A month ago, Gregg Wallace cremated his mother. Mary Pettman, 80, suffered a fatal heart attack in her sleep as her son was overwhelmed by a tsunami of lurid allegations about inappropriate behaviour on BBC’s MasterChef.

His mum could never really understand why people were, as she said, ‘picking on’ him.

‘She was always very proud of me. I’m her eldest and, of course, I was on the telly. I think it’s terribly sad that in the last days of her life she was reading horrible things about me and witnessing my disgrace,’ says Gregg, 60, who stepped down from MasterChef five months ago while complaints from 13 women about historical allegations of misconduct were investigated.

The findings, which are expected to largely find in Gregg’s favour, will be made public next month.

‘Mum was a spiritualist. I was always sceptical but I’m really hoping she was right. I hope she’s up there looking down and sees my recovery.’

He struggles to control the tears that threaten to spill. None of this is easy for Gregg. He loved his mother ‘to bits’ and she always had his back.

Gregg Wallace with his wife Anna at their home in Kent. Anna is a shy woman but is determined to speak up for her husband

She was there for him when he was vilified for saying, in an incendiary online rant, that the allegations came from ‘a handful of middle-class women of a certain age’.

So widespread was the outrage that even Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer condemned Gregg’s words as ‘completely inappropriate and misogynistic.’

‘Mum phoned and said, “Love, what’s going on? The Prime Minister’s talking about you. Who have you upset? Why are they picking on you?”

‘I said, “I’ve said something really stupid. They’re investigating my behaviour, but more and more people are coming forward with complaints about me. Mum, they’re not all true. I haven’t done these things.’

‘She said, “I don’t believe you have.”’

Gregg, who until that point had only faced two complaints in a 20-year career that saw him work with as many as 4,000 contestants and crew on programmes such as MasterChef, MasterChef: The Professionals and Celebrity MasterChef, was at breaking point when he posted that video on Instagram shortly after stepping down.

‘I hadn’t slept for four days. The feeling of being under attack, of isolation, of abandonment was overwhelming. Nobody from the BBC contacted me once these stories started breaking – absolutely nobody at all.

‘News channels were updating hourly with new allegations. There was a tidal wave of abuse on social media, a dozen reporters outside the gate. You’re watching yourself get personally ripped apart, criticised, accused of all sorts of stuff over and over again. You’re thinking, “This isn’t true. It isn’t true. What’s coming next?”

When the horrible ¿nightmare¿ began, Gregg felt so soiled he couldn¿t bring himself to touch his wife for weeks

‘You don’t sleep. Your chest races. Your body feels like it’s shutting down because it can’t cope with the levels of stress. You feel really dirty and horrible because everybody is saying you’re a pervert.

‘Women – big, respected personalities I thought I had a decent relationship with – were attacking me.’

Newsnight host Kirsty Wark, 70, accused Gregg of telling ‘sexualised’ jokes during the filming of Celebrity MasterChef in 2011.

He maintains he was never aware that he had offended her until her complaint became public.

‘I thought we got on. She made it to the final three, so we were together for three months. I can clearly remember drinking champagne with her at the end of the show and sharing jokes.

‘I hadn’t seen the complaint so I didn’t know what it was. I thought, “What have I done?” I literally didn’t understand it.’

Other respected media figures, including broadcasters Vanessa Feltz, 63, and Kirstie Allsopp, 53, also made complaints.

‘Vanessa Feltz really knocked me for six. She had a story from a friend of hers who said she’d overheard me saying something sexual in a lift. I’ve always got on well with Vanessa. I’ve been on her show. We even swapped messages on social media.

‘I’m thinking, “Really, Vanessa, you’re weighing in with something someone else told you that I was supposed to have said in a lift? I thought you liked me”.

‘Then there was Kirstie [Allsopp] who said I was in a green room with her and my ex-wife. She said my ex-wife went out and I talked about [a sex act] I’d done with her. But it [the sex act] is not my thing. I tried it once when I was 28 and didn’t like it so I wouldn’t have said that.

‘I’m like, “Ladies, what are you doing? What’s happening here?”

‘That’s what was going through my mind when I lashed out. There was no strategy. I was just angry. I wanted to shout.’

Gregg’s voice cracks. This is the first interview he has given since the accusations were made. He tells me the crippling feeling of tension returns when he talks about it. Last weekend he suffered chest pains, worrying his lovely wife of nine years, Anna.

She is here now in their idyllic home in Kent, where there are songbirds on the wallpaper and stables in the six-acre grounds. Anna is a shy woman but is determined to speak up for her husband.

When the horrible ‘nightmare’ began, Gregg felt so soiled he couldn’t bring himself to touch his wife for weeks.

‘I’d give him a hug, put my hand on his leg, any sort of physical touch. I told him, “Whenever you’re ready we can be back to how it was before. There’s no rush. No pressure,”‘ Anna says.

‘I wanted him to know I knew he wasn’t the person the media was portraying him to be. He’s a warm family man who would do anything for anyone.

‘About a week into it all, he broke down in the hallway. He was sobbing, “I’m broken. They’ve beaten me. They’ve completely ruined my name.”

‘It just got too much for him. He’s quite a strong man who doesn’t show emotion, so for him to break down crying was just…’

Anna, who dearly loves the man she met 12 years ago, tails off, tearful. ‘I was scared he’d crumble completely.’

Soon the number of complainants had risen from 13 to 30. There were allegations he’d walked around the set naked with a sock on his penis doing a silly dance in front of the production team (‘Not true,’ he says), told inappropriate jokes (‘Probably true; some of what’s been said sounds like the sort of comments I’d have made’) and groped crew members (‘Absolutely not true’).

A distraught Gregg, who maintains he has never knowingly bullied or sexually harassed anyone, couldn’t make sense of it.

‘I phoned eight different members of MasterChef including [celebrity chefs] Monica [Galetti] and Marcus [Wareing] and said, “Could you help me out please, because I’ve got no memory of this? Can you ever remember me touching anybody on set?”

‘They said, “Absolutely not. Never.” Monica said she’d have hit me if I had. I was like, “OK, thanks. I thought I was going mad.’

‘As for wandering around the studio naked with a sock on my kn**, I was actually in my dressing room getting ready for a black-tie charity [event] 18 years ago.

‘We’d finished filming, so the studio was empty apart from Monica and two of my other mates who were on the sofa beside my dressing room. I could see them outside the door. I think they were drinking.

‘I had my dress shirt and bowtie on, put the sock over my private bits, opened my door quickly, went “Hooray”, then closed it again.

‘Monica says it’s one of the funniest things she’s ever seen. She still tells the story. So, the people who said they saw it, didn’t. They just heard about it.’

Gregg says that many of those who work with him are appalled by what is happening. His MasterChef co-host John Torode has phoned twice.

‘He wanted to know if I was OK and to say sorry about my mum. Marcus tells me to stay strong and Monica just wants me to clear this up and get back to the studio,’ says Gregg.

‘Look, I don’t want to make myself sound innocent because, I’ve come to realise, I must have offended a lot of people over the years when you look at the number of complaints.

‘But people on MasterChef are in a very stressed situation and many of them are going to leave disappointed with shattered dreams. I think there has been a lot of misunderstanding of my intention, and so many of the complaints are from so long ago. There’s a difference between what they think I said and what was actually said.’

Sir Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster accused Gregg of bullying and harassing her on Celebrity MasterChef four years ago.

‘There was a falling out between me and her, but I only had a brief recollection,’ says Gregg. ‘Luckily enough there’s film of it – the rushes [raw footage], not the edited stuff you see on the telly. It’s Penny and me having a disagreement over whether an orchid should stay on a bowl of soup or not. I’m not joking.

‘I want to take the orchid off because it’s not edible. She wants it to stay on.’

He shakes his head. ‘It’s a shame. I really like Rod Stewart. I’ve been to see him three times. I understand he’s defending his wife.

‘I honestly never meant to upset anyone. I thought I was going in every day and just delivering what was wanted. I didn’t realise I was causing any problems.’

Gregg now understands, since being diagnosed with autism partway through this investigation, that his social filter is different to many of ours. He can overshare and often fails to read a room. He is also remorselessly honest.

‘I want to make it absolutely clear I’m not blaming my behaviour on my diagnosis, but it does explain a hell of a lot to me,’ he says.

‘Although I’m still trying to compute why, if my persona on the telly was pissing so many people off for all those years, nobody told me at the time.’

In truth, the loud, energetic former greengrocer we saw on TV is only a small part of Gregg.

‘I’ve always wondered why people think you can’t love a roasted grouse as well as a Big Mac,’ he says. ‘I’m a working-class Londoner but I’m also a massive history buff with a real interest in English literature, architecture and art.’

Gregg is also an introspective man with a gift for laughter, who is happiest with his family. This includes two grown-up children, Tom, 31, and Libby, 27, from an earlier marriage, and Sid, his profoundly autistic, non-verbal five-year-old son with his fourth wife Anna, 38.

Since his own diagnosis earlier this year, Gregg has a ‘greater empathy’ for his son.

‘It’s almost like we’re a little gang. Last night over dinner I said to Anna, “I always thought it came from you because I’ve had two children previously who seemed to be neurotypical. Now I know it wasn’t you or your family. It was me all along.’’’

Sid is an engaging, affectionate boy but, such are his challenges, he can be a handful.

Anna’s mother Rina, who shares the family home in Kent, is a huge support. She is beside herself to see Gregg brought so low. He has shown her nothing but kindness. When her husband Massimo was dying from lung cancer a year before the MasterChef allegations broke, Gregg stuck a hospital bed in the TV room, insisting they cared for him at home.

‘Gregg can be so generous,’ says Anna. ‘He has this need for people to like him. He might as well wear a T-shirt saying, “Like me, like me” in big flashing lights.’

Journalists began investigating Gregg’s behaviour on MasterChef last summer. He says, ‘I naively thought, “How long is it going to take them before they realise I just come home and read history books? What are they going to find?” All right, I might tell a joke about a three-legged nun or a wonky donkey, but I haven’t done anything wrong.’

‘I never thought I’d be put in a sack and thrown in the river for comments I made 20 years ago. What was normal to us all then isn’t now.’

Gregg joined MasterChef with John Torode in 2005. Their light-hearted banter, laced with sexual innuendo, helped the show become one of the most successful programmes on the BBC in an age when parties, not people, were cancelled; snowflakes were iced crystals that fell in cold weather; and Trigger was a fictional character in the much-loved Only Fools And Horses, not a woke warning about outdated attitudes that was slapped on the classic comedy earlier this year.

Gregg fully expects to be held to account for some of his smuttier historic jokes. ‘I was very slow to wake up to the changing nature of the work environment. It wasn’t until seven years ago that I had a massive wake-up call and realised the loud, energetic greengrocer persona I was on the telly was, maybe, becoming redundant. So I changed.’

Seven years ago, Gregg was disciplined by the BBC for inappropriate behaviour while working on a quiz show, after telling a young runner on the final day of filming that he’d ‘really enjoyed working with her, she was brilliantly clever, strikingly attractive and was going to do well’.

‘They said that was improper because it was a personal remark and sent me on a course on how to communicate with younger people, which just confused me even more.

