Strictly’s Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu put feud rumours to bed as they attend Christmas light switch on in Blackpool ahead of dancing together this weekend

Strictly’s Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu appeared to have put their feud rumours to bed as they attended the Blackpool Christmas light switch on on Friday evening.

The professional dancers, who both grew up in China, have been close since childhood but sparked concerns of an argument earlier this month amid reports they were refusing to speak and have unfollowed each other on social media.

However, the pair looked in great spirits as they celebrated the festivities alongside fellow Strictly professionals Neil Jones and Kai Widdrington.

Nancy was also seen fawning over Neil’s daughter Havana, who he had also brought to the switch on.

While Nancy and Carlos weren’t seen standing next to each other as Nancy linked arms with Kai, the BBC confirmed to the MailOnline that everyone was happy to be together and had a great time.

They also revealed the pair will be dancing together in the tower ballroom as part of the group number this weekend after Carlos insisted last week that the two friends ‘are fine’.

Speaking to The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden last week, he said: ‘We’re fine. We’ve been friends since childhood, and friends argue, we’re too close and are like brother and sister to completely fall out.’

MailOnline have also contacted Nancy and Carlos’s teams for comment.

It was claimed that tensions sparked between the formerly close pals when Carlos was left disappointed after not to be paired with a celebrity this series.

An insider previously told The Sun: ‘The feud between Nancy and Carlos is really sad and has left everyone really shocked.

‘They’ve been close since childhood, but have fallen out and unfollowed each other on socials.’

‘The atmosphere on set is said to be awkward and tense when both are around, and to many it was a relief when Carlos didn’t attend the show weeks ago’.

Meanwhile a separate source told MailOnline: ‘Both Carols and Nancy are extremely cordial and always incredibly professional on Strictly premises’.

Meanwhile Nancy’s time in the competition came to an end last weekend after her and Shayne Ward were sent home.

Fans were left fuming after Shirley Ballas chose to send Shayne home after a nail biting dance off against Wynne Evans and Katya Jones.

The head judge delivered the casting vote after the judges were left with a split decision with both Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse opting to save Shayne and Nancy and Anton Du Beke voting for Wynne and Katya.

While Shirley acknowledged that both couples had made mistakes during their dance off performances, she reasoned that Wynne’s performance was more ‘joyous’ before choosing to save the Welsh opera singer.

However fans were less than impressed with her decision as they criticised her comments after Shayne performed the notoriously hard rumba while Wynne took to the floor with an uplifting American Smooth.

Taking to Twitter, they slammed the judge as they accused her of being ‘biased’ and branded her decision as ‘pathetic’.

    They wrote: ‘So wrong, Shirley Ballas makes me so cross. When judging it’s ok to say one was joyous when they are dancing the same. How on earth can anyone say that when it’s a gallop against the rumba.’;

    ‘Hopefully b****y go compare man will go next week. Shayne was the better dancer by far. Shirley and anton are so biased’;

    ‘If @ShirleyBallascan’t be impartial she shouldn’t be a judge let alone head judge. “Joyous” as a reason to save someone. Pathetic. #Strictly’;

‘Wrong so wrong #strictly Just because he’s called Wynne doesn’t mean he should.. Can you even do a joyous Rhumba Poor Shayne’.

Who left Strictly Come Dancing? Shayne Ward’s dancing journey is over after receiving the lowest results and landing in the dance-off against Wynne Evans

Shayne Ward has become the seventh celebrity contestant to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after a tense dance off.

The X Factor singer found himself in the bottom two with Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, after failing to impress on Saturday with his rumba.

The Coronation Street actor and his dance partner Nancy Xu scored just 30 out of 40 for the technically difficult Latin dance, leaving him at the bottom of the leaderboard.

The 40-year-old was forced to dance again in front of the judges on Sunday night before they delivered their verdicts.

Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse voted to save the musician, while Anton Du Beke preferred Wynne and Katya Jones’ American Smooth.

It left head judge Shirley Ballas with an agonising decision. She ultimately decided to give her deciding vote to Wynne, which meant that Shayne departed the competition.

Asked by presenter Tess Daly about his exit, he said: ‘I just want to say, you guys up there [the other contestants] are a dream. Every single day, coming in here and seeing you guys you helped me so much.

‘I want to say thank you to the audience as well, for always being amazing for us all. This has been, honestly, one of the best things I’ve ever done.’

He added: ‘I’m proud that I made it to eight weeks as a novice dancer. A massive thank you goes to this incredible human right next to me [Nancy], who has put so much fire in me and made me believe that I can actually achieve more if I let myself go.

‘I’m sorry it didn’t work out to the end, but I’m super proud that I got to meet you [to Nancy] and dance with you, so thank you.’

Nancy, who last year danced with Les Dennis, said: ‘I’m beyond proud of this dance partnership. Shayne from week one until this point, every second you put your feet on the dancefloor you improved yourself.

‘You’re a deep thinker, you always doubt yourself, you never believed yourself, but I never ever questioned you.

‘When I watch you, I feel proud because I’ve turned someone who has never ever danced in their life into an amazing dancer. You should believe in yourself. I adored this partnership.’

Pete and his dance partner Jowita Przystal performed their routine to The Best, a song originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler and made famous by Tina Turner.

The reality star was praised by the judges for his performance and received his first perfect 10 score from Shirley Ballas who said his dance made her emotional.

Next Saturday the remaining eight celebrities – including Miranda actress Sarah Hadland, blind comedian Chris McCausland, and JLS singer JB – will head to the Blackpool Tower for a special episode live from its iconic ballroom.

