The daughter of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones is opening up about her mother helped cultivate her fashion sense.
The 22-year-old’s actress mother wasn’t on hand when she joined her 81-year-old father at the 2025 PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala at New York City’s Perelman Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, but her presence was still felt.
While chatting with People at the event, Carys revealed the clothing she regularly steals from the 56-year-old actress — who showed off her stellar figure earlier this week — to built her own clothing collection.
Douglas and Zeta-Jones’ nepo baby daughter, who studied film and international relations while attending Brown University, said she tries to avoid disposable fast fashion, and her mother’s vast collection of designer outfits cultivated over decades certainly makes that easier.
‘I feel I love vintage clothes,’ Carys shared. ‘I don’t really like to buy. I’m not really into fast fashion stuff, just for sustainability reasons, so I feel very lucky that I have a wonderful closet that I can pick from.’
Although she’s able to cobble ensembles together from her mother’s closet, Carys admitted that she has a bad habit of not telling Zeta-Jones when she’s borrowing some of her clothes, which she does ‘a little too much.’

The aspiring actress recounted the awkward exchanges she has with her mother when she spots her with the spoils from her closet.
‘She’s like, “Is that my bag?’ I’m like, “I don’t know. I don’t think so,”‘ Carys chuckled.
She and her mother have had a chance to bond over fashion in the past, including in 2017, when they sat together in the front row at the Michael Kors show for New York Fashion Week in 2017.
The mother–daughter duo have also had opportunities to show off their most stunning looks on the red carpet, including a 2023 trip to the Cannes Film Festival when they posed together.
At the gala, Carys signaled that she was interested in delving further into the arts now that she was finished with college.
‘I grew up doing theater, and I didn’t study acting in school, but that’s why I’m happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that,’ she told the publication.
She may have signaled that change in direction after starring in the short films Shell and F*** That Guy in 2024, the latter of which was executive-produced by Spike Lee and starred the Haunting Of Hill House actress Victoria Pedretti.
In addition to Carys, Douglas and Zeta-Jones share an older son, 25-year-old Dylan Douglas.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones also share 25-year-old son Dylan Douglas, and Douglas has an older son, 46-year-old Cameron Douglas, from his first marriage to Diandra Luker; Zeta-Jones and Douglas pictured in December 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Dylan seems to be following in his parents’ footsteps as an actor. He dabbled with voice acting with a 2011 role on Phineas And Ferb, but Variety reported in March that he’ll be making his on-screen debut in the psychological thriller I Will Come To You.
He’s reportedly playing the lead role in the film, as well as producing it.
Douglas also shares an older son, 46-year-old Cameron Douglas, from his first marriage to Diandra Luker.Â
Like his siblings, Cameron has pursued the family business and even acted with his father in the film Looking Through Water, which also starred David Morse and was released in September.Â
