Oasis aren’t the only band to make 2025 the summer of reunions.

As fans swarmed to Wembley for the fifth sold out night of the brit pop’s duo tour in London, across the capital another rock band were also celebrating their return to the stage.

Catfish and the Bottlemen took to the stage at Tottenham Hotspurs stadium on Sunday night for their first show in London since 2019 as part of their comeback 2025 shows.

Last year music fans mocked the Welsh rockband, made up of lead singer Van McCann and bassist Benji Blakeway, claiming that their ‘ambitious’ 2025 arena tour would be overshadowed by the return of Oasis.

However despite not selling out, Catfish proved to their loyal fanbase they have still got it as they made their way through their catalogue of hits in an energetic rock and roll performance.

Opening with Longshot, the setlist was full of fan favourites including Soundcheck, 7 and Homesick.

At one point a dozen inflatable crocodiles were thrown into a crowd, a nod to the artwork of the band’s second album, The Ride.

Van went on to perform a solo version of Heathrow as well as an acoustic version of Hourglass.

A man of few words, the singer kept his addresses to the crowd at a minimum as he thanked fans for their support.

Their penultimate song was of course their biggest hit Cocoon before the band delighted fans with their tour debut of Tyrants.

The band soared to fame back in 2014 with the release of their debut album The Balcony, featuring hit tracks Cocoon and Kathleen.

They went on to win Best British Breakthrough Act at the Brits in 2016 before releasing following albums The Ride that same year and The Balcony in 2019.

However it has been a tumultuous few years for the band after original members drummer Bob Hall and guitarist Johnny Bond announced they were leaving the band.

Then after an extended break from live shows, Van and Benji returned to the stage at Reading and Leeds Festival last summer.

But it wasn’t long before they faced backlash once again after they cancelled their show in Dublin last September due to illness, just 15 minutes before doors were due to open at the RDS Simmonscourt venue in Dublin.

They also went on to cancel both their US and Australian tour last Autumn.

Catfish issued no official statement providing reason for the cancellations and the dates were not rescheduled.

However this summer the group have been back playing on home soil performing a sold out gig at Manchester Heaton park and stadium shows in both London and Cardiff.
