Seth Rogen’s jokes about Trump are CUT from science award show coverage

Comedian Seth Rogen’s jokes about US president Donald Trump have been cut out of the broadcast of one of the most prestigious science awards shows in the world.

The Pineapple Express actor and writer was presenting an award at this month’s Breakthrough prize ceremony, a heavily-funded awards programme that aims to recognise ‘outstanding scientific achievements’.

The programme, which describes itself as the ‘Oscars of science’, was co-founded by many of the world’s biggest tech founders including Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Rogen reportedly cracked some harsh jokes at the US president’s expense as he and actor Edward Norton presented a special prize in fundamental physics to Gerardus ‘t Hooft.

According to the Hollywood Reporter he addressed the audience, which included Brin and Zuckerberg as well as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, said: ‘It’s amazing that others [who have been] in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science.’

He added: ‘It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320m and RFK Jr, very fast.’

But the jokes were not included in the ‘full’ YouTube upload of the ceremony.

Breakthrough told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘This year’s ceremony lasted longer than the prior few years, and several edits were made in order to meet the originally planned run time.’

Rogen’s joke appeared to take aim at how quickly Silicon Valley founders cosied up to Trump after he won the White House.

Zuckerberg, Bezos and Altman donated $1million (£760,000) each to Trump’s inauguration committee after he was elected.

Since taking office, his administration has completely upended the scientific and academic world.

Mass firings and the freezing of billions earmarked for universities and scientific agencies have left researchers terrified.

Last month, nearly 2,000 of the world’s most prominent academics signed an open letter warning the world of the ‘danger’ of Trump’s attacks on science itself.

The letter read: ‘We see real danger in this moment. We hold diverse political beliefs, but we are united as researchers in wanting to protect independent scientific inquiry.

‘We are sending this SOS to sound a clear warning: the nation’s scientific enterprise is being decimated.’

And Trump’s appointment of Robert Kennedy Jr., a notorious vaccine sceptic, has left epidemiologists worried that the US will soon be unable to deal with another outbreak of a pandemic.

Following the firing of thousands of national park employees under Donald Trump’s administration, park scientists are now being pulled from their research duties to clean hundreds of campground bathrooms.

In February, Trump terminated thousands of national park and forest management employees in a maneuver by Elon Musk's DOGE to slim the government and root out fraud, waste and abuse - a decision met with heavy scrutiny

In California, Yosemite National Park is bracing for its busiest season of the year amid a custodial staff shortage – and bathroom duty has now fallen on the park’s scientists, rangers, IT workers and even its leadership team

Roughly 1,000 newly hired National Park Service (NPS) employees and about 3,400 US Forest Service workers were fired in February, sparking concerns that the administration’s actions could harm the country’s most sacred natural lands.

In California, Yosemite National Park is bracing for its busiest season of the year amid a custodial staff shortage – the result of the president’s delay in hiring seasonal workers across the nation’s beloved parks.

With staff stretched thin, bathroom clean-up duty has now fallen to an unlikely group – the park’s scientists, rangers, IT workers and even its leadership team.

‘When our manager first notified us that we were assigned this new duty, I was somewhat outraged,’ one employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told SFGate.

‘We are already understaffed, mainly due to the hiring freeze caused by the new administration, and now more work unrelated to our job description is being piled on top of us?’

The National Park Service (NPS) regularly hires between 7,000-8,000 seasonal employees, but these roles will be exempt from Trump’s federal hiring freeze, which he enacted on day one of his second administration.

National park advocates have argued the job cuts paired with the hiring freeze could lead to trash piling up, facilities falling into disrepair and long wait times for park entries and reservations.

Billionaire, 94, performs ultimate power flex in front of younger and wealthier rivals

One of the wealthiest men in the world flexed his power in an unusual way at a gathering with his rivals Saturday night in Santa Monica, CA.

Rupert Murdoch, 94, snubbed his nose at tradition when he attended the 11th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony celebrating the greatest achievements in science and technology.

While younger and even wealthier billionaires such as Jeff Bezos, 61, Mark Zuckerberg, 40,  and Bill Gates, 69, wore tuxedoes with traditional dress shoes, the Fox News founder expressed his confidence and defied expectations wearing black sneakers with his tux.

The rest of his look was more or less traditional although the media mogul opted for a standard black tie instead of a bow tie.

Zuckerberg, competed in the game of one-upmanship, wearing all black and modeling a pair of Meta’s AI glasses.

