Busy Philipps Weighs in on Dawson’s Creek Reunion After 20 Years

Dawson’s Creek fans were sent into a frenzy on Tuesday when Busy Philipps had her say on Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes at last reuniting.

Ohio-born Katie, 46, and Joshua, 47, beamed with delight on Monday as they were spotted on set together for the first time in 22 years as they begin filming their upcoming trilogy Happy Hours.

The pair famously portrayed Capeside High School sweethearts on Dawson’s Creek for six seasons more than two decades ago.

Taking to Instagram, Katie gushed about her friendship with Joshua, writing: ‘I am so very grateful to be working again with so many of my wonderful friends on this film HAPPY HOURS. And working with Josh after so many years is a testament to friendship.’

And in the comments section, Busy – who played Pacey Witter’s (Joshua Jackson) girlfriend in the teen soap, Audrey Liddell – showed that she’s just as excited as supporters to see her former co-stars reunite.

The 46-year-old actress wrote: ‘We are seated.’

It comes after Busy and Joshua also reunited just last month as they were pictured together at a charity event in Los Angeles.

The pair looked thrilled to see each other after arriving at the event in late-June, with both of them bursting into laughter while shared a hug on the red carpet.

And just a few short weeks later Holmes and Jackson were pictured together for the first time in years on Monday on the set of Happy Hours.

Katie (Joey Potter) and Joshua (Pacey Witter) portrayed former lovers who cross paths years later and rekindle their romances while navigating the challenges of career in Dawson’s Creek, which ended after six series in 2003.

Not only did their characters strike up a romance, but so too did Katie and Joshua, with the pair dating during the first two seasons of Dawson’s Creek.

Katie told Rolling Stone in 1998: ‘I’m just going to say that I met somebody last year, I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable.

‘I feel so fortunate because he’s now one of my best friends. It’s weird, it’s almost like a Dawson-and-Joey type thing now. He’s been in the business so long, and he’s really helped me. I respect him as a friend and as a professional.’

And after all these years, Dawson’s Creek fans were ecstatic to see some of their favourite stars together again on Monday.

Both Jackson and Holmes are divorced parents-of-daughters having officially ended his five-year marriage to Jodie Turner-Smith in May.

Holmes ended her six-year marriage to Tom Cruise in 2012.

Happy Hours, their new endeavour, sees Holmes and Jackson star alongside Mary-Louise Parker, Constance Wu, Joe Tippett, Nathan Darrow, Johnna Dias-Watson, and Jack Martin.

Sting’s second wife Trudie Styler is one of the eight IMDb-credited producers on the ambitious project.

The Rare Objects director-star enlisted her Our Town castmates John McGinty, Donald Webber Jr., and Sky Smith to appear in her trilogy.
