Carlotta has Nevus of Ota which is a blue or brown pigment on the skin and around the eyes often seen in Asia.
The condition is not painful or dangerous and can be treated with laser therapy, however Carlotta decided not to change her birthmark and has now embraced it.
But the star previously revealed that she struggled with bullying and self confidence when she was younger.
From the age of eight she wore foundation and concealer in an attempt to cover the mark and even went as far as to try coloured contact lenses to hide the hyperpigmentation in her eye.
But after several years the model decided to stop, and after removing her makeup and embracing her natural skin she was approached by British photographer Brock Elbank for a portrait.
Carlotta now says she can’t imagine herself without the spot and loves it.
She also explained in an interview with Italian newspaper Torino Corriere that while some people have accused her of looking like a reptile’ or being a witch, most people are nice.

She explained that after months of being told it was an ear infection, a doctor revealed the benign growth.
After her life-saving operation Carlotta had to endure months of physiotherapy and speech therapy to combat 90 per cent of the paralysis in her face but admitted you can still see a shadow of it.
The fashionista explained that she started to wear her birthmark proudly to ‘break the taboo’.
She said: ‘Maybe someone will draw strength from my experience. Before writing, I called my psychologist to tell him that I was tired of skeletons in the closet. Tired also of feeling like a prisoner of a system whereby, if you say or do something, you’re just carrying out a marketing action.’
She added that her dream is to take to the stage and discuss diversity and change the narrative of body positivity.
