EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Meghan’s ‘desperate to trump the royals’, claims former friend

When they both attended the LA Children’s Hospital Gala last year, TV presenter Lizzie Cundy claimed the Duchess of Sussex was there just ‘for the photographs’.

Now, Cundy, who used to be Meghan’s friend, says her behaviour has worsened since then.

‘Meghan is desperate to be liked, desperate to be powerful and desperate to trump the royals with anything she does,’ Lizzie, 56, tells me at the Diva Awards at 8 Northumberland Avenue in London.

‘Sadly for her, you can’t buy likeability, and she’s lacking in that by the bucket-load.’

Lizzie adds of Prince Harry: ‘He looks deeply unhappy. I think he is missing his family and, obviously, worried about his father’s health.’

Poppy’s in bloom for baby shower

When I disclosed a year ago that Poppy Delevingne had found love with Archie Keswick, Sienna Miller’s ex, friends told me he hated being photographed in public.

Archie, who is a member of the Jardine Matheson dynasty which owns the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, was, however, happy to be pictured at Poppy’s baby shower.

The actress and model, who turns 39 this weekend, is expecting her first child, a girl, next month with Archie, 43, whose family fortune is reputed to top £6 billion.

Poppy wore a pink dress for the London party, where she and Archie were joined by family members including her sister, Cara Delevingne, 32, her mother, Pandora, 65, and Archie’s sister, Willa Keswick, 40.

Birthday girl Sofia dodges power cut

Princess Sofia of Spain, who turns 18 today, has just one term left at UWC Atlantic College, in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales.

The younger daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia followed in the footsteps of her sister, Princess Leonor, and enrolled in the school which has been described as ‘Hippy Hogwarts’ thanks to its progressive approach and castle setting.

This photograph, issued by the Spanish royal household to celebrate Sofia’s birthday, was taken at Zarzuela Palace, her family’s home in Madrid. Sofia is second in line to the Spanish throne.

I’ve been very lucky, says Fry

Sir Stephen Fry says he can’t help young people seeking his advice because he’s too privileged.

‘I get requests from people and their parents, saying my boy or my girl wants to get into showbusiness, wants to get into publishing, has written a book, has a YouTube channel that nobody subscribes to, and how do they get an agent? How do they get noticed?

‘And I’m in the awful position of saying I don’t know,’ he admits. ‘I have had every door open to me without me having to knock on it… it’s deeply unfair for me to be so lucky.’

While Prince William was in Rome attending Pope Francis’s funeral on Saturday, his uncle and aunt Prince Edward and Sophie were enjoying la dolce vita in London. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were at the River Cafe, Ruth Rogers’s celebrated Italian restaurant in west London. ‘They were attending a 60th birthday dinner for their friend Tanya Rose,’ a pal tells me. Tanya, a travel public relations boss, has known King Charles’s 61-year-old brother since they were at Gordonstoun school together.

Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes fears for fellow athletes when they retire.

‘I’d been in the military for ten years and an international athlete for 12, [then] I lost all of that structure and purpose,’ she tells me.

‘We always need to do more to support retired athletes, as with veterans. There has to be a structure in place.’

The Loose Women star had taken to her Story as she headed out to meet the girls as she told her fans she was ‘going out out’.

She looked great in her white jacket which she wore with black trousers and had her blonde tresses styled in a bouncy blow dry.

It comes after Lizzie put on a busty display as she enjoyed a date night with model agency owner Paul Cavalier at a London hotspot over the Easter weekend recently.

The star slipped into a cleavage-enhancing striped suit as she headed to Sheesh with Paul – who is the owner and director of Nevs Model Agency.

Lizzie was arm in arm with Paul as they enjoyed a cozy evening together during the bank holiday.

The outing came after Lizzie lifted the lid on the not so glamorous life of a Bond girl, following her appearance in 1995’s Goldeneye.

The former WAG and TV personality recalled her experience on the set exclusively with MailOnline, which she described as ‘hell’.

In the movie, which was Pierce Brosnan’s first outing as 007, Lizzie appeared as Famke Janssen’s body double in the famous sauna scene where the character Xenia Onatopp tried to strangle Bond with her legs.

Lizzie revealed how Pierce, now 71, who was wrapped only in a towel, was the ‘hairiest man she’d ever seen’ and joked she feared getting ‘fur balls’.

‘He was a lovely bloke, so funny and we got on like a house on fire, but so hairy, like an otter’.

She recalled landing the role at the very last minute due to her having the same measurements as the Danish actress, but spent much of her time waiting in a tiny trailer which ‘smelt of fish’.

If that wasn’t bad enough, once on set Lizzie said Pierce’s stand-in also stank and she was forced to endure the stench during rehearsals before the star arrived.

She laughed: ‘I had to do the practicing with this smelly man, who had body odour, it was awful. It wasn’t glamorous it wasn’t well paid’.

Despite Bond’s million pound budgets Lizzie revealed that she only received £250 for her work on the film, but was thankfully invited for 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies.

Vanessa Feltz and Lizzie Cundy both brought to tears as they reflect on the breakdown of their marriages to ex-husbands Michael Kurer and Jason

Vanessa Feltz and Lizzie Cundy broke into tears on Monday, as they reminisced about the collapse of both their marriages on Vanessa’s daytime TV show.