The Facebook founder and his wife, Priscilla Chan, were part of the group of Silicon Valley titans who created the event, often described as the Billionaire’s Ball, more than a decade ago.

On Saturday, they handed out multi-million dollar awards to many of the world’s top scientists for their groundbreaking research.

The billionaires and scientists rubbed shoulders with wealthy A-listers, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jodie Foster, Alicia Keys, Drew Barrymore, Christina Aguilera, Mr. Beast, Gayle King, Jeremy Strong, Jessica Chastain, Kate Hudson, Olivia Wilde, Rob Lowe, Glenn Close and Zoe Saldaña.

Host James Cordon teased the uber-wealthy audience by making reference to Friday’s stock market close in which the Dow dropped 2200 points, while the S&P 500 was 5.97% lower.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was 5.82% lower as a reaction to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

‘A lot of you have had a bad week,’ the former late night host told the audience per The Hollywood Reporter.

‘You know what I can see from up here? I see a room full of people who are starting to worry that they might have to fly commercial again.’ he quipped.

Gal Gadot was one of the presenters for the evening and shared her personal experience while giving a posthumous prize to George Berci, an innovator in using miniature cameras in minimally invasive surgeries.

‘A little over a year ago, I had a big health scare when I was eight months pregnant,’ she said. ‘I had debilitating headaches and I had no idea what was happening inside my head.’

‘I’m here today thanks to the amazing Cedars-Sinai Medical Center here in Los Angeles,’ the Snow White actress said.

‘Using MRI — a technology made possible, as we heard earlier, by particle physics — the doctors there discovered I had a blood clot. In fact, I had three major blood clots,’ she explained.

‘I’m kind of an all-or-nothing type of person, but I’m here today thanks to them and the technology that they use.’

Earlier in the day, Murdoch pulled the same move with his footwear, donning black sneakers with his black suit, white shirt and gold tie when he walked down the aisle for a fifth time.

The business magnate said ‘I do’ to retired molecular biologist Elena Zhukova, 67, in a small ceremony at his Tuscan-style vineyard in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The New York Times reported they appeared to be Hokas similar to the sustainably designed Transports model favored by President Joe Biden when he visited the US-Mexico border.

The bride, who was previously married to Russian billionaire Alexander Zhukov, chose traditional footwear, choosing an ankle-length off-white cocktail dress with a squared-off portrait neck and matching pumps.

Geri Halliwell-Horner reveals how Steve Jobs became her VERY unlikely style inspiration

Geri Halliwell-Horner has revealed how she took some very unlikely style inspiration from Steve Jobs.

The Spice Girl, 52, is known for her signature all-white wardrobe and is rarely spotted out at public events in any other colour.

Now, Geri has given an insight into her iconic look, revealing how the late Apple boss Steve was part of the inspiration behind her paired-back ensembles.

Speaking to Jessie and Lennie Ware on their Table Manners podcast, Geri said she saw businessmen like Steve and Mark Zuckerberg always wearing the same outfits.

She said she decided to adopt a similar trend, first wearing all-black in her 20s before switching to all-white to cut down on the amount of time she spends getting ready.

I went through a period when I was in my 20s wearing black all the time. I looked at a lot of guys, and they always wear the same thing,’ she explained.

‘Whether it’s Steve Jobs, Facebook guy [Mark], you know, they all wear the same thing, like a uniform.

‘I thought, well, actually, how much time do you use getting ready? That was one thing, and everything matches. It’s simplicity.’

‘Sometimes I’ll put on some khaki trousers or something, I do have other colours but sometimes I just throw it in,’ she added.

Geri also looked back on her days with The Spice Girls, when she was known for wearing much brighter and more extravagant on stage outfits, including her iconic Union Jack dress.

She revealed she still catches up with her bandmates – Mel B, Mel C, Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton – as she described them as like ‘old school friends or family’.

Geri then revealed how they all got their iconic Spice Girls nicknames after forming in 1994, with the singer taking on the moniker Ginger Spice.

She said it was magazine editor turned celebrity manager Peter Loraine who came up with the idea, after presenting them all with a spice rack and nicknames in an interview.

(Peter) used to be editor of this magazine, Top of the Pops magazine,’ Geri shared.

‘And one of the first interviews, when I was in the band The Spice Girls, he interviewed us, and then he did a spice rack. It was funny.

