Cat Deeley showed off her incredible figure in a black swimsuit as she shared rare family snaps on Instagram on Tuesday during a lavish getaway.

The This Morning presenter, 48, looked amazing in the one-piece as she went paddle boarding on the sea with her son Milo, eight.

Cat looked effortlessly cool as she stood up on the board while her little boy sat on the front.

She shielded from the sun by wearing a pair of sunglasses and styled her long tresses in a loose up do.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Cat shared a sweet short clip of her son and comedian husband Patrick Kielty walking along the beach together.

She revealed the family were off on an ‘ice cream run’ as they wondered along the sea front.

TV presenter Patrick kept casual in an oversized white T-shirt and shorts as he coordinated with his little boy in a white bucket hat.

Cat and Patrick, who tied the knot in 2012 in Rome, share two children Milo, eight, and James, five.

While Cat enjoys her family holiday, she and This Morning co-host Ben Shepherd have been replaced on the ITV show in a huge hosting shake-up – and fans are divided.

The presenting duo usually appear on the ITV daytime show every week, Monday to Thursday.

However, this week viewers are seeing a different pair taking their place – Dermot O’Leary, 51, and Siân Welby, 38.

The shake-up was announced on Instagram over the weekend in a video posted on This Morning’s account.

In the video, Siân said: ‘We’re back together on Monday, I love this!’

‘For a whole week,’ Dermot explains. ‘Looking forward to it.’

Patrick Kielty’s mother Mary’s remarkable and ‘resilient’ life framed by the Troubles as she’s laid to rest in her native Northern Ireland

As Cat Deely and Patrick Kielty grapple with the loss of his beloved mother Mary, her tragic passing has shone a light on her remarkable and ‘resilient’ life which was dramatically framed by the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

This Morning host Cat was notably absent as Mary, 88 was laid to rest on Monday in County Down while Patrick looked bereft as he carried her coffin through his home village where he was joined by close family and friends.

A spokesperson for Cat told MailOnline the reason why she did not attend the burial was so that she could be present for her two children who are suffering the loss of their grandmother.

But for those gathered in the Church of the Sacred Heart in Dundrum, Co Down, Mary’s final send-off proved to be a fitting testament to a life described as ‘difficult’ and ‘valiant’ after it was rocked by tragedy.

Her husband Jack was shot dead by protestant paramilitaries in 1988 who mistakenly claimed that he was an IRA chief.

She was aged 46 at the time while Patrick was only 16 and Mary was forced to raise him and his two brothers single handedly as she battled to keep the family together. She took a job in a local school, where she worked for most of her life, to help provide for them.

Known for her sharp sense of humour and gritty ‘no nonsense’ attitude, she was an integral part of the local community, even becoming chair of the village football club.

She passed away peacefully at her home in Dundrum, where she raised her children on Saturday with a death notice befittingly describing her as a ‘loving mother’ and ‘devoted grandmother.’

Born in 1940, Mary was the youngest of four sisters and a brother and grew up on a farm near Annaclone.

Throughout her life she shared a deep bond with all three of her sons who paid moving tributes to her during her funeral.

Her eldest son John told mourners about their ‘brilliant’ childhood despite the horror of their father being so callously murdered.

He said in his eulogy: ‘Mary’s life changed in 1988 when Daddy was killed. Left with three sons aged 18 and under, it was a real bad hand of cards.

‘She got a job in the school, got involved in the football club. She even managed to become chairperson and she got the three of us reared.’

Patrick, who had presented an episode of RTÉ’s flagship TV programme The Late Late Show hours before her death, gave the second reading at her funeral Mass.

He has previously spoken movingly of his love for his mother and the unique connection she enjoyed with him and his siblings.

Not long after taking over The Late Late Show he revealed how Mary still offered to do his laundry for him.

He said: ‘I think Irish mummies never really understand what age their youngsters actually are.

‘So, you do get a lot of offers like ‘Do you have any washing’ and I would be like ‘Well no, no that’s done, I’m 53 mum’.’

Cat Deeley missed her mother-in-law’s funeral to support her two young children who are suffering the loss of their grandmother, MailOnline can reveal.

The This Morning host, 48, was notably absent as husband Patrick Kielty’s late mother Mary was laid to rest on Monday in County Down.

Patrick, 54, looked bereft as he carried Mary’s coffin through his home village, where he was joined by close family and friends at the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Cat, who has been married to Patrick for 12 years, stayed in London, presenting Monday’s This Morning with co-host Ben Shephard, 50.

Despite the This Morning roster including the likes of Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, and Rochelle Humes being on hand to stand-in for Cat, she is also set to host Tuesday morning’s show.

A spokesperson for Cat has told MailOnline the real reason she wasn’t at today’s religious burial held in honour of Patrick’s late mother was to be present for her two sons, Milo, eight, and James, five, before and after they finished school.

They said: ‘Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.’

Patrick’s mother, who was aged in her 80s, passed away at her home in the village of Dundrum on Saturday.

A death notice said Mary ‘will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her entire family circle, neighbours and friends’.

Patrick wore a dark grey suit with a white tie as he laid his mother to rest with his brothers John and Cahal, joined by dozens of mourners.

Patrick has often spoken fondly of his mother over the years, and told The Irish Sun in 2023 that she was ‘secretly delighted’ when he was chosen as host of the Late Late Show.

‘Mary Kielty is secretly delighted but not making any real public statements,’ he said.

‘I mean talking to people at mass, which is kind of a public statement in Dundrum.

‘”Well now, what about that son of yours, I’m sure you’re very proud,” to which Mary Kielty would say “Well now, I’ve got three sons, so which one are you talking about?”‘

Patrick’s life was rocked by tragedy after his father was killed by protestant paramilitaries who claimed he was an IRA chief during the Troubles when he was just 16 years old.

He relived the murder as part of a TV documentary in 2023, in which he said of his mother: ‘My dad was a brave man but it was my mum who wanted to protect us.