Vanessa, 63, was previously married to consultant orthopaedic surgeon Michael Kurer for 16 years, tying the knot in 1983 and welcoming daughters Allegra, 38, and Saskia, 35, before their divorce in 2000.

While, Lizzie, 56, became a WAG when she married former footballer Jason Cundy in 1994 and they became parents to sons Josh, 29, and James, 25, before splitting in 2012.

During the latest episode of Vanessa’s Channel 5 show, a caller named Julia told them about how she was still struggling with her divorce 40 years later.

Reflecting on her own marriage breakdown, Vanessa became visibly emotional as she admitted it causes your heart to break, and doesn’t always mend with time.

She said: ‘I can almost feel it being broken and just like Julie’s still crying nearly 40 years later, it doesn’t necessarily just snap back together.

‘I think it depends how wholeheartedly you believed in the marriage, if you really thought – I know I really did – that you’re doing this forever and ever and every word spoke is true, is basically going from your mouth right to the angels, because you are properly truly in love and this is going to last forever and all the promises are real.

‘Then when you think about it the way Julie is, I’m not in the least bit surprised she’s crying now.’

Lizzie also was brought to tears, as she admitted: ‘It’s make me cry now actually, it really is. Because you want it to be forever, you get married for it to be forever and that’s what I felt Vanessa.

‘And I was like you at a friend’s wedding and found myself overcome with emotion because I hoped my marriage would last forever.’

Later on in the show, she recalled the end of her marriage to Jason, saying: ‘At the time it broke my heart.

‘As I said, I think I had a breakdown, I didn’t eat, I lost an incredible amount of weight. I was very upset and Vanessa you were there and supporting me very much.’

However, she explained that she has been able to move past the hurt and built a strong friendship with Jason now, saying: ‘But life moves on and I say to everyone, make friends.

‘There’s no point being bitter and angry and that does go. And when I see him now, I don’t think of that at all.’

Lizzie and Jason split when he met Opera singer Hannah Pedley, who he would later to go on to marry and welcome a son with.

Following Jason’s infidelity, an emotional Lizzie told OK!: ‘I’ve never been on my own and it’s very frightening. I feel so betrayed. I’ve had panic attacks and I feel like my right arm has been cut off.

‘I’m so shocked at how hideous he is being. I don’t know him any more and I’ve been married to him for so long. That’s the thing that hurts the most.’

In 2019 Lizzie she opened up on her heartbreaking split during an appearance on This Morning, saying: ‘I was hiding a lot of pain and I wouldn’t wish divorce on anyone.’

The former WAG also revealed she had enjoyed a secret romance with a well-known sports star which had helped her endure the pain of her divorce in 2012.

She said: ‘I did fall for someone very quickly after my divorce and it didn’t work out and it really did knock my confidence, a really well-known sports star. Sadly he didn’t feel the same way it really was really traumatic for me.

‘He’s in the book it was a big part of my life. In some ways it helped my get through my divorce, I know I was quite low, it was pretty tough and I didn’t want to live at times.

‘But I’ve got two wonderful boys and life is great, never been better at the moment.’

After enduring a bitter divorce, Jason and Lizzie are now firm friends and have worked through their differences.

She previously told MailOnline: ‘I would definitely invite my ex-husband to my wedding if I were to marry again.

‘People might think that is strange after we had such a bitter split and divorce but we have learnt it’s much better to be friends than enemies, especially as we share two lovely children together.

‘For me, it was 17 years of good marriage, which is a success to me.’

Meanwhile, Vanessa opened up on her former marriage to Lizzie once again last month, in the first episode of their new podcast, Loving and Living with Mike Parry.

She admitted that she ‘feels less whole’ without a husband and that she missed being married to Michael, despite his infidelity.

Vanessa said: ‘I was extremely happy in my marriage and I didn’t realise anything was wrong until one day he announced in a sort of Dalek voice, “I do not rule out the possibility of a divorce” just like that.

‘I was peeling potatoes and his mum was coming over for lunch. He left within a few weeks and I just didn’t know why.’

She admitted that she ‘feels less whole’ without a husband and that she missed being married to Michael, despite his infidelity

Explaining how the truth was revealed, she continued: ‘But, Piers Morgan heard the news my husband had left and he just though “that sounds really weird” so he got a journalist to follow him and that’s how I found out he was having an affair.’

When asked what she thought about being in a ‘permanent relationship’ again, Vanessa replied: ‘If it’s the right partner, boyfriend, someone you can trust then your life will be enhanced with that relationship. So do I prefer a relationship, yes.’

She continued: ‘But life has taught me the hard way that a relationship with the wrong person… it is possible to feel lonelier than you would be on your own.

‘You think gosh what if I meet someone worse, or never meet anyone again. A lot of people are scared to leave relationships and I have been that person

‘What’s interesting about taking a cheat back is for about ten seconds they are terribly sorry and then ten second later, they are back in, and they’ve forgotten.

‘The trust is shot to tell and one person is bristling with fury. All of it is not much cop. Do I believe people should get second chances yes, but do I think a leopard changes its spots? Probably not.