Odds suggest Shayne and Nancy are unlikely to make it to through to next week’s Blackpool special after their odds were slashed to 10/11 to be voted out of the competition.

The That’s My Goal hitmaker is now favourite to leave the show, closely followed by opera singer Wynne Evans, who has odds of 9/4.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: ‘As far as the odds and punters are concerned, it looks like Shayne Ward’s Strictly journey will come to an end this weekend.’

Lee Phelps, a spokesperson for William Hill, explained: ‘The nine-strong Strictly field will be cut down to eight following this weekend’s show, and Shayne Ward looks in danger of performing his last dance in the competition.

‘The English singer is our odds-on favourite at 10/11 to be the next contestant eliminated from the show following a second appearance in the dance-off last weekend.

‘Should Ward dance himself out of hot water, Wynne Evans is next in the firing line at 9/4, with both JB Gill (6/1) and Pete Wicks (8/1) looking safe enough chances to secure their place in next weekend’s show.’

Meanwhile a separate source told MailOnline: ‘Both Carols and Nancy are extremely cordial and always incredibly professional on Strictly premises’.

MailOnline have the dancers representative and the BBC for comment.

During previous seasons, Carlos has been paired with TV presenter Angela Scanlon and EastEnders stay Molly Rainford.

Carlos and Nancy are not the only two pros who are avoiding each other this series.

After Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington’s recent split, tensions are said to be frosty between the pair.

They are reportedly refusing to stand next to each other on screen.

Nadiya has previously revealed she ‘isn’t friends’ with her former flame and the pair have been seen to be noticeably standing apart while upstairs in the Clauditorium during the live show.

The BBC refused to comment and MailOnline have contacted representatives for Nadiya and Kai.

The couple reportedly ended their two-year romance after ’emotionally drifting away from each other,’ with sources claiming the pressures of touring together took a toll on their relationship.

Speaking to The Mirror earlier this month Nadiya revealed that she and Kai are still working on Strictly, despite not having celebrity partners, and they’ll always keep things professional when they dance together.

  • Wynne’s ‘Wandering Hands’ Incident with Katya Leads to Change in Behavior

Wynne’s ‘Wandering Hands’ Incident with Katya Leads to Change in Behavior

The pair orchestrated a strategic and controversial PR campaign to put an end to Strictly’s ‘grope-gate’ scandal.

And last night Katya Jones was taking no chances of a repeat of dance partner Wynne Evans touching her waist again by standing next to her fellow professional Nancy Xu – who wrapped her arms around the Russian beauty.

As the BBC One show opened, Nancy was seen in what appeared to be a move to protect Katya, while the Welsh opera singer stood behind her with his arms firmly behind his back.

Whether it was yet another planned strategy to encourage Strictly fans – and the media – to insist there’s nothing to see here is unknown, but it isthe latest turn in the unedifying events that have engulfed the programme since Amanda Abbington’s bullying claims.

Before last weekend, irrepressible opera singer Wynne was winning over millions of Strictly Come Dancing fans with his jollity and determination to learn to dance.

Wynne’s ‘Wandering Hands’ Incident with Katya Leads to Change in Behavior

Katya Jones was taking no chances of dance partner Wynne Evans touching her waist again by standing next to professional Nancy Xu – who wrapped her arms around the Russian beauty

Best known for the Go Compare adverts, he was even lauded as the saviour of the embattled BBC show. But last week, the larger-than-life star was instead dealing with a barrage of criticism after viewers spotted his hand straying across Katya’s waist as they stood in the green room. It prompted the professional dancer to forcibly remove his hand, fixed grimace in place. Then, Evans tried to give Ms Jones a high five, but the Russian shot him a scathing look, rolling her eyes and turning away. Sources say they were deeply concerned that ‘grope-gate’ would hit their chances of winning.

So, what were they to do? They quickly hit upon an audacious publicity strategy – but The Mail on Sunday can reveal their bid to dismiss it as a joke has left some quarters of the BBC ‘absolutely enraged’.

So keen was Evans, 52, to protect his wholesome image that he hired the services of a crisis management PR. He and Ms Jones, 35, instructed Lou Plank, who has been working with Ruth Langsford through her divorce from Eamonn Holmes. She is, I’m told, not funded by the BBC and is not aligned with them.

Evans and Ms Jones immediately attempted to defuse the row, posting on social media to say they were ‘just messing around’ and that it was a ‘very silly inside joke’.

Ms Jones also said that ‘the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense.’

Last week Evans was dealing with a barrage of criticism after viewers spotted his hand straying across Ms Jones’s waist as they stood in the green room

Evans said he was ‘heartbroken’ at the headlines it prompted, while Ms Jones demanded that the controversy ended. I’m told it was most certainly not the strategy preferred by the BBC.

An insider said: ‘There are some bosses here that are furious with Wynne for doing that and, clearly, it was felt by [him] and Katya that they were not getting the support they wanted from the BBC, so decided to do things their own way.

‘It is fair to say that the strategy was not joined up, it was a case of Wynne and Katya doing what they wanted, regardless of how the BBC felt.

‘The decision to bring in a crisis PR also just shows the level to which they are determined to save their time on Strictly.’ But one BBC source said Ms Jones writing off being touched as a joke was ‘definitely not in line with their increasingly woke culture’.

It got more sticky when the Women’s Aid charity stepped into the affair. In a statement, it said: ‘Inappropriate behaviour towards women is no laughing matter.

‘With an epidemic of misogyny and violence against women and girls in the UK, we need a media culture where women feel safe to speak up, where sexually inappropriate conduct is not trivialised or joked about. It’s important we challenge inappropriate ‘jokes’ so we don’t continue normalising toxic attitudes that cultivate these forms of gender-based abuse.’

