Britney Spears Reunites with Son Jayden: Concerns for Her Well-Being

Britney Spears has been living in motherhood bliss following her reconciliation with her son Jayden Federline.

But the pop star’s budding relationship with her youngest child could come at his expense, insiders claim.

The Toxic singer, 43, reunited with sons Sean Federline, 19, and Jayden, 18, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, at their home in Hawaii in 2024 – two years after it was revealed that their relationship had become strained. And the following November, Jayden returned to California while Sean stayed in Hawaii, where the boys had lived with their father since 2023.

It seems that Jayden and his mother have only grown closer in the months since. The teen spent Father’s Day with Spears instead of Kevin, which the popstar commemorated with a mirror selfie on Instagram.

Now, a source has told the Daily Mail that choosing to spend the day with his mom instead of his dad was ‘telling’ – and that his newfound closeness with Spears is threatening to fracture his relationship with Sean.

‘It is very telling though that Jayden spent Father’s Day with his mother,’ they said. ‘But in the process of becoming a mama’s boy, he is losing his close bond with his brother, who is still in Hawaii.’

But the pop star’s budding relationship with her youngest child has seemingly come at the expense of his bond with older brother Sean Preston Federline, 19 (pictured in 2013) 

They added: ‘Kevin and Sean are working now, and they are both doing great.’

Following Spears’ divorce in 2007 – and a highly-publicized mental breakdown that led to her being placed under a 13-year conservatorship by her father Jamie Spears – Federline was granted sole custody of the two boys in 2008.

While the exes had appeared to amicably co-parent their sons after their split, things took a turn when Kevin requested an increase of $20,000 a month more from Spears.

After months of court discussions, Kevin rejected Spears’ child support proposal and instead doubled his request to $40,000 a month. 

A settlement was finally reached in September 2018, with Spears increasing her child support payments to Kevin from $20,000 to $35,000 a month.

Over 17 years, she paid more than an estimated $5 million in child support, but those monthly payments came to an end last September when Jayden turned 18. 

Two months later, it was reported that Jayden was ‘back in California’ where Spears lives, though it was unclear if he was staying at her $7.4 million estate in Thousand Oaks.

When they reunited last year, Spears’ friends questioned Jayden’s timing, as it followed the end of her child support payments to ex-husband Kevin Federline 

This month, photos exclusively obtained by the Daily Mail showed Jayden and his mom driving around Los Angeles in the $200,000 silver Mercedes SL 63 AMG+ whip she gifted him.

At the time, a source claimed to the Daily Mail that Spears’ team was ‘worried about her relationship with Jayden because everybody is wary that he is using her for financial gains and for his career.’

But Spears chooses to see the good in her son’s motives, as she ‘would never believe for one second that the only reason Jayden is in her life is for her money.’

‘Britney is closer with Jayden than she has ever been,’ our insider explained. ‘It has given her so much hope and love at a time when she desperately needs it.

‘Jayden is her rock right now and if there was ever anything that broke this bond Britney would be crushed. He is all she talks about. She is helping his career and providing for him financially. He is living large now.’

Jayden previously addressed his estrangement from Spears in a 2022 interview with UK broadcaster ITV, in which he criticized her online presence and claimed he had been through ’emotional trauma,’ before revealing he wanted to reunite.

‘I 100 percent think this can be fixed,’ he said. ‘It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort.

‘I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.’

Following Spears and Federline’s divorce in 2007, Federline was granted sole custody of the boys. He received more than an estimated $5 million in child support over 17 years

He then shared a message to his mother and stated: ‘I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. 

‘Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again.’

Back in November, concerns first arose over Spears’ relationship with Jayden after it was revealed he had initiated their reunion.

At the time, a separate source told the Daily Mail that those close to Spears have questioned Jayden’s timing but remained ‘cautiously optimistic.’

‘Yes, Jayden is her baby, but he’s also the one who publicly spoke out against her in that interview, which devastated her,’ they said. 

‘Still, things are going great now, and Britney couldn’t be happier.’
