Brittany Cartwright has opened up about why exactly she chose to separate from husband Jax Taylor.
At Thursday night’s premiere party for the new reality series The Valley, the 35-year-old star told Page Six: ‘We’ve been together nine years, and people stop appreciating and take you for granted after some time — and that should never happen in a marriage.’
‘So that’s what I’m trying to get back,’ she added. ‘And if it doesn’t come back, then we won’t get back together.’
Cartwright also explained to the publication that a lack of sex in their relationship negatively affected her self-esteem before she noted that she has learned to look inward to rebuild her confidence.
The mother-of-one stated: ‘I think I just had to be like, ‘I’m hot as hell, and I’m not going to listen to this bulls**t anymore.”

She added with laughter, ‘You can rot in hell! I’m sorry,’ quoting her famous line from a 2017 season six episode of Vanderpump Rules.
Cartwright, who hails from Kentucky, has been living in an AirBnb since January.
The Bravolebrity also revealed: ‘I asked [Jax] to do little things — four little things — and go to therapy was one of them. He hasn’t done that yet.’
She continued, ‘So there’s little things that I’ve asked him to do. We’ll see if he does it all, but we’ll also see if it changes anything.’
Brittany also noted that her estranged partner is reluctant to see a therapist due to his history with the mental health professionals, saying he has ‘been burned by therapists’ in the past.
‘So he’s worried about that, and I understand that, for sure. But there’s certain things that we could work on together,’ she dished.
The media personality made it a note to say: ‘I’m not saying I’m perfect by any means, but I had to step out and take care of myself and my son, obviously.’
She and Taylor share two-year-old son Cruz and the proud mom gushed about the tot, ‘He’s just fine. He’s so happy. I feel like whenever he’s with Mama, he’s so happy, whenever he’s with Daddy… he’s fine, he’s doing great.
‘That’s what matters more than anything else in the whole wide world is him, obviously.’

The former VPR star has been candid about wanting another child — something she said she will do with or without Jax.
It’s been another point of tension in their marriage.
‘That’s a whole ‘nother thing that you’ll see play throughout the season and a whole ‘nother reason why we are where we are now,’ she teased.
Naming a sperm donor as an option and referencing former costar Lala Kent, she admitted: ‘I would so go the Lala route if I needed to. I admire her for that. I want more kids; I want Cruz to have a sibling. I come from a family of five, so I’ve got three brothers and a sister, and I love that big family dynamic.’