I’m told some BBC bosses were ‘mortified’ at the charity’s intervention. They already had to deal with the fallout of pro dancer Graziano Di Prima being sacked in July for kicking his partner Zara McDermott last year.

Evans and Ms Jones’ approach to insist they are close friends –and that it was all a misunderstanding – continued on Friday. They posted pictures of themselves walking up a mountain close to Evans’ Cardiff home.

Last night, the pair danced a Quickstep to Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra, and they scored 33 out of 40 points

Last night, the pair danced a Quickstep to Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra, and they scored 33 out of 40 points

They were hoping finally to have drawn a line under the controversy, but the aftertaste is lingering. The BBC did not deny hauling Evans and Ms Jones in for a telling off.

One insider said: ‘Why on earth would they tell her off unless it was for her downplaying of the situation?’

Evans, meanwhile, is said to be ‘very cross’.

Last night, the couple danced a Quickstep to Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra, and they scored 33 out of 40 points. They did not address the scandal.

Former footballer Paul Merson, who gained 19 points with Karen Hauer, was praised for his ‘enthusiasm’ as a non-dancer.

Nick Knowles Eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing

Nick Knowles became the third star to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after he and Luba Mushtuk lost the dance-off to Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu.

Both couples performed their routines again; Shayne and Nancy performed their Cha Cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub feat. Melanie Williams.

Then, Nick and Luba performed their Charleston to Rain on the Roof from the film Paddington 2.

However, despite narrowly making it back into the competition as he recovered from a shoulder and knee injury, Nick, 62, was soon sent home by all four judges – Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

When asked by Tess about their time on the show, Nick said: ‘I’ve really, really been surprised by how much I’ve loved doing it and by two things that happen.’

He explained: ‘One is how much you care each week, and the other is how much you don’t want to let down your partner.

‘The only reason I could do this is simply because of Luba’s changes, she’s been amazing.’

Luba said: ‘I’ve never met someone as determined as you, and I remember you saying that if you do your best, you’ll be very happy. I think you did more than your best. Thank you.’

When asked by Tess about his partner Luba, Nick shared: ‘Luba’s been amazing and just been so fabulous every day.

‘And I should say thank you also to all the background staff, the physios, all the people that have actually got me through this week, and to all of my fellow competitors who have been absolutely astounding, beautiful people.

‘There are some amazing dancers up there, and I will love watching the rest of the series.’

He told the host: ‘Its kind of right.

‘There are some fantastic dancers here and I wasn’t up to scratch for whatever reason.’

Craig Revel-Horwood then gave Craig some advance ahead of his second performance.

He told the DIY SOS star to not care about the dance and throw himself in to it.

He said: ‘ You just need to work on the ideas in a more extreme fashion.

‘Don’t really care about the dance – the Charleston is like that, just throw yourself in to it.’

Nick agreed before adding it was crunch time, telling Tess it was a case of ‘go well or go home’ before adding he would try to throw himself in to his performance.

Jamie Borthwick was branded a ‘cheat’ by one of his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars during the launch show on Saturday.

His stint will mark a return to the BBC show after he competed in the Christmas Special last year, being crowned champion alongside professional dancer Nancy Xu.

And things took an awkward turn during the first episode of the series as Jamie was dubbed a ‘cheat’ for previously appearing on the show.

Host Tess Daley told Jamie: ‘Jamie you had a taste of Strictly last Christmas,’ to which co-star Wynne Evans interrupted and quipped: ‘Cheat!’ before coughing.

Elsewhere, Pete Wicks also took a dig at Jamie when he said: ‘I’m in for a penny in for a pound Pete. I’m never going to be here again am I, unless I am Jamie’.

Jamie rose to fame for his portrayal as Jay Brown/Mitchell in EastEnders, which he has starred in since 2006, and is now one of the longest serving actors on the show.

In 2008 his role in EastEnders earned him a British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor, he then went on to win Best Actor at the Inside Soap Awards in 2023.

Jamie had nothing but good things to say about Strictly as he praised the show ahead of the start of the 20th anniversary series

The EastEnders actor, 30, is due to take part in the latest line up after previously winning the Christmas special with partner Nancy Xu back in 2023.

And as the soap star prepares for the live shows he confirmed he is getting along with his new partner despite ‘aching in places he didn’t know he could’.

Speaking to MailOnline at the National Television Awards on Wednesday Jamie gushed that the show is ‘magic’ as he confessed: I’m really enjoying it so far. I ‘m aching in places I didn’t know I could.

‘Strictly’s magic. It’s a magical show, and it brings a lot of happiness to people, and I’m just happy to be part of it.’

It has been a year of scandal for the show with the results of the BBC’s internal investigation into allegations against Giovanni Pernice due any day now.

Commenting on the controversy, Jamie added: ‘I wasn’t there at that time. I can only speak from when I’ve been there and it’s been an absolutely fantastic place to be.

‘I did the Christmas show, and it was absolutely fantastic and it was that it was the environment that made me want to go back for the series.

‘So absolutely not a bad word at all.’

While Jamie may have won the Christmas special with his 40 point quickstep, he insisted his festive taster does not give him an advantage over the other contestants.

He joked: ‘It’s gonna be good w hen I go on and I’m not really great. Everyone will see that this whole advantage thing is not actually real. We’re all on a level playing field now.’

Wynne Evans wows with six stone weight loss before Strictly debut

Wynne Evans showed off his noticeably trimmer frame as he headed to a London hotel with the Strictly Come Dancing crew on Monday.

