The Project host Waleed Aly loses it over identical twins who speak in unison – after the siblings went viral over Queensland carjacking interview

Veteran TV host Waleed Aley was left stunned on Wednesday’s episode of The Project after interviewing Australian twins Bridgette and Paula Powers.

The sisters appeared on Channel 10’s panel show after going viral with a news clip in which they could be seen speaking in near perfect unison.

The 47-year-old pair made headlines when they relayed their experience witnessing a carjacking and shooting on Queensland’s Bruce Highway on Tuesday.

Their interview in which they gave an identical, word-for-word explanation at the exact time left Waleed scrambling for an explanation.

Asking the women ‘how’ they could speak in this way the pair replied in unison,

‘We don’t know why. We have tried to talk separately but it’s not ourselves. It’s not us. ‘We don’t care about the critics.

‘If you can’t stand lasting to us switch off the TV.’

Elsewhere in the chat Waleed could hardly contain his astonished response.

‘Sorry I’m still blown away with what’s happening here,’ he said.

He then asked the sisters whether they could make a distinction between their own thoughts and that of their sibling.

‘We wish we could know ourselves,’ they answered together, adding,

‘I wish we could answer that.’

Waleed signed off the segment with a surprising admission.

‘I reckon I might have done 10 to 15,000 interviews… not one has been was like, this is extraordinary.’

It comes after the Powers twins recounted the terrifying moment their mother came face-to-face with an alleged gunman – in a bizarre TV interview where they give an identical, word-for-word explanation at the exact same time.

An alleged gunman is alleged to have caused a crash on Queensland’s Bruce Highway that killed a woman.

The gunman is alleged to have shot a Good Samaritan in the arm while on a carjacking spree as he fled the crash scene.

Twins Bridgette and Paula witnessed the chaos firsthand, and their interview – where they answered a journalist’s questions in unison – quickly went viral.

The pair described how their mother, who had rushed to help a crash victim, suddenly found herself confronting the alleged gunman emerging from the wreckage.

‘And one guy, he was up there with our mum… he goes, ‘run, he’s got a gun’,’ one sister said, while the other mimicked her speech exactly, word for word.

‘And our heart started to pound. And I said, ‘Oh, mum, where’s mum?’ – and poor mum was stuck up there.

‘She goes, “Are you alright?” because he had all blood all over his face and he goes, “I’ll shoot you.”‘

In a split-second decision, their mum distracted the alleged gunman and bolted into the surrounding bushland.

Thankfully, the twins and their mother were able to escape the chaos safely.

Their interview made headlines around the world, with US media and politics news website Mediaite describing their perfectly in unison recount as ‘surreal’.

Bridgette and Paula previously caught the attention of media after it was revealed they have their own language and wear matching clothes every day.

As children, the twins were taken under the wing of late wildlife warrior Steve Irwin.

They now run a rescue sanctuary for seabirds.

The Project stars share ‘shock’ over the death of Pope Francis as they react to the sad news live on air: ‘Oh my god’

The stars of The Project were shaken to hear the news of the death of Pope Francis as they went live to air on Monday evening.

The Australian current affairs team shared their ‘shock’ over finding out that the beloved religious leader had died at the age of 88 at 7.35am local time (5.35am GMT) on Sunday.

‘It’s one of those weird sort of news stories where you have an expectation that something like this is about to arrive, and then when it actually does, you’re suddenly caught by surprise’ host Waleed Aly said.

His rattled co-host Georgie Tunny chimed in: ‘There’s still a shock.’

‘Such a shock’ Sam Taunton agreed.

‘We got ready to do the show, we had gathered at this desk, and then we got the news. And everyone, all the crew, was like, “Oh my god!”

‘There’s very few things that hit quite like this’ Sam added.

Guest host Jessie Stephens shared her own shock as she said: ‘I think, because he was seen yesterday, on Easter Sunday, in Rome, and also met with JD Vance at the end of last week. In his position, he was still working up until his very last days.’

Aly added: ‘The JD Vance thing is really interesting too. For him to be meeting a figure like that.

‘Let’s just say – there’s a lot of about JD Vance’s view of the world that isn’t in alignment with Pope Francis’s view of the world, his statements of support for minority groups, poor people, that’s just extraordinary.

‘That would be an energetic meeting.’

Stephens agreed: ‘He was openly critical of some of those policies.’

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday aged 88 after dedicating his ‘entire life’ to serving God and the Church, the Vatican announced today.

The Pontiff spent his final hours with faithful, emerging to bless thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday and touring the piazza in the Popemobile to wild cheers and applause after being discharged from hospital only last month.

Francis had briefly met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance for a ‘quick and private’ meeting at the Casa Santa Marta residence in Vatican City earlier on Sunday.

He was hoped to be making a steady recovery from double pneumonia before Cardinal Kevin Ferrell, the Vatican camerlengo, announced that he had died at 7.35am local time (5.35am GMT) today.

‘With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite, merciful love of God, One and Tribune,’ he said in a statement.

Francis had only left hospital under ‘protected discharge’ on March 23 after suffering an infection that developed into pneumonia in both lungs earlier this year.