‘You just wish that if someone didn’t want to be with you, they would just end it.’

But she candidly confessed she would like to find love again, saying: ‘I like someone to love and I like someone to love me. Without that I feel less whole and less content. I like having somebody who is part of your team.’

  • I was shocked and appalled by Mickey Rourke’s homophobic and misogynistic slurs but this is why I think he should stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house, says LIZZIE CUNDY

I was shocked and appalled by Mickey Rourke’s homophobic and misogynistic slurs but this is why I think he should stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house, says LIZZIE CUNDY

I’ve known Mickey Rourke for many years and, like everyone else, I was shocked to watch his homophobic and misogynistic remarks in the Celebrity Big Brother House.

The Hollywood actor, 72, made his big comeback to the spotlight on the ITV show but has already caused quite a stir with shocking comments made to JoJo Siwa.

He left the singer, 21, in tears during Wednesday’s episode after he insinuated he would be able to ‘make her straight’ and branded her a ‘f*g’.

Needless to say, his homophobic sentiment sparked outrage among viewers with many people calling for him to be ejected from the Big Brother house by producers.

He is also set to cause further fury during Thursday night’s episode as he will break the rules by refusing to put forward his nominations for eviction.

But, without excusing his conduct, I think Mickey should be given the chance to stay to learn from his mistakes and educate himself with the help of the housemates.

Times have changed and you can’t get away with saying those types of comments, it’s a real life lesson for him being in there and it will help him.

Dance Moms star JoJo has already been praised for her mature reaction to the horrific situation, and you can already see her words have made an impact on Mickey.

It took that situation for Mickey to be able to hold his hands up and apologise for what he said, insisting he had no ‘dishonourable intentions’ but was just ‘talking smack’ – and I should know, he is quite the cheeky chap.

After many years of being able to get away with saying what he wants, surrounded by ‘yes men’ in Hollywood, his time in the house will no doubt be eye-opening for him.

I think it’s good that he stays in the house because it will help him – life has changed, we’ve all moved on and we can’t get away with saying offensive things anymore.

I’ve been on the receiving end of flirty comments from Mickey in the past, but I’ve never taken it in the wrong way and Mickey has been a very good friend to me over the years.

Years ago, Mickey was very kind to me when I was falling for a big sports star, memorable telling me: ‘You deserve better than that, you’re a Queen.’

He told me to have more respect for myself and love myself because, at that time, my marriage had just ended and I was very low.

But, without excusing his conduct, I think Mickey should be given the chance to stay to learn from his mistakes and educate himself with the help of the housemates (JoJo is pictured)

Coming from him, that comment made me think and it really helped me, it just goes to show that there is a very kindhearted side to Mickey that people might not have seen.

His old cowboy hat is the same but times have moved on.

Mickey has got to learn from this, and staying in the Big Brother house could help him do just that.

Being surrounded by so many strong personalities, the cheeky chap has already been put in his place.

The housemates have rightly been supporting JoJo and I think you can already see how that has been affecting Micky.

There could be quite the redemption arc in store for him if he listens to the other celebrities and is open to what they have to say.

It’s been a difficult few days for Mickey in the house so far, but the housemates have done the right thing in explaining why his comments were wrong.

Mickey now has a chance to move on from his mistakes, and I hope he will be allowed to remain in the Big Brother house to do just that.

Life is a journey and I hope he’s able to learn from his old-school ways.

Lizzie Cundy and Hayley Palmer put on a dazzling leggy display as they attended the International Restaurateurs’ Dinner on in London on Monday.

Hosted in aid of the World Young Chef Young Waiter Education Foundation, the event took place at the five-star Rosewood hotel.

Lizzie, 56, opted for a classy, figure-hugging white dress, with a slit at the front that showed off her perfectly tanned legs.

Wearing her hair in a subtle updo, she completed the look with gold eye makeup and a nude lip, matching her white nails to her dress.

She also notably wore flat, pointed shoes, which ensured all eyes were on her when she displayed the ruffled, featherlike back to her dress.

Meanwhile, Hayley, 42, was all sparkles in her more conservative glittering dress, which also had a slit leg.

It also helps young people overcome financial barriers when it comes to entering the hospitality industry.

Also in attendance was Lucie Jones, 34, who also put on a leggy display in a stunning, blue dress, alongside professional boxer David Haye, 44, who wore a suit jacket with a black top and trousers.

Socialite Lizzie last hit the headlines when she revealed that being a Bond girl is ‘Hell’.

She told the MailOnline of Pierce Brosnan’s stand-in: ‘I had to do the practicing with this smelly man, who had body odour – it was awful.’

Hayley, on the other hand, was last in the news following her split from The Chase star Mark Labbett, 59.

He was notably 16 years her senior and their split last May was reported to have been the result of the couple’s age gap.

Mark is said to have ended his relationship with Hayley over the phone, with the star later describing his actions after their year-long relationship as ‘heartless’.

Hayley was ‘crushed’ when Mark ended their relationship just days after they celebrated their first anniversary.

She told Fabulous: ‘I’m focusing on my self-worth and working towards the body I’ve always wanted.