The Go Compare opera star, 52, lost a staggering six stone ahead of competing on the show after being motivated to change because he was struggling to even get up the stairs.

And the gruelling rehearsals certainly seemed to be paying off as Wynne looked the picture of happiness after a tiring day in the studios practicing routines.

The show will launch on 14th September with the latest batch of celebrity contestants paired with the professional dancers before the first live show on September 21.

Shayne Ward, Gladiator star Montell Douglas and Toyah Willcox also headed to the hotel as well as Sam Quek and Dr Punam Krishan.

EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and Olympic swimmer Tom Dean were the tenth and eleventh celebs confirmed last Thursday.

Jamie, who plays Jay Brown on EastEnders, has joined the lineup after scoring the highest possible mark in the Christmas show last year.

Speaking on Radio 1, Jamie said: ‘I had a ball doing the Strictly Christmas special last year, so when I was asked to join for this series it was the easiest yes!’

‘This is a fresh challenge and it will be so different to be learning a new dance every week and for the public to have their say. I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom.’

Olympic gold-medal winning swimmer Tom, 24, meanwhile had already let slip his involvement in the show after his team came first in the freestyle relay in the Summer Olympics last week.

Brimming with excitement after Team GB’s big win, Tom accidentally announced he was set to appear on the upcoming series of the BBC dance show.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Tom made history as the first British man to win a gold medal for the men’s 200m swim freestyle in over 100 years, going on to win a further gold medal in Tokyo.

Most recently, Tom brought home his third gold medal for Team GB from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the team 4 x 200m freestyle relay.

Tom admitted he had broken rules by letting slip the news early, saying on Thursday: ‘I am taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2024! You may have heard me accidentally say it poolside first… but now I can officially talk about how excited I am to get stuck into something new, meet some brilliant people and get dancing.’

Corrie star Shayne and Miranda’s Sarah dashed from the ITV Lorraine studio to the rehearsal, after being unveiled in the lineup.

Sarah, 53, made her name as Miranda’s sidekick Stevie in the celebrated BBC sitcom, as well as being one of the original cast members of the multi award winning series Horrible Histories.

The comedy star has also had roles in Waterloo Road and That Mitchell and Webb Look as well as 2008 Bond movie Quantum Of Solace.

Sarah gushed: ‘I cannot believe I am part of Strictly! I feel particularly excited to be part of such an iconic show in its 20th year. I’m so ready for the glitz, glam and glitter and hopefully I can make everyone watching at home proud!’

Shayne, 39, shot to fame in 2005 when he won the second ever series of The X Factor. He will join fellow X Factor star JB Gill, from the band JLS, on Strictly.

Although his first and second album charted at number one and number two respectively, his third album received a lukewarm reception and disappointing sales.

Moving into the world of acting, the star joined the cast of Coronation Street as Aidan Connor from 2015 to 2018, a decade after he won the singing competition.

Shayne made his last appearance as Aidan Connor on 7 May 2018.

And the star has already had some dance practice as he also competed on Dancing On Ice back in 2013.

He most recently appeared in a Channel 5 drama called The Good Ship Murder, alongside his former Corrie co-star Catherine.

‘I’m buzzing to see all of the sparkles and magic that is Strictly in real life,’ Shayne said. ‘I’m no stranger to live TV, but dancing Latin and Ballroom in front of millions is a whole new level. No promises on my dancing ability, but I will give it my best shot!’

Strictly Come Dancing fans have furiously slammed this year’s lineup as ‘the worst to ever exist’.

Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and TOWIE’s Pete Wicks were both unveiled as part of the new series, joining comedian Chris McCausland, JLS singer JB Gill, 80s rocker Toyah Wilcox, Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishnan and singer Wynne Evans.

Les Dennis on Strictly Come Dancing Bullying

Les Dennis called his stint on Strictly Come Dancing ‘the hardest thing ever’ as he waded into the bullying row on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain.

The 70-year-old comedian and his professional dance partner Nancy Xu became the first pair eliminated from the show in 2023 when they failed to survive the dance off.

On Wednesday morning, during an appearance on the ITV breakfast show, the entertainer was quizzed about his time on the BBC hit by host Richard Madeley.

He explained: ‘I was only there for two weeks and you rehearse with your partner separately. I was in a bubble between home and wherever I was on tour. I was in 42nd street at the time.

Les insisted that his ‘experience was great,’ but admitted that the show is ‘the hardest thing ever’ and your professional partner ‘wants to push you’.

Talking to Richard and his co-host Trisha Goddard, the comedian added: ‘I used to joke to friends that I felt like I was in Black Swan.

‘It is tough, your professional partner wants to win as much as you do and they want to push you outside of your comfort zone.’

Directed by Darren Aronofsky and co-starring Mila Kunis, Black Swan (2010) is a psychological thriller about a troubled ballet dancer (Natalie Portman) and her diabolical quest for perfection.

At the time of Les’ departure from the show, it was reported that Les struggled to connect because the funnyman’s energy levels didn’t match that of Nancy’s.

A source told The Sun: ‘Les the entertainer may have charmed audiences with his style, but behind the scenes it was a vastly different story.

‘Les was often moody and erratic because he found the training a very draining process. He’s almost 70 so was knackered just two weeks in and this led to clashes with Nancy.

‘His mood didn’t match Nancy’s enthusiasm and positivity which created tension and discord in the studio.’

The insider added that Les would often lose his cool at the slightest mistake while Nancy was patient and encouraging.

He added: 'It is tough, your professional partner wants to win as much as you do and they want to push you outside of your comfort zone'

The source further described them as ‘polar opposites’ and said they struggled to ‘gel’ which showed in their performance.