‘She’s the one who raised the family and kept us together. She was 46 when he died and she never remarried.’

The comedian revealed the moment he was called into the headmaster’s office of his school to be told of his father Jack’s death at the hands of Loyalist shooters.

As part of a BBC programme documenting the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Patrick spoke about the effect the murder has had on his life.

The Loyalist assassins had fired on his father’s firm in Dundrum, County Down, at the height of the Troubles.

It was a case of mistaken identity, with the killers believing Jack to be an officer in the IRA, a link that was immediately dismissed by the Royal Ulster Constabulary and family members.

Reliving the moment he was told of the death, Patrick said: ‘It was the very first Red Nose Day and I’d put the posters up all around the school.

‘When I was called to the headmaster’s office, I thought I was going to get told off because I’d plastered the entire school with them. Then I got to his office and one of my dad’s business colleagues was there. That’s when I knew something was terribly wrong.

This Morning’s editor, Martin Frizell, said of the summer lineup: ‘Viewers will not want to miss a moment this summer!’

‘The shows will be packed and whatever the weather, the team in front of the cameras and behind will deliver plenty of content to keep the nation smiling.’

‘I’m delighted Alison and Dermot are kicking things off and together with our brilliant family of hosts – made up of the biggest names in TV – they will be serving up really exciting content on Britain’s biggest daytime show.’

However, viewers were left baffled when the early exit was announced.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they shared: ‘Ben and Cat only joined #ThisMorning back in April of this year’; ‘Back in September?? Its July 11… ITS ONLY THE 11th of July part timers basically got TWO month off work what a Joke!’; ‘Let’s see if they do come back in September. Their viewing figures suggest maybe not #thismorning.’

Other viewers were delighted by the shakeup, however, as they expressed their delight at seeing Irish presenter Craig back on their screens.

Ben and Cat’s summer break comes weeks after they took time off for Easter.

The duo enjoyed two weeks away from the programme in April, during which time Alison and Dermot fronted Monday to Friday for the fortnight.

Ben and Cat were officially announced as the new This Morning hosts in February after months of whispers.

The couple were first reported to be dating in October 2023 as they were seen looking rather cosy at the Pride Of Britain Awards.

And in pictures obtained by The Sun, it seems the celebrity duo have taken their relationship to the next level as they could be seen passionately kissing.

Maura, who split from American stuntman boyfriend Bobby Holland Hanton earlier this year, wrapped her arms around Pete’s neck and kissed him during a romantic luncheon together.

She added: ‘I’m dating… The thing with me is I won’t just date someone.

‘I don’t go off just looks, I have to be speaking to somebody for quite some time to sort of get their vibe. It needs to be flirty, getting to know each other, getting a vibe.’

Maura – who currently hosts Love Island Aftersun in the US – has previously dated Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice, as well as her Love Island co-stars Christopher Taylor and Curtis Pritchard.

The reality star shot to fame on the fifth series of Love Island UK in 2019, but landed the job in America as host of their spin-off show.

Bobby and Maura were first romantically linked after they were first spotted on a date in London in May.

The couple were then seen enjoying several passionate kisses while on holiday together in Ibiza in June.

Maura confirmed her relationship with Bobby – a successful stuntman, who regularly plays Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double – during a December appearance on the Late Late Late Show hosted by Patrick Kielty.

It comes after Maura was left mortified after an unseen Aftersun clip showed her flirting with a hunky Love Island USA contestant, before she confessed her love for him and begged to enter the villa as a bombshell.

Hunky diamond dealer, Harrison Luna, 27, caught Maura’s eye immediately, after she interviewed him on the show.

Maura gushed to Love Island US host Ariana Madix and Aftersun guest Katie Maloney: ‘He’s hot!’

In an unseen clip that aired on the spin off show, after the presenter had interviewed Harrison she could be seen staring after him longingly, before making her a heart shape to him with her hands, and mouthing: ‘I love you!’ behind his back.

As he left the set, Maura sighed dreamily and commented: ‘What a man’ before making a desperate plea to the producers and asking: ‘Can I go in as a bombshell?’

After watching the clip back with Ariana and Katie, Maura was left mortified while the other two women applauded her.

The brunette beauty admitted: ‘I’m actually weirded out by how much I was staring at him. What was that?’

Imitating her facial expressions, she added: ‘That is creepy! Oh my god no wonder I am single.’

Cat’s holiday comes after she and her co-host Ben Shephard, 49, announced they would be departing This Morning for several weeks.

The new hosts, who joined the ITV daytime show in March and are said to be receiving an annual salary of £555,000, are set to take a seven-week break.

During their summer break, a rotation of guest presenters will be brought in to front the show in their absence.

Friday favourites Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will kick off the summer shows from, Monday July 15, before a mix of familiar faces return to the sofa.

Also stepping in to host will be Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark, Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett, plus new mum Sian Welby also making her return to broadcasting since welcoming her baby daughter Ruby last month.

Ben and Cat return to ITV’s flagship daytime show on September 2, and Alison and Dermot return to fronting Fridays on September 6.

Sources at the channel said that they were ‘thrilled’ at the signing of the pair after ‘so many obstacles had to be negotiated to get there’.

The Mail first revealed that the duo were top of the list but in December Cat turned down the role because she wasn’t able to commit to the programme at the time.

However, after further negotiations and the offer of more money, she agreed. One source said: ‘Cat was the one they wanted all along and finally they have her. It is incredible news for them.’

It’s possible the reason for the sudden U-turn was financial, with Cat set to nab a bumper payday as the new host.

When reports of her joining the show first emerged last year it was claimed she and Ben would receive an annual salary of £555,000.

While hefty, the salary still paled in comparison to former hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who were said to have been paid £700,000 annually for their roles.

Holly left the show last October ‘for the sake of her family’ after discovering she was the target of a foiled kidnap and murder plot and has since not been replaced permanently.

Her departure came five months after Phillip’s when his affair with a young male showrunner was made public, followed by claims of an increasingly strained relationship with his co-host.

