John Farnham is set to become a grandfather for the first time, and his son James couldn’t be happier as he was spotted showing off his partner’s growing baby bump on Saturday.

The iconic Aussie singer’s son announced in January he and Tessa Effendi are expecting their first child together, a baby boy who is due later this year.

James has now shared a picture to Instagram which showed he and his partner cuddling up for a selfie as she flaunted her swelling tummy.

The happy couple appeared to be enjoying a night out together as Tessa slipped into a tight white shirt while James opted for a black PAX tee.

James and Tessa announced their pregnancy earlier this year by sharing a clip to Instagram which showed James setting alight a beautifully decorated cake inscribed with the words ‘coming 2025’.

After he lit the inscription, it peeled away to reveal the word ‘Boy’, confirming they are having a son.

He also shared a photo of his partner’s ultrasound photo, which showed their unborn baby’s hand.

James captioned the clip with some heartfelt words: ‘Coming 2025! Tessa, I love you so much!’

James has been in a relationship with Tessa, who is a registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, for several years and they previously attended the premiere of the John Farnham: Finding the Voice documentary together.

This will be the first grandchild for the legendary You’re The Voice singer, whose elder son Robert married his long-term girlfriend Melissa Kelly in 2024.

In August, James and Rob, 45, shared intimate family moments in an effort to raise money for cancer research.

Rob and James, who are ambassadors for the Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day fundraising drive on August 22, took to Rob’s Instagram to share a series of heartwarming family snaps.

The clip showed Rob and James talking about their iconic father’s cancer journey over a carousel of rare family photos.

‘Our father was diagnosed with cancer two years ago,’ Rob said in the video.

‘The last couple of years have been difficult on our family. It started off as an ulcer inside his mouth and, we found out it was cancer. It was a pretty brutal time for us all.’

James added initiatives like Daffodil Day had played a crucial role in his father’s survival.

‘Our Dad wouldn’t be here without cancer research and that’s why days like Daffodil Day are important,’ he said.

Rob then urged followers to get behind the important cause by donating online or finding a flower stall.

It is unclear if John will ever perform again after undergoing a marathon surgery to remove the tumour from his mouth in 2022.

The operation, carried out by 26 medical staff, also saw a major part of his jaw removed and 12 months after the surgery John revealed he was cancer free.

He had only discovered he had the cancerous growth in his mouth after his wife Jill insisted on taking him to the doctor for a check up when he developed a persistent mouth ulcer.

John Farnham was spotted in a rare public outing on Tuesday when he celebrated his wife Jill’s 70th birthday at Grossi Florentino following his recent surgery.

The Australian music legend, 75, underwent a jaw reconstruction, which lasted for 12 hours and involved 26 doctors, after he was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2022.

Now it seems the hitmaker is back to enjoying life with his loved ones as he stepped out in Melbourne with his partner to celebrate with their nearest and dearest.

In images shared to Instagram by his son Robert, John could be seen having a conversation with a family friend as guests had dinner at the lavish restaurant.

They later viewed a montage video which looked back over Jill’s life and her long marriage with the Angels singer.

Australian accordion star Hans also made an appearance at the gathering as he performed Kylie Minogue’s recent hit Padam Padam.

At one point, the musician managed to get a smile out of John when he promised to play one of the rocker’s old hits.

As the evening drew to a close, John and Jill stood up to snap a group photo with their sons Robert and James, and their respective partners Melissa and Tessa.

The outing comes after James revealed his famous father is ‘kicking goals’ after having a cancerous growth removed from his mouth in 2022.

‘He’s doing great,’ James, who is expecting his first child with Tessa, said on Sunrise last month. ‘He’s walking around, kicking goals, and annoying mum as normal.’

‘As long as he’s annoying someone, you know he’s on the mend,’ host Natalie Barr said.

John has spent long months in recovery over the last two years amid a harrowing cancer battle.

He discovered he had the cancerous growth in his mouth after his wife Jill insisted on taking him to the doctor for a check up when he developed a persistent mouth ulcer.

The procedure, which saw the tumour and part of his jaw removed, lasted nearly 12 hours.

John then underwent eight gruelling weeks of radiation and, 12 months later, was declared cancer free.

In his memoir The Voice Inside, John detailed some of the harrowing details of his cancer journey.