Les’ most recent GMB appearance comes as Strictly Come Dancing remains locked in an explosive bullying probe.

The Strictly scandal erupted in January when actress Amanda Abbington accused her Strictly partner Giovanni Pernice of abuse after she unexpectedly quit the show just five weeks in.

Sherlock actress Amanda, 50, a has made a series of accusations about Giovanni’s teaching methods and has described his behaviour as ‘unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean’. He strongly denies all of the claims.

In one interview, Amanda compared the dance show to ‘the trenches’ telling Channel 4 News that BBC producers had been left ‘horrified’ by clips that also allegedly exhibited ‘humiliating behaviour of a sexual nature’.

Then, in July, it emerged that Graziano Di Prima had been sacked from Strictly for ‘kicking’ his partner, Love Island star Zara McDermott.

A Strictly source said: ‘Graziano’s abuse was ongoing, he kicked and hit her. There were multiple occasions where both physical and verbal attacks were made. It was more physical than verbal but all of it was dreadful.

AT the time, a source said: 'Les the entertainer may have charmed audiences with his style, but behind the scenes it was a vastly different story'

The BBC will not give further details due to the ‘confidential nature of the circumstances’ in which the information was provided and their ‘obligations’ to ‘third parties’.

Pro Dancers Spotted En Route to Rehearsals Amid Show Controversy

The Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers appeared in good spirits as they headed to rehersals for the new series in Camden on Thursday.

The professionals looked thrilled to be back at work despite the show descending into chaos in recent weeks amid various abuse probes and misconduct scandals.

Nancy Xu put on an animted display as she gave a thumbs up to the camera while arriving at Cecil Sharp House.

The dancer was all smiles as she posed in a black midi dress with a matching leather jacket and white ankle boots.

Dianne Buswell looked radiant as ever in a black plunging vest top which she paired with light blue jeans.

Letting her locks fall loose down her shoulders, the dancer completed her outfit with a brown handbag and cream sandals.

Lauren Oakley put on a leggy display in a pair of black skintight shorts which she wore with a Rolling Stones T-shirt.

Also in attendance at rehearsals was Nadia Bychkova who kept it casual in a pair of blue skinny jeans and a black leather jacket.

Johannes Radebe also opted for a laid back look as he sported a blue oversized shirt and black shorts with a matching cap.

Michelle Tsiakkas opted for a black bomber jacket along with matching tracksuit bottoms and a bright red top.

Strictly stalwart Katya Jones arrived to rehearsals in a red jacket which she paired with black leggings and white-rimmed sunglasses.

It comes following reports that Amanada Abbington quit the show last year citing ‘personal reasons’ before reports quickly surfaced that she had demanded footage of her rehearsals, claiming the show and Giovanni Pernice had left her with PTSD.

Meanwhile, dancer Graziano Di Prima was axed from the upcoming series of the show over claims he verbally and physically abused Zara McDermott during last year’s competition.

Appearing on Lorraine on Thursday, Amanda claimed she had friction with Giovanni almost immediately after rehearsals began and she voiced concerns about him with producers on day three.

Asked when she first made it clear something was wrong, Amanda said: ‘Week one, third day. I’ve got texts to the producer on day three going, ‘this is awful, he hates me, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m trying my best.’ That was the first week.’

The Sherlock actress has previously described the rehearsal room with Giovanni as a ‘toxic’ envirornment.

She added: ‘I’ve been going into rehearsal rooms for 32 years. I know what rehearsal rooms are supposed to be like.

‘You have a duty of care to bring into that rehearsal room passion, sensitivity and kindess. That wasn’t extended to me and I said, I don’t think this is right.’

Asked whether there were further discussions at that stage, she said: ‘Many, many.’

The couple were paired for the show last year but Amanada left after week six – and she has since made a series of allegations about her time on the programme.

But Amanda also said this was an ‘anomaly’ and she did not want the show to end. She said: ‘I love Strictly, I think this is just an anomaly. I always wanted to do that show. I think it’s such a beautiful British institution and I think everybody loves it.

‘It’s like when I was a kid watching Morecambe and Wise. It’s the same thing. You tune in on Saturday night to watch Strictly. Most people on that show are wonderful and I’ve made some good friends on that show, and I don’t want it to end.

‘I want it to have a beautiful extended life because it’s Saturday night entertainment. I don’t know what the answer is, I don’t, because it’s not up to me.’

Explaining why she spoke out despite an ongoing BBC investigation, Abbington said: ‘I felt I had to speak up because I don’t want people to be frightened of speaking about if they’re being bullied or if they feel they are in a difficult situation or if they feel like they are not being heard.

‘I do feel I have the right to say it was a toxic environment that I was in while I was rehearsing, because it was. I know what happened in the room, and it would be remiss of me if I was to just say ‘it’s fine, I don’t want to talk about it’.

‘It’s important that women and men, because men get bullied as well, it’s important that women feel they are in a safe space where they can stand up and go ‘this is inappropriate behaviour and it needs to be recognised’.

‘And I don’t want women to feel like they can’t speak out.’

Giovanni has denied the claims made against him.

It comes following reports on Sunday, that Graziano was accused of ‘chasing’ after Zara McDermott while ‘screaming abuse,’ leaving her so frightened that she ‘locked herself in a toilet.’

He has apologised for kicking his former partner, but added other allegations do not align with ‘how he remembers it.’

According to the reports, shock details have now been revealed which allege he ‘called her nasty names, asked if she had gained weight and was forceful’ leaving her ‘visibly demoralised’ and ‘in tears.’