‘It was a horrible breakup, and he was truly beastly. But now, I’m all about becoming the best version of myself.’

‘Showbusiness is full of cash-strapped, desperate backstabbers who will do anything for fame – and these are the unbelievable things I’ve seen wannabes do to try and stay relevant,’ says Lizzie Cundy

Lizzie Cundy has revealed the true cut-throat nature of showbiz, which she says is far from glamorous and full of ‘backstabbers’.

The former WAG and TV personality, 56, exclusively told MailOnline how after being announced as host of ITV At The Movies, one former friend whisked her out to celebrate – only to try stealing the job.

‘Little did I know, she went to the toilet, got her agent to ring the director and said “I don’t think Lizzie should do ITV At The Movies, my client would be much better”‘.

Lizzie, who hosted the show between 2008 and 2010, went on: ‘Thankfully I knew the producer who phoned to tell me, I’ve learned in this businesses, keep your friends close and your enemies closer’.

‘People think this celebrity world is all glamorous, wonderful red carpet events, it all looks like a fairytale but it is hard work, it isn’t easy, there is a lot of backstabbing’.

She continued: ‘Look at Love Island, friends are competing against each other because they want that brand deal, they want that TV show. We’ve seen it with like Olivia Attwood and Maura Higgins, they kind of go against each other, because they are in competition’.

Speaking about other less successful singleton’s from the ITV2 show, Lizzie said it was ‘soul destroying’ to see them discarded after being placed briefly on a ‘pedestal’.

‘They’re on this top show, the phone doesn’t stop ringing, everyone loves you, but once you are out if you haven’t made your mark, I have seen so many sadly thrown to the roadside’.

Asked how she had managed to stay in the limelight all these years, Lizzie put it down to being able to ‘reinvent herself’ after moving into TV from life as a WAG.

‘Thats the way to keep your head above water, otherwise you will be pulled down. I’ve milked the WAG industry for all it’s worth, I’ve done a book, done a musical, done a TV show.

‘Like my old friend Paul Danan who is no longer with us, he said to me “Lizzie how do you keep doing it” and I said “You have to keep reinventing yourself, keep moving”, some people sadly it’s just too much for them and there is a dark side to celebrity.

The Hollyoaks actor was found dead at his Bristol home in January aged 46 from a cocktail of drugs including cocaine and heroin.

The stunner confessed that despite showbiz being ‘dog eat dog’ she was lucky to have true friends in the industry, like Simon Cowell, 65, Bruno Tonioli, 69, and Rylan, 36.

‘I’m very fortunate to have good friends, Bruno is one of my best friends, I’m friends with Simon and they’ve been through it and it makes it very hard to trust’.

She said: She continued: 'Look at Love Island, friends are competing against each other We've seen it with like Olivia Attwood (L) and Maura Higgins (R) pictured 2016

Revealing the lengths some go to to piggyback off her and her friend’s successes, she said:  ‘What people do is, they’ll say “Wow can I have a selfie with you” and Bruno gets this, Simon does, Rylan,’

‘Then they’ll put it on their Instagram saying “great night out with Bruno” and he’s only just met them. Then they’ll try and get into parties saying “I am best friends with this person look” they’ll do anything’.

The GB News star, who is a red carpet regular, also recalled how one TOWIE star, who she declined to name, broke into a premiere despite not being invited, in a desparte bid to have her photo taken.

Lizzie laughed: ‘So she literally clambered over the railings, jumped over, posed for pictures. The security saw her so she ran into where the premiere was and locked herself in the toilets’.

‘She said: “As long as my pictures are taken it doesn’t matter, I’ll stay here all night”.  she literally stayed in that toilet and refused to come out’.

Lizzie also revealed how little some in the spotlight get paid after she earned a measly £250 for her appearance in 1995 James Bond movie Goldeneye.

In the movie, which was Pierce Brosnan‘s first outing as 007, Lizzie appeared as Famke Janssen‘s body double in the famous sauna scene where the character Xenia Onatopp tried to strangle Bond with her legs.

‘It sounds glamorous but there was lots of waiting around and films aren’t always cracked up to be’.

It comes after Lizzie revealed how her beloved mother Gloria stopped her on the way to the altar after being left so concerned she was tying the knot with a footballer.

The former WAG, who was married to Chelsea star Jason Cundy from 1994 to 2012, exclusively told MailOnline how she was taken to a pub in her wedding dress on route to the lavish ceremony and given the option to scarper.

Lizzie admitted that despite her parents ‘loving’ Jason, they knew little about the footballing world, beyond tabloid tales: ‘My mum hoped I’d be marrying a doctor or a lawyer, like her friend’s daughters and I was marrying a footballer’.

Lizzie also revealed how little some in the spotlight get paid after she earned a measly £250 for her appearance in 1995 James Bond movie Goldeneye (pictured with Pierce Brosnan in 1997)

‘Even as my dad was in the car taking me to the wedding, [my mum phoned and said] “pull over and just tell her it doesn’t matter, she has to be doing the right thing”‘.

Laughing at the memory Lizzie recalled how she, in her ivory gown complete with veil and tiara, along with her father, traipsed into the Wimbledon pub for a heart to heart, leaving onlookers stunned.