‘And then he just named each spice. That was it. And then it stuck and we thought, well, that’s a good idea. Let’s keep it.’

Geri said she ‘didn’t mind’ his choice of Ginger Spice at all, while Victoria was Posh Spice, Mel B was Scary Spice, Mel C became Sporty Spice and Emma was Baby Spice.

Geri recently dropped a huge hunt that The Spice Girls could reunite, decades after they disbanded in 2001.

She told The Times: ‘My hope is we come back together as a collective. It’s more respectful to come as one.

‘There will be something. We’ll come as one. We love each other. I love them, I care about them, we want the best for each other.

‘We shared something so monumental. We’ve always believed in each other, had trust in each other, which is beautiful.’

She also confirmed that the five of them do have a group chat but wouldn’t reveal the name of it.

Mel C also hinted that the band could do something special next year to mark the 30-year anniversary of their debut album, Spice.

The girl group last toured together in 2020 as a foursome, with only Victoria missing out.

The last time Emma, Mel B, Mel C, Victoria and Geri all performed together was during the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.

Speaking to Rebecca Judd On Apple Music 1 earlier this month, Mel C teased: ‘There has to be something befitting of 30 years since Wannabe.

‘Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl. We all feel like that, but we now are getting together because we know if we’re going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right.

‘We have to start making the plans right now and putting them into action. So fingers crossed.’

However, she admitted it might be up to her and Mel B to get things moving, saying: ‘I think me and Mel B are probably going to be going in there all guns blazing, “Come on! It’s time!”‘

The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg reveals why he does NOT want to be associated with Mark Zuckerberg

Jesse Eisenberg has revealed why he has zero interest in being associated with Facebook and Meta cofounder Mark Zuckerberg.

The Hollywood star, 41, famously played the tech mogul in the celebrated 2010 movie, The Social Network – landing his first Oscar nomination for the impressive performance.

However, Zuckerberg’s recent actions have left the actor determined to distance himself from the billionaire’s narrative going forward.

During an interview with BBC Radio 4 released on Tuesday, the filmmaker spoke out against the mogul while he promoting his Oscar-nominated movie A Real Pain.

‘I haven’t been following his life trajectory, partly because I don’t want to think of myself as associated with somebody like that,’ he explained in a clip shared online by the BBC.

He continued: ‘It’s not like I played a great golfer or something and now I want people to think I’m a great golfer — it’s like this guy that is doing things that are problematic, taking away fact-checking and safety concerns.

‘Making people who are already threatened in this world more threatened.’

‘I’m concerned just as a person who reads a newspaper,’ he added, after he was asked whether Meta’s recent editorial decisions ‘concerned’ him. ‘I don’t think like about, “Oh I played the guy in the movie.”‘

He continued: ‘It’s just I’m a human being and you read these things and these people have billions upon billions of dollars, more money than any human person has ever amassed.

‘What are they doing with it? Oh, they’re doing it to curry favor with people who’s preaching hateful [things]?’

Last month, Meta announced that Facebook and Instagram would be ditching their independent fact-checking programs.

Instead, the company will be following the likes of Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter, and relying on users to supply their own community notes to clarify misinformation.

In the video announcing the changes, Zuckerberg declared that it was ‘time to get back to our roots around free expression.’

Zuckerberg notably also attended Donald Trump’s inauguration as US President on January 20, shortly before his company agreed to pay $25 million to settle Trump’s 2021 lawsuit over his previous suspension from its platforms.

His suspension came into effect after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots in Washington, D.C.

The Social Network was written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher.

It told the origin story of Facebook set against the backdrop of multiple contentious legal battles between Zuckerberg (Eisenberg), Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), and twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss (Armie Hammer).

Justin Timberlake, Rashida Jones, Rooney Mara, and Dakota Johnson also starred in the flick.

The film received eight Oscars nominations, including Best Picture, and took home three for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score.

The Social Network earned over $220 million and in the years that followed, many wondered if they might be a sequel about the continued growth of Zuckerberg’s company.

Fincher and Sorkin have shared over the years that they’ve discussed options for a potential sequel, but in an 2023 interview Fincher described the notion as ‘a can of worms.’

Meanwhile, A Real Pain marks Eisenberg’s second feature writing and directing effort, following his debut with 2022’s When You Finish Saving The World.

Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin play two vastly different cousins who embark on a strange journey.