‘My facial disfigurement from the surgery means I can’t open my mouth wide enough for a strip of spaghetti, let alone to sing,’ he wrote.

‘I can’t get the movement to make the sounds I want to make, that’s where the vibrations and my voice come from. It’s a very disconcerting thing. And trying hurts.’

He said while he is still not yet able to belt out his trademark voice, he still has high hopes that he will one day be able to sing again.

‘I was given a gift and to be able to get out there and affect people in some way was special, I would like to continue doing that,’ he shared.

John also said he believes the tumour came about as a result of his long-term smoking habit, which he eventually managed to kick.

‘Cancer doesn’t discriminate, but as soon as I was told the results, I couldn’t help thinking it was my own fault, I smoked very heavily all my life,’ he said.

He said he started smoking at the age of 14 and would do so in secret after his disapproving parents once caught him.

His memoir was co-written with Poppy Stockell and sees John tell his story in his own words and with his signature humour.

The book documents John’s early life and stardom growing up in Melbourne in the 1960s, to his comeback 1986 album Whispering Jack.

Robbie Williams revealed on Sunday that he will be jetting back to Australia next month to perform at the AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast.

The UK megastar, 50, played a New Years Eve concert in Sydney recently, which he admitted to ‘struggling’ with due to a cold and anxiety issues.

He will return Down Under to sing his famous hit Angels on February 7 as his biopic Better Man goes up for a record-breaking 16 nominations, reported Herald Sun.

‘I’m incredibly honoured to be attending and performing at the AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast next month,’ he told the publication.

‘The Better Man movie is something I’m extremely proud of.

‘For this movie to be embraced by the AACTA membership, with a record-breaking 16 AACTA Award nominations, is a very special moment for me.’

Robbie Williams, 50, (pictured) revealed on Sunday that he will be jetting back to Australia next month to perform at the AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast

Robbie went on to say that he ‘can’t wait to celebrate with everyone down under soon’, adding that it will be ‘an unforgettable night’.

The 2025 AACTA Awards will be hosted by Oscar winner Russell Crowe with presenters including Henry Cavill, Guy Pearce and Dr George Miller.

Robbie is up for several awards for his flick Better Man which was shot in Melbourne and directed by local Michael Gracey.

The hitmaker has been bumping shoulders with Aussies in recent months as he promotes the movie, which is a biographical musical about his rise to stardom.

He most recently brought Melbourne CBD to a stand still in early January when he performed a free concert at Federation Square.

Just days earlier, he brought in the New Year with a concert in Sydney, which he has since admitted he struggled to perform.

Robbie confessed he struggled with mental health ‘demons’ as he performed on stage in front of thousands of fans, which almost interrupted his show.

‘I battled with anxiety and mental health demons. Yes, the other night I was on stage on TV. I had the tail ends of a cold,’ Robbie told the Herald Sun.

The UK megastar played a New Years Eve concert in Sydney recently, which he admitted to ‘struggling’ with due to a cold and anxiety issues

The singer added he was taking medication for his cold and when combined with his ongoing mental health battle, he was left feeling very vulnerable.

‘On top of a cold, I had jetlag. Cold plus jet lag plus anxiety and mental illness is a very potent combination.

‘I noticed once I stepped on stage in front of 11 million viewing people, I felt crazy. I also had to hold it together and not, outwardly, let what was happening inwardly.’

He added his ‘demon’ of insecurity began to play with his mind and he worried about whether he would be able to perform to the best of his ability.

‘The demons now are, “Twitter’s gonna think I’m on stage off my face on coke.” Not only do I look crazy, I feel crazy,’ he said.

‘While I’m enjoying myself, and going with it, I’m also experiencing anxiety, and all the mean comments out there in internet land.’

Fortunately, Robbie managed to pull himself together and gave his many fans a show to remember.

Elsewhere at the concert, Robbie took a not-so-subtle potshot at an audience member.

The former Take That star was the headline act for the city’s New Year celebrations, which was broadcast on the ABC.

Robbie’s stellar performance was otherwise marred by an awkward exchange with an audience member.

After regaling the crowd with his chart-topper Let Me Entertain You and Wilson Pickett’s Land of 1000 Dances, Robbie and his 13-piece backing band launched into his 2002 track Me and My Monkey.

Robbie seemingly invited the audience to sing along, but was evidently less than impressed with one reveller’s rhythmic ability.