‘I thought, “F***, I don’t have to do very much to get into a lot of trouble here.”’

Gregg stopped socialising with young people. When on location, he’d order room service rather than join them for dinner or a drink.

‘When they asked me why I said, “You make me nervous. The sensibilities of a 60-year-old man are different to a 25-year-old’s. You live in a complaint culture that never existed when I was younger. If I go out with you and drink and offer an opinion, whether that be political or social, I’m scared you’re going to complain.”

‘They’d say, “But Gregg, it’s us!” I’d say, “I know but you scare me – you all scare me.”

‘There have been no complaints, apart from Penny Lancaster, about my behaviour since 2018, but my anxiety levels have been off the scale. My job requires big energy. You’re like a wound-up Tigger.

‘Your chances of tripping up are extraordinary. I reckon two or three times a week I’d go to the production office after work and ask, “Did I say anything wrong today?”

‘I’ll give you an example: recently John Torode said to this young fellow, “You’ve got really big chillies”. Then I said, “Don’t forget, John’s told you you’ve got big chillies.”

‘Afterwards I’m thinking, “That’s almost sexual. Will they think I’m referring to his testicles?”

‘I told Anna and my mother-in-law Rina what I said. I went over and over it. I was phoning the director in a panic in the evening. I couldn’t sleep. The anxiety was extraordinary because if I could get into trouble for calling someone attractive what else could I get into trouble for?’

Gregg now understands journalists contacted no fewer than 100 women. Early allegations were investigated by MasterChef management, who decided there was no case to answer until two women made complaints to the BBC of sexualised behaviour 18 years earlier, including the story about him walking naked around a busy studio with a sock on his penis.

The BBC advised the MasterChef production company Banijay UK to suspend Gregg and launch an independent investigation.

He was told on Zoom on November 26.

‘I didn’t realise the enormity of it because I thought I hadn’t done anything bad,’ says Gregg.

Two days later Banijay UK issued a statement inviting anyone with any concerns to contact it.

‘My world tumbled in,’ says Gregg. ‘At this point my name is being linked with Jimmy Savile and Huw Edwards. The abuse on social media is just phenomenal and the stuff hitting the papers was…’ He wells up.

‘I think it’s vital there are channels open for vulnerable people to complain if they are being bullied, harassed or made to feel uncomfortable, but the system hasn’t been perfected. It doesn’t work if the person is a public figure and everything becomes a public trial.

‘Crying out loud, I had no idea where all these people were coming from. Then I went completely wild and blamed it all on middle-class women. It was the biggest mistake but, by far, the best thing I could have done.’

Because, finally, a senior executive from MasterChef contacted Gregg.

‘He was the first person I’d spoken to in days. Nobody should be left on their own to face something like this. It’s very difficult to explain the pressure unless you’ve been through it. I thought about suicide all the time: “Is my insurance up to date? Will Anna get some money? She doesn’t deserve this. It would be better if I wasn’t here.”

‘The MasterChef exec said, “Mate, what are you doing?”

‘I told him I had to speak out because people were saying what they liked about me and it wasn’t true. I said, “It just keeps on and on. What am I supposed to do?”

Banijay UK arranged for a crisis mentor to support him. She was ‘the life raft’ he ‘clung to’, insisting he had a mental health screening. He was diagnosed with profound autism.

Those that know Gregg are not exactly surprised.

For years he had turned up in various production offices asking exactly what clothes he had to wear and when to expect mealtimes. His shirts had to be lined up in his dressing room and his trousers folded. He needs rules, structure.

His diary runs with the precision of the swanky Cartier watch on his wrist, setting out the time he cleans his teeth, the time he shaves, the time he goes to the gym and so on. There’s even a reminder to give Anna a ‘spontaneous’ hug.

Interviewers have been writing about his lack of a filter for years, while colleagues often tease him about being ‘odd’.

‘John and I had an argument over what was “travelling” and what was “going on holiday” because I couldn’t get a definitive answer. This has been going on for two years because so many of the contestants say they went travelling but, to me, it sounds like they’ve been on holiday.

‘The producers are like, “Mate, will you stay on the food?” I’m saying, “No. I need to know what constitutes travelling. How long were you away? How many hotels?’ John’s like, “Will you just f***ing drop it?”’

Quite how the BBC did not suspect Gregg, who is one of its most prolific stars, was neurodiverse or offer him any support is baffling.

Indeed, despite his obvious distress in recent months (he has said on Instagram he ‘wasn’t in a good head space’, ‘was under a huge amount of stress’ and felt ‘very alone’) he says that the BBC didn’t so much as lift up the phone to support him until a few weeks ago, when it sent an email to arrange a meeting to discuss his historic behaviour.

The email, from the BBC’s HR department, included the BBC Code of Conduct and the BBC values. Later that day they sent a second email with links to organisations such as the Samaritans, NHS mental health support lines and two suicide helplines.

‘Everything’s fine while everything’s fine and lots of people are making lots of money, but the moment that the wind starts to change, f*** me,’ says Gregg.

‘I didn’t know when I signed up to do a television show 20 years ago that this was how it was going to play out. If I had, there is no way I’d have put my name on that bit of paper. It hasn’t been worth it. You’re almost signing a pact with the devil.

‘I’d just like the people who are saying this stuff about me to come here for an evening – meet Anna, meet Sid, meet Rina – and realise there are human beings here. It is not just me going through this, it’s all of us, and I’m really struggling to understand the motivation for it.’

Inside Gregg Wallace’s comeback: Truth about what’s happening with the investigation, his state of mind – and the VERY surprising young woman who’s helping him, revealed by ALISON BOSHOFF

Compared to the storm under which he retreated from public life, Gregg Wallace’s return to social media this week was surprisingly low key.

No Cockney banter, no grinning selfies, no showing off his post-health kick dad bod.

Rather, the 60-year-old erstwhile MasterChef presenter reappeared (at least a pair of hands, which may or may not have been his, did) with a 30-second video for his Instagram followers about making protein pancakes.

The video had no voiceover, not even a recipe, just an accompanying note from Gregg that read ‘easy n’ healthy Gregg Wallace Health’, a reference to his new lifestyle business.

It’s now ten weeks since the greengrocer-turned-television star’s career spectacularly derailed amid a flurry of claims of inappropriate behaviour during his 19-year stint as co-host of MasterChef.

It was announced the father-of-three would be stepping back from the BBC show amid an investigation into his conduct. It later emerged that 13 individuals, including Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, had reportedly accused him of ‘wrong’ and ‘sexualised’ behaviour during filming across a range of shows over a 17-year period.

Inside Gregg Wallace’s comeback: Truth about what’s happening with the investigation, his state of mind – and the VERY surprising young woman who’s helping him, revealed by ALISON BOSHOFF

Gregg Wallace stepped back from MasterChef amid an investigation into his conduct over a period of 17 years

Three days after the announcement, the presenter landed himself with more opprobrium when he declared that his accusers were ‘middle-class women of a certain age’ and claimed that ‘absolutely none’ of the staff on his other shows had complained about him.

It was an extraordinary statement. Afterwards, Gregg released a somewhat red-faced apology, stating: ‘I wasn’t in a good headspace when I posted it. I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion.’

Lawyers, meanwhile, said it was entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature.

And then came silence – until this week.

Gregg’s last post on social media (he still has 224,000 followers on Instagram) was on November 27 – just one day before the allegations against him made headlines.

So just what has been going on in the world of the once perennially chirpy, now curiously quiet, Gregg Wallace?

According to locals in the peaceful Kent village of Biddenden, near to Gregg’s home, he has been ‘lying low’ here too.

One said: ‘He always used to say hello. We haven’t seen or heard him for weeks.’

MasterChef: The Professionals goes into production this summer. A review into the presenter's behaviour is due to be concluded at the end of the month, the Mail understands

MasterChef: The Professionals goes into production this summer. A review into the presenter’s behaviour is due to be concluded at the end of the month, the Mail understands

Neither has the presenter been seen picking up fish from his local farm shop, which he previously described in a much-mocked account of his daily routine.

A worker at the Hartley Farm Shop and Cafe, in nearby Cranbrook, told the Mail: ‘I’ve not seen him since the whole fallout. He was always having a laugh in here with people. It’s a shame really.’

The Mail understands that the ‘review’ into Gregg’s behaviour on MasterChef is due to be concluded by the end of the month, but that he has yet to be interviewed by the external team in charge of it, who were commissioned by production company Banijay.

A spokesman for Banijay said the investigation is still ongoing and there was no ‘date for issue’ at this stage.

But if it was done and dusted before March, that would allow the team to make a decision about who should present the next iteration in the massively successful series, which will be MasterChef: The Professionals which goes into production this summer.

So with the future of his TV career decidedly uncertain, has Gregg been licking his wounds all this time, or has the perpetual chameleon – he started out as a cabbie and window cleaner – been coming up with new plans?

It’s not in the nature of the ever-optimistic Gregg to admit defeat and television sources tell the Mail that while he has been spending time with his family he’s also been focusing on Gregg Wallace Health.

‘That’s his main other thing outside of the TV presenting,’ says one source.

This is not, in fact, a new venture – he launched the subscription-based platform in 2019.

It offers weekly meal plans and recipes, plus motivation and nutritional advice for those wanting to emulate Gregg’s own journey – he shed five stone after overhauling his lifestyle – and drop some pounds.

Gregg’s foray back onto social media understandably shows how importantly he views his business.

On Instagram, the protein pancakes video was swiftly followed by a similar post for breakfast crumble. ‘Healthy shouldn’t be dull, expensive or difficult,’ was the brief missive accompanying the latter.

On Thursday night Gregg shared his third meal inspiration video of the week – veggie noodles; while Friday morning there was a post in praise of cottage cheese.

The presenter (he manages his own Instagram account) kept a lid on personal messages, but did make sure to ‘like’ almost every single one of the long string of comments from followers welcoming his return. There was even the occasional ‘hi’ and an ‘x’.

As for those seeking recipes, he directed them to his website greggwallace.health.

But whereas once he was an almost daily presence on the health platform’s Instagram page, too, followers will note that 2025 has begun with a new frontwoman – all be it one with a familiar face.

Because the Mail can reveal she is none other than Gregg’s daughter, Libby, one of his two grown-up children from his second marriage to pastry chef Denise Lovell, to whom he was married to between 1999 and 2004. She died in 2017.

Libby, 29, who got engaged last October and bears an uncanny resemblance to her father, had been a back office presence in her dad’s business, but emerged from behind the camera on January 12.

Not that the smiling blonde says who her father is.

‘Hi lovelies. So I just wanted to introduce myself,’ she says. ‘I’m Libby. I am one of the team from behind the scenes at GWH [Gregg Wallace Health]. I helped build this business, four years ago during lockdown, and I have been running our social media ever since.

‘So I thought it was about time that I hold myself responsible and I come out and I share my journey with you. I am on my own personal weight loss journey, I have decided to follow the Gregg Wallace Health plan completely.

‘I know lots of you will be going, why haven’t you already done that, you’ve been running it for four years. I know, I watched person after person after person achieve their dreams and smash their goals and I don’t know, I don’t know why to be perfectly honest with you. I think life got in the way.’

