that said Murray ‘apparently cheated on her’ with Bush – only to confirm it.

‘I mean, yeah. He definitely did cheat on me with her, in like, a pretty egregious way,’ said Erin, the daughter of legendary musician David Foster. ‘While we were living together. Pretty cool.’

Erin’s revelation came amid Bush’s new romance with women’s soccer star Ashlyn Harris, 39 — whose recent ex-wife Ali Krieger implied that Harris cheated on her with Bush before filing for divorce in mid-September.

Bush and Murray officially began dating in 2003 and tied the knot in 2005.

The couple said ‘I do’ in Santa Monica before celebrating at Hotel Casa del Mar with their friends and family, but the costars shocked fans when they split just five months later. 

Bush attempted to get the marriage annulled on her grounds of fraud, but her efforts were unsuccessful, and the divorce was ultimately finalized in 2006.

‘This is a difficult and unfortunate situation. I am glad this is being resolved sooner rather than later,’ she said in a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time of the finalization. 

Recounting their relationship in 2014, she said on Watch What Happens Live:  ‘We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place.’

‘To all the other costars who’ve worked it out, more power to you.’

Bush recently has been linked to Harris, a retired United States soccer star and World Cup winner.

‘After being friends for years, and running in the same social circles, Sophia and Ashlyn went out on their first dinner date a couple of weeks ago,’ a source told People last month. ‘This is so recent, and they are both beginning new chapters.’

An insider added to Page Six that Bush and Harris’ relationship is ‘very new, they are definitely a couple,’ while a TMZ source said the pair were ‘officially a thing’.

Bush and Harris were also recently seen together in photos shared online by Canadian soccer star Selenia Iacchelli.

Harris called it quits from soccer in November 2022, and Krieger decided to do the same in March 2023.

She told CBS Morning that the 2023 NWSL season would be her final act on the field, as she wanted to dedicate more time to hanging out with her two little ones.

A source told People last month: ‘Although it’s new information to the public, Ashlyn and Ali’s divorce began months ago and they have been living apart since the summer’.

The insider added that ‘there is no salacious story’ with Bush and Harris’ new romance.

The actress and her ex-husband Grant Hughes decided to go their separate ways just seven weeks after celebrating their first anniversary in August.

At the time, she removed his last name from her Instagram bio and deleted photos of the couple.

On Wednesday, Hughes broke his silence on her new romance with Harris.

His rep told Page Six, ‘Grant will always want the best for Sophia, and is supportive of all that makes her happy and fulfilled.’

Though she’s yet to publicly acknowledge the romance, Harris’ ex Krieger did seemingly confirm rumors that her ex-wife cheated on her with the actress.

It emerged last week that the former USWNT soccer stars were breaking up after four years of marriage with their relationship ‘irretrievably broken’.

They share two adopted children: daughter Sloane, two, and son Ocean, 15 months.

Since then, rumors have swirled that Harris is already dating Bush and judging by Krieger’s latest post, it appears that there was some overlap.

Posting a picture of herself in practice, Kreiger wrote: ‘Preparing for playoffs while in my Beyoncé lemonade era.’

That 2016 Beyoncé record, of course, addresses her husband Jay-Z’s infidelity as a recurring theme.