Zara herself previously claimed in a statement there had been ‘particular incidents inside the training room which were incredibly distressing.’

She did not report the incidents at the time as she was ‘scared’ of backlash, instead it was junior production staff who came forward.

An insider told The Sun: ‘Zara ran to the toilets and locked herself in. He chased after her and was screaming abuse. He was aggressive and called her nasty names. It was really scary.

‘You could constantly hear Graziano screaming but when production staff opened the door he would stop. He’d say, “How the f*** are you not getting this right?”, and “Why are we even bothering to come here?”. Zara was visibly demoralised.’

The insider added that Graziano would apologise each time and ‘promise to not do it again.’

On Thursday, Mark Borkowski, a spokesperson for Graziano, told BBC News: ‘There is never a time when kicking, or any sense of that is right. And he knows that.

‘He knows he’s made a mistake. He apologised at the time.’

Graziano Di Prima was axed from the upcoming series of the show over claims he verbally and physically abused Zara McDermott during last year’s competition

Referring to the media reports, Mark added: ‘But he doesn’t recognise some of the issues surrounding it. The descriptions of what is being commented online, and how he remembers it, are not aligned.’

‘He [Graziano] has literally cut himself off from civilisation. I think that’s a wise thing to do, supported by his wife. He’s coming to terms with his mental health issues.’

Graziano believed the matter had been resolved at the time.

According to show insiders, video footage of Graziano mistreating Zara gave bosses no choice but to cancel his contract.

Addressing his departure on Instagram, Graziano wrote: ‘I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly. My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime. Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away.’

He continued: ‘While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends. I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future.’

He concluded the post: ‘I also want to thank everyone who has supported my career, both professionally and personally. When the time is right, I will share my story.’

A BBC Spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We will not be commenting on individuals or engaging with speculation.

‘However, as we have said previously we will always listen if people want to make us aware of something or raise it with us directly and we have appropriate procedures and processes in place to manage this.’

Strictly’s Pros Furious over Treatment by Former Partners amid Abuse Claims

Strictly Come Dancing’s professionals are reportedly furious they’ve been ‘hung out to dry’ by their former celebrity partners, as claims of abuse and bullying from former contestants continue to grow.

The show has been engulfed in a growing crisis in recent weeks, with multiple stars making accusations of abuse and bullying towards their partners during their time on the BBC show.

Now, as the professionals returned to training this week, sources are claiming that many feel they haven’t been protected by BBC bosses as ‘more and more’ celebrities come forward.

A source told The Mirror: ‘It’s causing untold stress and mental anguish to so many of them as every day there are new accusations.

‘Yes, one or two of the celebs in the last 20 years might have had a bad experience but they are in a tiny minority. The whole thing smacks of ambulance chasing.’

It’s also been reported that dancers are calling for BBC bosses to introduce more stringent psychological testing while casting for the show, pointing to ITV rival shows such as Love Island and Dancing On Ice.

Duty of protocols from Love Island bosses show they offer ‘pre-filming psychological and medical assessments including assessments by an independent doctor, psychological consultant and reports from each Islander’s own GP to check medical history.’

The source added: ‘It’s a tough show and some celebs aren’t prepared for what it entails and just want to enjoy the publicity and airtime. Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that.’

MailOnline has contacted a representative for the BBC for comment.

As this year’s pros headed back to rehearsals on Tuesday, some were quick to share subtle messages of support for the show.

The stars of the scandal-hit BBC stalwart flashed peace signs and made heart shapes with their hands as they arrived at the studio in London’s Camden.

Their show of love for the programme came as BBC chief Tim Davie apologised for the alleged mistreatment that some celebrities have claimed to have experienced.

Finally breaking his silence on the scandal, the director general said he was ‘very sorry’ to anyone who ‘has had an experience on Strictly that hasn’t been wholly positive’ and vowed to ‘reflect on’ the complaints that have been made.

The insider told us: ‘This year’s Strictly is the 20th anniversary and it will be a celebration of the show and its history.

‘The BBC will want to draw an immediate line under what has happened. The show can’t start soon enough’.

As the stars of the show reunited at the studio, many made their feelings known as they shared cryptic signs of support.

Luba Mushtuk wore a jacket which had the phrase ‘don’t do chit chat’ printed across the back, while Nikita Kuzmin flashed a peace sign and Aljaz Skorjanec a thumbs up.

Despite the recent furore surrounding the show, Aljaz he made a cheery arrival for rehearsals.

Celebrities have been forming a ‘secret support group’ to ‘compare notes’ about their experience on Strictly amid claims show veterans are at risk of being axed.

Strictly is reportedly in ‘panic mode’ behind the scenes amid the show’s ongoing misconduct chaos as things get ‘worse by the day’.

Davie was speaking to journalists on the BBC’s annual report day as he delivered a speech on the future of the corporation.

He said there will inevitably be ‘competitiveness, hard work and the will to do well’ on the show, ‘but there are limits and the line should never be crossed’.  He added: ‘We will never tolerate unacceptable behaviour of any kind.’

Asked if he is confident the show will go ahead this series, Mr Davie said: ‘I need to be assured we have the right safeguarding and duty of care in place, and that is the first question I ask.

‘I am assured by the robust actions we have taken in terms of the changes we have made … that we are in a position to deliver a very good season this year and that has been my focus.’

He continued: ‘With that assurance, I’m looking forward to the next season.’

Addressing how he felt when the allegations first emerged about the show, he said he was ‘disappointed’.