She goes on, in frank and engaging fashion (a much softer version of her dad), to say she does not like the way she looks and that she is getting married next year and wants to ‘feel nice’, not just for her wedding but ‘for my life’.

She has continued to post videos, most recently on Monday when she spoke of her crashing ‘fear of failure’, after going public with her weight loss journey.

As a screen presence, she is charming. But it is, of course, Gregg’s persona, advice and experience that most subscribers sign up for.

He, meanwhile, appeared to be in a reflective mood this week.

In a particularly contemplative blog, titled ‘Progress not Perfection’ for health plan followers, he mused: ‘What is perfection anyway? No such thing right?’

In words that might seem laced with irony, given all that has passed, he goes on: ‘We should all of us be trying to improve our lives bit by bit.

‘In terms of our weight and our health that’s incredibly important. But we may also want to be trying to get a little bit happier, a little bit more financially secure or perhaps just a little bit more chilled out.’

Later he adds: ‘Just be mindful of all the decisions that we make throughout the day. Just ask yourself what you can do that will make each of these a little bit better.

‘Can you imagine the progress you would make if you constantly did that? Don’t worry ever and I mean this about slipping up! Mistakes are never the end of your journey. See them for what they really are, they are simply slip ups, you are only human. If you learn a lesson from them that is a major step forward.’

Following his exit from the BBC cookery show, Gregg Wallace Health slashed prices and offered customers £40 off an £89.99 annual subscription, which could, of course, simply have been a marketing tactic in advance of the new year period when many people turn to self improvement.

The discount no longer seems to apply, but the website – which includes recipes curated by Anna, his wife of nine years – proudly declares ‘Lose Weight & Keep It Off!’ promising to help users find a ‘sustainable way to lose weight’ with ‘lasting results’.

At the time controversy flared, Gregg had already revealed plans to launch a range of healthy frozen ready meals; plans that he may well have intended to pursue with a little more fanfare than the eventual – distinctly low key – launch last month.

The meals, which include bang bang chicken noodles and lentil and aubergine parmigiana can be ordered from his website in packs of five or eight, at £8 or £7.50 each.

Gregg, however, has had little to say about them – save for a launch video, which appears to have been filmed before the MasterChef debacle – it is dated November 28.

On Thursday morning he posted a short video to his Instagram Stories; it was of a countryside view – presumably that of the fields he sees each morning from the very comfortable Kent farmhouse he shares with Anna, 37, her mother Rina and their son Sid, five.

‘Make a great start. What are you not gonna do today?’ declares the motivational caption. The musical accompaniment? The Korgis’ 1980 hit Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime. Whether this is another reference to his own journey we’ll never know.

A TV source says: ‘He’s basically got to wait until this investigation is concluded, so there is not a lot he can do until that’s done. So, he is in a bit of a hiatus at the moment and a bit of limbo. He is waiting to see.

‘He’s used to working. MasterChef is pretty much a year-round, full-time job. So, he is used to doing that. But he has just got to wait for this investigation to run its course.

‘I think he has come to the realisation over time that it is serious stuff.’

Perhaps, then, Gregg is heeding his own advice.

In another health blog post, on January 30, he had this to say: ‘Change we know can be uncomfortable. But please it won’t take long till your new routine routines seem incredibly natural, so natural in fact that you are no longer even considering them. They just happen. As this develops and as your new routines become your new normal you will look in the mirror one day and realise you look completely different.’

While Anna, too, has been been notably quiet with personal posts – no sharing Christmas photographs, meals out or holidays – she has, however, shared the occasional motivational message on her Instagram Stories.

‘Hang in there… In two weeks today we will have our first 5pm sunset,’ read one. ‘Brighter days and better things are coming,’ read another.

Whether brighter times see Gregg Wallace return to television screens remain to be seen.

Gregg Wallace breaks his social media silence and responds to fan comments after quitting MasterChef amid ‘sexual misconduct probe’

Gregg Wallace has finally returned to social media after stepping down from MasterChef last year amid allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

The former host, 60, left the show while TV bosses conducted an investigation into claims made by 13 individuals, including Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, accusing him of ‘wrong’ and ‘sexualised’ behaviour during filming.

Among the allegations, Gregg was accused of removing his shirt in front of a female colleague, claiming he was giving her a ‘fashion show,’ and making inappropriate remarks about his sex life to others on set.

Having co-hosted MasterChef since 2005, he ultimately resigned after the multiple complaints surfaced.

Following the scandal, Gregg went silent on social media, with his last post dating back to November 27 – just one day before the allegations made headlines.

Now, after months away, he has made an unexpected return, sharing a recipe video tutorial with his followers.

‘Welcome back Gregg, missed your posts.’

Gregg is currently under investigation by the BBC amid a raft of allegations about his misconduct.

He was initially bullish in the face of the allegations, taking to Instagram to say they mostly came from ‘middle class women of a certain age’.

He went on to ask: ‘Can you imagine how many women on MasterChef have made sexual remarks or sexual innuendo?’

Since then, several high-profile names – including TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson as well as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer – have condemned his remarks in public statements.

The former greengrocer later apologised for the controversial comments which caused a PR storm.

The under-fire presenter said of his middle class women slur: ‘I wasn’t in a good headspace when I posted it. I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion.

Among those to come forward with allegations against Wallace is a woman called Lisa, not her real name, who worked on BBC show Eat Well for Less in 2015.

She told the BBC Wallace ‘touched her inappropriately’ when they were filming in a supermarket.

‘He brushed past me at the checkout, and touched my bum with his waist and penis and laughed and said ‘oooh you liked that didn’t you’,’ she alleged.

‘It was the way he reacted, other people would’ve said ‘oh I’m sorry can I squeeze by’ which would’ve been ok.’

Lisa also claims that she felt she had to continue working but was ‘not ok about it’, describing it as ‘slimy and disgusting’. She claims she raised it with a senior colleague but that nothing was ever done.

Banijay say they have no record of this incident being raised at RDF Television, which produced Eat Well For Less.

A second woman claims that she came across Wallace while working at an event in 2022.

The woman, known only as Sarah, claims that Wallace asked her to take him to the car park at the end of the event.

‘As we walked down, he started putting his arm around me, saying ‘go on, hold my hand, don’t you want to stand next to me’,’ she told the BBC.

Other claims include talking about his sex life on set, asking for women’s numbers and repeatedly questioning a gay woman about the ‘logistics’ of dating other women.

Gregg’s lawyers said ‘it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature’.

Alan Wong has been revealed as the world’s richest chef – flaunting a staggering net-worth that is more than Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay’s combined.

The Tokyo-born restaurateur has an estimated net worth of £880 million, making it more than twice the two British chefs’ fortunes combined.

Hell’s Kitchen legend Gordon, 58, earned third place in the ranking of wealthiest chefs globally with a whooping £180 million.

Meanwhile, Jamie, 49, sits fourth on the global list after racking up an eye-watering net worth of £164 million over the years.

The Japanese-American chef became a cookery icon with his traditional Hawaiian food, where he popularised the fusion of local ingredients with traditional recipes.

Alan – who previously cooked for US President Barack Obama in 2009 – expanded his brand to several restaurants.

Celebrity chef Jamie on the other hand, has rose to stardom after appearing on The Naked Chef in the late 90s, quickly becoming a household name.

After dropping out of school at 16 to sharpen his culinary skills in Paris and London,  he cemented his status on TV after starring in a documentary in 1997 that eventually led to his own show.

Meanwhile, Gordon went from a hopeful football career to a shocking injury, bringing him to the cookery industry.

Once learning the ropes from legendary chef Marco Pierre White, the TV chef founded Gordon Ramsay Restaurants in 1997 and has been awarded 17 Michelin stars overall – and currently still holds eight.

The ranking comes as Jamie has shared his eight-year-old son River’s scathing comment about his success as a chef.

The celebrity chef has attained global fame with his numerous television shows, cook books, and restaurants over the past three decades.

However, Jamie admitted his son – who he shares with wife Jools Oliver, 50, – isn’t too impressed with his career’s trajectory.

‘The other night River said, and I have no idea where it came from, ‘Daddy, do you possess a Michelin star?” he recalled on The Graham Norton Show earlier this month.

‘I was like, ‘No, I don’t really like all that fancy food,’ and he shook his head and said, ‘You don’t like fancy food?”

Jamie laughed and admitted: ‘I actually felt like I hadn’t worked hard enough!’

The Naked Chef star appeared on the chat show alongside Sigourney Weaver, Nicholas Hoult, comedian Lolly Adefope, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

He also talked about his new cookbook Simply Jamie, explaining he wants to encourage the latest generation to appreciate cooking.

‘People are cooking less than ever – we have a fourth generation who have not learnt to cook so I want to hold people’s hands so they can get most out of food, waste as little as possible, and save money.’

Jamie shares River and four other children with Jools – who he married in July 2000 in Essex.

Discussing his cookbook, the teenager previously said: ‘None of [the recipes] are fancy or hard to do – you’ll find things like easy breakfasts, meatballs, pizza and some sweet treats.

‘I just hope people enjoy giving them a go.’

Jamie and Jools renewed their marriage in the Maldives in 2023 with their children.

The chef admitted he was initially ’embarrassed’ about the ceremony but ended up ‘probably enjoying [the day] more than anyone’

Speaking on the Newlyweds podcast he told hosts Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo: ‘We were going to renew our vows at 20 years and then Covid happened.

‘So, it was at 23 years. The girls were leaving for university and stuff, so it did feel like the nest was starting to break up.

‘We’d never been on what you would call a posh holiday, so we went to the Maldives.

‘I was a bit embarrassed about the whole thing, if I’m really honest.

‘I wasn’t so into it until we got there, and then when we got there, I think I probably enjoyed it more than anyone. It was just so nice.’

Definitive inside story of Gregg Wallace scandal revealed by KATIE HIND. How TV bosses and attack dog lawyers tried to protect TV chef… and then the charges became impossible to ignore

Wholesome, warm, funny – not to mention mouth-watering – the BBC’s flagship cookery show MasterChef has delighted viewers for nearly 20 years, with Gregg Wallace and John Torode as its charismatic and often brutally honest co-hosts.

So fans will be left with a bitter taste after Wallace, the laddish one-time greengrocer, sensationally stood down yesterday as programme chiefs launched an investigation into allegations of ‘inappropriate’ on-set behaviour. I’m told that executives at the Beeb are still reeling from the news that 13 people, including the highly respected Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, 69, have complained about Wallace’s conduct while working with him over a 17-year period across five shows from 2005 to 2022.

Wark says that in 2011, when she was on Celebrity MasterChef, Wallace told ‘sexualised’ jokes. According to the BBC, Wallace’s lawyers insist it is entirely false to claim he has engaged in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature.

Among the many other shocking allegations are those from a former member of the production team that Wallace thrust his body towards her as she knelt down in front of him to clean a mark off his trousers, mimicking a sex act. Worse still, the complainant also alleges that Wallace walked into the MasterChef studio ‘completely naked except for [a] sock pulled over his penis’ before doing a ‘silly dance’.

Wallace was ‘very touchy-feely’ and made ‘disgusting sex-related jokes’, say his accusers and was heard talking openly about his sex life, taking his top off in front of a female worker – saying he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’ – and telling a junior female colleague he wasn’t wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans.