Sitting down with a gin and tonic, her late dad Derek said: ‘Lizzie you don’t have to do this, you really don’t, it’s one of the biggest decisions of your life and we love you’.

Looking back, Lizzie said: ‘My mum was a force to be reckoned with, and still is, and I wasn’t angry, they were just concerned and I just thought they really loved me and wanted me to make the right choice’.

The stunner explained how her mum, who is now 90, was worried about the ‘troubled life’ her daughter was marrying into: ‘All she’d seen from the George Best days was heartache and pain,’

‘No stability, moving about, which in fact she was totally correct about, but I have no regrets because I have two beautiful sons’.

Lizzie Cundy has lifted the lid on the not so glamorous life of a Bond girl, following her appearance in 1995’s Goldeneye.

The former WAG and TV personality, 56, recalled her experience on the set exclusively with MailOnline, which she described as ‘hell’.

Despite Bond’s million pound budgets Lizzie revealed that she only received £250 for her work on the film, but was thankfully invited for 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies.

‘It sounds glamorous but there was lots of waiting around and films aren’t always cracked up to be’.

Lizzie previously revealed that very embarrassing moment that happened to her during her second film appearance with Pierce.

In a 2021 Instagram post she recalled how he caught her and a friend ‘in his trailer using his toothbrush’ while on set of Tomorrow Never Dies.

It comes after fellow Bond star Rosamund Pike revealed she was ‘so mortified’ during her own saucy secen with Pierce in 2002’s Die Another Die, when she was only 22 and he was 48.

The British 46-year-old performed her first onscreen sex scene when her MI6 double agent seduced James Bond at an Iceland palace where they had a love-making session inside an epic swan-shaped bed.

‘I discovered things like nipple covers, and all the taping,’ Rosamund recalled on David Tennant’s podcast.

‘We have this clinch, and then we separate, and I look at this body tape and the nipple covers and they’re covered in hair. And I think, “Oh my God, I’m waxing Pierce’s chest!” I was so mortified! I thought, “Oh my God, he’s so brave, and I’m pulling off his chest hair with every embrace.”‘

The awkward on-set moment wasn’t as bad as Pike first imagined though as ‘it took a couple of takes to realize it was not him. It was the fake fur of the rugs adorning the swan bed. I literally thought I was waxing the poor man’s chest!’

‘I was married to a Premier League footballer – I’ll never forget why my mum tried to stop the ceremony… and here’s my warning to girls wanting to be a WAG’ reveals Lizzie Cundy

Lizzie Cundy has revealed how her beloved mother Gloria stopped her on the way to the altar after being left so concerned she was tying the knot with a footballer.

The former WAG and TV personality, 56, who was married to Chelsea star Jason Cundy from 1994 to 2012, exclusively told MailOnline how she was taken to a pub in her wedding dress on route to the lavish ceremony and given the option to scarper.

Lizzie admitted that despite her parents ‘loving’ Jason, they knew little about the footballing world, beyond tabloid tales: ‘My mum hoped I’d be marrying a doctor or a lawyer, like her friend’s daughters and I was marrying a footballer’.

Glamorous Gloria, who lives in swanky Sandringham and is a pal of Queen Camilla, worked as a model before becoming the head of fashion brand Jaeger. Lizzie also revealed her mum, despite her years, is active on the dating scene following the tragic death of husband Derek.

The WAG also went on to share insight into the ‘dark side’ of WAG life and her advice to those women hoping to following in her footsteps.

‘It’s very different being a footballer’s wife than people imagine, because they think it’s all glamorous with big houses and fast cars, the roar of the crowd, everyone loving you, and there are lovely bits, but actually there are some very lonely times’.

She said the beautiful game can be ‘not so beautiful’ and ‘quite ugly’ as WAGs are thrown into an unknown world and their lives left ‘in the hands’ of the Football club.

‘You can move at any time, you can just be settled with your kids at school and the next day “no you’re off”, you have to make friends again, it can be very cliquy’.

‘Your partner was never there at Christmas, birthdays, you could never arrange holidays because they were training,’

She went on: ‘Christmas Day they would never be around or couldn’t join in because Boxing Day is the biggest game of the year, so you couldn’t plan things and they’d be away a lot of the time and then there were girls that were after your guy’.

‘You found yourself quite lonely, I knew a lot of girls who had really huge mental health issues [due to the loneliness], not knowing who to trust and the women around your man, your life was out of your hands and in the football club’s’.

Lizzie and Jason, who share sons Josh, 29, and James, 25, split when he met Opera singer Hannah Pedley, who he would later to go on to marry.

Asking what advice she would offer to other women who wanted to be WAGs, Lizzie said: ‘I’d say be with a footballer for the right reasons, do it for love, if you are doing it for anything else you are going to be disappointed’.

‘Don’t do it for the lifestyle, because it isn’t all that it seems and it’s a rollercoaster of a ride and I was quite happy to get off it’.

Lizzie, who began dating Jason at just 19, previously said he had brought her into a world unlike any she’d ever known.

