Singer Carrie Underwood is drawing high praise on social media after her performance at the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
The 41-year-old singer was brought on to sing America the Beautiful in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda during the inauguration ceremony on Monday.
While her performance was supposed to be accompanied by a musical instrumental, it only played briefly before cutting out entirely due to a technical glitch.
The singer was seen telling staffers, ‘I can just sing it,’ before telling the crowd, ‘If you know the words, help me out here.’
She proceeded to sing the iconic song a cappella, with the crowd taking her up on that offer as many started to sing along as well.
Many took to social media to praise her performance, including news analyst Kyle Becker, who said, ‘Wow. Carrie Underwood just pulled off the greatest improvisation since Donald Trump shouted “fight, fight, fight” after getting shot in the ear. Chills.’

While fans had much praise for the singer, a Daily Mail exclusive report revealed that the singer actually threw a ‘hissy fit’ after the performance.
Insiders revealed the singer was furious because she wasn’t given a ‘stage or platform even’ to perform on like past inauguration performers.
‘Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, primarily due to the limited space she was given, which left her feeling cramped and uncomfortable,’ the source said.
The source added: ‘Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received.’
‘She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterwards,’ the source added.