Definitive inside story of Gregg Wallace scandal revealed by KATIE HIND. How TV bosses and attack dog lawyers tried to protect TV chef… and then the charges became impossible to ignore

MasterChef host Gregg Wallace, pictured yesterday, has sensationally stood down as programme chiefs launch an investigation into allegations of ‘inappropriate’ on-set behaviour

In a statement yesterday, production company Banijay – which also makes Big Brother and Peaky Blinders – said it was carrying out an external review. Wallace is co-operating with it, according to the company.

But something else makes yesterday’s revelations all the more astonishing. When I approached the production company just under three weeks ago to put separate allegations to them about Wallace being ‘inappropriate’ on set and ‘behaving like a dinosaur’ – after I was tipped off that a number of employees, past and present, were preparing to make complaints about his behaviour behind the scenes – Banijay dismissed them.

It said: ‘MasterChef is a show which crew, past and present, return to again and again and hold in high regard for its positive and supportive working environment. We have clear expectations regarding behaviour which both cast and crew are regularly reminded of. Any incidences brought to our attention where these expectations are not fully met are escalated and dealt with thoroughly and appropriately. There are multiple ways of reporting behavioural concerns which are clearly promoted and should anyone wish to raise concerns we would encourage them to contact us.’

Meanwhile, Wallace instructed celebrity lawyers Harbottle & Lewis, who charge £400 per hour, to write to the Mail in an attempt to stop us running the claims. The BBC contacted Banijay this week after a group of employees clubbed together and refused to back down. At that point, Banijay decided to act and ensured that Wallace stood aside while it carried out its investigation.

The claims, according to sources, are first-person testimonies and impossible to ignore.

Banijay is the organisation that bought Endemol Shine in 2020, which was found, in an independent review after the sale, to have ‘not properly escalated or adequately addressed’ informal concerns made about Russell Brand while he hosted Big Brother spin-off programmes between 2004 and 2008. That review found that Endemol Shine’s managers were alerted to sordid allegations that Brand asked staff to get audience members’ phone numbers and that his behaviour made female crew members feel uncomfortable or intimidated.

The scandal surrounding MasterChef will come as a shock to fans of the show which, following its launch in 2005, is now broadcast in 50 countries and boasts several different formats, including for amateur chefs, celebrities and professionals. ‘There have been so many times when people have said they were going to speak up about not wanting to work with [Gregg],’ said one insider. ‘But he’s the big star, the face of the show, and it’s a scary thing to stick your neck out.

‘Now, though, we have come to the point when it simply has to be done. To the outside world, MasterChef is this lovely, clean-cut, cuddly show, despite the tasks being very stressful to the contestants at times.

‘But for those behind the cameras it can be very unenjoyable. You have Gregg, who’s just turned 60, and then some much younger employees, some of whom will be more than 30 years younger, so there are difficulties.’

That said, Wallace – a notoriously plain-speaking, Peckham-born former greengrocer and barrowboy – should be used to dealing with younger women.

His fourth wife Anne-Marie is 21 years his junior and met Wallace in 2013 after she queried one of his television recipes on Twitter. She asked him if rhubarb really went with duck, as she saw him demonstrate on a cooking show.

The pair have a son together, Sid, four, who is non-verbal autistic. Wallace put himself at the heart of a social media storm this year when he wrote, in a column about how he spends a typical Saturday, that having a child ‘isn’t something that I would have chosen at my age’.

In the same breath, he described how he spends hours at the gym most mornings (‘I’m now 12 stone [having lost five stone] and I have less than 18 per cent body fat and a six-pack’, he wrote) two hours playing computer war games alone (‘I’m an amateur historian’) – and could find just 90 minutes after lunch to spend with his son.

Three months ago it was revealed that Wallace was the subject of a BBC investigation in 2018 after allegedly taking his top off and boasting about his sexual prowess in front of a female BBC employee (Picture taken from the TV chef's Instagam)

Three months ago it was revealed that Wallace was the subject of a BBC investigation in 2018 after allegedly taking his top off and boasting about his sexual prowess in front of a female BBC employee (Picture taken from the TV chef’s Instagam)

But Wallace’s life has never been straightforward. He has spoken at length about his dysfunctional childhood: When he was 14 and his parents divorced after years of drunken rows and affairs, he discovered his real father was actually his mother’s lover.

His first wife, Christine, walked out after just six weeks of marriage in 1991. Wallace has since admitted he knew it was a mistake before they tied the knot.

Wallace also has two children, Tom and Libby, from his second, six-year marriage to Denise, a former pastry chef, which ended in 2004 after Gregg allegedly had an affair with one of his employees. While the children stayed with Denise following their split, Wallace battled for full custody when her alcoholism worsened. She died in 2017 from the condition.

He met his third wife Heidi – 17 years his junior – on Twitter and married her in 2010. They separated after only 15 months of marriage.

Following their split, Wallace ballooned to 17st. He then slimmed down thanks to a rigorous diet and exercise plan and, in 2021, told the Mail he only dated women who made him feel ‘like riding in my Jag with the roof down’ when he walked into restaurants with them. Since then, he has rebranded himself as a fitness guru and TikTok star – but behind the scenes, he has been facing an onslaught of claims about his ‘difficult’ character. Three months ago, it was revealed that he was the subject of a BBC investigation in 2018 following complaints about his behaviour on the BBC game show Impossible Celebrities.

He was said to have taken his top off and boasted about his sexual prowess in front of a female BBC employee. Insiders told The Sun that concerns were raised at the time, which had ‘mortified’ the production team and he was hauled into a meeting. Yet, following an investigation, it was decided Wallace could continue working with the corporation.

A source told The Sun: ‘There are questions to be asked about the decision to allow Gregg to continue on MasterChef despite these previous incidents.’

Responding to the allegations, Wallace made a statement on Instagram this year: ‘With reference to what’s in the newspapers, these allegations were investigated by the BBC six years ago. My comments were found to be not sexual. I repeat, not sexual. Thank you everybody for your time.’

He was also the subject of claims last year surrounding his BBC show Inside The Factory. He stepped down from his presenting role following allegations he had been ‘rude towards staff and continued to talk in a derogatory manner, especially to women’. The incident was said to have happened during an episode filmed at the Nestle factory in York.

A complaint was made to production company Voltage TV and he was told to ‘moderate’ his comments. Wallace was said to be ‘appalled’ he had ’caused such offence’ and the incident reportedly played a part in his decision to quit the show after seven series.

He later confirmed that, while there was an ‘argument’ at the factory, it was ‘not offensive’.

Wallace’s behaviour away from the cameras has caused headaches, too. In 2013, he started a drunken brawl with a magazine publisher who was accused of making inappropriate comments to his wife Anne-Marie during a five-course champagne reception. The men were said to have grappled on the floor in front of shocked guests. Speaking of the incident, Wallace said: ‘This guy touched Anne-Marie’s bum and made some inappropriate comments. I’m not the sort of bloke who lets something like that go.’

A show insider said: ‘Gregg can be difficult, he says inappropriate things, tells outrageous jokes and is basically a bit of a blunt instrument who makes comments that are not exactly going to be well received by those who are younger and maybe more woke. It can feel toxic to some.’

Yet despite his burgeoning rap sheet, bosses have so far stood by Wallace. He is, after all, say insiders at Banijay, ‘very, very popular with the viewers’.

‘Obviously he keeps getting lots of work, so the top bosses like what he does and see that he is popular with the viewers,’ said one TV insider. ‘It seems they’d rather try to manage his outbursts than force him to change.’ Yet change is what he may have to do. Even members of his own team seem to have grown tired of his behaviour and dealing with the fallout.

Furthermore, his well-honed rapport with MasterChef co-star John Torode disappears when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Torode, who is married to former Brookside and Holby City actress Lisa Faulkner, winner of Celebrity MasterChef in 2010, previously admitted he’d had to ‘walk away’ from his turbulent relationship with Wallace. He has said they do not socialise away from the show, have never visited each other’s houses and even sit ‘at opposite ends of the table’ if socialising with crew members.

One woman on Wallace’s team is said to be close to walking out, despite being part of his management for more than a decade.

‘It’s so often easy to say you’re done with Gregg – he can be an absolute nightmare,’ said a source close to the star.

‘You get to the point where you just think ‘enough is enough’.

‘But then he is, underneath it all, quite a charmer and you go back smiling and just wait for the next time things come to a head.’

It remains to be seen whether Wallace will be able to charm his way out of this latest scandal.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘When you finally learn that a person’s behaviour has more to do with their own struggle than it ever did with you, you learn grace’.

Gregg quit the BBC One cooking show on Thursday while an investigation into inappropriate behaviour is carried out by TV chiefs.

In a post shared to his one million followers, Rod wrote: ‘So Greg [sic] Wallace gets fired from Master Chef.

‘Good riddance Wallace… You humiliated my wife when she was on the show, but you had that bit cut out didn’t you?

‘You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya. Sir Rod Stewart’

MailOnline have contacted the BBC for a comment.

Gregg is currently being investigated by BBC chiefs over a series of allegations which were made against the former greengrocer, accusing him of in appropriate sexual behaviour.

The TV chef allegedly wandered into the MasterChef studio ‘completely naked’ apart from a ‘sock pulled over his penis’ before throwing himself into a ‘silly dance’, a report claims.

Gregg is also accused mimicking a sex act in front of a member of the show’s production staff who was kneeling down to clean his trousers during filming, according to the lurid and so-far unsubstantiated allegations.

The Daily Telegraph says it has spoken to a witness who claims to have seen both these alleged incidents. Gregg was also ‘very touchy feely’, the newspaper quotes the witness as saying.

The grocer turned presenter is also accused of making ‘disgusting sex-related jokes’, including one about an ‘aunt’ while tasting a contestant’s dish during the show.

Gregg has also  been accused of taking his top off in front of a female worker saying he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’ and talking about his sex life to others.

On one occasion he allegedly told a junior female colleague he wasn’t wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans.

And Penny is not the only one to have raised issues with the presenter.

The BBC has revealed that 13 people, including Kirsty Wark, have complained about his conduct while working with him over a 17-year period across five shows, from 2005 to 2022.

Kirsty claims that on two occasions Gregg told stories and jokes of a ‘sexualised nature’ in front of contestants and crew while filming Celebrity MasterChef in 2011. She said his gags and comments were ‘really, really in the wrong place’.

‘There were two occasions in particular where he used sexualised language in front of a number of people and it wasn’t as if anyone engaged with this. It was completely one-way traffic. But I think people were uncomfortable and something that I really did not expect to happen’, she said.

Gregg is currently being investigated by BBC chiefs over a series of allegations which were made against the former greengrocer, accusing him of in appropriate sexual behaviour

On Thursday, Scottish broadcaster Aasmah Mir shared a picture of herself during the 2017 Celebrity MasterChef series with the cryptic message: ‘Always keep your receipts’. It is not yet known if she has also complained.

What has Gregg Wallace been accused of?

13 people who have told the BBC of what they consider inappropriate sexual comments made by Wallace across a range of shows over a 17-year period.

