Brian Austin Green revealed a surprising romance from his past and why it stayed hidden.
The 52-year-old ex-husband of Megan Fox opened up about dating Martin actress Tichina Arnold, 56, while appearing on a new episode of Deon Cole’s Funny Knowing You podcast.
The 90210 star took umbrage with Tichina’s previous comments on the podcast about how he was just experimenting with dating black women.
The actor explained how they ‘ended up fooling around and kind of dating’ but that she told him nobody could know about their romance.
Green — who said hip-hop was his ‘world’ — revealed that triggered his insecurities because he felt like he wasn’t accepted by the culture around him at the time.
‘I think coming from Martin… she was very clear on day one of like nobody can know about this. Nobody. Like, can’t tell people, can’t can’t talk about this.’

He went on: ‘And so I was I was in my early 20s. I was living in a culture that wasn’t accepting of me, but there was no way to get out of it because that was just where my brain and my heart were.’
‘So, I was really insecure. And then I have someone who I’m attracted to who’s telling me like, “Oh, you can’t tell anybody.”‘
‘I think for me, like, it really triggered something of like, “Oh, okay. I’m not good enough for any of this. You don’t even want your friends to know that you’re hanging out with me.’Â
‘And then at some point it flipped a little bit and all of a sudden she was like cool with it. But I think somewhere in my mind like I had that subconscious switch of like, oh, this isn’t a real relationship. This is just a thing that we’re doing,’ he explained.Â
‘And now maybe her view of it has changed a little bit, but it didn’t even start in a healthy way,’ the actor added.Â
Green also replied to her claim that he was ‘dating all these black women’ at the time.
‘Hip-hop was my world. I was doing hip-hop clubs. I was going to all the places where hip-hop was existing. So, when you’re dating someone, you usually date the people that you’re around.’
‘So, of course, I was dating majority black women at the time because it was like we had common interests. We had things that we were doing together.’

Arnold (pictured appearing on the podcast weeks prior) said she told him: ‘I see you dating all these black women, now you’re dating me, and you’re not going to end up with a black woman. You’re going to share your riches and your legacy with someone white’
‘So, it wasn’t a conscious choice of like, “Oh, I, you know, I want to date someone culturally who’s different. Like, that wasn’t, that never even crossed my mind because we shared the same culture.’
‘And to me, like race, and I’ll get into this later, race for me, I hate that f*****g word. I hate the word race.’
‘Like to me there are different cultures and I think as soon as we start changing the perspective on that and stop using the word race and instead start using the word culture then it kind of brings us all down to a more common level.’
However, Green explained that the two are on excellent terms now, saying ‘I love Tichina’ and that he spoke to her right before appearing on the podcast. ‘I will always have her back. She has always had my back.’Â
His revelations came after she spoke about their time together on the podcast in December.
She said: ‘I told him, I said the reason why we’ve come to the end of our road, because I see you dating all these black women, now you’re dating me, and you’re not going to end up with a black woman. You’re going to share your riches and your legacy with someone white.’
‘And so I’m getting off this train,’ she shared, but added that it ‘was a great experience because he was a good human being.’
Green later went on to marry Fox. The two were together from 2010 until their divorce was finalized in 2021.