But he resolutely toured through the crowd of 35,000 believers ‘for 50 minutes at 21 degrees’ on Sunday after giving the traditional Urbi et Orbi benediction and wishing Catholics a ‘Happy Easter’ and calling for an end to conflicts around the world.

The Conclave – where cardinals gather in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican to choose a successor – will not happen for at least 15 days.

Francis’s body will lie in state in St Peter’s Basilica during an official mourning period, and then – in contrast to most of his predecessors – he will be buried in the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome’s Esquilino neighbourhood.

Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni said the news of Francis’ death ‘deeply saddens us, as we are saying goodbye to a great man and a great shepherd. I had the privilege of enjoying his friendship, his counsel and his teachings, which never failed me, not even in times of trial and suffering.’

The White House published a pithy statement on X, saying: ‘Rest in Peace, Pope Francis.’

Stephens said of her own shock: 'I think, because he was seen yesterday, on Easter Sunday, in Rome, and also met with JD Vance at the end of last week. In his position, he was still working up until his very last days.' Pope Francis is pictured with Vance

French President Emmanuel Macron, whose country is largely Catholic, also shared his condolences in a post on X.

‘From Buenos Aires to Rome, Pope Francis wanted the Church to bring joy and hope to the poorest. For it to unite humans among themselves, and with nature. May this hope forever outlast him.’

The bells at Paris’s Notre-Dame cathedral rang out 88 times on Monday in honour of Pope Francis who died aged 88, an AFP reporter at the scene said.

The ’88 rings for 88 years of life’ were to be followed by a full ringing of the cathedral’s bells before a noon mass in Francis’s honour, followed by another in early evening, according to the Notre-Dame press office.

The Project’s Steve Price launches foul-mouthed spray over woman who paid $100 to have used sneakers delivered to nightclub because her heels hurt: ‘Over-privileged w**k’

Steve Price was not impressed by a news story presented on Monday’s episode of the Project.

The 70-year-old commentator launched a foul-mouthed spray when he heard that a young woman had paid $100 to have sneakers delivered to Ivy nightclub in Sydney just because her heels were hurting her feet.

‘A Sydney woman’s gone viral after using Airtasker to overcome painful high heels’ co-host Georgie Tunny explained.

‘At 1am she offered to may 100 bucks to anyone who would bring sneakers to the club she was at’ she continued.

‘Someone came through, and her followers applauded her, calling it genius hack.’

Price crinkled his face in disgust and let loose, mincing no words as he shared his opinion.

‘Don’t be stupid. That’s the most ridiculous, over-privileged w**ky thing I’ve heard of’ he said.

‘That woman has too much money.  She got secondhand smelly sneakers’ Steve added.

Georgie however said that in her clubbing days, she would absolutely have paid that to spare her feet.

However, the journalist said that she does not wear heels at all while going out these days.

Tommy Little continues to fuel dating rumours as he returns to fire-breathing – while Carrie Bickmore watches in awe

Tommy Little is happily playing with fire again – and Carrie Bickmore is adding to the flames.

The comedian, 40, reshared an image on his Instagram story on Wednesday showing him fire-breathing onstage during his I’m Not Proud tour, which is currently in Adelaide.

In the footage, which was initially shared by attendee Aimee Ratcliffe, Little is seen on bended knee with his mouth wide open as a woman holds a wand alight with flames over his tongue.

However, eagle-eyed fans spotted Carrie, 44, his Hit radio co-host and rumoured beau, in the background as she watched on in awe.

Carrie looked red hot in a tight-fitting, midi-length red dress, gasping at the truly remarkable fire show and fuelling the romance rumours between her and the comedian.

The clip comes after the comedian candidly admitted to learning the dangerous stunt in the past in order to impress a girl.

While it didn’t work the first time, fans are holding thumbs that round two did the trick as speculation runs rampant over his relationship status with former Project star Carrie.

He and Carrie have made a number of appearances together in the past couple of weeks, cuddling up at a golf tournament in Adelaide and enjoying a trip to Uluru together.

Carrie shared a sweet photo to Instagram of herself and Tommy embracing one another and smiling at the LIV golf tournament.

The radio presenter looked half her age in a thigh-grazing navy mini skirt and matching button up shirt.

She completed her look with a pair of brown shoes, silver earrings and sunglasses.

Carrie was joined by Tommy, who also looked stylish in a printed buttoned shirt, black pants and a pair of white sneakers.

The week before, Carrie and Tommy enjoyed a trip to Uluru.

The pair and their HIT FM news anchor Jesse Watkins visited the famous monolith as guests of Tourism Northern Territory.

In a video montage of the experience posted to Instagram, Carrie and Tommy can be seen sipping champagne and taking in quiet moments together at sunrise.

Carrie, dressed in a vibrant floral jumpsuit, filmed the sun setting behind Uluru in one clip, and Tommy leaned in to whisper something in her ear.

In the next clip, Jesse filmed the duo strolling away from the view point together, before wedging himself in-between the co-hosts and wrapping his arms around both of them.

Carrie patted Jesse’s waist three times as he broke up the otherwise cosy moment between her and Tommy.

The video was paired with The Kid Laroi’s love song Nights Like This, which Carrie also quotes in her caption.