The singer awkwardly fell silent before chastising the audience member for their lack of timing.

‘You made me come in, in the wrong place,’ Robbie said.

‘Can you stop doing the lyrics to the song, then I don’t get it wrong.’

The camera then cut to a close up of Robbie, who was sporting an expression that suggested he was more than a little miffed with the audience member.

‘Now, okay?’ Robbie sternly instructed before continuing with the song.

Robbie’s eight song set was full of some of his biggest hits such as Feel, Better Man and Rock DJ.

He also surprised the crowd with a rousing rendition of the John Farnham classic You’re The Voice, before rounding out 2024 with his 2002 ballad Angels.

‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie,’ Robbie chanted during the song’s bridge, with the audience responding with the obligatory: ‘Oi, Oi, Oi.’

The British pop superstar spared no opportunity to promote his new documentary, Better Man, launching into a shameless plug mid-set.

It was before his performance of Better Man that Robbie gave a rave review to his own movie of same name.

‘Some critics are calling it the movie of the century! Not my words, except they are because I just made that up,’ he said to the crowd.

Robbie then asked if anyone had seen the movie as yet, and explained it had been filmed in Australia.

He even changed some of the lyrics to Better Man, and sang, ‘So go watch my movie, it’s full of drugs and sex, I’ve got my own biopic, I’m not even dead.’

However, Robbie’s bravura performance divided ABC viewers after the pop superstar took the opportunity to promote his new documentary, Better Man, launching into a shameless plug mid-set.

Robbie's stellar performance was otherwise marred by an awkward exchange with an audience member during the song Land of 1000 Dances

It was before Robbie’s performance of his 2000 hit Better Man that he gave a rave review to his own movie of same name.

‘Some critics are calling it the movie of the century! Not my words, except they are because I just made that up,’ he said to the crowd.

Robbie then asked if anyone had seen the movie as yet, and explained it had been filmed in Australia.

He even changed some of the lyrics to Better Man, and sang, ‘so go watch my movie, it’s full of drugs and sex, I’ve got my own biopic, I’m not even dead’.

The move divided viewers, with many annoyed that the ABC – a government owned, tax payer funded television station – was spending a pretty penny on Williams performance.

‘Did my tax dollars pay for this lazy Robbie Williams set? What the f**k. PR for a movie during a set as well?!’ wrote one person on X.

‘Robbie Williams is busy posing & promoting himself, how about singing a song,’ added another alongside a thumbs down emoji.

‘Your tax dollars hard at work with this Robbie Williams performance,’ posted another.

'You made me come in, in the wrong place,' Robbie said. 'Can you stop doing the lyrics to the song, then I don't get it wrong'

Others heaped praise on the stellar performance from the megastar and didn’t mind the plug.

Robbie Williams divided ABC viewers on Sunday night, despite bringing down the house at the tail end of the network’s New Year’s Eve broadcast.

‘Damn how did ABC afford Robbie Williams’ questioned a viewer tuning in at home.

Others heaped praise on the stellar performance and didn’t mind the plug.

‘Imagine being so sooky on New Year’s Eve that you get offended about Robbie Williams plugging his movie that was shot and directed by Australians’ wrote one.

‘Robbie Williams don’t give a F@#$ Aussie sucker’s paying their tax dollars to this s**t TV station’ yet one more chimed in.

‘The ABC, a non commercial network running 15 minute promotion for Robbie Williams new movie just before he comes on to perform. But you can’t refer to the SFS as Allianz stadium or mention any specific brand of any sort during a broadcast because it is supposed to remain neutral’ argued one viewer.

‘Robbie Williams has saved the ABC’ said another, with someone else posting, ‘Robbie Williams saves our big event once again’.

‘No one entertains better than Robbie Williams – NO ONE’ declared yet another fan.

Robbie earlier began his set with the rousing rendition of his massive hit Let Me Entertain You before a cover of Land Of A Thousand dances.

There was a snag at the start of his next tune, Me And My Monkey, with Robbie missing his cue and blaming his band, but Feel went off flawlessly.

Robbie completed the set with Rock DJ, cover of John Farnham’s You’re The Voice and Angels.

Legendary rocker hits back at John Farnham claim their former manager ‘drugged me for years’

A veteran Australian rocker has hit back at John Farnham’s shock claim that his former manager Darryl Sambell secretly drugged him for years.