A Real Pain also stars Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey and Kurt Egyiawan, with Eisenberg producing alongside Emma Stone and her husband Dave McCarry.

Kyle Sandilands takes a brutal swipe at Mark Zuckerberg after the tech billionaire re-recorded a T-Pain song to celebrate anniversary with his wife: ‘Worst thing ever’

Kyle Sandilands did not mince words on Friday when he revealed what he though of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg re-recording an iconic rap song to celebrate an anniversary with his wife.

The 40-year old tech leader shared an acoustic version of Lil Jon’s Get Low, in collaboration with rapper T-Pain, to mark his ‘dating anniversary’ with wife Priscilla Chan.

Sandilands, 53, slammed Zuckerberg’s heartfelt move and told his co-star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, 49, he thought Mark’s song, in which he turned an upbeat rap track into a slow heartfelt ballad, was ridiculous.

‘Worst thing ever. He must be rebranding himself to be cool and it’s failed. The wife loves getting low and here’s Mark’s song! What a soft c**k. So embarrassing,’ Kyle began.

‘Why would he be bothering doing this? In all honesty, Mark Zuckerberg is an idiot. Yeah, he made Facebook, but whatever. What else have you done, you have done one thing in your life!’

Jackie said the original Get Low song held sentimental value to Mark and his wife as it was always played at the college parties they attended while studying at Harvard University in 2004.

‘Can’t get quite as low anymore but more in love and grateful for that than ever. Love you MZ,’ Priscilla wrote.

Mark revealed on Instagram the song had been playing when they first met at a party as Harvard freshers, adding they listened to it every year on their dating anniversary.

Despite the romantic overtone of the gesture, rap fans came out in their droves to share their contempt for the song, with one saying it was the ‘worst cringe song of the year.’

Lady Gaga’s Boyfriend: Tech CEO Michael Polansky

With her multiple alter-egos, ultra-daring fashion choices – including a dress made of raw meat – and outrageous performances involving being vomited over live on stage, Lady Gaga’s eccentricities are next level, even in the world of showbiz.

But now the superstar’s heart has been won over by someone far removed from the glitz and glamour of the celebrity scene – tech CEO Michael Polansky.

The Harvard graduate is from the same coterie as Mark Zuckerberg and his close friend Sean Parker, but while both became household names, Polansky has been content to be a background figure.

Described as being ‘instrumental in building many private technology companies’, he has the tech bro uniform of jeans, hoodies and a baseball cap to match – the very opposite of his flamboyant partner Gaga.

The couple have kept their relationship relatively private, but have recently upped their joint appearances to promote her upcoming role as Harley Quinn with Gaga showing off her huge engagement ring at the Venice Film Festival premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux on Wednesday night.

Low-key Michael is not wholly removed from the limelight however, after his ex, New York Times journalist Lindsay Crouse, wrote an op-ed on their seven-year romance – and break-up – when news of his celebrity relationship broke in 2020.

Michael attended Harvard University between 2002 and 2006 – and was a student at the same time as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg –  before graduating with a degree in applied mathematics and computer science.

But it’s not only where he went to school that connected him to Big Tech.

The businessman and entrepreneur helped create the Parker Foundation in 2015 alongside Sean Parker, the co-founder of Napster and also Facebook’s first president (played by Justin Timberlake in The Social Network).

According to its mission statement, The Parker Foundation ‘creates positive changes in global public health, life sciences and civic engagement’.

In practice, this means initiatives such as funding cancer research projects and running an Economic Innovation Group to address America’s economic challenges.

In addition to his work at the foundation Michael – who holds several roles among not-for-profit organisations and other companies – is a board member of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy.

The tech CEO has been involved in skin health company Outer Biosciences and investment firm Avos Capital Management – as well as his role in creating the Parker Foundation.

He’s understood to have amassed his own tidy fortune as a venture capitalist, although reports estimated his net worth at $600million may be somewhat off the mark.

Born in Minnesota, his father is an award-winning author Steven Polansky, and his mother Ellen Woods, a pharmaceutical expert. The pair are divorced.

Steven, who has a doctorate in English Literature from Princeton University, is known for books entitled Dating Miss Universe and The Bradbury Report. His short stories have also appeared in huge publications.

Meanwhile Ellen has built an impressive career in the field of science, currently positioned as the President of the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education.

Throughout their years dating, Gaga and Michael have attended the Super Bowl, the BAFTAs, and the Critics Choice Awards together.