Cat Deeley stunned as she made a shock bedroom confession during Tuesday’s episode of This Morning.

The presenter and her co-host Ben Shephard were discussing whether separate rooms are the key to a happy marriage alongside Linda Lusardi and married couple Emma and Kevin – who choose to sleep in separate bedrooms.

Speaking about her own bedroom arrangements, Cat revealed her sleeping situation with husband Patrick Kielty.

She explained: ‘It’s one of those things that because of our schedule here [This Morning], from Monday to Thursday I sleep in the guest bedroom and the rest of the time I’m back.

‘Because otherwise I get up at 5am and I want to fall asleep earlier.’

Linda then replied: ‘Well that’s logistics, you’ve got an odd job that makes you get up early. You have to!

‘But I do think if you can sleep together why not.’

Cat shares sons Milo, eight, and James, five, with her husband and the family relocated back to the UK several months ago after previously living in Los Angeles.

The star and her husband decided to ditch their glitzy LA lifestyles and returned to the UK several months ago after a ‘terrifying’ gun situation made them rethink their life in the States.

Following her terrifying ideal, she swapped her £3.8 million Beverly Hills mansion for a £4.9million rundown 1950’s home in leafy Hampstead in north London where she counts Harry Styles among her neighbours.

Cat left behind her long-time role on So You Think You Can Dance in the US, where she was reportedly paid £43k an episode – instead opting for the role on This Morning with a reported £550k annual salary.

However, it was revealed earlier this week that ITV’s biggest daytime hosts are reportedly facing a pay freeze as the channel holds crisis talks after ratings plummet on some of their iconic daytime TV shows including Good Morning Britain and This Morning.

Production teams and staff on shows will have their salaries frozen, according to The Sun.

Cat and Ben took over the helm of This Morning earlier this year, after the departure of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and reportedly signed contracts for a cool £555,000, while Susanna is said to have a £1.1 million per year deal.

ITV are said to have warned there could also be job cuts which will impact both permanent members of staff and freelancers.

The channel is believed to also be switching long term roles in the company to just three-month contracts.

And it is not just employment they are targeting as it is believed the company’s big summer party – which attracts some of the biggest stars in the business- is also at risk.

Four of their flagship shows – Good Morning Britain, This Morning, Lorraine and Loose Women – are among the programmes that are reportedly affected.

The ratings are believed to have dropped so poorly that it triggered ITV’s daytime boss to call a series of crisis ‘Town Hall’ meetings last week to break the news to the four shows.

Staff were reportedly presented with a graph detailing the rapid decline in ratings, while also showing the successful viewing figures for Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Bosses are said to have discussed Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, which had 60million views in a month, Amazon’s The Grand Tour, 170million views worldwide, and Clarkson’s Farm, which obtained 11million views in its first weekend.

A source told the publication: ‘ITV is really tightening their belt. There have been concerns for months at the top but now that it’s trickled down to the shop floor it feels very depressing.

‘A lot of staff are being put on three-month contracts. Staff are hopeful that the UK elections will help boost their ratings.’

AN ITV spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Town hall meetings happen frequently for teams to keep up to date with company news and also serve as an opportunity for staff to have questions answered.’

‘The latest one was to celebrate the success of Lorraine Kelly receiving a BAFTA Special Recognition Award and the two BAFTA nominations for Daytime last weekend. It was also a transparent portrayal of what is currently happening across the industry.’

He continued: ‘Now I have to wear these cool shoes. I mean, they are pretty hideous, aren’t they? They are not a fashion statement although some people do think they are.

‘Now I have teamed them with a flared trouser but I still can’t walk in them properly. This is why I had this done five weeks ago so I can slip my beautiful little new toes into a nice pair of stilettos to play the Wicked Witch.’

‘The specialist couldn’t understand how I’d even been walking. But I’m a professional dancer, and we are used to being in continuous pain.

Craig recently insisted the Strictly curse is a ‘blessing’ because it rescues the contestants from their ‘loveless marriages.’

The curse of Strictly has become as well known as the dancing itself with multiple celebrities going onto romance their professional partner.

And although competing on the show has led to marital breakups such as the case with Ben Cohen and Louise Redknapp, Craig, 59, believes Strictly isn’t the cause.

He says the marriages must have ‘been on the rocks in the first place’ and there’s everything to ‘gain’ by signing up to the BBC show if your relationship is in a rut.

‘And look, it can end in marriage, it could end in children, we have a lot of Strictly babies…

‘And this curse they talk about I think is a blessing. It gets people out of loveless marriages and into something fabulous.

‘The whole point of the Strictly curse is the marriage or whoever you’re with must have been on the rocks in the first place for anything to occur. Nothing to lose… all to gain.’

Strictly has seen the likes of 2018 winner Stacey Dooley romance her partner Kevin Clifton and the couple now share a daughter together called Minnie.

Praised for being ‘relatable’ on This Morning, Cat’s beauty admissions were no exception, as she opened up about regularly ‘dropping the ball’ when it comes to managing her motherhood and her career.

She said: ‘I drop the ball all the time, I’m exactly the same as everybody else.

‘I do the juggle; the juggle is real, the struggle is real. You know, we know, we’re all trying to just make everything work.’

‘I feel my most beautiful when I’m probably not at my most beautiful, but to me, I feel it,’ she said.

‘It would be as the sun is starting to set on the beach after spending the day with my boys in the sunshine. I’ve got beachy hair, no makeup on, and my skin feels warm. You can smell the sunshine on your skin, and they kind of cuddle into you at the same time. That’s when I feel my best.’

It comes after Cat told Closer magazine about how she gets her perfectly coiffed hair after it caused a stir on the ITV morning show.

‘In LA, I can just let my hair dry by the pool, but in the UK I need to give it some welly with the Bondiboost Blowout Pro hot brush.’

The hairdryer and styler in one features three heat settings and aims to detangle and smooth hair down, banishing flyaways. while keeping your hair voluminous.