The pair have been the subject of romance rumours ever since they hosted their HIT FM radio show from Paris, France in 2023.

In November, they were spotted cuddling up for a photo behind-the-scenes at the ACRAs after skipping the red carpet altogether.

The Project’s Sarah Harris left disgusted as Waleed Aly and Sam Taunton strip off and share a bath in wild video: ‘I vomited in my mouth’

Waleed Aly has appeared in a bizarre comedy skit with comedian Sam Taunton during Tuesday’s episode of The Project.

The pair were seen ‘taking a bath’ together in the cringey segment which mortified co-host Sarah Harris.

‘I vomited in my mouth a little bit,’ she said after watching the playback which featured Waleed and Sam sitting at either end of an elegant tub filled with bubbles.

However, the twisted skit was actually an AI generated ‘deep fake’ video.

The clip was part of a report that covered a recent AI generated deep fake video in which President Trump can be seen sucking the toes of Elon Musk.

Sarah told viewers that the clip was played on a loop on public display monitors at the US Department of Housing.

The humorous video of President Trump and Musk  included the caption, ‘Love live the Real King’.

After viewing the disturbing video of the US President and the head of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Sam joked: ‘So it’s not normal when your boss asks you to suck his toes.’

Later in the segment Project panelist Kate Langbroek commentd that the US video was an attempt to mock President Trump.

‘You know what they are trying to do – they’re trying to psyche out Trump by saying that Elon is the boss – the real King,’ she said.

Meanwhile, Sarah introduced the AI deep fake of Sam and Waleed.

‘You should have seen the weird AI loop we had in our offices at lunch time.’

‘I think some people’s dreams came true watching that,’ Sam joked after watching the playback of himself and Waleed playing in the bath water.

‘When did we do that it was 8.30 when we did that,’ he quipped.

Kate then added: ‘Is there room for three.’

It comes after Robert Irwin left The Project host Sarah Harris blushing during his appearance on the Channel Ten show on Sunday night.

The celebrity conservationist, 21, was presenting the program as a guest panelist when Sam Taunton challenged him to an arm wrestle.

‘I reckon I could beat you in an arm wrestle,’ Sam said.

‘You reckon. Do you want to put that to the test right here, right now?’ Robert responded.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! host then removed his jacket to reveal his bulging biceps in a tight white T-shirt, leaving Sarah visibly flustered.

‘Let’s go,’ Robert said before winning the challenge.

An impressed Sarah cheered Robert on, before Sam joked: ‘I hope my girlfriend wasn’t watching that because a 21-year-old just beat me.’

Viewers flocked to social media to praise the conservationist on his impressive skills.

‘That’s Steve Irwin’s son, what made you think a mere human stands a chance?’ one person wrote.

‘No son of a crocodile hunter is losing an arm wrestle to a human haha,’ another said.

‘I knew the guy was doomed before Robert took the jacket off,’ a third wrote, while one added: ‘Never challenge a man who wrestles crocodiles.’

  • The Project host Sarah Harris shocks co-stars with wild ‘wee’ confession

The Project host Sarah Harris shocks co-stars with wild ‘wee’ confession

Sarah Harris stunned The Project viewers on Tuesday night when she made a shocking ‘wee’ confession.

The TV presenter, 43, left her co-hosts wide-eyed when she revealed she has urinated in the South Bank public Boat Pool in Brisbane.

She admitted that ‘everyone wees’ at the pool, which is a large lagoon open to the public, before appalling her colleagues when she confessed to doing it herself.

Her admission came during a segment about American musician FINNEAS who recently said he didn’t understand why Brisbanites seemingly ‘hated’ South Bank.

Comedian Kate Langbroek suggested the locals’ disdain may be because of the rumour that the famous South Bank Boat Pool is ‘full of urine’.

‘Everyone wees at South Bank,’ Sarah quickly cut in. ‘I’ve weed at South Bank.’

The Project host Sarah Harris shocks co-stars with wild ‘wee’ confession

Sarah Harris, 43, (pictured) stunned The Project viewers on Tuesday night when she made a shocking ‘wee’ confession

Fellow hosts Sam Taunton and Waleed Aly were stunned by the sudden confession, while Kate, 59, attempted to brush it off.

‘It’s a massive body of water. It’s like saying, “People wee in the ocean.” It’s a victimless crime,’ Kate said.

However, Sam was still reeling over Sarah’s bathroom habits, as he said: ‘Can we just go back? You weed in the pool at South Bank?’

‘Yeah. It was a long time ago,’ Sarah responded defensively.

The shocking admission comes after Sarah revealed why she doesn’t wear G-string bikinis as she weighed in on the debate about the revealing frock.

The TV host gave her candid thoughts on the beachwear item on The Project recently while discussing a ban on them that has been issued by a list of swimming pools.

Blue Mountains Leisure Centres (BMLC), an arm of the Blue Mountains City Council, sparked backlash by declaring that G-strings are ‘not acceptable’ at its facilities.

Weighing in on the controversial move, Sarah insisted she has no problem with people wearing thong bikinis but revealed why she won’t be wearing one herself.

She quipped: ‘I wish I could wear them! My bum looks like a garbage bag filled with cottage cheese! I think if you’ve got it, flaunt it.’

