Susan Sullivan — known for her role on the ABC drama series Castle — has been battling lung cancer.
The actress, 80, informed fans of her diagnosis Tuesday and revealed that she recently underwent a ‘successful’ surgery.
‘Thanks for all the lovely comments and concerns. I had lung cancer,’ penned Sullivan on X, days after sharing a photo of herself in hospital.
She continued: ‘The surgery was successful. The healing process is a struggle. Thanks glad you’re out there!’
Sullivan did not share any further details about her cancer diagnosis or what her recovery will entail.
In a photo shared to X on Monday, Sullivan is seen standing beside her hospital bed in a dressing gown while attached to an IV drip and a heart rate monitor.
She also had on a yellow medical grade face mask.
Sullivan supported herself by holding onto an IV pole with one hand while the other was latched on to the handle of an oxygen tank.
‘Life’s surprising little turns try to be ready for them with humor and hope. On we go,’ she captioned the post.
Since sharing her diagnosis, Sullivan has received an outpouring of love and support from fans and friends.