And Cat uses Pantene’s BB Creme to keep her hair nourished after she has it coloured.

She previously told Cosmopolitan: ‘Pantene BB Crème is a great product, it nourishes your hair, keeps it healthy and you can style with it too. When you get your hair cut and coloured, spend some money on that! That to me is the great basics.’

When asks if she is good at blow-drying her own hair usually, she said she was not.

‘I’m not very good at it. I have a lot of hair and it is very, very long. All the other things I do myself thought, I can curl, style and wave it. I do love a blow-dry though – nothing quite beats the feeling of it!’

  • Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley launch the ‘BenCat’ rescue mission on This Morning sofa just 48 hours after Cat’s return from the US.

Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley launch the ‘BenCat’ rescue mission on This Morning sofa just 48 hours after Cat’s return from the US.

After months of rocky waters and a fall-out that almost sank ITV’s flagship breakfast show, there was a mood of excited relief among the This Morning team yesterday – as new presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard took the helm for the first time.

For Deeley, however, it was a skin-of-the-teeth arrival. For 18 years she has been a fixture on US television as the presenter of talent show So You Think You Can Dance.

But on Saturday, she flew back to the UK on a red-eye service from New York and arrived at the north-London home she shares with husband Patrick Kielty and sons Milo, eight, and James, five, with just hours to spare before her first visit to the This Morning set.

Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley launch the ‘BenCat’ rescue mission on This Morning sofa just 48 hours after Cat’s return from the US.

On Saturday Cat Deeley flew back to the UK on a red-eye service from New York with just hours to spare before her first visit to the This Morning set ahead of hosting with Ben Shephard

‘Made it and the sun is shining,’ she enthused in a clip shared on social media.

On Sunday she also met Shephard for the first time since the pair signed up to replace the former long-term co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

One show insider tells me: ‘Cat and Ben are seen as the saviours. They made a special trip to the studio on Sunday, which was the first and only chance they had before the launch.

‘They know one another from old and have always got on really well. They have been in touch, despite being on opposite sides of the Atlantic, but nothing could beat their first hug as This Morning’s new dream team.’

Bosses can only hope the ‘dream team’ end the period of high-profile shocks that rocked the 35-year-old show — from Schofield’s ‘unwise but not illegal’ relationship with a young employee, to Willoughby’s traumatic resignation last year following an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.

The big smiles and lightness of tone on-air yesterday from Deeley and Shephard could not have been a greater contrast to this. A message from ITV’s court jesters Ant and Dec, with whom Cat hosted music show CD:UK in the early Noughties, added to the family atmosphere.

I’m told the decision to feature the Geordie duo, aside from making Cat smile, was to remind viewers where she came from following concern among some ITV bosses that she might appear too ‘Hollywood sparkly’ for the channel’s daytime fans.

One insider said: ‘You can’t get away from the fact Cat has spent nearly 20 years in Tinseltown, so it was important to remind people she is actually home-grown, ITV talent. In the view of the most senior bosses, Cat has come home, and they want everyone to know that.’

Viewers took to social media to welcome the pair, though some bemoaned the fact little else about the programme had changed. ‘Lovely to tune into some professional presenters, instead of a giggly pair of mates who think everything is about them,’ wrote one.

But one disappointed fan said it was a lost opportunity not to have given the show a facelift. ‘Feels like Ben & Cat are just the latest on the conveyer belt of presenters rather than it feeling like a fresh start, which it arguably should.’

It was certainly a big change for Deeley in the wardrobe department. More used to the OTT glitter of a reality TV dance show, she knew her fashion choices on the This Morning sofa would be pored over by viewers.

While her predecessor Holly used her own expensive fashion expert, Cat opted to be guided by the in-house style team, who chose a cream tweed belted mini dress from high street chain & Other Stories, priced at £135.

There was a slight tweak, with the presenter tying the belt rather than using the buckle. A source close to the star said: ‘Cat is more than aware how much what she wears on the sofa will be critiqued. She also knows it will be one of the ways she is judged by the viewers, which is what is most important to her.’

As a veteran of GMTV and the BBC’s Good Morning Britain, Shephard is used to the early breakfast show starts, and friends say they won’t bother Deeley either.

Kielty has said she springs out of bed at 5.30am every day and sings in the shower before ‘downing two coffees’ and making him feel bad for staying in bed. Though the couple are household names in the UK, both have been far bigger stars overseas for the past few years. From Tuesday to Friday, Kielty is in Ireland, where he hosts the long-running talk show, The Late Late Show.

His absence will mean Cat has a juggle on her hands, and was one of the reasons for her initial reluctance to commit to the This Morning sofa. One friend said: ‘Cat will be the ultimate working mum but for a lot of the time she will be without Patrick, who was told when he took The Late Late Show that he would have to be in Dublin most of the week.

‘Cat isn’t under any illusion that it is going to be easy, but she is a pro. She has in place the right help and support to manage both being a mum and hosting This Morning.’

Much rests on Ben and Cat — or BenCat as ITV staff have already dubbed them.

It was surprising to some that there was no big promotional push for the relaunch, but sources at the network say this was a conscious decision.

Bosses wanted the show to go back to being centred on the content rather than provoking headlines about the off-screen antics of the talent.

On its first day, that mission certainly seems to have been accomplished. ‘It was lovely there this morning,’ says a member of the production crew. ‘There was no drama and the vibe was just brilliant.’

Whether the pair can match the charisma of Schofield and Willougby in their heyday, only time will tell. But bosses will certainly be relieved that the new duo seem unlikely to reproduce the off-set turmoil.

Cat Deeley and her family flee US after 14 years for terrifying reason just before This Morning debut

Cat Deeley decided to return to the UK after her husband and son were caught up in a gun scare.

The TV star, 47, moved to the US more than a decade ago and has carved out a successful presenting career over there, fronting hit shows like So You Think You Can Dance?

