Bryton James, an actor who’s had featured roles on Family Matters and The Young and the Restless, is filing for divorce from his wife of seven months.
Bryton, 39, filed legal papers Monday in Los Angeles to end his marriage to spouse Jahaira James, claiming there were ‘irreconcilable differences’ in the relationship, TMZ reported after reviewing court docs.
The Lakewood, California-born actor and Jahaira got married this past March and separated in June; they do not have any children, the outlet reported.
Bryton in the legal filing requested the court to terminate its ability to grant spousal support to either party, according to the outlet. Bryton also asked for Jahaira to revert to use her maiden name after the divorce is finalized.
Bryton appeared on 143 episodes of the ABC series Family Matters from 1990–1997 in the role of Richie Crawford, under the stage name Bryton McClure.
Bryton has played the role of Devon Hamilton on The Young and the Restless for 1,687 episodes over the past three decades, according to iMDb.

Jahaira has also worked in show business as a professional dancer under the name Jahaira Myers, the outlet Swoon reported.
Jahaira, a North Carolina native, has performed alongside major stars such as Beyonce and Usher in photos on her Instagram page, which has more than 22,600 followers.
On May 2, Bryton took to Instagram to hype up his new spouse in her profession, Swoon reported, though the page was taken down in the months since.
‘What you’re looking at is the culmination of a lifetime of work, discipline, dedication, strength, bravery, and belief that my love @jahshonye continues to exude,’ Bryton said.
The actor continued: ‘Her journey is what inspiration wants to be when it grows up.’
‘And I am beyond proud to be a witness to her art as we share this life together.’
Jahaira responded, according to Swoon, ‘Sharing this life and this stage with you is the greatest gift.’
She added, ‘Thank you for seeing me the way you do.’

Bryton was previously married to Ashley Leisinger. They wed March 16, 2011, in a ceremony his costar on The Young & the Restless, Christian LeBlanc, presided over. They parted ways in February of 2014, according to the outlet.
The actor chat about the relationship on a 2021 edition of the State of Mind podcast with Maurice Benard.
Bryton said that he and Leisinger met when they were 17 and were together for most of their 20s.
Bryton said in hindsight, he felt that he might have missed out on some crucial life lessons prior to tying the knot with Leisinger.
‘The experience of truly being your own person, living on your own, having every thought only attached to yourself,’ Bryton said.
Bryton added, ‘I think is extremely valuable for every young person. And I didn’t have that before I got married.’
He’s also previously dated his The Young and the Restless co-star Brytni Sarpy.