Sarah—who shares two sons Paul, seven, and Harry, five, with her ex-husband Tom Ward—also hit back at critics who claim that G-string bikinis are not family friendly.

‘A lot of the comments have been, “What will the kids think?” I spend a lot of time at the beach with my kids, they’re not looking,’ she added.

Her co-host Georgie Tunny agreed with her sentiments as she shared her bewilderment over people’s opposition to thong swimwear.

‘I just don’t care, I don’t care what people are wearing, if they feel confident enough to wear that then I’m happy for them to do it, I wish I was one of you,’ she said.

G-string swimwear was banned at Katoomba Sports and Aquatic Centre, Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Blackheath Pool and Glenbrook Swim Centre in the Blue Mountains.

The BMLC’s terms of entry state that ‘patrons are encouraged to shower thoroughly before entering the pool and recognised swim wear must be worn’.

‘Recognised swimwear does not include G-strings,’ the conditions add.

She admitted that 'everyone wees' at the pool, which is a large lagoon open to the public, before appalling her colleagues when she confessed to doing it herself

She admitted that ‘everyone wees’ at the pool, which is a large lagoon open to the public, before appalling her colleagues when she confessed to doing it herself

The council was forced to explain what it meant after swimmers noticed a sign that ruled ‘revealing swimwear/thongs’ were banned, which prompted some backlash.

The council then clarified online: ‘The image of “Revealing Swimwear/Thongs” has raised some eyebrows, this image refers to thongs and G-strings not bikini tops and bottoms.

‘Bikinis are acceptable and considered recognised swimwear.’

A number of locals were perplexed by the ban of the popular style of swimwear and it prompted some divisive backlash.

‘Shouldn’t people go to the pool to SWIM and not to worry about what other people are wearing,’ one said.

‘How about we solve this by placing the responsibility with the person having feelings about somebody else’s clothes and not the kids wearing them,’ a second local said.

‘Young people will wear what’s fashionable and these are what are fashionable. If you don’t like it, don’t look.’

A third urged others to ‘stop worrying or commenting about how other people look or what they are wearing’.

‘If someone is so offended by a cheeky G-string bikini, then don’t wear one and don’t look at others wearing them,’ they wrote.

‘There’s lots of bodies at the pool that I don’t enjoy looking at, they still have every right to be there and wear what they want.

‘This policy is so old fashioned and outdated in my opinion.’

But others said they didn’t see an issue with the ban, adding that there is still swimwear they can wear at the pool.

‘I don’t see the problem here. People are taking this out of context. It’s not like they’re saying cover everything up,’ a user wrote.

‘There are so many kids who innocently swim and enjoy, only to see many sets of butt cheeks walking by which I actually find ridiculous,’ another said.

A Blue Mountains City Council spokesperson there has been ‘no change’ to the council’s policy regarding swimwear.

‘Omg his Mum!!!! Does not look her age!! Wow!’ said another astonished viewer.

Another fan added: ‘Happy birthday Pricey. Agree with everyone, what a stunner his mum is!’

It comes after The Project co-host Sarah Harris recently revealed why she doesn’t wear G-string bikinis as she weighed into the debate around the revealing underwear during a segment on the show earlier this month.

The TV host, 43, gave her candid thoughts on the beachwear item while discussing a ban on them that has been issued by a list of swimming pools.

Sarah – who shares two sons Paul, seven, and Harry, five, with her ex-husband Tom Ward – also hit back at critics who claim that G-string bikinis are not family friendly.

‘A lot of the comments have been ”what will the kids think?”, I spend a lot of time at the beach with my kids, they’re not looking,’ she added.

Her co-host Georgie Tunny agreed with her sentiments as she shared her bewilderment over people’s opposition to thong swimwear.

‘I just don’t care, I don’t care what people are wearing, if they feel confident enough to wear that then I’m all happy for them to do it, I wish I was one of you, but alas,’ she said.

The council was forced to explain what it meant after swimmers noticed a sign that ruled ‘revealing swimwear/thongs’ were banned, which prompted some backlash.

The council then clarified online: ‘The image of ”Revealing Swimwear/Thongs” has raised some eyebrows, this image refers to thongs and G-strings not bikini tops and bottoms.

‘Bikinis are acceptable and considered recognised swimwear.’

A Blue Mountains City Council spokesperson there has been ‘no change’ to the council’s policy regarding swimwear.

The Project viewers slam star Rove McManus and accuse him of bringing unwanted changes to the long-running panel show

The Project viewers have slammed co-host Rove McManus’ presenting style and claimed he doesn’t fit in well with the show’s established format.

Upset fans have taken to the Media Spy forums to claim McManus, who co-hosts the Channel Ten panel show on Fridays, is not a good fit for the show.

‘I would love to see the ratings figures on the nights Rove hosts compared to the nights he doesn’t as I find his presenting style unwatchable,’ one viewer sniped.

‘I personally think his want for control of the show comes back to short man syndrome.’

Meanwhile, another person claimed they heard McManus was difficult to work with behind the scenes, which is why the program felt different when he was co-hosting.

‘From what I understand, Rove is increasingly difficult to work with on that show. He has a huge amount of sway but doesn’t love news and the news producers find it hard to work with him when he’s presenting.