But she has returned home to front ITV’s This Morning alongside Ben Shephard after the magazine show underwent a presenter shakeup following the departures of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

And now, the The Sun on Sunday has discovered that the gun incident her husband Patrick Kielty, 53, and Milo, eight, were caught up in was done at the hands of ex-Amazon employee Nicholas Oates who pointed a gun at staff at a mall in Century City, LA.

Cat’s husband and son were having a burger at Shake Shack when the incident unfolded and she raced to the scene.

The former Stars in Their Eyes host previously recounted that everyone was told to ‘lie down’ on the floor at the scene as she recalled seeing police and helicopters when she arrived.

In a 2020 interview, she said: ‘Everyone was told to lie behind the counter or pushed into the loos. People were screaming and crying.

‘Then, as they were all hiding, the FBI turned up with guns. Paddy kept Milo calm — he didn’t really know what was going on.

‘As I was driving, I began to see helicopters, news vans, firemen and armed police response squads.’

On February 16, 2024, Cat and Ben were finally confirmed as the upcoming regulars to take over from Holly and Phil, nine months after the iconic duo were broken apart by Schofield’s departure.

It had been claimed that Cat was finally won round with a more lucrative deal, but insiders at ITV denied the claims – insisting it was the ability to spend more time with family which sealed the deal.

Ben said: ‘This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning. It’s an honour to be trusted with the reigns, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job.

    How did they meet?

Cat and Patrick first met in 2002 while they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, however sparks didn’t fly between the couple until 10 years later.

After being friends for years, their friendship turned to romance thanks to his major gesture.

Last year, Cat paid a sweet tribute to her husband Patrick on Instagram as she looked back at when they first met.

The presenter shared a throwback picture from their time presenting on the show alongside a recent snap from the Irish Film Awards.

She wrote: ‘A blink of an eye and here we are!!’.

Previously Cat told the sweet story of how her husband Patrick turned their friendship to romance by flying all the way from Belfast to Los Angeles for a brunch.

In 2020 the TV presenter told how Patrick ‘knocked my socks off’ with the gesture on the Made By Mammas podcast, where she discussed marriage and motherhood.

Cat said: ‘It was my birthday and he’d rung me, he was at a pub in Ireland and he’d rung me from the pub.

‘Bear in mind it was probably about 2 o’clock in the morning because they’d had a lock-in.’

When Cat told him she was having a birthday brunch at Beverly Hills Hotel with a few friends, she said: ‘He said, “I’ll see you there!” I was like, there’s no way!

‘He went home, set his alarm for five, got up, went to the airport, flew from Belfast to London, then jumped on the first plane from London to LA, got in a cab, told the cabbie on his way from the airport what he was doing, and the driver was literally like “do you want me to wait for you?!”‘

‘He walked in, dropped his bags at the concierge, walked in and came and sat down for lunch! It knocked my socks off a little bit!’

    When did they get married?

The romantic gesture was the catalyst for the couple getting together, and they married in an intimate ceremony in Rome in 2012.

The happy couple secretly tied the knot in September with their close family and friends present.

A wedding photo showed the pair looking blissfully happy as they enjoy a celebratory drink at their wedding reception.

Their big day came as a surprise to their fans as it was only one month prior that Patrick denied rumours that they had gotten engaged.

The pair first went public with their relationship in May 2012, and although they had been friends for years, their romance still came as a bit of a shock.

It was shortly after this that Patrick moved into Cat’s £1.7million Beverley Hills mansion with plans to renovate the property.

The couple kept their blossoming relationship out of the public eye for quite some time after rumours about their friendship turning romantic began to surface after they went on holiday together in February.

Patrick, made it known last year that he has been thinking of tying the knot in 2012, saying: ‘I think that might be my New Year’s resolution… to get married.’

    Where has Cat worked?

Cat began her career as a co-presenter for the ITV children’s show SMTV Live, for which she won a BAFTA Children’s Award, and its spin-off chart show CD:UK.

In 2006 she moved to California to take over from Lauren Sánchez on So You Think You Can Dance.

Her move to the US paid off, as she grew into the award-winning host of primetime shows such as The Tonight Show and Stars in Their Eyes before landing her new gig, back in the UK, on ITV’s This Morning this year.

During her stint in the US she had five Emmy nominations, and made an estimated £15 million fortune.

Cat’s role on This Morning will see the star reportedly lose her long-time role on So You Think You Can Dance in the US, where she was reportedly paid £43k an episode – instead opting for the role on This Morning with a reported £550k annual salary.

This  Morning bosses reportedly begged Cat and Ben Shephard to take over as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s permanent replacements on the show.

Holly, 42, and Phillip, 61, both left the ITV daytime show last year and since there has been a rotating group of stars at the helm.

Cat impressed viewers with her presenting skills when she appeared on the show in November and was said to have left bosses devastated when she then turned down the main gig.

However, new reports claim that producers went back to the drawing board to try and woo the former children’s TV star and are set to announce as her the new Monday to Thursday host alongside Ben Shephard.

It’s possible the reason for the sudden U-turn is financial, with Cat set to nab a bumper payday as the new host.

When reports of her joining the show first emerged last year it was claimed she and Ben would receive an annual salary of £555,000.

While hefty, the salary still paled in comparison to former hosts Holly and Phil, who were said to have been paid £700,000 annually for their role.

However, Cat isn’t short of cash as she currently earns at least £344,000 a season hosting So You Think You Can Dance in the States, where she is said to be paid £43,000 an episode.

The new series is set to air in March and Cat has been dividing her time between the States and the UK for filming.

Therefore it stands to reason that if Cat has changed her mind about appearing on This Morning her contract would possibly allow her to continue juggling her LA gig.

    Where has Patrick worked?

Cat’s new role comes after Paddy took over Ireland’s Late Late show from Ryan Tubridy.

His career began while still a student in Queen’s University Belfast in 1991, Patrick kicked started his comedy career by performing at an open mic in The Gasworks in Dublin.