Peter Tilbrook, who was the guitarist for iconic Aussie rock band The Masters Apprentices in the 60s, has taken to social media.

‘Sambell was a brilliant and skilful manager to us, and from what we saw and heard, definitely to Farnham as well,’ Tilbrook began.

‘I find it very hard to believe that any another manager at the time could have done any more to further Johnny’s incredible career.’

Sambell, who died in 2001 aged 55, managed Farnham’s early career from 1967 – 1976, and helped him launch his debut song Sadie the Cleaning Lady.

The talent agent also managed The Masters around the same time, and Tilbrook asserted his experience with the late manager was nothing like Farnham’s.

‘He was an amazing, caring and resourceful manager,’ Tilbrook said.

Farnham recently made shocking claims about Sambell in his new memoir, The Voice Inside.

Veteran Australian rocker Peter Tilbrook (pictured) has hit back at John Farnham’s shock claim that his former manager Darryl Sambell secretly drugged him for years

The singer claimed Sambell slipped substances into his coffee during an early period of his career when he held tight control over nearly every aspect of his life.

‘He drugged me for years and I had no f**king idea,’ Farnham wrote.

Daily Mail Australia does not suggest that John Farnham’s claims about being drugged are not true.

Farnham first became alarmed when he found a half-dissolved pill at the bottom of his coffee cup.

When confronted, Sambell allegedly downplayed the situation, telling him: ‘That’s just something to help you stay awake.’

‘He isolated me from friends and family, tried to keep me away from [my wife] Jill, he drugged me, and he made me believe all my success, everything I had, was because of him.’

He said the manager’s influence was so pervasive he didn’t recognise the manipulation at the time.

Sambell ‘controlled where and when I worked, what I sang, wore, what I ate,’ Farnham says.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s memoir falls to number four in book charts as John Farnham and cookbooks take top spots

Jackie O Henderson’s new book is already sinking with readers just two days after it first hit the shelves.

The 49-year-old’s tell-all tome The Whole Truth was riding high on Amazon’s bestseller book list at number two on Wednesday.

But by Thursday afternoon the mother-of-one’s racy life story had fallen to number four on the online seller’s book chart.

And in a surprise twist Jackie’s tale was beaten by John Farnham’s memoir The Voice Inside, which sits at number three.

Meanwhile, the two top spots on Amazon’s bestselling chart are cookbooks, RecipeTin Eats: Tonight: Dinners for every night of the week at number one, while foodie Brooke Bellamy’s Bake with Brooki sits at number two.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Jackie O’s publisher Penguin Random House for comment.

It comes after Jackie announced the profits of her memoir will be donated to charity.

The radio queen recently came under after revealing on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that she secretly checked into the Betty Ford Clinic for drug and alcohol addiction in November 2022.

Many criticised the radio personality for using an overseas facility favoured by the rich and famous, while thousands of Australians struggle to afford local rehabilitation services.

On Monday, Jackie took to Instagram to share that she took on board the comments and would be donating her book’s profits to a worthy cause.

In the post, she wrote a long message to her fans, saying she had been ‘deeply moved by the thousands of messages’ she had received from people ‘unable to afford rehab’.

Jackie went on to acknowledge that not every person who struggles with addiction would have the same opportunity.

‘Which is why, all my profits from my book, which is on sale tomorrow, will be donated to Odyssey House Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre,’ she continued.

‘Odyssey House provides life-changing support to individuals seeking treatment but who are struggling financially…the work they do is powerful, important and transformative.’

The radio star made the stunning admission about her addiction issues during a tearful conversation with her co-host Kyle Sandilands on their KIIS FM radio show last Thursday morning.

Jackie revealed that at the height of her addiction she was consuming up to 12 Stilnox sleeping pills and 24 Panadeine Forte tablets daily, often with alcohol.

Known for treating Hollywood stars including Keith Urban, Robert Downey Jr. and Lindsay Lohan, the Betty Ford Clinic charges anywhere from $45,000 to $90,000 AUD for a month-long stay, depending on the program.

Jackie admitted she was advised not to reduce her pill intake before arriving at the clinic, meaning she was still using the substances the day she flew out to the US.

When Jackie took her break from the show in 2022, Kyle Sandilands told listeners she was stepping away to ‘focus on her health’ after contracting COVID-19.

However, behind the scenes, the beloved radio host was battling an addiction that had spiralled out of control.