    These include:

    • Kirsty Wark says that on two occasions Wallace relayed stories and jokes of a ‘sexualised nature’ in front of contestants on Celebrity MasterChef and crew and that she felt they were ‘really, really in the wrong place’.
    • Talking openly about his sex life on set
    • Taking his top off in front of a female worker saying he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’
    • Telling a junior female colleague he was not wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans’

The BBC claims that Gregg walked away from MasterChef today after BBC News sent a letter to his agent on Tuesday, setting out allegations from 13 people and giving him a right of reply.

They say he was warned after a complaint was raised in 2018, but new historical claims emerged over the summer of 2024.

Gregg is ‘committed to fully cooperating throughout the process’, the show’s production company Banijay UK said.

Gregg will be on BBC One as usual on Thursday night because MasterChef: The Professionals, which is already recorded, will transmit as planned and into December. MasterChef’s Christmas specials will also still be broadcast.

The chef is yet to comment today – but at the time of the announcement this afternoon he did take to Instagram to share his recipe for prawn tacos with pineapple salsa.

But in October Gregg vehemently denied that he had made inappropriate sexual comments towards women, declaring that he would never ‘flirt with’ or ‘hit on’ another woman and saying: ‘I didn’t say anything sexual’.

BBC News said it had been told of other allegations, including the presenter ‘talking openly about his sex life, taking his top off in front of a female worker saying he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’, and telling a junior female colleague he was not wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans’.

Banijay has not revealed the nature of the allegations.

In a statement to the PA news agency Banijay UK said: ‘This week the BBC received complaints from individuals in relation to historical allegations of misconduct while working with presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our shows.

‘Whilst these complainants have not raised the allegations directly with our show producers or parent company Banijay UK, we feel that it is appropriate to conduct an immediate, external review to fully and impartially investigate.

How Gregg Wallace’s ill-fated MasterChef prediction backfired as TV host steps down from the BBC cooking show following ‘misconduct’ allegations

Earlier this year Gregg Wallace revealed his plans to scale back his MasterChef duties – but insisted he couldn’t see a show without himself and his co-star John Torode at the forefront.

However, the BBC presenter, 60, has now been left with no choice but to step down from the cooking show amid an investigation into historical misconduct allegations made against him.

The TV chef, who has hosted the cooking show alongside John, 59, since 2005, is currently being probed over inappropriate sexual comments he allegedly made to female colleagues at the BBC.

He was also accused of being rude and insulting to women on a separate show last year.

The BBC say that they have received allegations of inappropriate sexual comments from 13 people who have worked with Gregg across a range of shows over 17 years.

Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, 69, a Celebrity Masterchef contestant in 2011, said he told ‘sexualised’ jokes during filming. But Gregg’s lawyers say it is entirely false that he engages in sexually harassing behaviour.

Gregg has previously denied making any sexual comments and Masterchef’s production company, Banijay UK, said he is ‘committed to fully cooperating throughout the process’.

The misconduct allegations come after the star, who also features on the panel of MasterChef: The Professionals, revealed his plans to scale back his duties on the show.

Speaking to Heat Magazine in February, Gregg was asked if he could see himself presenting MasterChef for the next two decades, to which he claimed he and John may be ‘too old to do it all the time’.

He said: ‘I think what will happen as we get older is they’ll start bringing us out for the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and maybe the finals.’

‘We may be too old and infirm to do it all the time.’

He added at the time: ‘But I cant ever see there being a MasterChef without us.’

The celebrity chef has not publicly addressed stepping down as of yet, but he was posting as normal on Thursday morning, telling his followers about his plans for the day.

The star said he had woken up at 6am and had a shower and a coffee before going live on Instagram at 7am.

He then told his followers how he had a management meeting at 8am before having breakfast and heading to his gym and pool.

Updating his followers as normal, he then told them that he was going for a walk in the garden and filming a promo clip for his ready meals.

As news broke that he would be stepping down, Gregg told his followers he would be having a tuna sandwich for lunch before a 20-minute nap and a 30-minute read.

He was also planning to do a coaching weight loss session before having dinner and going to bed at 8pm.

Gregg also shared a cooking video from his ‘Gregg Wallace health’ page, in which he was singing along and teaching his followers how to make prawn tacos with pineapple salsa.

And three days ago, he shared a portrait of his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, who is 22 years younger than him, with the simple caption ‘Anna’.

Gregg Wallace returns to UK with wife after Italian getaway

Gregg Wallace kept a low-key figure as he landed in London’s Gatwick Airport with wife Anne-Marie on Monday after a four-day getaway to Italy.

The MasterChef presenter, 59, recently hit back at allegations he made inappropriate sexual comments towards women.

But taking to Instagram, Wallace hit back at the allegations in an emotional video saying he was ‘madly in love’ with his wife Anna.

And after enjoying a long weekend away, Gregg looked tense as he was returned home after enjoying some time away.

The BBC star wrapped up in a black coat which he paired with blue denim jeans and white Nike trainers.

Gregg carried his hand luggage in a dark rucksack and pushed a large black Tripp suitcase.

Meanwhile his wife Anna, who is 21 years his junior, looked stylish in a beige jacket which she wore over a black trousers co-ord and white trainers.

Gregg was seen chatting on the phone as the couple patiently waited outside the airport with their luggage.

The pair were later seen crossing the road and meeting their taxi as they headed home.

It comes after Gregg, 59, denied claims he boasted about his sex life to a younger female BBC employee and took his top off in front of her while filming a game show – saying he would never ‘flirt with’ or ‘hit on’ another woman.

Bosses at the corporation are said to have hauled the MasterChef co-host into a meeting in 2018 following allegations of ‘inappropriate sexual comments’ and told him to ‘change his behaviour’.

An insider claims Gregg brushed it off as ‘just banter’, having been reported for making ‘consistent inappropriate comments’ to the member of the production team while working on game show Impossible Celebrities.

But taking to Instagram, Wallace hit back at the allegations in an emotional video saying he was ‘madly in love’ with his wife Anna.

He said: ‘The story that’s hitting the newspapers this morning was investigated promptly when it happened six years ago by the BBC.

‘And the outcome of that was that I hadn’t said anything sexual. I’ll need to repeat this again. I didn’t say anything sexual.

‘Despite what the newspapers are suggesting nobody six years ago accused me of flirting with anybody or hitting on anybody.

‘And the reason I say this is because of my wife Anna. I have always been true to my wife Anna and have never flirted or hit on anybody in the 12 years [since] I met her and fell in love with her.

‘And it’s important that, so that people don’t misunderstand that, that I am true to my wife.’

And this morning he returned to Instagram, where he has 195,000 followers, with a rambling live chat while out walking – handing out tips about healthy living and eating while also making pointed comments about this week’s claims against him.

Wallace, who has previously spoken of losing 5st with an exercise regime, told viewers: ‘I’ve had a fair bit of stress over the last few days, but my healthy lifestyle choices have stayed the same because that’s my lifestyle. That’s what I do without thinking.

‘Does that make sense to people? I really, really hope it does. I’m a little bit distracted at the moment, you can probably tell.’

Wallace went on to say: ‘There are so many benefits of upping your levels of activity, so many healthy benefits.

The TV presenter then signed off by saying: ‘I’ve got a really, really busy day – I wanted to check in and say hello.

‘If you want to make a difference to your life, really consider the choices you make.’

The allegations of inappropriate comments have only now emerged amid the BBC this week launching a probe into workplace culture as bosses aim to crack down on the ‘abuse of power’.

The insider who made the claims against Wallace, which his team says are ‘inaccurate’, raised questions as to why he was allowed to continue presenting MasterChef.

They told the Sun: ‘He is said to have been boasting about his sex life with his partner at the time.

Bosses at the corporation are said to have hauled the MasterChef co-host into a meeting in 2018 following allegations of ‘inappropriate sexual comments’ and told him to ‘change his behaviour’

The team working on the show were said to have gone to BBC bosses to complain after being left ‘mortified’ by Wallace’s alleged behaviour.

A spokesman for the BBC told The Sun: ‘Whilst we do not comment on individuals, if issues are raised they are dealt with swiftly and appropriately at the time.

‘We do not tolerate any form of inappropriate behaviour and have robust processes in place.’

It was previously reported by the Times back in May last year that he had allegedly offended female staff members at the Nestlé UK factory in York with comments about their weight during a ‘friendly’ conversation.

Wallace then denied that he left the BBC show Inside The Factory in March that year due to inappropriate comments made towards female staff.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain in August 2023, the called the claims ‘inaccurate’.

The newspaper had quoted a source as saying: ‘He was rude towards staff and continued to talk in a derogatory manner, especially to women.’

The comments were reportedly non-sexual but deemed ‘inappropriate’ and a complaint was lodged with Voltage TV, the production company responsible for developing the show.

When asked on GMB by Richard Madeley about his departure from the programme, Wallace responded by saying: ‘There was an argument inside the factory, the reporting isn’t accurate.

‘There was an issue and I thought this is the perfect time to come out.’

‘Offending people? No, no – if you look at the headlines, you can’t see a story that matches those headlines.’

Gregg also revealed that he also wanted to leave to help care for his son Sid, born in 2019, who is autistic.

Explaining his home situation , he said: ‘I’ve got a little boy called Sid who at the moment is non-verbal, he is still in nappies, he’s got learning difficulties. Mum needed help there.’

He revealed that the demanding nature of the filming around the different factories across the country meant that it made sense to give it up.

Wallace added: ‘It’s completely inaccurate, I didn’t challenge it. There was an issue, I don’t want to discuss the issue but it wasn’t what the papers said it was.

‘There was nothing offensive to anybody that’s just people guessing. It was a decent time to come out, I think.’

Wallace wed Anne-Marie Sterpini, 22 years younger than him, at Hever Castle in Kent in August 2016, having met three years earlier.

‘All my peers were trying at the same time, so it was like we were swimming in the same pool, but they kept getting pregnant and climbing out until, eventually, I was still swimming in there alone. It was really lonely.

She continued: When people would tell me they were pregnant I’d try to be fine, but I’d go home and be full of shame, anger and sadness. When I had IVF, it was with an amazing doctor with whom nine out of 10 patients got pregnant – and I was the one in 10 who didn’t. I thought, ‘Why me?’ It was exhausting.’

Lisa and Chris adopted Billie at 17-months which she described as a ‘completely different ballgame’ to conceiving a child.

Telling the publication: ‘It’s not easy, because you’re dealing with a child with trauma. It’s a trauma that will never, ever be healed, and my job is to be there to help make it better in every way I can’.

She added: I’ve had to do a lot of work on myself. It’s an ongoing process; it doesn’t stop.’

Recalling her first date with John, Lisa revealed they went for dinner where they got on brilliantly.

‘We took things really slowly because of Billie, and also because I’d been through the end of a marriage – we had a child and I felt I’d failed in something I never wanted to fail at’.

‘I never give up on anything, so when you do have to accept that something didn’t work, starting a new relationship is a big leap of faith.’

The couple have now also ventured into writing recipe book together.

‘It’s taken a while to make it happen, but we’re thrilled with it. It has recipes from the latest series and favourites from other series, too. John is a brilliant chef and I’m a home cook, but we both just want to make food everyone can enjoy’.