The Gasworks was run by Billy McGrath who advised Patrick and pal Jackie to open their own comedy club in Belfast. The pair then opened The Empire on Botanic Avenue in Belfast.

The young comedian made his television debut the following year as a contestant on the National Comedy Search – a segment on the Late Late Show.

Patrick was a finalist on the show alongside Irish comedian Dylan Moran.

After turning to presenting for a number of year Patrick returned to stand-up in 2006 releasing a stand-up DVD in 2007 and appearing on Live at The Apollo.

And more recently in 2022 the Irish star took on his first stand-up tour in 7 years called Borderline.

Despite starting his career in comedy, Patrick is best known as a television presenter.

He began presented in 1993 on UTV presenting various shows on the network over a 3 year period.

In 1997, he set up the Belfast-based TV production company Green Inc with TV director Stephen Stewart making shows such as The Afternoon Show, Patrick Kielty Almost Live, and Ask Rhod Gilbert.

It was reported in 2010 that Patrick had sold his share in the company.

The father-of-two went on to present various radio shows on BBC from 2015 to 2020.

In 2021, he took part in the RTE series All the Walks of Life, where he talked about his childhood and the values he holds.

In 2023, the Irish star was confirmed as the new host of RTÉ’s The Late Late Show taking over from Ryan Tubridy and becoming the show’s fourth permanent presenter.

    Where do they live?

Patrick and Cat lived in California for over 14 years but put their Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $4.9 million (£3.8 million) and moved back to North London in 2020.

The star previously revealed the ‘catalyst’ for the family’s departure was the terrifying moment Patrick and their eldest son narrowly avoided a public shooting incident at the Century City Mall.

The couple were also keen for their boys to be schooled back home in the UK and be closer to their friends and family.

The family were back in LA last year, but only temporarily, with Cat telling The Telegraph that they had relocated for the school holidays and would return to the UK when her show wraps.

‘You have such a small amount of time when everyone wants to hang out, so we moved back to take advantage of that. And then the pandemic hit…’ she explained of how they have settled back in the UK.

‘We didn’t want to put anyone at risk in the pandemic because, well, young kids! But we’re making up for it now.

‘I taught Milo how to read and how to ride a bike in the pandemic. It was nice to all be together.’

‘I’ve worked with many of the team on and off but to work with them full time is very exciting.’

However, Ben admits it will be tough to leave Good Morning Britain, and he will miss working alongside Kate Garraway, who recently returned to work after the devastating death of her husband Derek Draper.

‘I’ve loved hosting Good Morning Britain over the past 10 years since it launched,’ he said. ‘When I left GMTV, I always swore I’d never go back because of the early mornings and it goes to show how wrong I was.

‘I’m grateful that my extended GMB family is only next door so that whenever I get nostalgic, I know I’m not going to being far away. Although I’ll miss being on screen with them, my later starts mean I may be able to hang out with them all a bit more!

‘One of the hardest decisions of course is knowing that my mornings with Kate, my on-screen wife of nearly 20 years, is coming to an end.

‘Her journey has been well documented, and I think we would all agree how remarkable she has been over the last four years.

‘I won’t miss the mess but I’ve learned so much from her, as I have from all of the people I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside.’

On what This Morning means to him, Ben went on: ‘Like so many people, This Morning is the programme I grew up watching when Richard and Judy used to host it – two icons on the daytime sofa.

‘I first got to host the show with the lovely Fern Britton. I was a last-minute call up and I remember sitting on the bus on the way home, daydreaming about the fact I’d just hosted it and what a moment that was for me.

‘I vividly remember driving over Blackfriars’ Bridge, being on the top of the 63 bus and looking down at the river, daydreaming, and thinking, “Crikey I just hosted This Morning”.

‘Now, here I am 20 years later and I’m going to be doing it every day.

‘That means a lot. I understand how important it is as a show to our viewers – they are an integral part. Every time I’ve stepped in to host the show, something extraordinary happens. The engagement from the viewers is like nothing else.

‘Viewers watch the show in a very different way – they sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy every bit of it. They are engaged with debates, they love the cooking items, they really enjoy the human interest stories, which is a really important part of the show – it’s a very present audience.’

Cat said: ‘I can’t wait to be a part of the team, from the crew and producers, to the brilliant presenters. I’ve been hosting solo for the past few years and I’ve really missed that sense of camaraderie, it will be great to be a part of such an incredible team.’

Ben is looking forward to working with Cat who he will quiz on her time hosting in America.

‘It’s always really exciting when you start working with somebody new.’ he explained. ‘Cat has extraordinary experience from working in America on some incredible shows – so I’ll be getting all the inside info on how things work on the other side of the Atlantic.’

Cat said: ‘Ben is a true gentleman, an incredible presenter and a great journalist. No one handles live TV better; he makes it look effortless. He’s funny and whip smart, I can’t wait to go to work every day and do a job I love.’

It had been claimed that Cat was finally won round for This Morning after bosses offered her a more lucrative deal, but insiders at ITV denied the claims – insisting it was the ability to spend more time family, over a big money payday, that finally led to her decision.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary discussed the news on Friday, showing a throwback snap of Dermot, Andi Peters and Ben.

Dermot joked: ‘Ben at T4 that’s actually from last week!’, while Alison replied: ‘Look at Andi Peters!’

Moving on to Cat, Dermot said: I’ve known Cat for so long’, while Alison revealed she first met Cat at a party in Los Angeles about four years ago and they bonded over both being from Birmingham.

She told Dermot: ‘I met her in LA. We’re both Brummies. I met her about four years ago, we met in LA at a party. We are so so happy they are joining the family Ben and Cat. This is going to be so, so nice.’

Dermot said: ‘The secret is out!’, while Alison revealed: ‘They are joining us in March.’

