Candace Cameron Bure addressed the public feuds she’s been involved with, sharing how she handles the backlash against her.
The Full House star, 49, has found herself pulled into a number of public clashes over the years — including with JoJo Siwa, Hilarie Burton, Raven-Symone, and Scheana Shay — often sparked by her outspoken conservative Christian views.
Candace shared that she usually opts not to fight back during the ‘weird’ feuds while appearing on Madison Prewett’s Stay True podcast on Monday.Â
‘But it’s just, like, weird. It’s weird,’ Candace said about the negativity she’s gotten online at times.
‘How do I handle them? I usually don’t fight back in the comments, because nothing really comes from it.’
‘I feel like when you fight back in the comments, it becomes defensive. I feel like the more people defend themselves, the less integrity it holds.’

Candace went on to say that she usually tries not to get personally involved, but doesn’t mind when her fans defend her.
‘I let God fight my battles a lot online. I also let the other people who are genuine fans fight my battles for me too,’ she said.
‘Because sometimes they come in, they’re like, “She doesn’t do that. That’s not what she meant by that.”‘
‘It just takes that self control, that you’re like, “God, I just have to let that go because I’m not gonna please everybody, and just help me walk my walk that is honoring and pleasing to you as best as I can. Help me learn and discern.” That’s the biggest thing.’
Candace feuded with Siwa after the singer called her the ‘rudest celebrity’ she’s ever met in 2022.
And in 2023, Siwa admitted that she was ‘okay’ with labeling Candace that, after the star’s ‘traditional marriage’ remarks.
Siwa recalled the moment that had caused her to label the actress as ‘rude,’ and expressed that when she was only 11-years-old, she had attended a red carpet event with other Full House cast members.
However, when she had asked Cameron to take a photo, JoJo claimed that the star had responded with ‘not right now’ and never returned to take a picture with the dancer while moving on for photos with others.
After the TikTok went viral, Bure personally called Siwa to apologize over the past situation and also issued a video statement of her own to admit that hearing JoJo’s story ‘broke her heart’, which initially thawed the ice.

During a Viall Files podcast podcast episode, Siwa revealed that at first, she felt regret over her TikTok video calling Candace out, but explained that now, she felt ‘okay’ about it.
Siwa continued, ‘It was like the article said Candace Cameron says no to gays,’ and later added, ‘After that, it gave me a little sense of, “Okay, you and her are never going to agree.”‘
‘You and her are never going to be friends, you and her are never going to get along…I’m never going to be able to change her, she’s not going to be able to change me, we can both just live life, we can both just have fun.’
‘But I wish she was able to be a little more open, a little more accepting. I’m okay with calling her out in the way that I did.’
Meanwhile One Tree Hill alum Burton, 43, blasted Candace as a ‘bigot’ in 2022, over her Great American Family channel.
‘Bigot,’ Burton tweeted. ‘I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank,’ she wrote.
She went on to slam her as ‘disgusting’ in another Tweet, while also taking aim at Bill Abbott, the chief executive at Great American Media.

‘Now they’re just openly admitting their bigotry,’ Burton wrote. ‘I called this s**t out years ago when Abbott was at Hallmark. Glad they dumped him. Being LGBTQ isn’t a “trend.” That guy and his network are disgusting. You too Candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples.’
Two days later, Cameron Bure appeared to respond via an Instagram video, referencing ‘those who hate what I value and who are attacking me online’ and ‘those who have tried to assassinate my character’ though she did not refer to Burton by name.Â

The actress defended the bakers, citing their right to religious freedom, while the Disney Channel alum criticized the discrimination against the LGBT community.

Shay revealed she had a negative experience when she met the Full House star for the first time about a decade ago.
She said she was looking forward to meeting Bure as she was a fan of the family sitcom but claimed the actress ‘wasn’t very nice’ during their encounter and ‘was so dismissive of me.’
In July 2024, Candace publicly criticized the Paris Olympics opening ceremony for featuring a drag performance that appeared to recreate The Last Supper, which seemed to spark a response from her former Full House co-star Jodie Sweetin.

‘It’s the best of the best athletes in the world competing for the title, so to watch such an incredible event that’s going to take place over the next two weeks and see the opening ceremonies complexly blasphemed and mock the Christian faith with their interpretation of the Last Supper was disgusting,’ Candace wrote via Instagram.

In April 2025, Sweetin, 43, addressed the rumored feud on The Vault podcast, insisting her post was not aimed at Candace, but that she still stood by her opinion.
‘I’m not changing anything I said,’ she said. ‘But it was not an intentional dig. But it was still what I wanted to say.’