The Project viewers have slammed co-host Rove McManus’ (pictured) presenting style and claimed he doesn’t fit in well with the shows established format

‘He’s very controlling on the content and delivery when at the desk.’

However, another person jumped to the veteran presenter’s defence, and said McManus was a great addition to the show as he added some variety to it.

‘Rove has been the Friday host for a while now, and they take a less-newsy approach on Fridays. He’s quite good on the show in my opinion.’

Another added, ‘Friday show should be the norm in my opinion – I quite like the dynamic that team has’.

Daily Mail Australia has approached Rove McManus for comment.

McManus has been involved with The Project since it began in 2009, as he helped create the series through his production company Roving Enterprises, which continues to develop it.

In October, the veteran presenter made a huge announcement about his future on the hit Channel Ten current affairs show in a rare sit-down interview.

The comedian was asked about his upcoming projects during a candid chat with Jordy Lucas and Alexandria Funnell on their That’s Showbiz, Baby podcast.

McManus has been involved with The Project since it began in 2009, as he helped create the series through his production company Roving Enterprises, which continues to develop it

Admitting he had many ‘irons in the fire’, the triple Gold Logie winner then teased that his role at The Project could become permanent.

Rove has done numerous stints as a guest presenter on the show over the years and returned once again in 2023, but didn’t expect it to become a more permanent gig.

‘I kind of stumbled back into it. It wasn’t my decision to come back, I was asked and I thought I was just filling in for a couple of months at the end of last year,’ he began.

‘And then it was like: “do you want to keep going into this year?”, and now we’re talking about next year.’

In an exciting announcement, McManus said he is likely to become a ‘permanent Friday fixture’ on The Project and said he hoped to bring a lighter edge to the program.

‘What I’m trying to do is maybe see if we can do something different with the show on a Friday, so it has a different feel,’ he continued.

‘Maybe then looking at what next year could be with that if that’s now a permanent position for me, which seems like it might well be.’

He said the permanency that the gig offers is attractive, given the often transient nature of the entertainment industry.

‘The fact that there is something full time is fun, but at the same time, I’ve got lots of irons in fires because that’s what you have to do in this business,’ he said.

McManus said the stability of jobs in the Australian entertainment industry had dwindled since his days hosting his popular variety show Rove Live in the early 00s.

The Project viewers upset over shock format change to the show to coincide with the US election

Upset Channel Ten viewers have vented their frustration at a shock format change to the long-running panel show.

Angry viewers took to the Media Spy forums to voice their dissatisfaction at the program airing a special US election-themed episode on Wednesday night, making it more difficult to record.

‘Tonight on The Project they mentioned the show starts at the earlier time of 6pm [on Wednesday] and goes for 90 mins,’ an upset viewer wrote.

‘The program guide shows it as America Decides: The Project. A bit stupid they have renamed it, because now it does not appear in the series link in the guide on my Fetch box.

‘It would not record as usual. I had to select it as a new recording so it will record tomorrow.’

The special 90-minute edition of The Project is half an hour longer than usual and will see the hosts provide an in-depth and tongue-in-cheek analysis of the US election coinciding with the broadcast.

Meanwhile, other viewers also shared their thoughts on the one-time format change.

‘It’s an outrage,’ one fan sniped and another person asked whether the longer format would impact other programs as well, with someone confirming that Deal or no Deal would not be aired that night.

During Tuesday night’s episode, long-time co-host Waleed Aly stunned fellow panellists by predicting that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will defeat Republican Donald Trump to become the next US president.

The Gold Logie winning host, who is in the US capital Washington D.C. to cover the presidential race, made the surprise claim on the program.

He was put on the spot by fellow panellist Kate Langbroek, who asked him who would get the keys to the White House.

‘There’s no point having you on unless you give us a name. Who is going to win?’ Langbroek asked.

Without hesitation, Aly responded: ‘Kamala Harris. There’s a name.’

Langbroek appeared shocked as fellow co-presenters Hamish Macdonald, Sarah Harris and comedian Sam Taunton gasped.

Aly went on to explain his prediction, despite polls saying it is still too close to call: ‘My theory is, Trump has fewer ways to win. Kamala has a bit more room for error in the people she is targeting and who might turn out.’

John Farnham’s manager Gaynor Wheatley reveals the surprising reason why he finally decided to write a memoir

John Farnham’s beloved friend and manger Gaynor Wheatley revealed on Wednesday the surprising reason why he finally decided to write a book about his life.

The widow of John Farnham’s long-term manager Glenn appeared on A Current Affair and revealed the You’re The Voice hitmaker, 75, had rejected offers to write a book for years.

‘I did not think he would write a book. There has been many offers over the years and he’s absolutely rejected them for as long as I can remember,’ Gaynor began.

However, she added that John had finally agreed to write his newly released memoir The Voice Inside, for a surprising reason.

‘I think he has a story to tell now. He just felt it was his opportunity and his time now to say what he wanted to say.’

Gaynor was married to Glenn Wheatley from 1982 until his death in February 2022, and is one of the singer’s most beloved friends.

Earlier this week, Gaynor opened up about whether the iconic Australian singer will ever perform again following a brutal mouth cancer battle.