Speaking to Vogue on Thursday, Gaga revealed that the pair met in 2019 through her mother.

Cynthia Germanotta runs the Born This Way Foundation – which is a nonprofit centring on young people’s mental health. She set up the charity with her daughter Gaga in 2012.

‘My mom met him and she said to me, “I think I just met your husband,” and I said, “I’m not ready to meet my husband!”‘ Gaga told the publication. ‘I could never have imagined that my mom…found the most perfect person for me?’

Then in December 2019, Gaga was invited to Napster co-founder Sean’s 40th birthday party at his house in Los Angeles. Stevie Nicks performed a set at the bash.

It was there she formally met Michael – after checking with her mother that he’d be there. Gaga said: ‘I said, “I wonder if Michael is going to be there,” and my mom said yes, and so I went to the party and I kept asking for him and he finally came over to me and we talked for three hours.’

The pair talked on the phone for weeks and ‘fell in love’ before being seen kissing and celebrating New Year’s together weeks later.

Their relationship accelerated as Covid hit, with Michael leaving his San Francisco home to move in with the singer in Malibu.

That February the pair went Instagram official when Gaga shared a photo of them cuddling on a boat in Miami together.

In March 2021, it was reported that Gaga’s romance with Michael was getting serious and she had expressed the desire to start a family with him.

‘She’s someone who is happiest when she’s creating,’ Michael told Vogue of his partner. ‘It’s one of the qualities I love most about her.’

‘She has been telling her friends that she wants to get through a few projects and then focus on settling down,’ a source told Entertainment Tonight at the time.

In July, Gaga revealed her and Michael had gotten engaged – after he proposed during a day of rock climbing.

Prior to dating Michael, Gaga was engaged twice before, first to Taylor Kinney before they broke off their engagement in July 2016 and then to her talent manager, Christian Carino, before the pair called it quits in February 2019.

But it’s not just Gaga with an interesting past love life – as after going official with the singer, his ex spoke out.

Writing in The New York Times in February 2020, Michael’s ex-of-seven-years Lindsay wrote an opinion piece on the shock of discovering her former partner was now dating a superstar.

According to Page Six , Gaga and Michael had 'known each other for a while through events Parker has hosted at his LA mansion' (Pictured in January 2021)

‘While I’d been watching the Super Bowl on television in New York, they were snuggling in her private box at the Hard Rock Stadium at Miami Gardens,’ she penned.

‘There were the paparazzi as he escorted her away, her pink hair flowing and sequins pasted around her eyes.’

Lindsay revealed that she and Michael had dated for seven years, all through university and thereafter.

As she admitted to doing some social media stalking, Lindsay candidly recounted how she actually didn’t have Michael’s details online – after a bitter end to their relationship saw him block her on Facebook.

But Lindsay’s piece was incredibly uplifting, as she shared her admiration for Gaga and admitted to feeling inspired by her.

Lindsay said that while in other relationships you are tempted to look up your ex online in the hopes their life hasn’t improved without you – this is simply not possible when he is dating such a star.

‘Lady Gaga is amazing,’ she wrote. ‘Comparing yourself with her is incredibly motivational, and I recommend you try it, regardless of how you relate to who’s dating her.’

Wedding plans for the couple are underway, and Gaga is reportedly seeking a prenup before she walks down the aisle to protect her fortune, which Forbes previously estimated at $150million.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe, the singer also mentioned that Michael had been putting his tech-savvy skills to good use by helping her develop an app for the foundation.

‘With Born This Way Foundation, my mother, Cynthia Germanotta, and our co-founder Maya [Enista Smith], who I love so very much — they are working with my, the love of my life, on something for mental health,’ Gaga revealed.

Celebrities Who Won’t Financially Support Their Children: Following Jeff Goldblum’s Example

It’s no secret that nepo babies have popped up all over Hollywood recently, with a slew of celebrity offspring benefiting from their famous parents connections and getting a leg up in the movie, modeling, and music industries.

But some A-listers have worked tirelessly to ensure the opposite for their kids – revealing that they will not be giving them any of their massive fortunes and forcing them to make their own livings.

Take Jeff Goldblum, for example. The acclaimed actor, who is worth roughly $40 million, recently admitted that he was going to cut his children off financially when they get older.

And he’s not the only one. In fact, many stars have been open about their attempts to teach their kids that money doesn’t grow on trees over the years.