Jackie admitted she was ashamed of her secret, fearing public judgement, and decided to get help after hitting rock bottom.

Jackie said she began struggling after her split from UK photographer Lee Henderson in 2018.

Jackie said she wanted to publicly speak about her addiction battle to reduce the ‘stigma’ around drug dependence and ‘normalise’ it.

The presenter bravely apologised to listeners for not revealing her health struggles before and revealed she will be marking two years of sobriety in a matter of weeks.

‘I want to apologise to our listeners and everyone in my life […] I just needed to concentrate on that part first, that recovery,’ she said.

John Farnham’s manager Gaynor Wheatley reveals the surprising reason why he finally decided to write a memoir

John Farnham’s beloved friend and manger Gaynor Wheatley revealed on Wednesday the surprising reason why he finally decided to write a book about his life.

The widow of John Farnham’s long-term manager Glenn appeared on A Current Affair and revealed the You’re The Voice hitmaker, 75, had rejected offers to write a book for years.

‘I did not think he would write a book. There has been many offers over the years and he’s absolutely rejected them for as long as I can remember,’ Gaynor began.

However, she added that John had finally agreed to write his newly released memoir The Voice Inside, for a surprising reason.

‘I think he has a story to tell now. He just felt it was his opportunity and his time now to say what he wanted to say.’

Gaynor was married to Glenn Wheatley from 1982 until his death in February 2022, and is one of the singer’s most beloved friends.

Earlier this week, Gaynor opened up about whether the iconic Australian singer will ever perform again following a brutal mouth cancer battle.

The singer underwent extensive surgery in 2022 to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth, including one 12-hour operation.

‘I know when he got back in the studio doing the audiobook, he was like, “I want to get back, I want to go back”.’

‘Whether he’ll perform again, I don’t know. But I’d certainly want to get him back in the studio.’

John Farnham’s Oral Cancer Battle: A Harrowing Journey

John Farnham has opened up about his terrifying cancer battle, which has left him unable to fully open his mouth.

The Australian singer, 75, was declared cancer-free one year ago and has shared details about the harrowing ordeal in his upcoming memoir, titled The Voice Inside.

He revealed he has been left unable to sing or fully open his mouth after undergoing a gruelling 12-hour surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth.

‘My facial disfigurement from the surgery means I can’t open my mouth wide enough for a strip of spaghetti, let alone to sing,’ John detailed in an extract published in the Sydney Morning Herald.

‘I can’t get the movement to make the sounds I want to make, that’s where the vibrations and my voice come from. It’s a very disconcerting thing. And trying hurts.’

He said while he is still not yet able to belt out his trademark voice, he still has high hopes that he will one day be able to sing again.

‘I was given a gift and to be able to get out there and affect people in some way was special, I would like to continue doing that. Though I am not putting all my hopes into it, we’ll see,’ he shared.

John also said he believes the tumour came about as a result of his long-term smoking habit, which he eventually managed to kick.

‘Cancer doesn’t discriminate, but as soon as I was told the results, I couldn’t help thinking it was my own fault, I smoked very heavily all my life,’ he said.

His memoir has been co-written with Poppy Stockwell and will see Farnham tell his story in his own words and with his signature humour.

The book, slated for release on October 30, documents Farnham’s early life and stardom growing up in Melbourne in the 1960s, to his comeback 1986 album Whispering Jack.

Her co-panellists agreed, with Waleed Aly saying: ‘It’s at once familiar and different… you can kind of hear what he’s been through but unmistakably, it’s [Farnham].’

‘Not just the voice, but the intonation.’

Sarah added: ‘He said it’s been a rollercoaster recording it because of all the highs and lows he’s had over the last few years. It’s good to see him.’

‘Apart from everything else though, I tell you what, he reads the book well. It’s not easy to do,’ Waleed said.

John was declared cancer-free last August and wowed fans earlier this year when he attended the wedding of his oldest son, Rob, 44, and his new bride Melissa.

Elsewhere in the chat Jim shared that it was his father’s wishes to share regular updates with his followers as a tribute to his fans during his illness.

‘He is quite a humble guy and he is very thankful for the career he has had and the people who supported him.’

It comes after Jim and Rob shared an encouraging update on their father’s recovery.

They announced their dad was ‘keeping positive’ after having a cancerous growth removed from his mouth in 2022.