The singer underwent extensive surgery in 2022 to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth, including one 12-hour operation.

Gaynor Wheatley and documentary maker Poppy Stockell sat down with Waleed Aly on Monday’s episode of The Project to talk about the singer’s new memoir, The Voice Inside, and asked the question on everyone’s lips, ‘Is he going to sing publicly again?’

    ‘He’s a singer,’ Gaynor replied.

‘I know when he got back in the studio doing the audiobook, he was like, “I want to get back, I want to go back”.’

‘Whether he’ll perform again, I don’t know. But I’d certainly want to get him back in the studio.’

John’s memoir The Voice Inside was released across Australia on Wednesday, October 30.

The book documents Farnham’s early life and stardom growing up in Melbourne in the 1960s, to his comeback 1986 album Whispering Jack.

His voice was heard for the first time since the surgery earlier this month in an extract of Farnham narrating his new book.

Sarah Harris appeared to get choked up on Tuesday night after hearing John Farnham’s voice for the first time since his marathon mouth cancer surgery.

The Project panellist, 43, was left stunned as she heard a snippet of the British-born Australian singer, 75, narrate the audiobook version of his memoir The Voice Inside.

Playing the audio on the news program, Sarah could be heard gasping in shock as she listened to Farnham’s voice which sounded more gravelly than usual.

‘I got a bit of goosebumps hearing that,’ Sarah gasped.

Her co-panellists agreed, with Waleed Aly saying: ‘It’s at once familiar and different… you can kind of hear what he’s been through but unmistakably, it’s [Farnham].’

‘Not just the voice, but the intonation.’

Sarah added: ‘He said it’s been a rollercoaster recording it because of all the highs and lows he’s had over the last few years. It’s good to see him.’

‘Apart from everything else though, I tell you what, he reads the book well. It’s not easy to do,’ Waleed said.

The You’re The Voice hitmaker is narrating the audiobook version of his memoir The Voice Inside.

Publisher Hachette Australia released a snippet of the book on Tuesday, with Farnham sounding a little more gravelly than before his marathon 12-hour procedure.

‘I don’t enjoy talking about myself, I really don’t,’ he said in the teaser.

‘Don’t get me wrong, I’m an egomaniac, but dredging up the past is just not something I’ve ever really enjoyed.

‘I’ll try and share as much as I can, but that’s not easy because I’ve never really been that open. I guess there are reasons for that. Reasons for my reluctance.’

Since revealing his cancer diagnosis in August 2022, Farnham has mostly remained out of the public spotlight.

On the same day as his announcement, he underwent a gruelling 12-hour surgery, which included a jaw reconstruction to remove a tumour from his mouth.

In August 2023, Farnham revealed he was cancer-free, 12 months after the procedure.

Farnham’s family had previously given updates on behalf of the Australian music legend following the August 2022 operation.

Speaking on Sunrise, his son Robert said his father was ‘doing fantastic’.

The That’s Freedom favourite was additionally hospitalised after he developed a chest infection following surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his mouth.

Farnham is ‘unlikely’ to ever perform again.

His operation, carried out by 26 medical staff, also saw a major part of his jaw removed.

Farnham had only discovered he had the cancerous growth in his mouth after his wife Jill insisted on taking him to the doctor for a check up when he developed a persistent mouth ulcer.

He’s the US actor who played one of the most loveable misanthropes in television history.

And Seinfeld star Jason Alexander has revealed his most favourite moment from his character George Costanza from the iconic sit-com.

Jason, 65, was appearing on The Project on Thursday to promote his new collaboration with Uber Eats, when the subject quickly turned to his most recognisable role.

Host Waleed Aly asked Jason to divulge his favourite Costanza moment and it didn’t take long for the actor to think of his answer.

‘George got hoisted on his own petard so many times, and had to dig himself out of a hole, or not dig himself out of a hole,’ Jason said.

He then revealed his most memorable Costanza moment came in the season three episode titled the Red Dot, that sees George engage in a romantic dalliance with his office’s cleaning woman.

‘The one that I remember so clearly, because I thought it was so brilliant, was in an episode where George was working at the publishing company and he was having sexual relationships in his office with the cleaning woman and he got caught,’ Jason explained.

‘If you’re writing that scene and you’re going: “okay I’ve got this guy George Costanza, what happens next? Whatever you would imagine it wouldn’t be what they came up with.’

Jason then repeated George’s immortal rebuttal of: ‘Is that wrong’?

He went on to reveal that the way that creators Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David created George’s response to the sticky situation gave the actor incredible insight into George’s mind.

‘That is the most brilliant try to save your own behind that I could have ever imagined,’ he said.

‘When I first saw that script and I saw that was the approach they found, that was a big insight into who that character was for me

‘It was really very helpful for me in understanding how the mind of George Costanza works.’

Waleed admitted that he had almost forgot about the scene, which originally aired back in 1991, until Jason began retelling the story.

Replying, Jason said that was a testament to the show’s creators.

‘Jerry and Larry were writing a kind of comedy that was very new,’ he said.

‘It had a different shape, it had a different sound, it had a different music. It was focused on different kinds of stories and different kinds of characters. Back then it was very risky and off the beaten path.’