Telling MailOnline: ‘It took my breath away, that’s how glamorous it was, It’s like your first day at school and you’re like, “who’s going to talk to me?” They’ve all got their cliques. Are they going to like me? Some [WAGs] look you up and down.

‘Thankfully, with my character, I took a deep breath, went up to them and made friends. But it could be a very frightening experience to be honest. There’s the in crowd and those that aren’t so in. I sort of danced between both.’

Lizzie Cundy’s explosive claims about her fellow 90s WAGS: ‘Some took drugs to cope with pressure, one jealous girl scratched another girl’s sports car and they were all terrified of someone sleeping with their man’

She said the beautiful game can be ‘not so beautiful’ and ‘quite ugly’ as WAGs are thrown into an unknown world and their lives left ‘in the hands’ of the Football club (pictured 2008)

The Players’ Lounge after the games was the place to be and it was there where Lizzie got to know her fellow wives and girlfriends.

While she struck up a friendship with many, jealousy and rivalry were rife. With the players earning millions, WAGs were regularly treated to luxury gifts by their men.

This proved to be a recipe for disaster, with Lizzie recalling an incident where one woman was gifted a sports car by her husband – only for another woman to scratch up the car out of bitter jealousy.

She said: ‘One girl was given a brand new sports car by her partner and then and another girl who was jealous scratched it. That was a big thing at the club, who scratched the car? It was like a whodunnit but we all knew who did it.

‘The player denied it, it was all getting a bit embarrassing. These cars cost a lot of money, more than most houses, so it was serious.’

The attention on the WAGs throughout the 90s and into the 00s grew and grew. Getting your photo taken at matches and other events was a given and many felt the pressure to always look their best.

‘You’re conscious of people looking at you. Your husband scored and you know the camera will be on you,’ Lizzie explained. ‘There was pressure to stay slim, there wasn’t Ozempic in those days. I do think I went way too thin.

‘Girls would make huge effort, some outfits were really distasteful, some were splashed head to toe in designer and hadn’t got a clue. It was very competitive.’

Jo Wood reveals Mick Jagger used to ‘try it on’ with her during wild Rolling Stones tours as she recalls the heartbreaking way she found out her marriage to Ronnie was over

Jo Wood has revealed Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger used to ‘try it on’ with her, even while she was dating his bandmate Ronnie Wood.

The model, 70, met legendary rock guitarist Ronnie in 1977 and was married to him from 1985, joining the band for their wild tours across four decades.

They split up in 2009 but eventually became friends again although the pair, who share Leah, 46, and Tyrone, 41, rarely see each other.

Jo still has fond memories of exciting trips across the world with the Stones and told the Living And Living podcast with Lizzie Cundy and Mike Parry that despite Mick’s advances, she ‘only had eyes for Ronnie’.

She said: ‘I felt crazy in love with [Ronnie]. He was funny, he was mad, he was great.

‘[Mick Jagger] certainly did try it on and I did get really mad at him. I said, “in your wildest dreams Mick Jagger”. He had Jerry [Hall], I didn’t fancy him at all.

‘[Mick] loves women, he does. Doesn’t make him a bad person, I just didn’t fancy him at all.’

MailOnline has approached Mick Jagger’s representatives for comment.

Jo and Ronnie had a high-profile divorce in 2009, with Jo citing his affair with girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova.

She explained that Ronnie had even brought his new lover back to the family home after a drunken night out.

‘I still get on with Ronnie whenever I see him,’ he said. ‘I was devastated [when we broke up]. He was drinking so much at that time, he’d been in and out of rehab seven times.

‘He was a loony. I always thought I’d be able to rescue him and I couldn’t.

‘My friend said to me, “Ronnie’s been seen at a gig [with a woman]”, I said, “no he hasn’t”. I found it was true and he said, “it’s just my drinking buddy”, and I said, “if it’s just your drinking buddy then bring her over”, and he did!

‘Because she was so young I didn’t for a moment think he was actually s****ing her. She lit her cigarette on my stove and caught all her hair alight.

‘And then he went to Ireland but unbeknownst to me he took her with him and apparently she put on Facebook a picture of her in our house with the dogs.’

Jo recalled that she had no clue about Ekaterina’s visit to their Ireland home until the press told her about it at her front door.

The model then went on a day of family counselling with Ronnie, during which she realised it was over and the rocker told her that they should remain friends in the future.

‘I went home [after a family day of counselling] and cried my heart out,’ she told the podcast.

Jo kicked off her modelling career in the 70s and was The Sun’s Face of 1972 before marrying Peter Greene in 1973.

‘The only [rivalry] there was was Mick and Keith arguing. They argued a lot about everything.

‘Keith used to say, “I can’t stand that b****y song”, and when Mick did an album Keith was furious and wouldn’t talk to him for years.

‘There was always groupies and I would like at the girls backstage and think, “I wonder if I’ll see her back upstairs later”, but I was always nice to them because if I made friends with them it’s like, “leave my man alone”.’

Speaking about her reason for starting a talk show, she exclusively told MailOnline: ‘Last year I was at my lowest I had ever been, my self worth was on the floor and I completely lost my spark after dealing with an extreme sudden break up.’

She continued: ‘This year I’ve taken my power back! It was a dream of mine to have an audience for my chat show and I made it happen.’