Masterchef has returned to our screens for a Celebrity special, with contestants hoping to impress John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

The high-pressured cooking competition usually sees 32 professional chefs enter the MasterChef kitchen in a bid to become the 2023 Champion.

The show runs for seven weeks, testing the chefs on their culinary skills across various high pressured challenges.

And one former semi-finalist has given an insight into the intense environment and how much it costs to be involved.

Anthony O’Shaughnessy, who applied for the show in 2018, spoke to Metro about his time on the show.

MasterChef Experience: High Costs and Sleepless Nights

I was on MasterChef – it cost me a grand just to buy the food I needed, I barely slept during filming and show runners even stitched me up with the wrong ingredients

Anthony O’Shaughnessy, who applied for the show in 2018, gave an insight into the intense environment and how much it costs to be involved

For his audition, Anthony revealed he had to take a pre-made dish to the producers, travelling all the way from his home in Teesside to Glasgow.

Once the chef, who now works as the Head Chef at Blackfriars Cookery School in Newcastle, was given a place on the show, he practiced dishes beforehand and explained that he spent around a thousand pounds on ingredients.

Anthony said: ‘You’re spending so much [money] on testing the dishes and so on and finding the time to do that.

‘I worked it out, I spent about a grand during the course of the show, just buying ingredients to test stuff with again and again.’

Whilst the show’s production buy the food for the MasterChef kitchen, things don’t always go to plan.

Anthony said: 'I worked it out, I spent about a grand during the course of the show, just buying ingredients to test stuff with again and again.'

Anthony added: ‘There was one situation where I was going to make a parmo, and asked for orange cheddar cheese, but they didn’t get it because I don’t think it’s a southern thing.

‘They provided me with white cheese, normal cheddar.’

Anthony also revealed that filming days are lengthy for contestants who don’t stay where the studios are.

He was travelling between Teesside and London, meaning early morning and late nights.

He said: ‘I’d get in around two in the morning and then it was up at five o’clock for filming. It was really tiring.’

It comes after Snoochie Shy was the first star to be eliminated from Celebrity MasterChef as the new series kicked off on the BBC on Tuesday night.

The radio DJ and presenter, 32, left the first heats after failing to impress judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode with her dishes.

The first five celebrities donning aprons this week were This Morning’s Craig Doyle, Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, radio presenter Edith Bowman, Steps popstar Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Snoochie.

The series is kicking off with four Heat weeks of three episodes aimed at testing the celebrities’ skills in the kitchen.

As she left she said: ‘It is sad to go home but I know a lot of disasters happened in that kitchen so I knew I was going! I am going to go home and have a glass of wine and put my feet up!’

MasterChef is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Celebrity MasterChef’s Ian ‘H’ Watkins was left in tears after a ‘car crash’ incident in the kitchen on Thursday’s episode of the BBC series.

The four celebrities donning aprons were This Morning’s Craig Doyle, Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, radio presenter Edith Bowman and Steps popstar Ian.

And singer Ian, 48, was paired with Craig for a challenge where they were tasked with making matching cannolis stuffed with ricotta creams.

But disaster struck as his pastry crumbled in a tense moment as he exclaimed: ‘Oh no I’ve just squished it. Oh my God, this is a car crash.’

But judge John Torode still gave them compliments saying: ‘They taste great’, as a shocked H said back: ‘Oh my God, really.’

H then told teammate Craig: ‘I feel like crying!’ as the This Morning star told him ‘well done’.

On the episode Charlotte sadly was eliminated. The 34-year-old TV star left the BBC cooking show after she failed to impress the judges.

Charlotte – who is best known for appearing on the MTV reality series Geordie Shore – underwhelmed the experts during the food truck challenge and she’s now left the show.

After her exit was announced, Charlotte shared: ‘This experience is one I’ll remember til the day I die.

‘I’ve learned some new skills and met some really good people so you can’t be sad about that, can you?’

By contrast, Charlotte previously impressed the judges with her culinary skills. However, she failed to maintain that standard during the latest challenge.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Charlotte took to social media to defend herself from online trolls.

The reality star admitted to being shocked by some of the comments that she read about herself after making her Celebrity MasterChef debut.

Charlotte – who won Celebrity Big Brother back in 2013 – wrote on Instagram: ‘The BBC viewers are such a lovely bunch!

‘I’ve never seen such evil comments, they really should be ashamed of themselves to be honest, and to just blatantly comment like totally shamelessly I’m in shock!

‘How could you really be that wound up about someone just genuinely having so much fun on a tv show!

‘I wouldn’t normally address it and give them any airtime but honestly they need to be named and shamed! Just check the comments…’

As she left she said: ‘It is sad to go home but I know a lot of disasters happened in that kitchen so I knew I was going! I am going to go home and have a glass of wine and put my feet up!’

The first Heat episode saw the five new celebrities take on the notorious ‘Under The Cloche’ challenge – creating a dish from scratch that shows off what they can do.

Next, they delivered a two-course dinner party menu.

Snoochie’s Cloche ingredient was aubergine and she made a curry but the judges weren’t impressed with the presentation.

For her dinner party menu she cooked another curry – this time a red Thai prawn curry and then a peach crumble for dessert.

John and Gregg were not impressed she cooked yet another curry as they couldn’t see what her other skills were.

The duo have been hosting the show since its 2005 relaunch and were hit by speculation that they were bowing out.

However, they joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on This Morning in April to confirm their plans to continue, much to the delight of fans of the culinary show.

When asked by Alison if they planned on quitting, John said: ‘Alison stop it. Stop it… the great thing is that it is on BBC One, it is always on BBC One, it is on again tonight.’

‘It is the quarter-final night, six extraordinary cooks going through to fight it out, and then we are back on now for the next seven weeks, BBC One, and of course, you can catch up on iPlayer.’

Chariya Khattiyot was named MasterChef Champion in 2023, making her the 19th amateur cook to claim the coveted title on BBC One’s prestigious cooking competition.

After seeing off 44 other ambitious contestants, Chariya triumphed against the exceptional remaining finalists, Anurag Aggarwal and Omar Foster.

The 40-year-old, who was a master coffee roaster before taking part in the show, has enjoyed fantastic success in the culinary world and has kept busy since being crowned champion.

She has since opened her own restaurant, Khao Soi – a venue specialising in Asian Fusion cuisine.

Her contemporary casual dining venture began welcoming customers in April of this year, with MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace and a host of the show’s former contestants attending its launch.

The Hampshire-based restaurant specialises in small and big plates, serving her hungry customers a range of Katsu curry dishes.

She recently updated her 50,000 followers on Instagram, proudly revealing that Khao Soi turned one month old last week, and they have catered for more than 2,000 people within that time.

Chariya wrote: ‘Forgot to post this last week, it’s been a crazy week! Happy one month old! @khaosoibychariya. We have cater 2,654 people in one month, some of them maybe serving more than once. Thank you so much!’

She also shared snaps of the restaurant’s grand opening, including a picture of her grinning and holding a glass of champagne alongside Greg Wallace, as they stand outside her new eatery.

During her business adventure, Chariya has also been making specialise appearance to various cooking events, such as Royal Project Festival at Siam Parakorn, Bangkok.

Fresh from winning the competition, the professional chef also partook in a food demonstration in the UK’s biggest touring celebrity food and music festival series at Hylands Park, Chelmsford.

After being announced Masterchef winner, she said: ‘This is unbelievable. It means the world, the sun, the moon and everything to me. I don’t think anything can top this. I’m so happy!

‘This just proves that if you dream something and you work really hard and you never give up, you can get it. That’s what my grandad said to me – never give up. He would be so proud of me!’

On the very emotional night, both judges also shed a tear as they announced this year’s winner, with Chariya sweetly apologising as they all became overcome with emotion.

John said: ‘Chariya’s food has always been honest and from the heart. It’s always exciting, it’s always unusual and it’s always been beautiful and addictive.

‘And not just punchy, exciting Thai flavours that we saw at the start, but also exceptional, innovative and exciting technique all the way through. A proper master.’

Co-host Wallace added: ‘Chariya is outstanding and one of the best MasterChef contestants I can remember. Chariya has delighted and amazed me in equal measure.

‘Some of her creations are absolutely beautiful – almost with an artist’s touch. She is one of the most creative, skilful cooks I’ve seen on MasterChef for a long, long time.’

Dartford-born Thomas Frake stormed to victory in the 2020 series of MasterChef with his love of hearty dishes.

He won over John and Gregg with his refined pub-grub style which often produced crowd-pleasing meals.

However, having lifted the trophy shortly before the pandemic, and with the winning episode itself being broadcast in the first lockdown, Thomas’s meteoric rise was quickly put on ice.

He told Metro shortly after his win: ‘Because of the coronavirus lockdown, I still consider myself as a home cook, I might be the MasterChef Champion but I am certainly not a professional chef.’

However, when his city job put him on furlough, he put his talents to good use and teamed up with non-profit organisation Critical NHS to make meals for frontline staff and deliver them to hospitals during the height of lockdown.

He also partnered with a hospitality project set up during lockdown to deliver restaurant-quality meals and meal kits to people’s doors, Finish and Feast, to give them a taste of his cookery skills from their homes.

Eventually, after several months of waiting, Thomas received his MasterChef trophy and opened it in a video he posted on Instagram.

In the clip, he said: It’s been a crazy experience and it hasn’t quite felt that real because of the coronavirus lockdown.

‘I hadn’t really had a chance to spend time with friends and family, and really celebrate.’

Now Thomas has relocated from the south east to Wiltshire where he is the owner and executive chef of The Wheatsheaf, Chilton Foliat.

He took over the site in November 2022, posting the announcement on Instagram.

He wrote: ‘I’ve bought a pub. I couldn’t be any more excited… I don’t think I could have found a more beautiful place to start life as a publican.’

Commenting on the photo, John Torode said the news was ‘bloody wonderful’.

Malaysian-born Ping Coombes lifted the MasterChef trophy in 2014 after impressing throughout the competition with her dishes inspired by home.

She was a full-time mother who had recently been made redundant from her job.

She once revealed that, growing up, she didn’t get a chance to practice many cookery skills because her mother was so protective of the kitchen at home.

But after moving to the UK in 2000 to study at Oxford University, she began to experiment as she learnt to cook for herself – and she never looked back.

Shortly after winning the contest, Ping began running cookery classes in Fulham, London, teaching other amateur cooks how to master Malaysian techniques and flavours.

She also continues to make TV appearances where she shares her recipes with viewers – including teaming up with MasterChef judge John Torode when the pair reunited on his series John Torode’s Malaysian Adventure.

As well as this series, Ping has appeared in cooking segments on popular TV shows such as This Morning and Sunday Brunch.

In 2016, two years after winning MasterChef, she released her cookbook Malaysia: Recipes from a Family Kitchen.

As well as her success in TV, Ping runs monthly supper clubs in Bath, called Ping’s Makan Club, for which the menu changes every month.

After first offering cookery classes in Fulham, she has now upgraded to a cookery school in Wiltshire called Ping’s Masak Club.

This year, on the 10th anniversary of her being crowned champion, Ping announced that she is being awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Social Inclusion from Bath Spa University in ‘recognition of her inspiring personal story, her passion for food heritage and contributions to the local community’.