Widely regarded to be one of the most iconic comedy shows of all time, Seinfeld ran for seven seasons from 1989 to 1998.

Raygun’s Transformation: Aussie Breakdancer’s New Look After Olympic Mishap Goes Viral

Aussie breakdancer Rachel Gunn appears to have had a glow-up after becoming an overnight sensation during the inaugural women’s competition at the Paris Olympics.

The 37-year-old, who goes by the name Raygun, returned home to Australia looking in great spirits on Monday and sported a very different appearance.

The dancer showed off her sun-kissed, tanned skin and wrinkle-free complexion.

Dressed in baggy jeans and a faded turquoise T-shirt, Raygun looked decidedly chipper as she strolled through the terminal.

Her brunette hair was straightened and tied back into a messy bun while tortoise shell sunglasses sat atop her head.

The look was worlds away from her Olympic breakdance debut, where she rocked the Australian team uniform and a pair of white New Balance sneakers.

At the time, her hair was wavy and styled out in a short bob under her green and gold cap.

The embattled breakdancer became an instant meme for her routine at the Olympics, which became the event’s most talked-about moment.

Her unique moves, which included kangaroo hopping and sliding across the floor, didn’t serve her well at the competition and saw her face an onslaught of ridicule as she was turned into a global sensation.

Last week, Raygun gave her first TV interview on the viral moment, appearing on The Project on Wednesday to discuss the ordeal with host Waleed Aly.

During the tell-all interview, Raygun doubled down on her viral routine – blaming it on a ‘lack of resources’ – before revealing she plans to step back from competing in a shock career move.

She also admitted she hasn’t even watched her now-infamous performance and hit out at her critics as she passionately insisted they don’t ‘understand’ breakdancing.

After accusations that she made a ‘mockery’ of breakdancing, Raygun took a swipe at her critics as she claimed they don’t understand her ‘artistic’ style and called for more resources to be given to the sport Down Under.

‘Unfortunately, we just need some more resources in Australia for us to have a chance to beat world champions,’ she shared.

‘You know, historically, unfortunately, we haven’t had the best track record of winning World Championships, so, you know, I don’t think that’s just on me.’

‘A lot of the responses, though, is just due to people not being very familiar with breaking and the diversity of approaches in breaking,’ she went on.

‘It was so fantastic that the next day the judging chair, MG, came out and explained that in the breaking community what I did actually wasn’t very shocking.

‘You know, it’s just a different approach in breaking. You have the athletic-style breakers and you also have the more artistic-style breakers and all of them are very valid.’

Though her performance has been widely viewed around the globe, Raygun admitted she hasn’t watched it amid the backlash.

‘I haven’t watched it back, no. That’s not unusual for me, though. I’m not great at watching back my battles,’ she shared.

‘It’s still gonna take some time. I think I’ve seen little bits and pieces, but, yeah, I’ll watch it eventually.’

On Saturday morning Australian time, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson busted out some moves alongside the controversial performer as they sailed on a Virgin Voyages Celebration Voyage sailing in the Mediterranean.

Video footage shows Raygun welcomed onto the stage to huge cheers, and talking about what she loves most about breakdancing.

‘It’s all about relaxing, it’s about having fun and it’s about being yourself, and I just totally love that,’ Raygun said.

The B-girl then takes to the dance floor before Branson joins her, pulling out the infamous kangaroo hop move.

She was hit by an onslaught of online ridicule and garnered attention of global stars for her unique routine, which included kangaroo hopping and her rolling around on the floor like a snake.

The sportswoman has now broken her silence on the ordeal in a bombshell world-first TV interview, which saw her grilled by Waleed Aly on The Project on Wednesday.

The tell-all chat saw Raygun slam her critics for not ‘understanding’ breakdancing and discuss the huge backlash, but it has left Aussie viewers completely divided.

While some praised her for speaking out, others appeared unimpressed as they branded the interview a ‘car crash’ and insisted it was a ‘bad PR move’.

Some viewers even pointed out the one moment in the interview which proved her ‘nervous’ demeanour, though many couldn’t agree on the reason behind it.

Criticising her TV appearance, one viewer wrote on X – formerly known as Twitter: ‘This #Raygun interview…isn’t it.’

‘Raygun has two choices after that car crash interview. Leave Australia or leave planet earth. Anything less will be very difficult for her,’ another penned.

A third said: ‘This #Raygun interview…isn’t it,’ while a fourth added: ‘Is this girl really insulting our intelligence by saying we just don’t understand breaking? The entitlement is beyond.’

Others jumped to Raygun’s defence as they hit out at critics for continuing to pile on amid the backlash, insisting she had come across well in the wide-ranging chat.

‘Rachel seems pretty cool. Yes, the performance was unique, perhaps a bit cringe, but why all the abuse? We take winning too seriously,’ one tweeted.

Another said: ‘From a couch critic, Raygun’s Olympic breakdancing left a lot to be desired but she’s come across extremely well in the #theprojecttv interview.’

And a third gushed: ‘I love Raygun. Unironically and unashamedly.’

Some at-home viewers also claimed to have found the one moment which showed Raygun was ‘nervous’ about the tell-all interview.

