Ashlee Simpson Ross-Næss looked loved-up with her second husband Evan Ross-Næss while partying at the invite-only club Hearsay in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood on Sunday night.

The married couple of a decade were attending rapper Busta Rhymes’ release party for his six-track EP Dragon Season… The Awakening.

At one point, the 21-time Grammy nominee embraced the 36-year-old nepo-baby of Diana Ross during a candid discussion.

Busta (born Trevor George Smith Jr.) appeared to be in good spirits despite being charged with three counts of assault for allegedly punching his assistant Dashiel Gables ‘for being on his phone during work’ in Brooklyn – according to New York Post.

The 40-year-old singer-turned-socialite’s sighting came the day before NBC broadcast Questlove’s documentary Ladies and Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music, which included her infamous lip-synching gaffe from 2004.

‘And for me, even though I felt initially disappointed that Ashlee Simpson declined to give her side of the story of what happened,’ the 54-year-old Oscar-winning director lamented to IndieWire last week.

‘I literally went to everyone worth their grain of salt and some were yes and some were no.’

SNL music producer Josiah Gluck revealed ‘it was decreed’ just before the live show began that Ashlee would save her scratchy voice by lip-synching both musical performances, and her drummer accidentally cued up the same song twice.

Ashlee likely felt she had already said everything she could about her ‘humbling moment’ when she appeared on the Broad Ideas With Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen podcast a year ago.

‘[I learned] the power of me saying absolutely not,’ Simpson – who hasn’t released a song since Bat for a Heart in 2012 – stated.

‘I had the No. 1 song and everything was about to go somewhere. And then it was just like, whoa. The humility of not even understanding what grown-a** people would say about you, grown-a** men, awful awful things. It was so hard to learn how to tune that out, to find my strength, to get up and go again.’

At least the Texan redhead’s marriage is still going strong having first met Evan at a friend’s birthday party in 2013, and the couple both call each other ‘the love of my life.’

Ashlee gushed on their 10th wedding anniversary: ‘The rain came on our wedding day and I needed to see you before. Nothing better. You are my sunshine, and it came to shine on us as we got married. I love you forever. Thank you for completing my life.’

And Ross wrote: ‘I cant believe it. It feels like yesterday. These 10 years have been the most amazing years. Thank you for all this love you have put in my life.’

Simpson and the Beast Within producer are proud parents of four-year-old son Ziggy Blu and nine-year-old daughter Jagger Snow.

Jessica, who earlier this month shared rare snaps of all three of her children, previously admitted in 2019 that she lost 100lbs nearly six months after giving birth to her third daughter, Birdie.

She followed a meal plan and walked 14,000 steps per day with help from celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, and has since shared updates from the gym as she’s maintained the weight loss through the years.

‘6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240),’ she wrote on Instagram when revealing her weight loss.

‘My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.’

In September 2022 Jessica said she is happy to ‘make money off’ the chatter surrounding her fluctuating weight.

The star acknowledged that her weight has been the subject of speculation for years, and it was actually one of the reasons she decided to launch her own fashion line, The Jessica Simpson Collection.

The singer – told Extra: ‘I decided, ‘Okay, everybody is going to talk about my weight all the time, I might as well make money off of it and turn it into a business of selling clothes and acceptance.”

Meanwhile, in her memoir Open Book, Jessica revealed that she went sober in 2017, and took to Instagram to share a photograph of herself while in the midst of her addiction.

The unflattering snap featured the blonde beauty look nothing like her usual self, while wearing a pink track suit as she sat in a dark room.

In the original caption Simpson wrote: ‘This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself.’

She went on: ‘I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.’

‘Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted. I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor.’

Simpson continued: ‘I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.’

‘I can’t believe it has been 4yrs! It feels like maybe 2. I think that is a good thing. Ha. There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic. The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self sabotage.’

‘The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do.’

‘I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.’