Taking to Instagram, she proudly penned: ‘I’m so looking forward to putting on my graduation robe in June! Thank you so much for this recognition, especially from such a renowned University in a city I have called home for the last decade!

‘Your belief in my contributions is as nourishing to my spirit as the most sumptuous feast.

‘The last 10 years have been filled with unforgettable experiences, accolades, personal growth, and adventures. I have loved every moment.

‘May the next 10 years be as wild and fun. I will continue to use food to connect people together.’

From Nando’s to MasterChef winner 2021, Tom has definitely impressed the nation with his skills in the kitchen.

Showcasing modern European recipes with Asian twists including dishes such as black sesame ice cream, he proved himself to be head and shoulders above many of his fellow contestants.

He is now a chef who offers ‘private dining experiences’ in the Newcastle and Manchester area.

But Tom often posts his colourful-looking creations on Instagram – such as kale and pistachio pasta and Piri Piri chicken stew – and even shares his recipes for his 19,000  followers.

Tom also previously toured with the Foodies Festival  and appeared at the event in Brighton and Knutsford, and Edinburgh.

In last year’s series of Masterchef, he returned to the kitchen with his fellow 2021 finalists Alexina O’Toole and Mike Tomkins, to judge the new contestants.

This year, he reappeared again as a guest judge, this time alongside fellow previous winners Kenny Tutt and Natalie Coleman.

Thomasina earned the winner title on the first ever season of MasterChef in 2005 after celebrating her love of Mexican food.

She now co-owns the restaurant chain Wahaca – which has 13 sites across the country – from London to Edinburgh.

The chef and her business partner Mark opened their first restaurant in 2007 with Covent Garden.

Thomasina said she ‘fell in love’ with Mexico when she travelled there at 18 years old and wanted to ‘show people in the UK how vibrant and delicious Mexican food really was.’

She has even published cookery books on the cuisine, including Meat-free Mexican, which was released last year.

But things haven’t always been easy, as it was reported in 2018 that her restaurant lost £4.7million due to a norovirus outbreak – which made around 160 staff members and a quarter of their staff ill.

After the show 18 years ago, Thomasina kept up her TV presence, as she appeared on two series of Wild Gourmets with Guy Grieve on Channel 4 in 2007.

A year later, she went on to present A Cook’s Tour of Spain and then in 2011, she presented Mexican Food Made Simple for Channel 5.

The mother-of-three was also awarded an OBE in 2019 for her services to the food industry and also has a weekly column in the Guardian where she shares her recipes.

Mat posts both work and life updates on his Instagram account – including his visit to a cafe where he met a pup called Poppy

He used to work in IT but his love and passion for food changed that all when Mat won MasterChef in 2009.

That same year, he decided to open one restaurant called The Wild Garlic in Beaminster, Dorset, but it sadly closed a few years later in 2013.

He opened the Bramble Cafe in Poundbury, Dorset, in 2016, followed by the Bramble restaurant, which is described as: ‘Relaxed fine dining, using seasonal produce and ingredients foraged or grown by us.’

Mat is a fan of foraging and even offers classes to teach people about how to use the earth’s resources for their dishes.

He also owns Mure, an online liquor store which experiments with peculiar flavour combinations such as Strawberry Cup, Marmalade Whisky, and Roast Coffee and Rum.

Two of the liquors – Just Blackberry and Bitter Lemon – even won Great Taste awards last year.

The MasterChef winner has also had three books published – Fish, Vegetables and Afternoon Tea.

You will often see him on your television screen, as he often judges food competitions and events.

Mat has even returned back to MasterChef – but as a regular judge rather than a contestant.

Jane Devonshire was something of a dark horse during her 2016 series of Masterchef and quietly impressed the judges throughout the competition before coming into her own in finals week

A dark horse throughout her MasterChef competition in 2016, stay-at-home mother-of-four Jane brought her A-game on Finals Week to be crowned champion of the competition.

She was known for her love of good, hearty food you can feed your family with and won over John and Gregg with her dishes that were cooked with love.

In the final episode of the programme, Jane revealed she had secondary breast cancer following a diagnosis four years earlier.

And after being crowned champion, she said: ‘I didn’t want to win because of the cancer. It was liberating to win because of my cooking. My illness was irrelevant.’

After winning the programme, Jane has become a regular on the food festival circuit and travels from her home in Hampshire all around the country to demonstrate recipes to hungry audiences, including several appearances at the BBC Good Food show.

She has also teamed up with her co-finalists from the 2016 series, Billy Wright and Jack Layer, to head back to the MasterChef kitchen where the trio judged some of the new contestants’ dishes.

After releasing home-cooking recipe books, Jane has turned her attention to gluten-free cooking in recent years and has published recipes focusing on dishes fit for coeliacs. She is also an ambassador for Coeliac UK.

These days, Jane can be found developing menus for private clients.

Now Irini has come out of retirement and has entered a completely new career based around food, offering cooking retreats in Crete

After a tightly-fought competition which saw an all-female final, Irini triumphed with her Greek-inspired menu, drawing on her own heritage.

The Crete-born retired banker, who was bored at home, applied for MasterChef to give herself something to do.

During her high-powered career at Piraeus Bank, she found herself with little time to cook and ended up relying on supermarket ready meals.

But after she retired and her husband John suggested she apply, Irini began practising and trained herself for more than a year before appearing on the show.

‘I didn’t want to embarrass myself by leaving in round one,’ she told the Guardian.

She added that she spent time in Greece visiting Michelin star restaurants to see how top chefs were putting their own spin on her native cuisine, and she also brushed up on Greek MasterChef.

Following her win in 2019, Irini published a Greek cookbook, Under the Olive Tree: Recipes from my Greek Kitchen.

Since then, she has well and truly come out of retirement, offering her cookery services for private hire and also running cooking classes.

Recently, she has begun offering cooking retreats on her native island of Crete – a seven-day trip including cooking classes, a chance to see the sights and an olive oil tasting.

As for professional kitchens, Irini does not have a permanent site of her own but she has carried out residencies in several restaurants around London.

Former data manager Simon Wood won MasterChef in 2015 but his journey with food started much earlier than that, as he started cooking ‘when he could reach the top of the oven’

Since winning the show, Simon offers private chef hire and was also appointed executive chef of Oldham Event Centre where he offers masterclasses and whips up food for fine dining events.

He has also launched cookery books – such as At Home with Simon Wood, Fine Dining Made Simple – so that fans can recreate the fining dining experience on a budget and from their home.

In 2017, he opened his first restaurant called WOOD in Manchester, where ‘smoking, curing, preserving, fermentation and innovative cooking techniques will be used throughout the menu’.

According to their website, the restaurant brings ‘complexity using Garums, Koji and various culinary influences while retaining our classic seasonal flavour combinations giving the guest an elegant, contemporary dining experience with a strong balance of flavours, textures and temperatures.’

In addition to the Manchester site, Simon also owns WoodKraft in Cheltenham.

Simon even has a page on BBC Food which stores his sauce recipes, so fans can make them at home and add them to their own dishes.

The chef also has more than 20,000 followers on Instagram, where he shares recipes and also pictures of his restaurant to give his followers an insight into the cuisine.

When he isn’t in the kitchen, Simon takes a keen interest in politics and the Labour Party in particular.

Earlier this year he posted photos on Instagram of himself with Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner at the launch of the party’s ‘Five Missions’ for the future of the UK if they win power at the next general election.

Hackney girl Natalie won series nine of MasterChef in 2013 when she amazed judges with her lobster tail starter and a ‘pimped’ roast pork belly served with a quail scotch egg.

Since winning the show, she has worked at high profile places such as Michel Roux Jr.’s two Michelin starred French restaurant, Le Gavroche, The Kitchin – another Michelin starred restaurant in Edinburgh and five-star hotel, The Berkeley in Knightsbridge.

She’s even returned to MasterChef as a guest judge alongside Saira Hamilton and Larkin Cen, who were both from the 2011 series.

In 2014, she released her solo debut cook book called Winning Recipes: For Every Day.

Natalie is also passionate about helping children to cook, and has previously run cookery courses in the school holidays.

She is currently the head chef at The Oyster Shed, an award-winning pub in London, located right by London Bridge.

Natalie previously worked as the head chef at The Winchmore Pub in north London, near Enfield and also at Hello Darling, a colourful restaurant and bar located in Waterloo.

On Instagram, Natalie has opened up about her journey to becoming teetotal after a battle with alcohol addiction.

She recently posted a photo of herself on a trip to Australia where she marked four years of sobriety.

The chef wrote: ‘Am so grateful for the amazing family and friends that have supported my recovery and for a much better way of life.’

She reappeared as a guest judge on MasterChef this year alongside fellow previous winners Kenny Tutt and Tom Rhodes.

Shelina Permalloo stormed to victory and lifted the Masterchef trophy in 2012, winning over the judges with her celebration of Mauritian cuisine.

Shortly after winning her series, she launched a career as a TV chef and has appeared on several cooking and home programmes.

Shelina, a single mother, has also published two cookbooks, Sunshine on a Plate and The Sunshine Diet, with the latter being geared towards weight loss.

In 2016 the chef opened her first restaurant, Lakaz Maman, which is Creole for ‘Mama’s Kitchen’ in Southampton, which is inspired by Mauritian street food.

The restaurant has been lauded by diners and critics alike, and in 2020 it was described by the Telegraph’s Keith Miller as ‘full of personality and charm’.

During the review, which was written during the covid pandemic when the hospitality industry was subject to strict operational rules, Miller encouraged diners to support the restaurant.

In addition to her TV career and thriving restaurant, Shelina uses her Instagram account to share free recipes which are easy to cook for the family.

In one post, she showed her followers how to make chicken shawarma flatbreads using the air fryer, a quick and cheap way of cooking recipes at home.

Her videos celebrate family cooking and she often posts demonstrations of herself cooking with her own family members, including her aunt.

Kenny Tutt claimed the MasterChef top spot after showing phenomenal improvement throughout the 2018 competition.

After lifting the trophy, the former bank manager left the world of finance to pursue his great love of cooking and ended up launching a series of projects.

Now based in Sussex, Kenny opened Bayside Social, a seafront restaurant in Worthing, with his wife Lucy in July 2021.

However, in April it was announced that the site would be closing almost immediately.

Citing ‘rising costs’ and the ‘long-lasting effects of Covid on the hospitality industry’ the MasterChef champion and his wife said they were left with no choice but to shut down, the Argus reports.

His second venture, Pitch, also in Worthing, shut its doors in April of 2023, again citing rapidly rising costs as the reason.

The swanky restaurant, which offered private dining and runs a cookery school, described itself as a ‘contemporary mix of modern and classic British food, wines and cocktails’.

The website reads: ‘It was named after Kenny’s family market heritage and it pays homage to the great produce in the surrounding local area.’

Kenny launched his smashed burger brand Patty Guy in May of 2022, which is located in Brighton’s Shelter Hall food hall.

The restaurant has also popped up in two more locations in Worthing and Hastings.

On the website, the eatery is described as ‘A fulfilment of Kenny’s lifelong love affair with burgers and his desire to recreate the feeling of having the perfect bite in your hand’.