Raygun had appeared uncomfortable as Waleed confronted her with claims from hip-hop star Spice that her performance made a ‘mockery’ of the Aussie scene.

Commenting on when she reached her hand up to her ear, they penned: ‘Did you notice #Raygun’s nervous #Body-Language which is associated with being deceptive and telling Porkies?

‘#WaleedAly managed to touch her raw nerve, which exposed her right in front of the nation now.’

However, another fan strongly disagreed as they argued: ‘Looked like she was adjusting her in-ear monitor cable.’

During the interview, Raygun doubled down on her defence of her viral Olympic routine as she blamed a ‘lack of resources’, before revealing she plans to step back from competing in a shock career move.

Addressing the backlash, she also took a swipe at her critics as she claimed they don’t understand her ‘artistic’ style.

Though her performance has been widely viewed around the globe, Raygun admitted she hasn’t watched back her now-infamous performance.

‘I haven’t watched it back, no. That’s not unusual for me, though. I’m not great at watching back my battles,’ she shared.

‘It’s still gonna take some time. I think I’ve seen little bits and pieces, but, yeah, I’ll watch it eventually.’

Despite reports she could be fighting off TV offers after signing with an influencer talent agency, Raygun said she has no plans to compete again any time soon and wants to step back from the limelight.

‘I don’t think I’ll be competing for a while. Not really wanting to be in the spotlight, breaking, competing. But I… You know, it’s been nice,’ she shared.

‘Like, it’s been a bit of a process to try and start dancing again. Like, that’s actually been tough. You know, it was my medicine, and then it turned into my source of stress!

‘So, I’m really happy that it gets to go back to being my medicine. I can kind of finally feel free again, so yeah, I’m looking forward to breaking, but, no, I don’t think I’ll compete for a while.’

Admitting it has not been an easy time for her, Raygun also shared that she has been relying on mental health support and taken herself off social media in the wake of the criticism.

However, she noted that her fame has also come with positives, including getting messages from ‘random people’ who never would have otherwise known her.

Raygun has not yet returned to Australia after the Olympics and is currently on a pre-planned European holiday with her breaking coach husband Samuel Free.

Rachael Gunn will break her silence in a tell-all television interview.

The controversial Olympian will speak to Australia’s The Project in segment that airs on Wednesday night.

After gaining notoriety for her performance as Raygun during the Paris Olympics breakdancing competition last month, Rachael is set to discuss the viral moment that shot her to international infamy.

A preview clip for the upcoming episode shows host Waleed Aly asking the athlete, ‘Do you genuinely think you are the best female breaker in Australia?’

Rachael falters and pauses before replying, ‘Well, I think my record speaks to that.’

The Project’s co-hosts expressed excitement for the segment, calling it ‘the interview everyone wants’.

Rachael appears to be headed for a career in television, with all three commercial networks reportedly trying to sign a deal with her.

A TV insider has claimed fans could look forward to seeing the academic, 36, on at least one top rating reality show next year.

‘The future of one of the world’s most talked about Australians, Raygun, is currently being negotiated with multiple TV offers,’ the source told Yahoo Lifestyle.

According to the insider, the networks don’t want to ‘share’ Gunn.

‘They are looking for exclusive-network-deals that could be 12 to 24 months long, blocking out other opportunities from competing programming,’ they explained.

Describing Gunn as one of the most ‘sought after names’ in Australia right now, another source said that the competing networks could end up casting Gunn on a ‘celebrity’ reality show like SAS Australia or Dancing with the Stars.

They added: ‘A number of talent agents have been circling the viral superstar ever since her memorable dance at the Paris Olympics went viral. The exact direction she will take will be revealed any day now and whichever network she signs with will be quite telling.’

It comes after reports surfaced earlier this month that Dancing with the Stars bosses were desperate to sign Gunn for the upcoming season.

Raygun was catapulted to international stardom after she scored zero points at the Game, having lost all three of her round-robin battles by a combined score of 54-0.

Although her performance, which featured kangaroo hopping and slithering like a snake, didn’t serve her well at the international tournament, DWTS appear to be excited about what she could bring to the hit dance competition.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, an insider revealed they are keen to offer the sportswoman the opportunity to capitalize on her Olympics disaster and overhaul her image to no longer be the ‘laughingstock.’

They added that they believe Rachael is a ‘good fit’ and that they ‘would love to talk’ with her.

‘Dancing with the Stars has had its fair share of amazing dancers, awful dancers and just pop culture for years and Raygun is now one of their targets for the upcoming season.

‘They are always on the lookout for people up until the last minute and always want to be on the pulse of what people are talking about.

‘That’s why they always go after Housewives, Bachelor franchise people, political names and this year Olympians and the Hawk Tuah girl.

‘If they think someone could provide the ratings then they’ll consider it.’

The source added: ‘People extend their fifteen minutes on Dancing with the Stars, and when it comes to Raygun, producers would love to talk to her and see if she would be a good fit for the upcoming season.

‘Dancing with the Stars loves being the show where people redeem themselves and this could be the perfect avenue for Rachael to not be a laughingstock anymore.

‘Dancing is going to make an offer.’

The exciting Dancing with the Stars development comes after a marketing expert predicted that Raygun is poised to earn millions from her newfound fame.
