Britney Spears Ditches VMAs for Mini Skirt Performance from Home

Britney Spears shared a video of herself wearing a plaid and pleated miniskirt reminiscent of the iconic look she wore in her …Baby One More Time music video.

On the same day of the star-studded VMAs in New York City, the 43-year-old music icon chose to stay home in Los Angeles and give her fans a private show on social media.

Channeling her school girl look from her debut single she released back in 1998, she posed in a low-waisted, miniskirt and an off-the-shoulder crop top.

For her 41.9 million Instagram followers, she showcased her toned midriff in the risqué look and explained how she wanted to wear a ‘baby pink hat’ with her outfit that made her think of the movie Clueless.

Spears paired the tiny top and the little skirt with black, knee-high boots as well as her signature dark eyeliner and lace choker necklace.

The post comes weeks after fan-driven rumors that Spears was planning to make her long-awaited VMAs comeback after a nine-year hiatus. But the speculation was recently debunked.

Spears captioned Sunday’s IG post, which she did not set to any music in a rare occurrence, with emojis of two roses on each side of a dagger.

One of her most famous songs was her debut single Baby One More Time, which she last performed in 2017. 

In the music video for the dance-pop song, she dressed up as a high school student in a tiny crop top and a miniskirt. 

She sang about longing for the return of an ex-boyfriend and danced around the school while watching her love interest from afar. 

Spears last performed the song when she was still in her infamous conservatorship. 

She sang and danced to Baby One More Time during her Femme Fatale Tour in 2011. 

She also performed her hit song during her Britney: Piece of Me residency in Las Vegas, in which she performed 248 shows from 2013 to 2017. Her first and latest residency grossed over $137 million. 

Last year, it was rumored that she would be making a Sin City comeback but DailyMail.com revealed that she had no plans to return. 

Her recent post — which was shared on the same day as the 2025 VMAs — appeared to be another filmed in her Mexican vacation home, where she also filmed and posted a racy dancing video a week ago. 

The Grammy winner was wearing a black, plunging bodysuit featuring a thong backside and made up of a sheer material in the video she posted on Labor Day Monday. 

Spears seductively swiveled her waist and thrust her hips in the montage, which also showed her wearing a red boater hat and white bikini beneath the leotard. 

The semi-retired pop star made sure to model a black choker, which was likely a piece from her upcoming jewelry brand, B. Tiny. 

And she captioned her Instagram video with the same set of emojis while modeling a nearly identical, wide-brimmed hat but in a bright red color. 

Just days before that, Spears apologized to her fans for posting nude snaps with only a rose emoji to shield her modesty. 

‘Self love and confidence [are] something I’m seeking. I apologize to anyone by showing my a**,’ the self-described ‘struggling artist’ explained. 

‘Sometimes [you] have to embarrass yourself to remember who [you] are, I can’t believe I did it either!’

She added: ‘I’ve had two bathing suit thongs my whole life. I was telling my friend and she actually didn’t believe me. God bless!’
