Brendan Fevola shocked his Fox FM co-stars on Friday morning by revealing he would be stepping away from the program.

The former AFL champ and radio star, 44, told listeners he would be competing on the upcoming season of Channel Ten’s The Amazing Race and would be absent for some time.

‘I’m leaving the show… not for good, though,’ he began.

‘I got an opportunity last year to do something with my 18-year-old daughter Leni – to travel the world on the TV show The Amazing Race! So, I won’t be on the show as of Monday.’

Co-host Fifi Box then wished Brendan all the best and asked if he had any idea when he would be returning.

‘I could be away for a couple of days, a couple of weeks, depends on when I get eliminated… I am not worried about the race, I am worried about whether Leni and I punch on or not. That could be our elimination,’ he joked.

Brendan has co-hosted the top-rating Fox Melbourne breakfast show since April 2016.

When he joined it was known as Fifi, Dave and Fev and he hosted alongside Fifi Box and Dave Thornton.

Thornton resigned in 2017 and the show’s current line-up of Brendan, Fifi and Nick Cody has been in place since 2021.

Brendan’s announcement coincided with Triple M breakfast star Beau Ryan revealing on Friday he will be going on leave for several weeks to host The Amazing Race.

The veteran presenter, 39, confirmed the news on-air to his co-star Aaron Woods, 34, and told him he had gotten a special fill-in presenter to take over his role.

‘I’m jetting off for a bit, taking off to do The Amazing Race,’ Beau told Woodsy, who then asked who would be filling in for him in the interim.

‘Great question. [News reporter] Cat Lynch and I have had a couple of great conversations, we have a great fill-in!’ Beau said.

He added they wouldn’t reveal the presenter’s identity just yet to maintain the mystery.

‘He’s good, fun and he actually really loves you Woodsy. It is exciting and he is going to bring plenty of energy,’ he said.

Beau has hosted The Amazing Race Australia since it premiered on Channel Ten in 2019, five years after Channel Seven cancelled the series.

In October, Brendan teased fans about a massive career change.

The Carlton Football club legend, who currently co-hosts the Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick Show, said he was itching to get back into footy as a coach.

His shock announcement came after he spent a day training with Collingwood’s AFLW team.

‘It makes me wanna be a coach,’ an emotional Fevola told his co-hosts Fifi Box and Nick Cody on Friday.

‘You wouldn’t understand how much I loved it,’ he said.

‘I was up and about all day yesterday. I haven’t trained for any of the teams I’ve played for in the last 14 years, not once.’

Fevola, who rose to fame as a top goal kicker for the Carlton Football Club’s AFL premier side in the early 2000s, said he was originally asked along to the training session by Collingwood CEO Craig Kelly.
