Brian Cox Transforms into Killer in Dexter: Resurrection

Succession star Brian Cox has been spotted looking very different from his role as global media boss Logan Roy as he made his debut on the set of Dexter: Resurrection.

The Hollywood actor was seen transformed into a wheelchair-using  man for his role in the Paramount+ series - which kickstarted it's production this week. 

Brian, 79, joined the cast of the hit series ahead of its return for season two, which will see Michael C. Hall back in his role as forensics expert Dexter. 

Fan-favourite star will return as Charley, with familiar faces Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Sarif, Dominic Fumusa and James Remar also back on set for the show's hotly anticipated return. 

Brian was announced as a guest star in the upcoming series earlier this year,  playing Dom Framt, the 'New York Ripper', a former serial killer now in retirement from .

Appearing frail in a wheelchair, and transformed with a large white moustache and a pair of glasses, Brian took to set in New York, USA, on Wednesday. 

He was pictured looking around in a sketchy dumping ground as he made his character debut - after the New York Ripper was first teased in Dexter: Resurrection's first series back in July 2025. 

The series synopsis teases: 'The second season of Dexter: Resurrection finds Dexter Morgan caught between two killers – one notorious and the other terrorising New York in ways no one ever anticipated – all while battling his greatest enemy yet: a mid-life crisis.'

The synopsis added of Dexter's son, Harrison, played by Jack Alcott: 'Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter.'

Alongside Brian, the new series will also feature Dan Stevens, Emmy Award winner Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson in brand-new roles. 

It was confirmed last year at San Diego Comic Con that Dexter actor Michael, 55, would be reprising his role as the blood-spatter analyst.

He previously returned as the inner voice of Dexter on Original Sin, which aired in 2025, with Patrick Gibson playing the killer as he begins his career at Miami Metro.

'We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C. Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime's most successful series ever,' Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President, previously said in a press release.

He continued, 'While Dexter: Resurrection will appeal to the tens of millions of longtime fans, Dexter: Original Sin will introduce a whole new generation of viewers into this iconic series by starting from the beginning, which is sure to satisfy existing audiences as well.'

Elsewhere, Kill Bill star Uma Thurman, 54, will play 'Charley, the Head of Security for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater.

'A former Special Ops officer, Charley worked various high-level private security jobs before taking on her position as the resourceful and meticulous right-hand woman for Prater' Deadline reported. 

In January, Dexter actor Michael made an appearance on Showtime's Instagram account where he teased for viewers of the franchise to 'stay tuned'. 

'Hey, what’s up? It’s Michael C. Hall. I am on the set for the first official day of production for Dexter: Resurrection,' he told the platform's nearly 600,000 followers.

'I’m looking forward to another thrill ride, and when all is said and done, to you taking the ride with us. Stay tuned,' the actor teased in a video.

It comes after Succession actor Brian hit out that his character Logan Roy was killed off 'too early' on the hit drama, and revealed how long he thinks the character should have survived.

The actor did not mind the media patriarch not living to see out the entire four-season run of the show but he wishes he had clung on for longer than the first three episodes of the final series.

Speaking at the Oxford Union earlier this year, he praised the show's ending and said: 'My only caveat to that, though I think I was happy to be killed off, I thought it was one episode too early because then you had more of those boring kids.'

Brian added that he belives creator did the right thing in understanding that 'clearly less is better than more', and ended the programme before it outstayed its welcome.

The veteran actor was a particular fan of the work of his co-star , who played his son Roman Roy, for having maintained 'that child actors' enthusiasm.

He added: 'It would be terrible to curtail that...

'The first series he would freak out if he had three alts (alternative lines), by the last series he was doing five pages of alts… it was wonderful to watch.'
