Cardi B has apologised to her fans for asking them to buy her album after seeing the price of rents in New York City.
The rapper, 33, released her highly anticipated second album Am I The Drama last month – the first full-length album since 2018.
While the new tracks have received positive reviews, Cardi has been relentlessly promoting the record on her social media and even taking to the streets to sell copies.
However, the star has now apologised to fans in a live stream after learning how much the price of rental properties are in the Big Apple.
Appearing to be in a hotel room, Cardi could be seen laying on a bed as she interacted with her followers.
She said of the rents: ‘It’s just too f***ing dangerous, so how the f*** a one bedroom, white refrigerator, is $1,500….I don’t know how people surviving.

‘I’m so sorry for asking ya’ll to buy my album and this is how the economy is right now. The rent is so f***ing high and crazy in The Bronx, no matter where, I am so sorry.’
She added: ‘It is crazy, I’m sorry ya’ll that I told you to buy my album.’Â
The singer’s candid comments were met with praise from fans, with one even swiping: ‘Taylor Swift could neverrrrr with this level of accountability/humility.’
A second said: ‘I’ve seen enough. Give her the democratic nomination..’
‘She remembers how hard life was before she got famous. She’s one of the few who really struggled & can empathize with people,’ said a third.
While a fourth commented: ‘Cardi is a based artist and human being. This is why I adore her so much.’
Earlier this year the Daily Mail revealed how Newark, New Jersey was the top city in the US where rents rose the fastest in the last year.Â
It saw an 8.1 percent increase in rental costs as properties increased from an average $2,073 to $2,241 since last year.

Meanwhile, fans were recently left divided as Cardi took to the subway in an attempt to sell copies of her album.Â
The Grammy winner decided to portray a starving artist trying to sell her CD on the subway.Â
As the doors open to the car, the rapper walked into the frame wearing white joggers and a black hoodie pulled over her long, red hair.Â
‘Good evening everybody, I’m trying to sell these CDs, I’m trying to change my life around,’ she began walking through the car in a pair of black slide sandals.Â
‘I used to be a professional ballerina, well, uh, I’m trying to make a better example for my kids,’ she said as she walked through the scarcely populated car.Â
‘If you could please buy my new album, Am I The Drama, $9.99,’ she said approaching a potential customer.Â
‘We’ve got the vinyl,’ she said, turning to another, for about 20, 30 dollars, you know what I’m saying, please support a mother of three. Â
When the first person handed her money, Cardi tucked it into her hoodie and said ‘Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.’

Cardi has previously denied she is struggling financially but seems to be playing in to rumors of financial problems following her divorce from ex-husband Offset.
The Bad and Boujee rapper, 33, is said to have some significant money problems, including allegations of millions of dollars in unpaid taxes.
The pair share three children, Kulture, seven, Wave, four and Blossom, 12 months.Â