He added: ‘I’m very sorry that anyone has had an experience on Strictly that hasn’t been wholly positive, I think that is something we do reflect on, and I’m sorry about that.’

Mr Davie told journalists: ‘Strictly is a wonderful show that brings a lot of joy to a lot of people, and has done so for 20 years, to both those involved with the show itself and to millions of people at home.

‘Hundreds of people, be they pros, contestants or crew, have been part of it and had a brilliant experience.

‘At the same time, if someone feels there was something wrong or they wanted to talk about their experience, then, of course, we want them to raise that with us and be in no doubt, we will take it seriously, listen and deal with it as appropriate.

‘While I’m not going to talk about individuals, you can see evidence of that in recent weeks. So, I hope that anyone who does want to talk to us feels they can.

‘It is vital that we have the right protocols and structures in place for the show. We keep these under review, and as you know we confirmed changes to these last week. It is essential these are right for everyone.

‘Of course, alongside the fun and entertainment, there will be a degree of competitiveness, hard work, and a will to do well, that’s part of what makes this show. But there are limits and the line should never be crossed.

‘We will never tolerate unacceptable behaviour of any kind.

On Sunday, former contestant Will Bayley became the latest star to speak about his experiences on the show, after concerns were raised about the treatment of contestants Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott.

The BBC show has been engulfed by drama since Giovanni Pernice was suspended after his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington accused him of abusive behaviour, saying he was ‘cruel and mean.’ He denies the claims.

It was followed by Graziano Di Prima’s sacking last month over reports he verbally and physically abused Zara McDermott during rehearsals. Graziano has apologised for kicking his former partner and added other allegations do not align with ‘how he remembers it.’

Now a source has told The Mirror: ‘This crisis shows no signs of abating. it’s fill panic stations mode as there is not a clear path out of this mess.

Before adding: ‘It’s getting worse by the day’.

It follows reports that former Strictly contestants are reportedly forming a ‘secret support group’ to discuss their experience with pro dancers on the show.

Celebrities have been ‘comparing notes and building cases’ against their previous partner to bring to BBC bosses, as more and more stars speak out.

As insiders fear the family show is ‘fatally tarnished’, it seems the list of allegations could be getting bigger as former celebs form an alliance.

A source told The Sun: ‘Lots of the celebrities that have been on the show are getting together, calling each other and WhatsApping each other.

‘They’re saying, “Well, this one did this to me, did this happen to you? Was this right? I was pushed. Or I got a bruised toe,” and building cases to what shouldn’t have been allowed. They’re all comparing notes, as it were.’

The source added: ‘So, it’s really the celebs versus the dancers and former dancers, who are all worried for their jobs now because the celebs have got back their power.’

BBC bosses are reportedly considering axing five of it’s longest- serving dancers.

A source told The Sun: ‘There’s the fear that being on the show leaves them more open to feeling entitled and untouchable’.

‘It’s not a done deal, and it’s not just going to be a case of the oldest or longest-serving being shown the door. It would be a carefully considered process, with other factors taken into account too.

Before adding: ‘The fact that the BBC are even considering making big changes and bringing in fresh blood is a sign of how keen they are to move on and make every effort to ensure nothing like this happens again’.

It follows MailOnline’s exclusive that the show’s most senior boss’ job is under threat following the huge scandal that’s currently engulfing the hit BBC One ballroom show.

Suzy Lamb, who is in charge of all of BBC Studio’s entertainment programmes – including Strictly – is fighting for her role as the Corporation undergoes a restructure.

Sources inside the BBC suggest that fall out on the Saturday night dance series will ‘harm’ her chances of getting a newly merged job which she is fighting another colleague to win.

The Beeb will be merging Ms Lamb’s role as Managing Director of Entertainment and Music, with Hannah Wyatt’s job as Managing Director of Factual Entertainment ad Events Productions – leaving only one job open.

As insiders fear the family show is ‘fatally tarnished’, it seems the list of allegations could be getting bigger as former celebs form an alliance

The new role will create a giant new unscripted division at BBC Studios which will oversee entertainment, music, factual and events.

Both women joined the corporation in 2017 but the feeling is that Ms Wyatt will get the newly greatly role.

Lamb joined BBC Studios from production company Thames, where she was head of entertainment and launched Take Me Out with Paddy McGuinness as well as overseeing X-Factor.

A source said: ‘The Strictly scandal has been very damaging to Suzy. She’s the top boss so the buck stops with her. There’s clearly been a culture behind the scenes on the show, and with every former contestant that speaks out, it all comes back to Suzy.’

Steve Backshall complained to the BBC about his professional partner on Strictly Come Dancing Ola Jordan back in 2014 claiming she ‘bullied’ him.

The hardened explorer and presenter – who has dived with Great White sharks and wrestled poisonous snakes in his career – lodged a complaint with the channel after struggling in gruelling practice sessions

After he made the complaint the pair were assigned a chaperone to follow them around after he refused to be alone with the now 41-year-old Polish-born dancer.

The programme’s bosses were forced to step in after he alleged that she had dented his confidence with her ‘rude and impatient’ manner.

A source close to the show explained at the time: ‘Steve is a very bouncy personality, up for any challenge, but Ola’s harsh treatment has flattened him and made him lose confidence.

‘She was very rude and impatient when he found it difficult to master the shapes for last Saturday’s Charleston.

‘Her choreography and tuition was so tough, Steve resorted to asking other people to show him what he had to do.

‘Ola is a cold and very distant personality, who refuses to mix with Steve’s family and friends,’ the source added.

It is understood that Steve complained directly to one of the Strictly producers after their Halloween-themed Charleston.

