Caprice Bourret Feels Unsafe in London Amid Rising Anti-Semitism

She burst on to the London scene in the Nineties as a lingerie model, landing magazine covers and starring in ad campaigns for household favourites Diet Coke and Pizza Hut.

But now Caprice Bourret has revealed she no longer feels safe in the city she’s called home for the last 30 years due to a rise in anti-Semitism.

The Californian-born blonde, who is Jewish, adds she’s going to great lengths to protect herself and her family from being attacked for their faith.

‘It’s such a terrible time to be Jewish because of the hate we can and do receive,’ she tells me.

‘I don’t recognise this country anymore. Nobody should feel afraid or intimidated because of their religion.

‘The whole concept is bizarre to me, but it’s happening right now.’

The 53-year-old – who since her modelling heyday has also become a businesswoman and media personality – lives in West London with her husband American financier Ty Comfort and sons, Jax and Jett, both 11.

‘I had to take the Mezuzah down from my door… I was afraid for the safety for my children,’ she adds, referring to the small case containing a parchment scroll with verses from the Torah affixed to the doorposts of Jewish homes.

Caprice, who was previously romantically linked to Sir Rod Stewart, Hollywood star Dennis Quaid and Prince Andrew, is the daughter of a Jewish mother and a French-Canadian father – hence the Gallic surname.

She says despite what she sees as increased animosity towards Jewish people, her faith won’t be shaken.

‘It has made me closer to Judaism,’ she says.

‘And weirdly enough, with all of this backlash and propaganda against us, it’s made the community a lot closer. It’s really scary, more than anything. My kids are scared and I have to protect them.’

Now Moss policies fashion

Being a renowned supermodel, she’d know a thing or two about fashion.

So it’s no surprise Kate Moss has taken it upon herself to ‘police’ poorly dressed pedestrians.

‘I like going, “What are they thinking?”’ she admits. ‘I don’t want to be judgy, but you know when you’re like, “Nee naw, nee naw, fashion police!”’

Kate, 51, adds of one style offence she witnessed: ‘It was the weirdest look. She had a pork-pie hat, a yellow Chanel backpack, tights, leather shorts, a yellow Nike high top trainer.

I pulled them over and said, “Where are you from?” They said France. They’re definitely not from Paris, that’s for sure.’

Conti’s car drama… but there’s a twist in the tale

Actor Tom Conti is the latest critic to hit out against London mayor Sadiq Khan’s Ultra Low Emission Zone after falling foul of the scheme.

I can reveal the Shirley Valentine star says Transport for London (TfL) wrongly fined him more than £1,200, alleging a technical failure cancelled his ULEZ payments without his knowledge.

‘When I bought the car I’m driving, I put it on auto pay because it’s not ULEZ–compliant,’ he tells me.

‘A year later, a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) came in saying, “You didn’t pay the ULEZ charge”. I discovered the autopay had been removed. I explained. I got no response. Another PCN came in.’

A TfL spokesman said the charges and penalties were a result of Conti ‘removing his vehicle from auto pay when he was changing the vehicle on the account’.

They added: ‘We are sorry that more understanding wasn’t shown to Mr Conti when an appeal was submitted after the deadline. As this was clearly a case of human error, we have used our discretion to cancel the outstanding balance.’

Conti, 83, says he’s ‘grateful’ for the ‘good result’.

How Esme is starring in a love story of her own

Soon to play hopeless romantic Marianne Dashwood in the new film adaptation of Sense And Sensibility, Samantha Morton’s daughter Esme Creed-Miles is enjoying her own love story off screen.

After coming out as a lesbian earlier this year, the 25-year-old has made a very modern declaration of love for her girlfriend Daisy Maybe.

Esme, whose father is actor Charlie Creed-Miles, posted a picture of the British singer and model, and captioned it with engagement ring and love heart emojis, prompting much speculation the couple plan to tie the knot.

They were congratulated by friends such as Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anais, who wrote in a caption: ‘Congrats.’

A brew of Twinings won favour with King Charles when he renewed their royal warrant last year.

I hear the tea maker now wants to make their status official and is seeking permission to update the Royal Warrant crest on its 300-year-old flagship store on The Strand in London.

In an application, filed last week, it says it’s seeking to replace the late Queen’s warrant with that of His Majesty.