In a interview, Hayley expressed her determination to move forward and focus on self improvements.

She told Fabulous: ‘I’m focusing on my self-worth and working towards the body I’ve always wanted.

‘It was a horrible breakup, and he was truly beastly. But now, I’m all about becoming the best version of myself.

‘I’m at the gym every day, swimming, doing affirmations, getting my steps in, doing body pump, and lifting weights.’

However, speaking to The Sun, Mark said: ‘She’s [Hayley’s] a lovely lady and I was very lucky to date her for a year, and as I said…it’s me, I got old.’

After Hayley said she couldn’t bear to think about Mark with another woman, the mastermind insisted that he isn’t actively dating.

He added: ‘There’s been no one since Hayley, I’m not saying there won’t be another one. But I’m certainly not looking.

‘I joke I am a shed man – a guy of a certain age that’s quite content being in or out of a relationship – but loves to be spending time on their own.’

Helen said: ‘I think they probably caught me on a bad day. Me and Scott, actually, we’re getting on fine.

‘It was my little boy’s birthday party, and we both did that together. But I also think it’s quite nice for me, I definitely think it’s better for me and my mindset, my mental health.

‘I think if you come to a little bit of peace. I’ve got so many memories with my ex that were so lovely and special to me and you know, I’d rather have that and look at it in a way with love really instead of feeling these kind of feelings of maybe like when you feel angry.’

Helen and Scott, 35, split in 2022 after thirteen years together, four of which they were engaged. As well as Matilda, nine, they share Delilah, six, and Charlie, three.

The former Coronation Street star is now dating new boyfriend Robbie Talbot, 45, and revealed how she introduced her children to her new partner.

‘Because I couldn’t bear it if my kids ever called someone else mummy or something like that, I would die. I think it’s about having an equal amount of respect.’

It comes after Helen previously admitted that the former couple ‘don’t like each other at all’ despite them ‘caring deeply’ for each other.

‘But I’m so done, I could never have another relationship again where we would always be bickering. I haven’t got another argument in me.

‘As women we try and do anything we can to make it work with the father of your children and I did.

‘But I think for me if I was in a relationship with someone else it would have to be easy because I haven’t got the energy in me again, I’ve done all that with the father of my kids.’

Lizzie Cundy’s explosive claims about her fellow 90s WAGS: ‘Some took drugs to cope with pressure, one jealous girl scratched another girl’s sports car and they were all terrified of someone sleeping with their man’

They were the toast of the town at the turn of the century; splashed across the country’s magazines and newspapers on a daily basis.

But being the wife or girlfriend of a footballer wasn’t all champagne and designer handbags, with drug use, jealousy and eating disorders rife among the partners of top players.

Few know the world of the WAGs better than TV personality Lizzie Cundy who was married to Chelsea star Jason Cundy from 1994 to 2012.

The former couple began dating when Lizzie was just 19 years old, bringing her into a world unlike any she’d ever known.

‘It took my breath away, that’s how glamorous it was,’ Lizzie told MailOnline as she looked back on the WAGs’ heyday.

‘It’s like your first day at school and you’re like, “who’s going to talk to me?” They’ve all got their cliques. Are they going to like me? Some [WAGs] look you up and down.

‘Thankfully, with my character, I took a deep breath, went up to them and made friends. But it could be a very frightening experience to be honest. There’s the in crowd and those that aren’t so in. I sort of danced between both.’

‘The player denied it, it was all getting a bit embarassing.

Even worse than the pressure to look good was the stress that came with your husband’s performance on the pitch.

Players were only as good as their last game and many feared the longterm impact it would have on their career if they went through a bad spell. Careers are often short and the fear of what came next was always there.

Their wives felt the duress too, with drug use and eating disorders tragically prevalent as the wild lifestyle took its toll.

‘There were girls who took it too far, sadly,’ Lizzie said. ‘Some girls, if their husbands weren’t playing, it was the pressure of that life.

‘Most footballers come from humble beginnings and they’ve had their partners from childhood. To be thrown into this world, sometimes it’s hard to cope with.

‘There were some eating disorders. I know some girls who went onto drugs who couldn’t cope; it was their way of getting through the day. I see some girls and I think, “how did I get through that?”

‘It would show in the Players’ Lounge. They’d come in half-wasted. If your player isn’t doing well, it tended not to be a happy home because of the worries of, “what will happen next?” It’s a short career, believe me. One game can end your career with an injury.

‘If your husband wasn’t playing well, the pressure would be on you and that’s when you saw marriages collapse. 75 per cent of marriages to footballers end after their career because it’s just very tough.’

To make matters worse, rivalries didn’t end at who had the biggest car or the nicest handbag. Lizzie didn’t hesistate when asked what the hardest part about being a WAG was.

‘The other women trying to get your bloke constantly,’ she said. ‘They’d have an away game, girls would find out where the away game was and and they would dress up like supermodels, sitting at the bar as the boys entered the hotel.

‘They’re red-blooded young men away from their partners so you had to have eyes at the back of your head.’

Lizzie and some of her fellow WAGs banded together to warn each other about unscrupulous husband hunters they suspected were trying to steal their men.

