British pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor is officially heading Down Under to perform at one of Sydney’s biggest beach parties.
The 44-year-old hitmaker, best known for her noughties hit Murder On The Dancefloor, has been confirmed as the headlining act at Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras’ 2024 Bondi Beach Party on Saturday 24 February.
Sophie will be joined by an incredible lineup of artists including American pop acts Slayyter and Corey, and British DJs Jay Jay Revlon and Lagoon Femshaymer.
Australian performers Tyoow, Mama de Leche, and Beth Yen (ACT) will also take the stage at the 15,000-guest strong event.
Tickets are now on sale for $239 plus a booking fee via www.mardigras.org.au.

Her appearance at Bondi Beach Party will be the first of two trips to Australia this year, as Sophie is also supporting Take That on their national tour in in October and November.
She will be joined by fellow supporting act Ricki-Lee Coulter.
Sophie’s career is currently enjoying a renaissance after her 2001 song Murder On The Dancefloor was used in Emerald Fennell’s 2024 film Saltburn, starring Australian actor Jacob Elordi.

It features in the film’s finale when main character Oliver – played by Barry Keoghan – dances naked through the halls of the Saltburn mansion.
The film’s popularity has catapulted Murder On The Dancefloor to the top of charts across the world.
A music industry source told the Mail On Sunday: ‘Sophie has become a global star again. Universal, her old record label, have snapped her up and she will be releasing new music later in the year.’
‘She is likely to be a bigger star than she was back in the day. It has come out of nowhere for Sophie and she is thrilled and really excited.’