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar once revealed that she charged her daughter for milk after she noticed her wasting a lot of the beverage, and acclaimed chef Gordon Ramsay has said that he forces his kids to sit in economy class while he buys himself a first class ticket – since ‘they haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that.’

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has stated that he always tells his kids that they’re not rich, he is – and that he asks them to form a detailed plan about how the funds will be used if they ever ask him for money for something.

In addition, stars like Anderson Cooper, Daniel Craig, Elton John, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, and Simon Cowell have all revealed that they will not leave their multi-million dollar trusts to their offspring.

Even some of the world’s top business moguls like Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, and Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs have vowed that their children will not inherit their immense wealth.

In the midst of Jeff’s admission, take a look at all of the celebrities who have made it clear that they’re not spoiling their children despite having millions in the bank.

Jeff, 71, explained on a recent appearance on Bruce Bozzi’s podcast Table for Two that he has no plans to let his two sons, Charlie, eight, and River, six – whom he shares with his wife, dancer Emilie Livingston – live off his earnings when they’re older.

The Jurassic Park alum – who has an estimated net worth of $40 million – said he is determined to teach the youngsters that they have to ‘row their own boats.’

‘It’s an important thing to teach kids. I’m not going to do it for you. And you’re not going to want me to do it for you,’ said the actor.

‘You’ve got to figure out how to find out what’s wanted and needed and where that intersects with your love and passion and what you can do. And even if it doesn’t, you might have to do that anyway.’

    Gordon Ramsay

Gordon, 57, has built a massive food empire and earned an immense fortune along the way – but he revealed in 2017 that his money won’t go to his kids when he passes away.

The acclaimed chef and TV star, whose net worth is estimated to be around $220 million, previously explained to Telegraph, ‘I’ve never been really turned on about the money.

‘That’s not my number one objective, and that’s reflected in the way the kids are brought up.

‘[My fortune is] definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way, it’s to not spoil them.’

Gordon has six kids with his wife Tana Hutcheson – Megan, 25, Holly, 24, Jack, 24, Tilly, 22, Oscar, five, Jesse, six months.

He told the publication that he hardly ever brings his kids to his Michelin-starred restaurant – and that he even forces them to sit in economy while he and Tana buy first class seats when they travel as a family.

‘They don’t sit with us in first class. They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that,’ he added.

‘At that age, at that size, you’re telling me they need to sit in first class? No, they do not. We’re really strict on that.’

Earlier this year, he also dished on how he taught his kids to save their money during an episode of the show Last Meals.

He explained that he gives them a monthly allowance – and matches whatever they have left of it at the end of the year.

‘Every month, [they get] a couple hundred dollars, and if they save that up across the 12-month period, I match that at Christmas for them,’ he said.

‘When you start that practice at sort [of a young age]… all of a sudden their minds are focused on their career paths. They are super disciplined and they are on it, man.’

Despite being one of the richest business moguls on the planet, Microsoft founder Bill, 68 – who has a whopping net worth of $128 billion – has voiced his fears over his kids becoming ‘distorted’ over ‘wealth’ on numerous occasions.

He and ex-wife Melinda, 59, have continuously insisted that they are working hard to ensure that their kids ‘create their own path.’

While raising their children, the former couple – who split in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage – did their best to give their three kids Jennifer, 28, Rory, 24 and Phoebe, 21, a normal childhood.

They made them do chores and split the household work as evenly as possible, while tech mogul Bill has even admitted that he was a stickler about screen time – and didn’t allow his kids to have phones until they were age 14.

Back in 2017, he vowed to use his immense fortune to ‘help the poor’ rather than his own children.

‘Our kids will receive a great education and some money so they are never going to be poorly off but they’ll go out and have their own career,’ he explained to This Morning.

‘It’s not a favor to kids to have them have huge sums of wealth. It distorts anything they might do, creating their own path.

‘This money is dedicated to helping the poorest. They know that, they are proud of that, they go on trips with us to see the work that’s being done.’

Sarah, 47, has been outspoken about how she has raised her two kids to not take anything for granted.

The actress, who is worth roughly $30 million, has a daughter, named Charlotte, 14, and a son, named Rocky, 11, with husband Freddie Prinze Jr.

Back in 2017, she told the Today show that she doesn’t believe in allowances – and even revealed that she had started charging her young daughter for milk.

‘I don’t love the idea of giving them money to do chores that they should do anyway,’ she explained.