Bosses then called Ola in for a meeting and agreed that she and Steve would be accompanied at all times while they remained in the competition.

At the time Steve told how he struggled with the physical demands of the series.

He told the Daily Mail he was unable to point the toes of his left foot because his ankle was fused in a near-fatal climbing accident in 2008.

A show insider said at the time: ‘Ola is a strict taskmaster. She sees real potential in Steve and thinks he could go the distance in the competition.

‘She took the trophy with Chris Hollins and would love to win again – and with the mums’ and kids’ votes behind them, Steve is a real contender.’

Meanwhile questions have been raised over whether Strictly will survive as Janette Manrara has broken her silence after Paralympian Will Bayley claimed she made him redo a jump that caused a lifelong injury – amid the latest drama for the ‘fatally tarnished’ show

A BBC spokesperson for the It Takes Two host said the professional dancer has never received any complaints regarding her training methods.

Table tennis player Will, 36, claimed he sustained a lifelong injury while jumping during a performance on the show and blamed his then-partner Janette.

A representative for Janette told the BBC: ‘Janette had a great time dancing with Will and one of her favourite moments on the show was doing their contemporary couples choice.

‘Her celebrity partner’s safety and enjoyment was always the priority throughout her time on Strictly.

‘Janette has never received any complaints and has maintained friendships with all her partners, including Will.’

Will was born with arthrogryposis which limits the range of motion in the joints of his limbs and completed the move with straight knees. He opened up about the daily pain he suffers from over the weekend.

A resurfaced clip aired during that year’s live shows has shown the devastating moment Will was curled up on the floor in pain after the jump.

The video heard Tess explaining that Will had been injured and would not be dancing that week, as it cut to the sportsman lying on the floor in agony with a medic crouched down helping with first aid.

Janette was also seen visibly distressed as she sat comforting her celebrity partner. In a later part of the video, Janette was herself consoled by fellow professional dancer Nancy Xu.

‘I jumped off the table and as I landed, I landed with straight legs,’ Will said in the VT at the time.

‘I thought I’d broke my leg because I’d never felt anything like it before but luckily it’s not as severe as what I thought when I first did it.

‘To hear the words I “absolutely can’t dance” is just really gutting for me but I need to recover now and come back even stronger next week.’

Will was given a week’s pass before he had to withdraw from the competition completely when his injury meant he would have to miss another live show.

Recalling the ‘horrific pain’ he experienced as he crashed to the ground, the gold medallist, admitted he thought ‘his whole career was over.

Strictly Boosts Security Amid Pro Dancers’ Abuse Scandal Fears

Strictly Come Dancing bosses have hired ‘extra security’ in case professional dancers faced backlash at rehearsals, according to new reports.

Pro dancers were seen returning back to training, amid the abuse scandals, this week after MailOnline revealed bosses are keen to get the series under way.

Katya Jones was reportedly ‘really worried’ about the ‘possible backlash’ that the professionals could face and so is relieved security was hired.

A source told The Sun: ‘The BBC clearly didn’t want to take any chances though and had security there with them. They kept a low key presence but were keeping an eye out.

‘Katya remarked that she was pleased they were there because she had been worried about a possible backlash.’

MailOnline have contacted the BBC for a comment.

Some pro dancers showed subtle messages of support for the show as they arrived at rehearsals for the upcoming series on Tuesday.

Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly in ‘panic mode’ behind the scenes amid the show’s ongoing misconduct chaos as things get ‘worse by the day’.

Mr Davie was speaking to journalists on the BBC’s annual report day as he delivered a speech on the future of the corporation.

The BBC show has been engulfed by drama since Giovanni Pernice was suspended after his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington accused him of abusive behaviour, saying he was ‘cruel and mean.’ He denies the claims

Yesterday, former contestant Will Bayley became the latest star to speak about his experiences on the show, after concerns were raised about the treatment of contestants Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott.

The new role will create a giant new unscripted division at BBC Studios which will oversee entertainment, music, factual and events.

Both women joined the corporation in 2017 but the feeling is that Ms Wyatt will get the newly greatly role.

Ms Lamb joined BBC Studios from production company Thames, where she was head of entertainment and launched Take Me Out with Paddy McGuinness as well as overseeing X-Factor.

A source said: ‘The Strictly scandal has been very damaging to Suzy. She’s the top boss so the buck stops with her. There’s clearly been a culture behind the scenes on the show, and with every former contestant that speaks out, it all comes back to Suzy.’

Meanwhile questions have been raised over whether Strictly will survive as Janette Manrara has broken her silence after Paralympian Will Bayley claimed she made him redo a jump that caused a lifelong injury – amid the latest drama for the ‘fatally tarnished’ show

Speaking to The Sun, Will said: ‘We practiced a few times and I was really careful. But then Janette said my jump was ‘rubbish’ and I needed to smile more and go for it and show a bit of passion.’

Determined to improve, the sportsman ‘went for it’ but experienced ‘the most horrific pain.’

‘I was lying on the floor thinking my whole career was over. I heard my leg crack, I couldn’t breathe,’ he recounted.

‘I’ll never get over that injury — you have it for life. I’ve already got a limiting disability but this on top of it. I wake up in the morning and it hurts. I can now only train for a couple hours before it’s sore.’

Will explained that he ‘didn’t have an issue with Janette’ but felt that she was under pressure from the show’s bosses. They have remained friends since their time on the series.

He described hearing his knee ‘pop’ and thought he had broken his leg before a doctor told him he had torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

Appearing on the show as part of the audience, Will said : ‘I am so gutted but it’s so good to be here to support everyone, they’re all smashing it tonight.