This Morning’s Editor, Martin Frizell said: ‘The team and I have relished the opportunity to try new things these past few months and remind viewers what a massively talented team both on and off screen we have here at This Morning…

‘We can’t wait to welcome Ben and Cat fully into the fold next month and witness the start of another exciting chapter in the show’s 35 year journey.’

Managing Director, ITV Studios Daytime, Emma Gormley added: ‘I feel immensely proud of everyone working on This Morning – for a programme that has evolved many times over the last 35 years, it remains just as relevant and exciting as ever…

‘We are thrilled to have Ben and Cat as our new This Morning hosts and cannot wait to see them on that famous sofa together soon.’

Sources at the channel say that they are ‘thrilled’ at the signing of the pair after ‘so many obstacles had to be negotiated to get there,’ according to one source. Their appointment will be discussed on Friday’s episode of This Morning.

The Mail first revealed that the duo were top of the list but in December Cat turned down the role because she wasn’t able to commit the time to the programme.

However, after further negotiations and the offer of more money, she agreed. One source said: ‘Cat was the one they wanted all along and finally they have her. It is incredible news for them.’

After whispers began last month, many questioned how she would sustain her long-standing role as host of US show So You Think You Can Dance, which she has presented since the second season in 2006.

Sources claimed she would not receive any special treatment regarding leave to jet to the US to continue her £43k-per-episode job – meaning Friday’s announcement appears to confirm she has chosen the UK over her US stardom.

Cat’s husband Patrick, with whom she shares two children, is the host of Ireland’s The Late Late Show and her role on This Morning would bring her closer geographically to her husband rather than her US job.

It’s possible the reason for the sudden U-turn was financial, with Cat set to nab a bumper payday as the new host.

When reports of her joining the show first emerged last year it was claimed she and Ben would receive an annual salary of £555,000.

Cat isn’t short of cash as she currently earns at least £344,000 a season hosting So You Think You Can Dance in the States, where she is said to be paid £43,000 an episode.

The new series is set to air in March and Cat has been dividing her time between the States and the UK for filming.

Tongues were wagging over what she would do about her This Morning contract – and how it would either allow her to continue juggling her LA gig.

If she does decide to keep both jobs it won’t be for financial reasons, however, as brand and culture expert Nick Ede revealed she could double her This Morning salary with brand deals online.

Nick told MailOnline: ‘Cat is popular in the style stakes and I can see her making a lot of money partnering with brands like John Lewis and M&S who will be vying for her to wear their items.

‘She could earn over £200,000 from fashion collabs and she also has her own fragrance which I am sure will fly off the shelves.

‘I can also see her potentially collaborating with a brand like Charlotte Tilbury or L’Oréal and for these she could earn a cool £250,000.

‘Cat is the perfect presenter for This Morning. She has a big fanbase of people who grew up with her on a Saturday morning and she’s always been a safe pair of hands.

‘She has a great reputation for being lots of fun but she can also balance difficult discussion points too which is why she will make a winning pairing with Ben.

‘What’s also really great for a brand about Cat is that she has a big appeal in the USA as the host of the hit show So You Think You Dance so if they are looking to expand or create brand deals in the UK and US she’s the perfect person to do it.’

It comes after it was revealed that Cat was in a stand-off with ITV bosses over her new post and her long-time role on So You Think You Can Dance.

Last month, insiders revealed Cat and Ben had scooped the coveted roles of permanent hosts in the wake of stalwart stars Holly and Phil leaving.

It was claimed that Cat wanted Rylan Clark as a co-host rather than Ben and will 'not receive special treatment' to permit her Monday to Thursday role on This Morning and continue her £344k-a season role on the American dance show

It was alleged that Cat wanted Rylan Clark as a co-host rather than Ben and will ‘not receive special treatment’ to permit her Monday to Thursday role on This Morning and continue her £344k-a season role on the American dance show.

Sources revealed: ‘Cat will not get any special treatment… She will absolutely not be given time off to film the next series of So You Think You Can Dance. So she has to make that decision, it’s one or the other, end of.’

Cat is said to have ‘really wanted the job’ but had concerns over her husband Patrick Kielty’s commitments in Ireland and how they would juggle the jobs.

The insider continued: ‘Cat told friends that she wanted the job, if ‘she could make it work.’ However, she also feared that Patrick’s commitments in Ireland made things very tricky for her to take the job. She also really, really wanted to do it with Rylan.’

It comes after Holly left the show last October ‘for the sake of her family’ after discovering she was the target of a foiled kidnap and murder plot and has since not been replaced permanently.

It came five months after Phillip’s departure after his affair with a younger showrunner was made public, followed by claims of an increasingly strained relationship with his co-host.

Phillip has bowed out of the spotlight in recent months since his affair scandal in May, which led to his departure from This Morning after over 20 years on the show.

After much speculation about his private life, his affair finally went public and he admitted he had been left ‘broken and ashamed’ but insisted he was not a groomer.

He said the affair ‘never came across’ as an abuse of power because he and his lover were ‘mates’. He told The Sun: ‘I was unprofessional, one time, in a 41-year career. There is no excuse. No one did anything wrong apart from me.’

In his first interview since leaving the broadcaster and This Morning, the 61-year-old presenter said: ‘I did not, I did not [groom him].

‘There are accusations of all sorts of things. It never came across that way because we’d become mates. I don’t know about that. But of course I understand that there will be a massive judgment, but bearing in mind, I have never exercised that.’

At the time, Phillip offered a number of apologies, including to his co-presenter of 14 years Holly and his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Lowe.

The struggle to bring Cat Deeley back to TV: KATIE HIND shares the story of how ITV executives convinced the star to return after her US boss stepped down amidst sex assault allegations and chose her over newcomer Sian Welby.

Just days after Holly Willoughby quit This Morning, ITV began holding discussions over how they could lure Cat Deeley to replace her on the programme’s coveted sofa.

Holly had barely cleared out her dressing room before the Birmingham-born former children’s television presenter was their list-topper to save the programme.

She was, for the channel, the only star who they thought could bring them the glitz and the success that Ms Willoughby did in her heyday.