Steven Wallis is a face that will be familiar to old and new MasterChef fans, as both the champion in 2007 and a regular returning judge to more recent series.

After spending part of his childhood living in Pakistan, Steven developed a love for Asian-inspired food

When he first entered the competition, he had been procuring a successful career in the fashion industry, but the win led him to leave his job and travel the world to broaden his culinary horizons.

During his travels, he documented his exploration of world cuisine in a blog, The Urban Foodie.

He has since worked as a flavour consultant, a food writer and a private chef.

Steven also uses his Instagram to demonstrate new recipes and teams up with food brands to promote the use of their ingredients in recipes.

In recent posts, he has demonstrated how to make the most of Quorn products in vegan dishes, such as a Thai-inspired pie filled with pieces of the meat alternative.

Last November, Steven revealed on Instagram that he had come down with E Coli, which he described as a ‘crazy level of food poisoning’.

Thankfully he said he was over the worst of it while thanking people for their good wishes.

Since winning MasterChef in 2010, Dhruv, who was born in Mexico to an English father and Indian mother, has gone on to pursue a career in cookery in London.

After working at some of the top restaurants in the UK including the Roux brothers’ Le Gavroche and Tom Kitchin’s The Kitchen, he settled in Earlsfield, south west London.

In 2014, Dhruv published his first cookbook, Spice. That same year, he teamed up with his business partner Adam Pomaro to run The Jolly Gardeners pub.

The pub enjoyed rave reviews and was lauded by the Independent in 2021 for its menu.

The critic said: ‘The Jolly Gardeners has elevated pub food, without making it pretentious. It’s almost like they’ve specialised in it.’

In Autumn 2022, Dhruv was linked to King’s House on The King’s Road in Chelsea.

While there, he has devised a Basque and British fusion menu which offers charcuterie and steak, among other Spanish dishes.

He also launched an award-winning charcuterie brand called Tempus, alongside fellow MasterChef contestant, Tom Whitaker, which is based in Weybridge.

Dhruv will be appearing at the Foodies Festival this weekend at London’s Syon Park.

British-American chef Tim Anderson won Masterchef in 2011 after moving to the UK with his wife three years earlier.

At the time, he was the show’s youngest ever winner, but he was actually already working in hospitality when he entered the competition.

He managed a craft beer bar near Euston in central London before throwing his hat into the ring ‘on a lark’ and had developed a love of cookery after watching a Japanese cooking show when he was 15 years old.

Following his win, where he wowed John and Gregg with his trio of burgers inspired by the US, the UK and Japan, which he described as his culinary influences, he continued to pursue Japanese cuisine in developing his career.

In 2015, he went on to found Nanban, a Japanese-inspired restaurant in Brixton, south London.

However in 2021, he announced on his Instagram account that he was parting ways with the restaurant.

He told CODE, a trade magazine for the hospitality industry: ‘I never intended to stay with the restaurant forever. My circumstances have changed and the pandemic made me realise what my priorities are. It’s time to move on.’

After releasing cookbooks Japaneasy, Bowls and Bento, Microwave Meals, and Ramen Fiorever, Tim now dedicates much of his time to writing about food, and has published several articles in Pellicle magazine.

Eddie has recently returned to India, where he spent part of his childhood, to explore the cuisine of the country in more depth

Yorkshire-based Eddie Scott became champion after a consistently impressive 2022 competition in which he drew upon his love of Indian cooking to create culinary masterpieces.

After winning the competition, he quit his job as a marine pilot to pursue a career in cookery and he has already worked for one of the biggest names in the business.

In September 2022, it was announced that Eddie was working in the kitchen at Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred restaurant in Chelsea.

He was only earning £10 an hour during his three-month stint in the kitchen, but insisted the working conditions were ‘good’.

The MasterChef champion told The Sun: ‘I approached him, because we’d done some filming there so I thought it would be a great place to work. I asked them if there would be any possibility of getting some work experience. I get £10 an hour, and I’ll be there for three months.

‘Normally you don’t get paid for these things, and people go all around the world to work with great chefs. I get a lunch break as well.’

Eddie proudly opened the doors to his first restaurant adventure, L’Opaline Bistrot, at the beginning of this month.

Making the announcement about the new Beverley-based eatery on Instagram in March, he penned: ‘L’Opaline represents everything that I love about food and will be a celebration of my passion for the classic cuisines of France and India.

‘Featuring no-nonsense, rustic and regional dishes, very reflective of the bustling local bistrots that I love to eat in. The menu will of course feature my signature biryani. The restaurant brings together my two culinary worlds.’

He also uses his Instagram account to share his versions of favourite dishes he has tasted on his travels around India – including how to make your very own garam masala spice mix.

Eddie’s debut cookbook, Misarana, was released on May 9. The title translates as ‘fusion’ in Punjabi, and it draws upon his Indian heritage to bring ‘vibrant Indian twists on classic European dishes, with real fusion flavour’.

The MasterChef champion has combined her career in medicine with her interest in food and recently published her third cookbook, The Kitchen Prescription, which focuses on eating healthily for your gut

Dr Saliha Mahmood Ahmed lifted the MasterChef trophy in 2017 after entering the competition while she was juggling a busy career as a doctor at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

Saliha is one of the few contestants who has kept up her day job since lifting the MasterChef trophy, pursuing her passion for cookery alongside her career as a junior doctor.

However, with a specialism in gastroenterology, her day job isn’t too far removed from her love of cookery.

As if she wasn’t juggling enough, the mother has also found time to make the Sunday Times Bestseller list with her cookbooks, Khazana and Foodology.

She went on to release her third cookbook which ties in her work on digestive disorders, The Kitchen Prescription.

Writing in The Telegraph last month, Saliha said: ‘From obesity to type 2 diabetes and heart disease, the mortality and morbidity incurred because of a lifetime of ‘unhealthy’ eating patterns is utterly astounding.

‘Most people do not realise that what they choose to eat is the single most important factor affecting their long-term health.’

Gregg Wallace took to his social media to share a rare snap of his eldest son Tom Wallace as he celebrated his son’s 30th birthday.

The broadcaster, 59, often posts about his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, 37, and their son Sid, five, on social media and his eldest children Tom, 30, and Libby Wallace, 27, from a previous marriage, are occasionally referenced too.

Taking to his Instagram story, Gregg shared a rare snap of his lookalike son wearing a beige T-shirt and sporting a pair of dark sunglasses as he soaked up some rays.

The MasterChef presenter simply captioned the snap with: ‘Tom Wallace.’

It comes just two months after Tom celebrated his birthday in March and Gregg marked the special occasion at the time by writing a sweet post to his son on the social media platform.

He captioned the snap with: ‘Happy 30th Birthday Tom Wallace. Very proud of you.’

Gregg has previously shared several snaps of Tom, who is the eldest of his two children from his marriage to his late ex-wife Denise, with his followers.

One snap showed the father and son posing beside each other as they spent some quality time together at Twickenham Stadium back in 2022.

Gregg has regularly spoken about his family during interviews as well and discussed his eldest kids being older siblings to his son Sid.

Speaking to The Mirror earlier this year, Gregg said that Tom and Libby ‘adore’ their younger brother.

He added that they have ‘melded’ into the family, which includes Sid’s mother Anne-Marie and his grandmother Rina Sterpini.

It comes after Gregg and his wife Anna welcomed their son Sid and shared that he had been diagnosed with autism almost two years ago.

Speaking about his wife with The Sun, Gregg said: ‘She’s got an autistic little boy, she’s just lost her dad, she’s got grown-up stepchildren and a workaholic husband. That girl is an absolute pillar of strength and I have nothing but admiration for her.’

It comes after MasterChef viewers were left devastated after their true ‘winner’ was sent home at the final hurdle.

Tuesday’s episode saw Abi Kempley, Brin Pirathapan, Chris Willoughby and Louise Lyons Macleod battle it out for a coveted place in this year’s final three.

After a tense task cooking for guests of Michel Roux Jr at his now-closed restaurant Le Gavroche, the chefs whipped up a meal back at the MasterChef UK kitchen to impress judges John Torode and Gregg.

But as Brin, 29, and Chris, 44, impressed with their skilful dishes, it was either Louise, also 44, or Abi, 22, who was set to miss out on a spot in the final three.

Judge John announced that it was Abi who would be leaving the competition, sparking upset from viewers who had been willing her to win.

    Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they wrote: ‘Fallen at the final hurdle. Really thought it was hers to take,’;

    ‘This woman should be in the final,’; ‘Gutted for Abi – you’re a winner in my eyes!!’;

    ‘Gutted Abbie went. Brin to win,’; ‘I really like Brin and Chris but Abi is incredible for her age,’;

‘Abi should be proud at how far she has come. To be only in her early twenties and getting to finals week on #Masterchefuk is an amazing achievement. I reckon she’ll be a big chef in the future.’

Brim and Chris were revealed to have impressed the judges and earned a spot in the final, leaving Abi and Louise at risk.

Announcing Abi’s departure, John said: ‘Abi and Louise, one of you is going through to the final, one of you is leaving us.

‘The contestant leaving us… is Abi. Abi than you its been an incredible journey for you.’

‘I would really really like to see what happens with you next because you are an amazing talent for somebody so young,’ Gregg said. ‘Well done.’

Of missing out on a place in the final, Abi said: ‘Obviously a little gutting to be going home at this stage, so close but the whole competition has been a challenge from start to finish.

‘I’m definitely really proud of what I’ve achieved.’

Tuesday’s episode saw the contestants cook up a storm in the legendary restaurant Le Gavroche.

Ahead of her departure from the show, Abi served up the starter – which Michel Roux Jr’s guests hailed ‘delicious’ – poached scallop mousse on a julienne of vegetables and diced scallop, served with a Chartreuse liqueur veloute and a scallop coral tuile.

But one dish raised eyebrows – circus performer Chris’s poached and roasted spiced duck breast served with crispy duck leg.

Viewers flocked to social media with cries that the duck looked too raw, with some suggesting his competitor vet surgeon Brin could ‘get it up and walking’.

    They wrote: ‘I don’t think that duck’s even dead,’; That duck is f***ing RAW,’;

Of missing out on a place in the final, Abi said: 'Obviously a little gutting to be going home at this stage, so close but the whole competition has been challenge from start to finish'

    ‘Brin could get that duck up and walking again if he was serving this course,’;

‘I love Chris’s creativity, but WHY do all professional chefs insist on meat being so rare?’

And it wasn’t the only dish of the day to be met with criticism for its cooking time, as later in the show back at the test kitchen Brim served up a South American-inspired dish dedicated to his fiancé Anna – which consisted of pan-fried fillet of beef coated in Colombian coffee.

Viewers said: ‘That beef is too pink! Needs to be cooked more!’; ‘That steak is still mooing

‘Someone call a vet. The beef’s still breathing…..’

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the BBC cooking competition, MasterChef’s remaining competitors were put to the ultimate test as they had to cook for 70 guests comprised of previous winners, judges, and Michelin-star chefs.

Creating a three-course meal inspired by past winner’s dishes, the eight remaining hopefuls felt the heat as they were split into groups for the starters, two different mains and desserts.

Among the dinner guests of esteemed chefs was none other than India Fisher, 50, the show’s narrator for the last 20 years.
