Burberry Rebounds with Sanitised Festivalwear at London Fashion Week Finale

Burberry brought London Fashion Week to a regal close on Monday night by staging its spring/summer 2026 show in Perks Field, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s private garden at Kensington Palace.

And while the residents of nearby ‘Billionaire’s Row’ may have objected to the noise and traffic, there were zero complaints about the impressive number of stars.

Making a rare appearance, the guest of honour at the show was Sir Elton John, 78, who accessorised his black coat with a striking red Burberry scarf.

He was joined by supermodel Naomi Campbell, 55, who stunned in a green velvet trouser suit.

Meanwhile models Twiggy, 76, Alexa Chung, 41, and Jude Law’s daughter Iris, 24, dressed to impress for the star-studded show.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 38, wowed in a leather trench as she arrived on the arm of her Hollywood action hero husband Jason Statham.

Also in attendance were Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey, 37, actresses Vanessa Williams, 62, Jodie Turner-Smith, 39, Ellie Bamber, 28, and presenter Maya Jama, 31.

Singer Raye, 27, was joined by Ab Fab stars Jennifer Saunders, 67, and Joanna Lumley, 79, who were also in the crowd.

The world of sport was represented, too, by tennis star Jack Draper, 23, and former footballer turned commentator Ian Wright, 61.

While many of the guests took their front row seats wearing trench coats – either in suede, patent or classic cotton gabardine – there were yet more iterations on the catwalk, including versions in turquoise leather, snake print and an eye-searing green and red house check.

According to the brand, it’s always Burberry weather: the rain isn’t so much an inconvenience as an opportunity to sell more outerwear.

And for spring/summer 2026, the offerings included a raft of silk bomber jackets, glossy raincoats and oversized wax cotton parkas that strongly channelled Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

Indeed creative director Daniel Lee celebrated the connection between fashion and music by presenting a wardrobe fit for a classic British festival such as Reading or Glastonbury (although you might not want to ruin some of the more expensive items by wearing them to either of these).

Other festival looks included crocheted bralettes, skinny knitted scarves, shrunken T-shirts, mini shift dresses and leather boots that looked sturdy enough to withstand the muddiest field.

One of Britain’s most well-known luxury heritage brands, founded by Thomas Burberry in 1856, Burberry is currently on a high

After announcing in May the loss of 1,700 jobs – almost a fifth of its workforce – shares have since doubled in value, with the company currently worth an estimated £4.5billion.

By doubling down on its British heritage, and enlisting a slew of well loved British stars to front its advertising campaigns, it has succeeded in selling an idealised, sanitised version of the grubby British festival to a global audience.

The show was an upbeat end to an upbeat week, the first overseen by Laura Weir, the new chief executive of the British Fashion Council.

Other highlights of London Fashion Week included presentations by Simone Rocha, Erdem, Roksanda and Richard Quinn.