‘My daughter was doing this thing lately where she was asking me for a cup of milk and not drinking it.

‘So I told her that every time she’d ask me for a cup of milk and not drink it, I would take a quarter out of her piggy bank. Someone has to pay for that milk.’

Last year, she also dished on the importance of teaching kids about money after she partnered with Fidelity.

She said she started talking to her children about finances and saving as young as five years old.

‘We want them to understand certain things, especially because Freddie and I grew up differently than they did,’ she dished.

‘We both had single parents and lived paycheck to paycheck – and sometimes didn’t get that paycheck.

‘Their life is different, and so we want them to have an appreciation for things and understand not everyone is as fortunate.

‘We started simple with our kids – we had three mason jars: save, spend and donate. We wanted them to understand what it’s like to save up for something.’

    Anderson Cooper

Despite receiving a $1.5 million inheritance in 2019, Anderson, 56, revealed in 2021 that he ‘doesn’t believe in passing on huge amounts of money.’

‘I don’t intend to have some sort of pot of gold for my [sons],’ he explained on Air Mail’s Morning Meeting podcast.

‘I’ll go with what my parents said, “College will be paid for, and then you gotta get on it.”‘

The journalist, whose net worth is estimated to be around $200 million, welcomed two sons named Wyatt, four, and Sebastian, two, via surrogate with his ex Benjamin Maisani.

He explained that even though he hailed from the prominent Vanderbilt family, he was taught ‘from a very young age’ that he would have to work hard and make his own earnings – which ‘motivated’ him to make a name for himself.

He shared: ‘From a very young age, I was very aware of, “This is not me. This is something my mom has,” or, “This is money my mom has, but it’s not money I’m going to have and I need to forge my own way.”‘

He is also the step father to her son, Henry, 17.

‘Isn’t there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you’ve failed?’ he told Candis magazine last year.

‘I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation.

‘I think inheritance is quite distasteful.

‘My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go.’

    Elton John

Elton, 77, told the Mirror in 2016 that welcoming his sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, with partner David Furnish, 61, changed his perspective on wealth.

‘Having children changed everything about my life. I’ve learned that the simplest things in life – like having a minute with them – are worth more than any painting, any photograph, any house or any hit record,’ he said.

‘Before we had the children we just had our lives, and would spend money because we didn’t have anything else to focus on.

‘We have really toned things down because we have enough stuff. There is nothing else we need.’

At the time, the singer, who is worth an estimated $650 million, said that while he wants to ‘leave his boys in a very sound financial state,’ he doesn’t want to leave them all of his money after he passes away.

‘It’s terrible to give kids a silver spoon. It ruins their life,’ he said. ‘We’re still working out the details and it’s about finding the balance.

‘I came from a very working class family and was born in a council estate house. I earned everything I did from hard work and that’s the way they’ve got to do it as well.

‘They have to do chores in the house – take their plates to be cleaned, help in the kitchen, tidy their rooms and help in the garden, and each time they do they get a little star to put on these charts they’ve made. They understand they need to do these things, and they enjoy it.’

    Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

Actors Mila, 40, and Ashton, 46, are trying to raise their children, Wyatt, nine, and Dimitri, seven, as modestly as possible, despite being worth a joint $275 million.

In 2017, the Family Guy star told Entertainment Tonight that she and her husband had made a ‘no presents’ rule for their kids at Christmastime after their parents spoiled them the year prior.

‘The kids no longer appreciate the one gift. They don’t even know what they’re expecting – they’re just expecting stuff,’ she said.

‘We’ve told our parents, “We’re begging you – if you have to give something, pick one gift. Otherwise, we’d like to take a charitable donation to a children’s hospital or a pet – whatever you want.” That’s our new tradition.’

And in 2020, Ashton said they were not planning to leave any of their fortune to their kids when they die one day.

‘My kids are living a really privileged life, and they don’t even know it,’ he explained on Dax Shephard’s podcast, Armchair Expert. ‘And they’ll never know it because this is the only one that they’ll know.

‘I’m not setting up a trust for them. We’ll end up giving our money away to charity and to various things.

‘If my kids want to start a business, and they have a good business plan, I’ll invest in it. But they’re not getting trusts.

‘So, hopefully, they’ll be motivated to have what they had or some version of what they had.’

‘I don’t believe in passing on from one generation to another,’ he said to Mirror in 2013.