‘We had a WAG bubble and we’d say, “watch her, she’s onto your bloke.” “Watch my seat while I go to the loo,” ‘ Lizzie said.

‘Girls thought, “I want this life. I’m not going to get a movie star but I could get a footballer and he’s probably on better money.” ‘

Equality among the WAGs however, was nonexistent. Where you came in the pecking order was down to your husband’s standing on the team and everyone knew where they stood.

While the likes of Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Tweedy – then Cole – drew plenty of attention, it was Nancy Dell’Olio, wife of former England captain Sven -Göran Eriksson who reigned supreme.

‘There was a hierarchy, don’t forget,’ Lizzie said. ‘Nancy Dell’Olio wanted to be Queen B. She was Queen B. I remember she said to me once, “my husband’s the manager and yours is a two bit player,” and I thought, “yeah OK”. I took that on the chin.’

Lizzie laughed at the memory, adding: ‘She said it with a smile. Me and Nancy get on.’

Lizzie noticed public interest in the footballers’ wives early on and suggested to England manager Sven it might be a way for them to take the pressure off the players.

‘I spoke to Sven and I said, “look, everyone’s interested in the girls and that could take off the pressure from whatever the boys get up to.” He said, “this is genius, yes. Make the girls stars and it will take the pressure off my boys,” and it worked like a trick.

‘The WAGs came to town and it went global but they were only interested in the English Wags, no other country got it like we did. It was like the Beatles had come to town. The players were the new rock stars,’ she said.

WAGs these days are not as prominent in the public imagination as they once were, which Lizzie puts down to subsequent managers wanting to take things in a different direction.

‘After Sven left, the other managers thought, “we don’t like this.” I thought it was sad, your husband is at the pinnacle of his career and you can’t be there to watch him score the winning goal.’

Looking forward, Lizzie thinks more needs to be done to help players when their time on the pitch comes to an end.

‘Managers need to take a bigger responsibility for what happens to the players after football. I remember one player ringing me saying, “I don’t know how to pay a phone bill, what do I do?”

‘Players go into gambling, drinking. That’s the bide side of it. They say it’s the beautiful game but it’s not, it’s the ugly game.’

And her advice to the new generation of WAGs? Make the most of it it while you can.

‘I’d say enjoy it because footballers’ careers don’t last very long,’ she said. ‘Footballers always think this money lasts forever but it doesn’t. Enjoy the ride but be ready because it could end at any time.’

Vanessa Feltz admits she ‘feels less whole’ without a husband as she discusses importance of relationships and marriage to ex-Michael Kurer

Vanessa Feltz has admitted that she ‘feels less whole’ without a husband as she discussed her marriage to ex-Michael Kurer.

Discussing the importance of relationships with Lizzie Cundy and Mike Parry on the first episode of their new podcast, Loving and Living, on Wednesday the broadcaster, 63, reflected on being ‘scared’ to leave the wrong people.

Presenter Lizzie and Mike asked how Vanessa feels about being in a ‘permanent relationship’ to which she gave her thoughts.

The TV personality dated former Phats & Small singer Ben Ofoedu, 52, for 16 years, until reports of Ben’s infidelity were leaked to the press in 2023.

Previously she was married to ex-husband Michael from 1983 until they divorced in 2000. They share daughters Allegra, 38, and Saskia, 35.

Vanessa explained: ‘If it’s the right partner, boyfriend, someone you can trust then your life will be enhanced with that relationship.

Admitting that she missed being married, Vanessa added: ‘I like someone to love and I like someone to love me. Without that I feel less whole and less content. I like having somebody who is part of your team.

‘I was extremely happy in my marriage and I didn’t realise anything was wrong until one day he announced in a sort of Dalek voice, “I do not rule out the possibility of a divorce” just like that.

‘I was peeling potatoes and his mum was coming over for lunch. He left within a few weeks and I just didn’t know why.’

Explaining how the truth was revealed, Vanessa continued: ‘But, Pierce Morgan heard the news my husband had left and he just though “that sounds really weird” so he got a journalist to follow him and that’s how I found out he was having an affair.’

It’s not the first time Vanessa opened up about her personal experience with infidelity, sharing that she ‘famously’ took back a cheat and ‘it was a hell of a mistake’.

Speaking on her Youtube channel, she said: ‘I’m somebody who famously did take back a cheat. That was in 2017.’

The mother-of two went on to disclose that she only found out about her then-partner’s infidelity after the ‘object of dalliance’ informed her workplace bosses before she even knew.

‘It was a really horrible cheating thing that got exposed at my work and so my bosses knew that I had been cheated on before I did.

‘This is because the object of dalliance or whatever the hell was going on, the object of frenzied shagging, told my bosses. So that’s how I found out.’

She recounted the moment her partner begged for forgiveness: ‘Anyway the cheat begged to be forgiven, knelt on the kitchen floor, would you believe it if I told you, clutching a Bible, copy of the New Testament, you may not believe me, but I assure you it’s true.

‘And just said it was a terrible mistake, it was a dreadful accident, just didn’t know what had come over him etcetera etcetera. Please, please, please take him back. And so I did.’
