The EastEnders’ Branning family ditched the soap drama for a festive night out as they shared fun-filled snaps to Instagram on Sunday.

The popular soap clan were in very happy spirits as they enjoyed a meal at a fancy London restaurant.

Jacqueline Jossa, 33, shared a series of playful pictures of the cast, which included Jake Wood, 53, Scott Maslen, 54, Ellie Dadd, 20, Kitty Castledine, 23, and Pierre Moullier, 25.

Jacqueline (Lauren), Pierre (Oscar), and Jake (Max) form an immediate Branning family unit, with Max serving as the father to Lauren and Oscar.

Scott (Jack) plays Max’s brother, making his daughters, Penny (Kitty) and Amy (Ellie), cousins to Lauren and Oscar within the wider Branning family.

The cast members could be seen joking around, singing along to reels, and posing for group photos.

The outing comes after Jake returned to the square.

He was last on screens in February 2021 as Max decided to wave goodbye to Walford after his affair with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was exposed and she decided to stay with Mick over him.

His brother Jack told him to move on with his life, which inspired him to leave and go to New Zealand to be with his daughter Lauren.

After four years away from the Square, Max showed his face during a September episode of the BBC show.

As viewers will know, earlier this week Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) also made a shock return to the programme.

The market stall holder ends up in the hospital after getting shot, which leaves Kat worrying about whether her daughter is safe.

Zoe’s mobile rings while she is in hospital and Kat decides to answer, not knowing that it’s actually Max Branning on the other end of the phone.

Max decides to keep quiet so that Kat doesn’t know that it is him. The fan-favourite’s return was first teased back in July.

A source told The Sun: ‘Jake’s return is huge news for EastEnders fans as his character made a massive mark on the show.

‘It’ll raise some eyebrows after he was absent from the 40th anniversary earlier this year. Bosses are excited about what his character’s reappearance means for spicing up the plots.
