Brittany Hockley hits back at criticism over dramatic new look – and reveals husband’s savage response

Brittany Hockley has hit back at critics who slammed her latest hairstyle.

The former Bachelor star, 38, took to Instagram this week to reveal that many followers took umbrage with her new fringe.

Brittany, who recently announced that she was moving to Italy with her soccer star husband Benjamin Siegrist, 33, shared a series of photos that depicted a romantic Italian getaway.

However, it seems that more people were interested in criticising Brittany’s new ‘do’.

‘Had a beautiful night away… Winter in Italy is still such a vibe. Fees [sic] very romantic,’ Brittany captioned the images.

‘The DMs were popping off though. The fringe makes people mad.’

Brittany also shared responses to an Instagram story, which showed Benjamin looking less than impressed with her new look. 

‘He’s learning to love it,’ she captioned the clip.

She shared a screenshot that showed DMs from followers upset at Brittany’s change of hairstyle.

‘Hate the fringe,’ one wrote, while another offered a similar: ‘Fringe is gross.’

One suggested that Brittany should not have gone ahead with her new style if Benjamin didn’t approve.

‘Why wear it when your husband doesn’t like it?’ they asked.

Brittany shot back with: ‘It’s the “Why wear it if your husband doesn’t like it” for me.

‘How could I forget I’m only here to appease him?!? My bad. The Aperol must have gotten to my head.’

The post was met with an outpouring of support from followers, with many fawning over Brittany’s new look.

‘I love it. Looks very French,’ one swooned, while another chimed in with a similar sentiment: ‘The fringe looks great on you! Keep doing you.’

‘I don’t understand why there’s so much hate for the fringe. It looks fab!’ wrote another.

Others were quick to suggest that Benjamin’s opinions should bear little weight when it comes to Brittany’s style decisions.  

‘The idea that people will comment “why wear it if your husband doesn’t like it” is wild… like what? What ridiculous outdated patriarchal bulls*** is that?’ one asked. 

Another added: ‘Husbands hate fringes, I don’t know why? And we do what we want – so there.’          

It comes after Brittany revealed that she was moving to Italy with Benjamin.

She confirmed the exciting news in December, telling her Life Uncut co-host Laura Byrne that the move was necessary to spend more quality time with her husband, 33, after they trialled a long-distance relationship.

‘I am moving to Italy, I am going officially! Ben is like beside himself excited, he just can’t wait. I’m really looking forward to the boring stuff,’ Brittany began.

‘Like watching TV and going for a walk together. The stuff that seems so mundane but we just don’t get to do it.’

She added that it had been particularly difficult spending so much time away from Ben since they tied the knot in Bali in June.

‘We’ve wanted to be together more than ever, because we are newly married and it’s been the longest we’ve been apart,’ she said.

‘I think I’ve seen him ten days since our wedding in June. It’s now Christmas! It has been six months and I have seen him for ten days. This can’t work anymore,’ she continued. 

She reassured worried fans that she would continue to co-host her popular podcast remotely and would make regular visits to Australia to keep in touch with friends and family. 

‘Absolutely nothing will change with the pod. I won’t be going forever and I will be coming back to Aus frequently for work,’ she said.

‘2026 will be spent making sure I am happy, whatever that looks like. I will now just have the freedom to be with the love of my life so much more AND still chase my dreams!!’