Their dream was to team Cat up with her husband Patrick Kielty – a ‘Cat and Pat’ brand to recreate the good old days of Richard and Judy.

But with Patrick happily ensconced and earning a substantial salary as the host of Ireland’s Late Late Show, they knew that would be almost impossible.

Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have been unveiled as the new hosts of This Morning, ITV revealed on Friday, with a teaser clip showing their images been erected in the ITV corridors

So, in recent weeks there have been whoops of joy as finally it became apparent they had managed to make at least half that dream a reality.

Cat has agreed to join This Morning. Alongside her will be Ben Shephard, host of ITV’s earlier show, Good Morning Britain, who’d been waiting in the wings.

He’d been holding off signing his contract until he knew who his leading lady would be. ‘Once Patrick was out of the game ITV wanted Ben and Cat, or Cat and Ben.

They couldn’t work out which way round to have the names, they were nicknamed BenCat months ago. That is what they were working towards.’

However, while Ben, 49, had agreed in principle to switching from Good Morning Britain, which he’s hosted for the last ten years, getting Cat’s signature was much trickier.

In the end, ITV had to push back their relaunch date by months while Cat, 47, finished work on the US reality show, So You Think You Can Dance, which she’s fronted since 2006.

An insider at ITV revealed: ‘The negotiations were all about Cat’s diary and her commitments to So You Think You Can Dance and fulfilling her contract in the US.

She wanted to make sure she was doing the right thing by them.

‘Cat always wanted to do it but it was about logistics and they were not easy.’

    Indeed, they weren’t.

After Cat’s impressive performance hosting four shows for This Morning last November, as ITV held auditions in the hunt for the next Holly, she’d told bosses she was keen to take on the role full-time.

However, it was the much-loved Rylan Clark who she wanted to sit beside rather than Ben, she confided to friends, after she hosted two episodes with him.

She also had to weigh up her domestic life, what with Kielty, with whom she has two young sons, working in Ireland from Tuesday until Friday.

Her months of commitments on So You Think You Can Dance also meant she wouldn’t be available for the beginning of 2024 when ITV had initially wanted to relaunch the show.

So, during the first week of December, ITV chiefs were back to the drawing board. ‘They were gutted,’ said one source on This Morning.

‘There was so much excitement around getting Cat in, she was like a breath of fresh air when she arrived at the studios.

‘Let’s not forget how traumatic it had been for the production staff for months before. First Phil left, then Holly, ratings were dropping and to the outside world the programme was absolutely toxic.

‘Then Cat and her big smile arrived and it was all better for a few days. There was hope that the good old days, the early days of Phil and Holly, would be back. Then it all came crashing down and it was back to reality.

‘Once again, ITV executives were asking around for ideas of who they could hire. I was even summoned to lunch for my thoughts. Meanwhile, Cat was pre-recording So You Think You Can Dance auditions in America and she had as good as given up hope that she would be able to sign to This Morning.

I’m told ITV’s head of daytime Emma Gormley and This Morning editor Martin Frizell were looking at new stars, but chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall and her number two, Kevin Lygo, were still determined to get Cat and turn around their embattled programme, which was once the jewel in ITV’s daytime crown.

Lygo felt that there was something special about bringing Cat back to the channel where she made her name in the late 1990s and early Noughties.

Many will remember that, like Holly, Cat began her career in children’s television, starting as a co-presenter for the children’s show SMTV Live in 1998 for which she won a BAFTA Children’s Award.

But it was the spin-off, CD:UK, which catapulted her to fame. She was offered the job by Ant and Dec and would, for seven years, be a sister-type character alongside the duo, winning over viewers with her fun-loving manner.

Like Holly, men wanted to date Cat while women wanted to be her best friend. In 2003, she presented Fame Academy on BBC1 and also became presenter of the ITV talent show Stars In Their Eyes, which she hosted until 2005. The following year she moved to the States where she hosted So You Think You Can Dance.

Some at This Morning were against her hire. One senior executive explained their fears that Cat might be too ‘Hollywood and polished’ for This Morning audience after her years in the States, and it became a major point of discussion for the network’s chiefs.

‘What if she is too unrelatable?’ one insider commented. ‘She is literally shiny and Tinseltown and it should not be forgotten that part of Holly’s problem in her later years was that she was perceived by viewers to be too perfect. ‘But the battle to get This Morning back to its best outweighed whether Cat would be too glam.

Of course, Cat’s new This Morning commitments mean that she won’t be able to host the next series of So You Think You Can Dance, for which filming begins in December.

And it is no coincidence that ITV began getting excited again about getting her shortly after the US show’s boss Nigel Lythgoe stood down following multiple accusations of sexual assault, including one from singer Paula Abdul.

‘The timings match,’ one This Morning insider mused. ‘Maybe that’s what swung it, maybe So You Think You Can Dance won’t return for another series if it doesn’t go Nigel’s way.’

Meanwhile, Sian Welby, the former Channel 5 weather presenter and This Morning showbusiness correspondent almost got the prestigious role when was handed the reins alongside Dermot O’Leary last month.

Frizell – seen by some as a television Svengali – was bowled over by her and began thinking she could be the bubbly ‘next Holly’.

A source on the show tells me: ‘Nobody was expecting Sian to become a contender but she instantly impressed and was all of a sudden a serious replacement for Holly. I’m told that viewers will be seeing a lot more of Sian in the coming months as This Morning bosses attempt to ‘grow’ her to future-proof their programme.

‘But for now it’s all about BenCat, who will make their debut on the programme next month in return for a reported £550,000 a year each.

As she was unveiled today, Cat said of the show: ‘This Morning is a national institution. Whenever it’s on, it’s like having your friends over – funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships!’

Talking of which, ITV bosses will surely be hoping that Ben and Cat (or Cat and Ben ) don’t end up fighting like cat and dog, and falling out quite so spectacularly – or indeed as publicly – as their predecessors.
